Stayed at this location for one week. Knew full well that the resort is only a three star and had seen many pictures and videos beforehand as well as read some reviews and therefore knew what to expect. We were meeting friends and therefore the vacation was about spending time together more than anything else.||||The staff was very friendly and accommodating. No complaints there. The resort itself is mediocre, in need of repairs and updating, but for the most part clean. For those who are interested in the utmost luxury, this is not THAT resort by any means. I personally did not eat any of the food because it wasn’t appealing to me (brought my own) and it’s very different from what I’m accustomed to. That being said, I noticed many guests who appeared to have no issues and I never felt that there was a shortage. However, I did notice a shortage of beverages. They don’t have a huge variety of alcohol. Pretty sure they only had rum and beer. At times when I would ask, they had bottled water and other times they did not. Sometimes they had orange pop, sometimes they did not. They did serve piña colada’s, although they were more milky rather than slushy. They served cappuccinos and espressos daily, and I enjoyed those. Bring toilet paper/wipes if you can because there is a shortage.||||We left the resort several times to visit the nearby villages. It was heartbreaking. The living conditions are something else. Made me feel guilty about staying at the resort, which for me wasn’t anything extra special, but for them is a luxury that so many could not afford. The weather was fantastic and the staff go above and beyond to accommodate. I had read many reviews saying that they had no water. Perhaps we lucked out because we had hot water the entire week, except for the very last day when we had no water at all. The power went out several times, but always came back within minutes/seconds. They have free Wi-Fi which they allot to you hours at a time. Our room consisted of two double beds, a TV, a fridge. I would tend to say that it was mostly seniors that stayed at the resort and was pretty barren until the end of the week, at which point many of the local Cubans arrived to relax and unwind. I find Cubans to be very bubbly people and know how to party, so it does tend to get loud. I did note that when they arrived, the restaurant was packed and seating was an issue. The nightly entertainment consisted of bingo and performances that include lip syncing, dancing and a fire eater.||||The beach is not what you expect when you hear about Cuba. The water is not turquoise and consists of rocks, seaweed and sea urchins, so beware. That being said, many guests found a small area free of these obstacles and were able to enjoy a good swim. There is a small bar on the beach and they offer massages. It is a 4 hour bus ride from Holguín to the resort and the roads are very bumpy at times. Our driver and his assistant Orlando were wonderful.||||Overall I enjoyed my stay because I knew what I was walking into.||||However, I was shocked to see how many of the older male guests are paying to spend time with young Cuban women. It was quite disgusting. These men should be ashamed to do so, particularly because I’m sure they may have had young daughters at one point in time and would not appreciate old men doing the same with their loved ones. I watched a pair of 70 year old men spend day and night with 20 and 22 year old sisters during my entire stay. While at the beach I watched them playfully bury one of the men in the sand and it felt so wrong. I felt overwhelming sorry for these girls as I know they feel they have no other option, but these men!!!! Ewwwww!!!||||On another occasion I listened to three dirty old men discuss their experiences at the bar in the lobby as I ordered my cappuccino. There were other women including myself present during their VERY LOUD conversation. Talking as though they were adolescent boys. No respect for others as they openly discussed about their body parts (shriveled nonetheless and most likely not working as well as they were making out) and what not. So if you are traveling with your teenage daughters, this may not be ideal. These men should be ashamed of their pedo behavior but instead walk around like they’re something special. ||||I met a man whose wife only just passed recently who vacationed with her to this resort and returned to “fraternize” with a young girl so soon afterward. ||||I also met a man whose marriage did not survive due to the extra-ciricular activities he was engaging in while vacationing here years ago with his entire family present. ||||The other thing that is heartbreaking are the poor animals. So many stray dogs and cats. The cats didn’t look particularly unhealthy, but the dogs… the dogs were another story. This saddened me. And I fed them food from the resort, not gonna lie. I figured if I wasn’t eating it, they could have my portion. Poor sweet things. Skinny, infested with mites and mange and God knows what else. Afraid to be approached. None of them neutered/spayed and popping out litters after litters of puppies. In fact, a litter of puppies had been born under one of the neighboring cottages, and although I could not see them, I could hear them. Born to the same fate as their parents. It broke my heart. ||||I recall feeding a couple of dogs one evening, placing food for them on the concrete walkway and one of the three disgusting men from the lobby earlier in the week disappointedly remarking that people would now have to walk on it. I replied that there would be nothing left once the dogs were through and wanted to add that it couldn’t be any worse than what he came to Cuba for and that his topic of discussion amongst the other guests was far worse than anything I had done.||||I am rating this resort as a 3/5 because I am happy with the staff’s efforts to try to make our vacation a success considering what little they have and the conditions of Cuba at the moment.||||I would not return to this resort nor any other resort in Cuba. It’s just too sad.

We stayed at the Cuba's resort Carisol Los Corales from 05 March till 18 March 2024. From the very beginning of our stay at this resort we experienced an absence of water (hot and cold) and electricity. When there was no electricity there were no||WiFi and Air Conditioning too. At first we thought that this situation would just last a very short time as we are familiar with Cuba but we were wrong. After talking to the vacationers and some personal of the resort on 05 March 2024 we learned that this situation had been continuing awhile. I want to underline that we were temporary absence of electricity but COMPLETE ABSENCE OF THE hot and cold WATER for the 2 weeks duration of our stay at the resort. Just imagine your personal home without the water for two weeks !!! What will be in the bathroom? We urgently needed to obtain the bucket. The bucket was used to bring the water to the room to flush the toilet a few times per day. Yes ! I carried the water in the bucket from the lawn hydrant which was outside the building. If we had a chance to leave the resort we would do it right away the next day upon learning the deplorable sanitary situation in Carisol Los Corales. The whole resort !!! had lack of water. There was no single drop of the water either in the rooms or in the public bathroom in the lobby. This is in the hot climate with the swarm of the flies in the restaurant. There were the complete unsanitary conditions ! There was the smell from the open doors of the occupied rooms. Guess why !!! People went outside where there was a lawn hydrant on the ground level to wash hands or to fill the plastic bottle with water to flush the toilet. For not all was lucky to find the buckets. I do not wear a beard and shave myself every other day with the shaving razor but for the two weeks I could not care for myself due to the lack of the water notwithstanding I had a full set of the shaving accessories with me. My wife and I, we both, can state that this was not a relaxing vacation but suffering and surviving. Hola Sun can not sell the vacation package to the place where the water is COMPLETELY absent !!!!!! They have to monitor the situation on the resort but not think only about money. The climate is hot in Cuba and without the water any infectious disease can outbreak !

Travelled to Los Coralas Feb 11 to 25 with my wife. We both had an enjoyable 2 weeks. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We always had adequate hot water in our room. The air conditioning worked fine during our stay. The food was adequate for our needs. No significant shortages. Students were working in the restaurant and did an excellent job. These students are not paid but told us they get to keep tips. Be generous.||Something that needs to be corrected is the amount of food taken out of the restaurant by a few tourist. This results in less for guests and results in waiting longer in line at the grill. Also too many dogs - need to be removed.||We would return to this hotel next year if the price is right.

I travelled Nov. 3rd to Nov. 17th. Not my first trip to this resort, but I was a little worried to travel so early in the season. Departed Toronto just an hour late and arrived after an amazing flight with OWG into Holguin. This is a new airline operated by Hola sun and I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was the best I have ever had on a plane - served piping hot with the most wonderful brownie!! The flight crew were personable and professional. The flight was not full, so weight limit were a little flexible. Most of the plane was full of tourist staying in Holguin and only 7 of us boarded a small bus/taxi to Santiago. We did stop about half way there and were able to grab a beer, use the facilities and have a quick smoke. Off to Santiago where we had 2 stops to drop off guests at Las Americas and Casa Grande. Then the fun began - there is a detour leaving Santiago which confused out driver and we got lost!! Ended up in Siboney even after we kept telling him to turn left!! We arrived at Los Corales an hour late, but were still greeted by members of the Animation Crew and a Rum Punch - yum!!. We were upgraded to the Cabana section which I had never stayed in before - very nice! Comfy beds, really hot water and a sweet Chambermaid who had a hard time believing i didn't need my room cleaned every day! I was in A-1 which had a great view of the parking lot...lol. Old Bucanero friends were on staff, Alejandro in Reception, Elizabeth in Commercial relations and Natalie in the restaurant. The first few meals were served in the Lobby bar, and then were were directed to the Restaurant. Not a varied selection, but the food was hot and delicious. The pool was clean and refreshing, and Fransisco was at his usual post at the swim up bar. Animation crew always around for a chat, never did get in m Domino lesson! I had first booked Costa Morena but as they are only open on the weekends I was shifted to Corales. The first Saturday I took the staff bus to CM to visit with again old Bucanero friends - Oneivis, Omara and Eloy - also got to see Esther, Jesus and Mama Frita! You can see the damage done by the Cuban tourists, colour panels broken out of the new fence and plates and plastic cups everywhere. Eloy drove me back to Los Corales in time for an afternoon swim and to get ready for dinner. The next week was filled with sun fun and some rum and on the last Friday I went into the city to stay at Las Americas for the weekend - a friends birthday, visits with friends and some good Cuban home cooking! The hotel was not full and they didn't mind me wandering down to get coffee in the morning in my jammies! The cost was $45.00 Canadian per night and that included breakfast. Back to Los Corales on the Monday - $50.00 US for the taxi, didn't get his name but he was cheerful, stopped to let me take pictures nd grab some beer at the gas station just past the Prehistoric park. The last few days were spent at the pool, only one day did it require some chlorine, but that was just because someone took the keys home that shouldn't have. Early Thursday I had my final breakfast, my bag was was brought to the lobby for me, and it was time to say goodbye to old and new friends. Would I go back - in a heart beat!!

Travelled to Carisol los Corales in Feb 2020 with hubby. We stayed on the Corales side, as we have in the past but spent lots of time on the Carisol side as we prefer their lobby. Much larger and more comfortable chairs. It was a very pleasant 2 weeks. The weather in the southern part of Cuba is one of their biggest assets. We enjoy the beach here because it is large, and has many trees. There is enough room for everyone and always a choice of sun or shade.||||The staff are excellent and do everything possible to make your vacation comfortable and enjoyable. There was always Cristal beer during our visit and red wine in the restaurant. There was an abundance of lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage & carrots during our stay, but a shortage of fruit, especially papaya. The only other fruit available was watermelon. Lots of meat though and both grills were going lunch and dinner.||||There were many students working at the resort during our stay. They were well trained for their future in the hospitality industry. Lots of security personal too, which is always good. Very likely to return.

Good value for the money. My wife and I spent Christmas week there with our family and enjoyed ourselves. Remember, this is Cuba and they are still recovering from Hurricane Sandy's direct hit, so don't expect perfection. Package was all you could eat and drink, generally buffet but waiter service was available. The fresh fish at dinner was delicious. Special celebration including champagne and turkey dinner on Christmas Eve. We stayed in a spacious bungalow with a view of the sea. Water pressure was sometimes weak at peak periods of use during the day. You could spend all day at the beach or at either of two pools with bar or take a tour into Santiago de Cuba depending on the day of the week. At least one bar was always open. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Activities we did: large catamaran into Santiago, swimming, bicycle riding, running, hiking in the hills, mingling with the local people, SCUBA diving, nightly entertainment.

We just returned from this resort. It was our first time ever to Cuba. the people are wonderful the food was not too bad not what we are use to but we didn't starve either. Great weather the entire week. The rooms that we had weren't good at all. We had two different rooms the first one there were issues, the second wasn't much better but at least the bathroom worked correctly. would we return yes we would but next time we would get a bungalow

This was our second time staying at Amigo Carisol Los Corales, previously 3 years ago. We said we would never return due to a variety of issues but decided to anyways because of the $650 price tag. Im glad we gave it another try, this time was much better! We had a great week!!! We stayed on the Carisol side in a suite which was nice and big. They say the suites are renovated, although the decor appeared it was from the 90’s , but I do think the bathrooms were redone in last few years. The suites were clean, big, comfortable and a nice upgrade. After seeing the bungalows on Los Corales side i would say they have a better ocean view and are closer to most resort amenities then the suites, but I have to say the suites were great. Carisol side is perfect for those wanting solitude, and we did enjoy! We pretty much had the buffet and pool to ourselves, where as the Los Corales side was more lively and had daily pool activities and night shows... its only a 10 minute walk over and we did enjoy a mix of the two sides. The food was so much better this time than a few years ago, and the pizza bar on Los Corales side was delicious. The staff were fantastic and attentive to guests needs. The hotels looking a bit old and tired but for a good price its worth a visit as long as you go expecting a basic 3 star. The beach is terrible, not what its like in other parts of Cuba...It’s rocky and full of seaweed. The pools were always clean and lots of chairs available on Carisol side, but Los Coralis could use more chairs. There are many wild dogs and horses wandering around the resort which adds to the charm you don’t see elsewhere. The hotel also offers a Free day trip to Santiago on Saturdays which is well worth it but book upon arrival to get a spot! We had a great family vacation and give praise to the staff! A special shout out to Juan at the Carisol Pool bar and Amelia for organizing our A la Cart meals and attending to anything we needed. I will say the A La Carts were some of the best meals Ive had at any resort in Cuba!! Overall a wonderful week, clean comfortable accommodations, decent food, the best Pina Coladas in Cuba, and fantastic employees who go out of their way to please guests. If the price is good, you enjoy somewhere off the beaten path, you go expecting a basic 3 star, you dont need a good beach, and you want a relaxing week then this is the place for you! Thanks to Amigo Carisol Los Corales for making our family vacation an enjoyable one!
