Nearly everyday I wish there were a Cloud Cakes in Boston, because if there were, you'd find me there every. single. weekend.
When my boyfriend and I bought tickets to Paris, Cloud Cakes was one of the first places I bookmarked, and it lived up to all my (very high) expectations.
We went to Cloud Cakes at around 11:30 am, so weren't sure whether to order breakfast or lunch, though in hindsight we really should have come back again to try both. Eventually, we compromised and shared the grilled cheese, a croissant, and a piece of marble cake. I also ordered a latte and my boyfriend had an espresso.
The grilled cheese was delicious, and came with bread, vegan cheese, mushrooms, and a side salad. It was grilled perfectly, gooey, and exactly what I hoped for.
I've had many croissants, and this one, which looked to be partially whole wheat (?), did not disappoint. It wasn't quite as "buttery" as the other vegan croissant I had in Paris at VG Pâtisserie, but it was so light and flaky that I could have inhaled three. In fact, my boyfriend actually did go back and order another croissant for the road, which never made it out of the shop, oops.
The marble cake was also solid. Super dense and moist with ribbons of chocolate and vanilla batter- exactly how a marble cake should be.
I loved my latte, which was the perfect blend of creamy and coffee, and the espresso was tasty too. All this said, go to Cloud Cakes!! It's totally worth whatever trek you need to make it happen.
