Clos Apalta Residence

This property is truly next level. From the moment you arrive, it feels less like a hotel and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. The atmosphere is warm and personal, and that feeling carries through the entire stay.||The rooms are stunning. We stayed in a Casita, and it was incredibly spacious and thoughtfully designed. It had everything we could possibly need, including a large patio, a separate sitting area, and an outdoor plunge pool that made it feel extra special. The space felt private, comfortable, and easy to relax in.||What really sets this place apart is the staff. Everyone we met was exceptional and went above and beyond. They genuinely go out of their way to anticipate your needs and create personalized experiences, from arranging custom itineraries to helping with even the smallest requests. Nothing ever felt forced or transactional.||The food was another highlight. Meals are tailored to your preferences, and every dish we had was excellent. The wine selection is also outstanding, and they’re happy to bring out specific vintages if you ask.||Can’t recommend this property enough! Loved the experience and would definitely go back.

We stayed for 3 nights in late November 2025. The villas are wonderful and the property is beautiful. The issue is the food and the service. Considering you are likely planning to dine here for all, or most, of your meals, the food needs to be better. There is no menu. They just bring you food. It is prixe fix and you will not even receive a menu of what you will be served each night. I have stayed in similar boutique resorts and never had such limited options. No offering of a pre dinner drink (since they have no bar). Food and wine just starts arriving after you sit. Every dinner started with an empanada. Upon arrival, I told them I don't eat eggs and on the first night they gave me a beef tartare with raw egg on it. Two nights we were served the same entree. Nothing was outstanding. Each night we heard food being sent back. The wine is limited to Clos Apalta wine, which is fine, but after 2 nights, you will have tried them all. We ordered a margarita to break things up and they did not know how to make one. We ordered charcuterie boards for lunch which were quite basic. One meat was foul and we told them and they did not offer to bring a substitute. We had a nice relaxing stays and had fun playing tennis, but the value is not there and this is far from a 4 or 5 star resort based on the food. The host who greeted us was very nice, but after that the staff seemed to care less whether we were having a good time. Lastly, the pool was not heated, so it was frigid to swim in. Relais & Chateaux should pull this from their brand. It was a big disappointment.

Staying at Clos Apalta was the most wonderfully relaxing way to end our stay in Chile. We enjoyed a couple of wine tours, a visit to the museum in Santa Cruz, a cycle ride around the vineyard and walk up in to the hills above the vineyard. The food is amazing, as of course is the wine which is paired with every course. The staff can be contacted via WhatsApp at all times and are very responsive. All in all, the quality of the accommodation, level of service, location and whole experience excellent. We would not hesitate to go back if we had the chance.

We arrived late but were greeted warmly and given time to freshen up before dinner. Our vehicle was parked, we were driven to our room, set high above the vineyard to find out luggage already arrived. A magnificent four course dinner, paired with wines specific to the dining room and not for general sale was an absolute delight. Fresh produce, creatively presented & elegant wines what more could you ask? The 'room' was beautiful; big free standing bath, huge shower, plunge pool, beds that you could happily stay in for days, a comfortable living area and it all looking out over the vineyard towards the glorious mountains. A dream visit, ended too soon. Thank you to everyone at the establishment.

We stayed in Cabernet, and the views and accommodations were superb. The restaurant is excellent, and service there was spot on. Loved our tour of the winery, also. We spent three nights, and they were a relaxing counterpoint to our other incredible stays in Chile which involved a lot of hiking. This stop was rest and bliss.

Stunning property. Our villa was beautiful. Excellent and attentive staff. Meals were beautiful and delicious. Loved our tour of the wine cellar. An amazing property with incredible people who work there. The villas are private and spacious. Very pampered while staying here.

We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights, and this is now high on our list of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The main house where we had our meals is the former residence of the owners, and everything about it is warm and welcoming. We felt like we were visiting friends. This year several new casitas have been added along the hillside, which is where we slept. The architecture is absolutely stunning – floor to ceiling windows looking out over the vineyard, individual plunge pool on the private terrace, separate sitting area with a desk, and a free-standing tub in the magnificent bathroom. All our meals were included in the rate. The food was fabulous, and each course was paired with the amazing wines from their cellars. The winery can be toured even if you are not a guest at the Residences, and I would highly recommend that. The design was fascinating, and the science behind the architecture was incredible. We could have stayed at Clos Apalta for a week!

Clos Apalta in the Colchaga Valley, only 2+ hours from Santiago, is an absolute gem. It commands an elevated position overlooking a panorama of its extensive vineyards. The property provides pure luxury, while not in any way being pretentious. Accommodation is offered in spacious, well designed, state-of-the-art casitas which are set on slopes of natural vegetation overlooking the extensive vineyards of the property. The interiors are luxury personified and this is equally seen in the fantastic dining location, service and quality of food and cooking. Lunches and dinners are generally several courses, paired with wines from the vineyards in front of one. The wines are served and tutored by a masterly sommelier. Each meal is made to be a memorable experience, with exquisite place settings and glassware.|There were just two features which we found annoying in our 4-night stay: one was the total absence of shade and privacy around the plunge pool (particularly in some of the new casitas). The other issue was that the duty managers ranged from excellent to ineffectual. Nevertheless, Clos Apalta provides the most perfect of vineyard stays.
