Wow. What a lovely experience. No distractions, this is a wine tasting for the enthusiasts, very generously, their iconic Shiraz Viognier was included. I hosted a tour group for three days through wineries across the Canberra Districts/ Murrumbateman region. We all loved the cool climate Riesling and Shiraz. You can see why Clonakilla is listed in Australia’s Top Wineries as released by the Real Review. Fantastic experience, very knowledgeable team. Well worth exploring. Thank you 🥂🥂

We were very lucky to participate in the winery's 1st lunch with wine pairing. QT Canberra catered and Rob did an amazing job pairing the wines. We felt very welcomed. The whole team at Clonakilla were lovely. Thank you Caroline. The location is beautiful with well-maintained gardens and a modern interior. Rob - you did an amazing job! We had an amazing experience at Clonakilla Winery for my birthday. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable—with a great sense of humour too, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The selection of wines was outstanding. Clonakilla produces some of the best wines we’ve tasted in the Southern Hemisphere—rich in flavour and depth, yet without the over-the-top price tag. Each pour was a standout, showcasing the winery’s exceptional craftsmanship and character. The scenery added to the magic—peaceful, picturesque, and perfect for a special occasion or a relaxed weekend visit. Couldn’t recommend this beautiful place more highly. 10/10—Clonakilla is a must-visit for any wine lover.

Stopped by Clonakilla and it just gets it. Beautiful cellar door, no attitude, no rush. The team knows their stuff but keeps it relaxed and easy, which makes the whole experience feel pretty special. Wines are seriously good (yes, the Shiraz Viognier deserves the hype), and it’s one of those places you plan to pop into and end up staying way longer than expected. Walked out with many bottles,. Will 100% be back.

Fantastic visit to the winery. Our host was great, very knowledgeable and shared a lot of the family history. The wines were exceptional particularly the Shiraz Viognier. We were visiting from Ireland and loved the connection to home. Bought a couple of bottles to bring in the suitcase.

What a disappointing experience we endured at Clonakilla last weekend. We entered the cellar door with much enthusiasm as we know some of the wines are great. But that’s where the enthusiasm stopped. The four of us were shown to a table in a room of which maybe only four other small groups were present. Twenty minutes goes by before we are asked if we would like to taste some wine to which we said yes. Another 20 minutes goes by until our first tasting was brought to our table. After an explanation regarding the wine was given we were left alone for another 20 minutes until we were served again. This 20 minute window kept happening throughout our time at Clonakilla. Had the place been busy with limited staff you could understand the timing, but it wasn’t busy and there were 4 or 5 staff on deck. It really was one of the worst experiences we have endured at a winery. To the point we left without sampling all the wines on offer. Unfortunately this seems common practice at Clonakilla upon reading previous reviews by other people. Such a disappointment!

Very worth seeking this winery out. The tasting experience allows you to to try all their wines which are really nice. Good cellar door pricing.

Wine tasting at Clonakilla on a Friday was quiet, intimate and personable. Great range of wines, friendly and knowledgeable service and a warm fireplace. Perfect wine tasting experience.

Clonakilla is a clear standout in the Canberra region. Be sure to book a tasting at this winery the cellar door as it gets popular, for good reason. There's high quality wines on offer. The tasting is free and staff here are well prepared, they provide you with an enjoyable experience and you are sure to purchase some of their great wine. All of the wine we tried at Clonakilla was stunning. Known for their reds, we also thought the whites were quite exceptional. Their Reisling is quite sweet with oily mouth feel. The Chardonnay was one of our favourites, on the nose it is buttered toast and the flavour very nutty and toasty. Their Voigneir was quite floral and sweet. Their Hilltop shiraz was another favourite, floral with winter berries and certainly is great value. Their world renowned Shiraz Voigner is a delicious wine, complex sweet and savoury with a nice earthiness. The winery itself is also stunning. The space is large and has a lovely outlook on the vine clad hills. As you sit inside, you're surrounded by local stone, reclaimed timbers, wine barrels and a large central fireplace. It's homely, comfortable and a top place to add to your list.

I visited the winery back in July 2015 - but the new cellar door was built in March of 2016. Very pleasant setup for tasting. Really enjoyed the range of wines. The Pinot had a nice strawberry cherry fruit with cloves on the back end. Their Sauvignon blanc semillon was seamless with its 50/50 blend. But the 2018 Shiraz Viognier was a knockout - still tannic, but give ut 8 years. Also enjoyed the 2017 Syrah which is kept in the barrel 2 years. Can't wait to taste the 2018 vintage

This great little cellar door is a must-try if you're touring the local vineyards.
