Dining on Grand Canal, across from Basilica Santa Maria was quite an experience. Delicious, high quality food and immaculate service. If you expect massive dishes, like most average American tourists in the reviews, there are other restaurants available. This is for beauty and quality. Hemingway risotto was 10/10.

This is an Icon of gastronomy an glamour. You must visit if you are vacationing in Venice! What an amazing staff, great and chic atmosphere! And of course the food is incredible!! Beautiful views of the city of love!

Fine dining on the Grand Canal - a treat on your trip. Located in the Gritti Palace Hotel, this restaurant offers old school fine dining vibes with incredible views, including the huge-domed Basilica Santa Maria della Salute. The food was very good (fried artichokes and sea bass) to excellent (spider crab and Hemingway risotto). The amuse bouche was a tartar of beef - extravagant but didn't impress. We skipped dessert but was still presented with a trio of sweets - a fine way to send off the guests. The friendly service clicked like a clock as various servers brought menus, water, wine, bread and food. We were never rushed and enjoyed the experience fully.

I had lunch at the Gritti Terrace which is outdoor seating. I’m assuming it’s apart of this establishment since the menu is listed online. The food was good. It didn’t knock me off my feet but overall good food. Drinks were amazing! I think I had 4 cocktails. The view is really peaceful..except when the gondoliers start yelling at each other. But after tuning them out you can really enjoy a beautiful lunch. I will say the service was absolutely phenomenal. From walking in the door till the moment I left, the staff was friendly and accommodating. I had a little trouble finding the place. Just kept walking until I seen the scenery then there was a small sign at the entrance. Overall enjoyed it and would definitely recommend as an experience.

Google
I didn’t fully research this menu before dining here. For the price, I’d expect them to have more options. There was only 1 meat option and 1 fish option. Minimal seafood and poultry options. There were other random things on the menu including Foie Gras, Eel and Raw Scallops that aren’t exactly items I care to eat. The ambience and service were amazing. I expected incredible Italian food in combination with a gorgeous location and backdrop. I wouldn’t recommend this place as it doesn’t embody “Italian Cuisine” and I probably wouldn’t dine here again unfortunately.

Google
The finest dining in all of Venice. Nothing is compromised, everything is of the highest quality & the timing of the service and politeness of the staff was perfect. Every dish is meticulously put together like pieces of art. Sometimes you may receive a surprise from the chef. Even the olive oil for the bread was unique. We look forward to our next meal here, it was definitely an experiance to remember. Thank you Venice & the staff of Club Del Doge :)

My bf prepared the surprise of this restaurant for me because of the amazing view. However…. The partition blocks all the view of the canal, the Basilica across from the restaurant didn’t light up too… so in the comparison to what we see on the Internet, it’s completely different, which is very sad. I believe most of people coming for it. Not having much appetite after seeing what the restaurant literally looks like… only order 2 dishes for each. The starters are very good. I will consider it very expensive because the price is the same comparing to other Michelin restaurants but the food isn’t as great as it. Maybe we shouldn’t come in an early November. Probably need to try in a daytime for cocktails. Service on the other hand is extraordinarily good, but here also charged 14€ for service per person. It’s still very pity that the view looks very valueless… with this price.

Truly amazing! Absolutely breathtaking. I had booked the reservation on the day of my arrival. Unfortunately due to connecting flight issues we arrived much much later than I anticipated. I called and they were very accommodating and pleasant. Luckily they were able to move my reservation to the next day. Well worth it! We were fortunate to have good weather at lunch which allowed for a lovely view from the terrace. Food was superb and staff was very pleasant. All around great experience I highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a very classy establishment, and it knows it. You're going to get that feeling that you're in an old members only club. Everyone is exceedingly crisp and polite - to the point where it almost feels like they're trained not to say no to any request you make. Service was wonderful and friendly and they easily accommodated our request to take our photo (I'm sure it happens all the time - it was our honeymoon so we wanted to make sure to get pics for our families of our last dinner here). My husband's stomach was upset so he actually ordered only a ceasar salad from the lunch menu which they easily accommodated for him. I chose the Cacio a Pepe because I'd been dreaming about having it since we arrived. It was delicious and peppery and portion was small but perfect. I also ordered a tiramisu to finish the meal and it was delicious. Enjoyed our view at this beautiful and relaxing spot and enjoyed the impeccable service here. They have some very old-world Venetian classics on the menu here and you can rest assured they're prepared with the best quality ingredients. It is super pricey but worth it if you're looking for a fancy date night meal. (Note - in Venice, most places charge a "cover" for service/location/etc. and this is no exception at 14 euros per person on top of your meals)

Yelp
Constructive Criticism: We have none. I wouldn't change a thing about this restaurant. Quality of Food, service, ambiance, presentation, etc was impeccable. Some restaurants in Venice on the Grand Canal are not the best food and they rely on location to draw customers in but this restaurant at the Grand Canal entrance doesn't cut any corners! Amazing!

Yelp
Excellent dinner and phenomenal service. Try to get a table on the patio to enjoy the views of the canal. Dinner for two with a bottle of wine and cocktails was about $500 USD, so be prepared, but for a unique experience, we had a great time.

Yelp
A very clubby, "Old World" feel. Painted wooden beams for the ceiling. Service and food were excellent, except it took 20 minutes to get the bill after I first asked for it then However, and I don't know what the staff could have done about it, but there were two extremely loud children two tables over from mine. The couple at the next table asked to be moved to another part of the restaurant. It might have been the plan all along, but I noticed that diners arriving later were all seated on the far side of the restaurant. Servers were talking about it when the little terrors finally left. The atmosphere made it very difficult for me to enjoy my meal, which was my most expensive one during this trip to Venice. Knowing the disruption that was created, perhaps the restaurant could have at least removed the 14 euros cover charge from my bill.

Yelp
Amazing time here, excellent service, 5 star to be exact. This dinner was very romantic with my wife. Amazing wine list and if you need help they have someone to help. The food was amazing. Overall great spot!

Yelp
I would have given 5 stars if not for a couple of issues. We were seated in a different table then we requested and once explaining this to the Maitre d he replied that he had seen that request on our reservation but just left it at that. We had to ask 3 times to be moved to the requested table, they finally moved us knowing we weren't giving up. The food was very good specifically the Sea Bass, we also ordered 3 Souffle's at the beginning of dinner so they had time to made then at the end of dinner they brought 1 tiny Souffle no mention why only one. Then we waited a good 40 minutes waiting for the bill after telling our waiter we had a Ball to attend since it was Carnival and he just keep avoiding the table. This is pretty common in Europe regarding a check but it was excessively long for a small restaurant knowing we were on a time crunch. our dinner took 3 1/2 so just make sure you a lot enough time if you have plans after dinner.

Yelp
Best meal of my life. Not kidding, my life. If you're looking for a place to splurge for dinner in Venice, make it this place. From start to finish everything was amazing. Pristine service, our server was actually pretty funny with the timely jokes. We had came for dinner on a cold night so didn't eat outside, but being on the canal was still magical. Started with the Beef Tartare, beautiful presentation and surprisingly so deliciously paired with the other unique ingredients. Had the matt wheat spaghetti next, so buttery and delicious I was upset I had to share it with my boyfriend. SEA BASS. SEA BASS. SEA BASS. Most amazing sea bass of my life, we actually didn't order sea bass for the rest of our trip because we knew it wouldn't compare. It's also fun watching them present it and debone it for you. Then be super liberal with that sauce, it just kicks it up to the top notch. Ended with the Candied Rhubarb, even though my stomach was about to pop we could not stop. These funnily looked like little dessert sushi rolls to me, I was not expecting the most delicious little cream filled bite.

Yelp
This review is for The Afternoon Tea service. I wasn't impressed with the afternoon tea spread. Don't get me wrong, the sterling silver was posh and the view of The Grand Canal was spectacular but the mini sandwiches and desserts was just alright. The cream tasted more like whipped cream and the desserts were only tarts. I guess I was expecting a variety of mini desserts.

Yelp
This is my second time doing at this restaurant and once again it did not disappoint. From beginning to end everything was exceptional. The best service out of any restaurant we have been to in Venice. There seemed to be one employee for every two guests. At no time did we want or need for anything. The food is spectacular, but as for typical high end restaurants the price is expensive and the portions are small. I do not eat seafood so my options were limited.
google avatar

Yelp
Best soufflé, great service. The meal itself is fine, the high price is for the ambience overlooking the lagoon and parade or gondolas, the service and for being at the Gritti. The dishes are all prepared well, but not something that is so above others to justify the price. BTW, the menu with price is given to the "guy" in the party, which in the modern age may be chauvinistic. The other menus have descriptions sans the price of the dish. Used to see this more often, but almost never see this practice anymore. But since most diners seem to be of the jet set and oligarch crowd, this may not be a huge issue.

Yelp
This place is outstanding for breakfast. If I was rating it on breakfast alone I would give it five stars. The buffet covers all the bases for a Continental breakfast: extremely fresh fruit, great cuts of meat, pastries, you name it. And fresh squeezed orange juice that's pretty great. Also, if you're an American looking for eggs (scrambled or poached) or pancakes with real maple syrup and candied pecans, or cereal, they've got you covered with an outstanding ala carte menu as well. (Also as a bonus they have a great assortment of high quality jams). The service is also outstanding (at both breakfast and dinner). They are appropriately friendly and attentive. If weather permits and you end up eating on the deck, wow. One of the best restaurant views on San Marco. My disappointment was with dinner. I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't as good as I expected for a place with entrees starting at 59 euros. The beef fillet was slightly tough and more like a roast. Honestly it was off. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be a "filet mignon" but they should be a little more clear about that. Especially with a large American clientele. My daughter had the cheeseburger which I also sampled. It is really great that they try to make it easy for American kids by offering cheeseburgers and breaded chicken cutlets, but again the cheeseburger execution was really bad. The meat is ground too finely and then packed too tightly. It's like eating a tough meatloaf. The bun was also very tough. Service, though, was even more attentive than breakfast. The crew was observant and always there to meet your needs. Because this restaurant is at a nice and very, very expensive hotel, and because we had such a great breakfast experience there, maybe I was expecting too much from the dinner. But I don't think so. If you're going to serve a premium product at premium prices, you have to execute the food flawlessly. My four star rating reflects the deficiencies with the dinner offerings that I tried.

Yelp
My husband and I ate our way through Italy and ended our trip in Venice... We dined at the highest rated establishments in Rome, Tuscany and Florence and this was the finest meal we ate with an absolutely unforgettable view. The sommelier willing took me on a tour of the kitchen where the serving crew did taste testing and discussed wine pairings and could not have been more kind and willing to share the inside track of their menu selections. We ate at multiple tourists traps in Venice and had meals that wear out rated by a jar of marinera and boxed pasta... We have traveled quite a bit and this dinning experience is my favorite to date. We will return with my parents in the near future. If you are in Venice- this is a must.

Yelp
Amazing, a must, We went to a number of Michelin restaurants yet this made my trip. A must during sunset, get a bottle of wine, a couple of dishes. Wow.

Yelp
One of the best meal and memories from Venice was at Club del Doge. We made reservations for lunch, but the restaurant was empty. It's located in a hotel so just walk through the lobby or through the bar next door. We had our choice of seats and we picked the ones right next to the canal, the weather was just perfect. The tables do have a glass wall (for the wind I suppose), but you're as close to the water as possible. It's a bit expensive for lunch; however we thought it was worth it. They have a very professional staff and the food was just wonderful. We had a great time watching the gondolas/water taxi while enjoying a delicious meal.

Yelp
For a fabulous dinner with an incredible view, look no further than the Club del Doge. We had a very late dinner around 10pm and sat on a beautiful table right on the water. Service was exquisite. We requested a dry white wine and the waiter was very helpful and happy to point us towards an inexpensive but excellent wine. My husband and I shared the parmesan risotto with truffles and the sea bass. Both were drool worthy. The risotto was creamy, rich and topped with truffles. The fish was one of the best I've ever had. It was thick, and I loved the roasted cherry tomatoes, potatoes and olives that came along with it. Their tiramisu for dessert was perfect. It was such a pleasure to eat at this historic hotel and while prices are not cheap, it was worth it for the experience.

Yelp
What a great venue, locations, and views. It was a perfect night. The wine list is excellent. The service was also great. We both selected items from the main menu and we each picked a pasta from the special white truffle menu. The pasta was quite boring actually (both of them). The rest of the food was decent, but nothing to write home about. Still a very pleasant evening!

Yelp
I had the most memorable birthday dinner at club del doge. Our table was outside on the grand canal...it was a perfect evening. Excellent service, excellent meal, great wine recommendation and chocolate soufflé and special birthday cake were amazing as well. The view and the atmosphere were absolutely impeccable!!! I loved the moment when the church bell rang across the grand canal during the dinner - it was super romantic;) if you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion - anniversary, birthday etc, this place is perfect. I highly recommend to dine here while in Venice!

Russ N.

Yelp
This review is about dinner at the hotel restaurant. However, I will say that our hotel stay was spectacular. We were both really skeptical about eating dinner here because the previous night we ate at a different upscale restaurant which fell flat on its face. We were very happy to find that the Gritti Palace does it extremely well. The staff was exceptional during dinner service, the mood was relaxing and romantic, and the setting was outstanding. Then we tasted the food. We were so relieved. If memory serves we had a risotto, a ravioli with truffle and beet root puree, the lamb with carrot, and the veal cheek. We finished with the tiramisu. Every dish had outstanding flavor and didn't sacrifice flavor for fussiness as so many places do. If the ingredient didn't have a purpose, it wasn't on the plate. I really can't express how pleased we were with this dinner. We'd go back in a heartbeat (and in fact, we will in a few nights!).

Yelp
What an amazing view. We enjoyed dinner with a bottle of wine in the outside seating area. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend making a reservation and visiting this restaurant while in Venice.

Krisena B.

Yelp
We were staying at the Gritti Palace Hotel and decided to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant. It's situated in the most picturesque setting in Venice, right on the Grand Canal. We were accommodated at a table right along the water, which made for some excellent people watching. We split a pasta and a sea bass, which was enough for both of us. They split the food in the kitchen for us, which was a nice touch. The food was good, but the view was outstanding. Would highly recommend this place for great service and excellent setting!

Amanda P.

Yelp
The sea bass and rissoto were exceptional and the view was spectacular. The woman working under our waiter was phenominal; the actual waiter was just ok. A bit pricey for the overall experience, but a wonderful dining experience nonetheless.

Yelp
We dined out more than a dozen times on our recent trip to Italy and this was by far the highlight. We could not have had a better table facing the Grand Canal. The service was excellent and the food even better. While it was expensive it really wasn't as expensive as I was anticipating. Dining outside at the Club del Doge is worth making the trip to Venezia by itself!

J H.

Yelp
Service and ambience is second to none. Our table was outside on Grand Canal on a perfect evening. Great wine recommendations and fabulous shellfish appetizer, fish and soufflé for dessert. Very expensive but when in Venice....
