On the Grid : Gardens Collectors Club

"The staff has all the sass you could ever need. “Oh you want to take photos, we have a a gorgeous barman!” It’s true. Aside from that, the open seating outside is welcoming and has an easy feeling, like you could get comfortable. Upstairs is more cosy with darker walls and eccentric but tasteful decoration. The food is big: Big burgers, big milkshakes and beer on tap. You can’t go wrong." - Yellow Door Collective

The experience was really good. Date night in the courtyard on a great summers evening. We shared the food, advised by the great waiter on what pairs well and had a lovely experience. Highly recommend. We had the salami pizzette, lamb and a fresh salad with a complementary starter. It was all good. We booked ahead via dineplan.

I had lunch at Club Kloof a while ago, and the interior has really stayed with me. The space is incredibly well put together bold red walls, great artwork, thoughtful lighting, and a strong mix of vintage elements that feel intentional rather than forced. It’s stylish without trying too hard, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You can see the attention to detail everywhere, from the furniture to the layout to how the natural light works in the rooms. It’s one of the most memorable restaurant interiors I’ve seen in Cape Town, and I’m looking forward to going back.

Came to Club Kloof for a birthday dinner. We were a very big group but we managed to squeeze at the table. Ally was our waitress and she was amazing, so friendly and fun!! The portions are pretty small but the food is really good! I had the Rosaline cocktail (the pink drink) which was delicious, I do recommend especially if you like sweet cocktails. The interior is beautiful too and I definitely want to come back, and hope to be served by Ally again. “Slay” 😌🥂

I have to say my favourite meal in Cape Town. All our dietary requirements were met with absolutely no issue and absolute ease! Ally was incredible our whole table was raving about her memory of all our meals! Probably the best gluten free pizza I’ve had out of Italy and the steak wow!

Such a great spot! Delicious food and wonderful service. Our waitress Tyra was exceptional. Will definitely be back. We had the pizzette, fillet, and tiramisu. All were fab.

I went on a review mission with this restaurant and read many different experiences from worst to best so I came here open minded about my expectations. We booked quite late in the day so understandably we had to be seated upstairs but I liked it actually with the more rustic feel. Our waitress was sweet and the food was really tasty :) We had the beef tenderloin, Garlic pizza, fried olives & heirloom tomato salad ending off with a Tiramisu 😮‍💨 standard wait time for our orders to arrive so no experience in delays. Overall a lovely experience. Our party of 3 left happy ☺️ Thanks Team

Food- multiple items were out of stock, bringing questions as to how fresh the food is. The flavors left a lot to be desired. Our beef fillets came out cold, one came out about 30 minutes after everyone had already had a chance to eat. The seasoning was lacking on every dish we tried. When the broccoli is the star of a steak dish- there are problems. We were told the order couldn’t be removed as “it was almost done”. The drinks were tasty, but overpriced for what they were. It took 1.5 hours to get food orders in while the focus was put on a group of 8 that were seated at a much more spacious table. Speaking of “out of order dishes”- we were brought one they could suddenly make one of. We thought this was done as a courtesy for the multiple failures. Nope- we were charged full price for the dish. Atmosphere- our party of 12 was booked months in advance. We were put at a table that would be adequate for 8 people. It was extremely uncomfortable the whole time. We barely had room to move and even the staff struggled to pass out food, leading us, as patrons, to assist. Cleanliness- we saw multiple LARGE cockroaches throughout our dinner “experience”. One crawled up a member of our party’s leg. This brought up questions as to what the kitchen may look like. When I went to take a photo there was massive panic from the staff who discouraged me snapping a photo. Don’t worry, though. When you go you’ll easily spot them as they’re 7 centimeters and fed better than the patrons. A visit to Gibson’s on the Water Front would’ve been a much better experience, in my opinion. Better quality food, better atmosphere, cheaper and a kitchen that wasn’t depleted of items due to poor planning. This was a reunion with family members and we couldn’t even adequately enjoy it. Uncomfortable, 3.5 hours to have dinner due to slow service and inattentiveness. Visitors beware. Spend your money elsewhere.

First time trying Club Kloof. Phoned at the last minute, but they accommodated us at the bar. Cocktails were good. I had the Paloma and the Club Kloof Spritz. We had a selection of small plates and they do fill you up eventually. I enjoyed the Mac n cheese Arancini and the gem lettuce salad. We tried two of their famed "pizettes“ and for me it was just ok. I found the chilli on the shredded lamb pizette quite overwhelming. The Bianca with mortadella was nicer but quite rich. These were are all small plates, and we were quite stuffed. So do with that what you will. Service was efficient and friendly. Atmosphere was quite moody, so moody in fact, I needed to use my phone’s a torch to read the menu. Please do something about the lighting.
