Clos du Marquis French Restaurant

We were very keen to try this independent restaurant, and our entire evening was brilliant. Every element worked perfectly and the food was absolutely delicious. It was a really quiet intimate restaurant which we enjoyed as you could have a good conversation, and it was a peaceful atmosphere. It was also a cold evening and we were very pleased to walk into a warm restaurant. The owners were very friendly and provided excellent service throughout the meal. I decided to have the starter and main course of the day which were absolutely delicious. My partner had the scallops and the halibut which was a brilliant choice. The meal was enhanced by all the additional extras that make up the meal. We are so pleased that there is an independent restaurant so local to where we live. We had a few glasses of white burgundy with our meal which went down very well. Pudding was fantastic, and there were some good options on the menu. We are really looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

Great upcoming resturant with hearty dishes and interesting sauces. Although I loved this restaurant, I think they were slightly overpriced as it is quite expensive for tourists. Cheese plate is delicious though and the steak is great.

My wife and I booked out (16 people) Clos du Marquis for our joint 40th birthday, and had the most amazing time with our closest friends. The food and service were incredible, l want to send a massive thanks to Garth and Maranda for hosting us and putting on such an amazing evening. Will definitely be going back, and booking for our 50th's!

This was where I took my wife on our first date and have been back every year since (including to propose). The menu is small and excellently prepared. The dishes change frequently but are always authentic French. Garth looks after you expertly and knows what you desire often before you do! Outstanding food doesn't come cheap but Clos du Marquis is always value for money. I cannot recommend it enough.

We went with another couple for lunch and all felt it was the best experience in our recent memory which is saying something as we love eating out! Sorry I didn't take pictures of the food which was delicious from the amuse-bouche to the chocolate truffles served complimentary at the end of our meal. Champagne excellent, crab starter excellent, rabbit with mustard sauce absolutely divine. But in addition to the lovely food and wine, the owner was so very welcoming without being intrusive, served perfectly so we always felt taken care of but our conversations never interrupted. It was like the Gavroche where no one appears until you need them. To take it to perfect 5 stars, the restaurant was immaculately clean and the decorations and loos beautifully done. That is where these pictures are from as I would like to copy the idea - sorry no pictures of the well presented food......

This used to be called the Leckford Hut but now has been transformed into a wonderful French restaurant. It has an airy feel about it inside with pretty furnishings. There is a bar at the side with an open fire. The owners and their staff make everyone feel most welcome. There are tables inside and out. The set lunches are terrific value (midweek only.) We have tried wild boar, grouse, all sorts of unusual foods.! Beautifully cooked authentic French food in a countryside location. The wine list is also good.The owner received his training in a very well regarded restaurant in Paris called Au trou gascon which specialises in the cuisine of South West France.
