I have stayed at several Club Med resorts and have always recommended them—until now. Our 8-day stay in Guadeloupe was a disaster from start to finish.
It began the moment we arrived. The bag carriers broke one of our suitcases by lifting it by the lock. We had to show them the damage before they finally agreed to repair it.
Then came the cockroaches. On the first night, we found the biggest cockroach we have ever seen. By the second night, we had seen three more. They were coming through a large gap under the door. When we reported this to reception, we were told to “come back tomorrow” as no one could help at that moment.
The next morning, as I was opening the curtains a cockroach fell on me. I went to reception at 10 a.m., and we were assured someone would come to fix it. No one arrived until 10:30 p.m.—and their “solution” was to stuff a towel under the door. The problem was only properly fixed the following night.
Two out of our three rooms had leaking toilets, with water pooling behind them. On top of that, water was leaking from upstairs toilets into the corridors and bedroom areas. This is not just uncomfortable—it’s a hygiene hazard.
The food was a huge disappointment. We know Club Med for its variety and quality, but here the options were limited, repetitive, and well below standard.
Service? Disorganised at best. On our last day, we were told our bags would be picked up at 14:00, with our cab scheduled for 15:00. When 15:00 came, our cab was waiting—but our luggage still hadn’t been collected. This simply highlights the lack of organisation at the resort.
The entire property is run-down and in desperate need of renovation. Service levels are low, energy is non-existent, and staff morale seems poor across the board.
I raised my concerns with Louie, the manager, who was understanding and organised a €700 refund for one of our rooms. However, while I was speaking with him, the Head of the Village, Vincenzo, joined our conversation - not to address the issues, but to try to “lighten the mood” by telling us champagne was being served on the beach. This attitude sums up the experience: dismiss complaints and hope guests get distracted.
Other guests told us they left after just 48 hours, should (hopefully) secure a full refund, and went to a five-star resort next door before heading to Club Med in Martinique for the rest of their trip rather than stay here. They weren’t the only guests that weren’t impressed.
This is not Club Med. This is a tired, poorly run resort with pest problems, plumbing issues, bad food, and poor leadership. We left disappointed, frustrated, and feeling completely let down.
If you value your money and your holiday, avoid this Club Med until they overhaul the management, renovate the facilities, and restore the standards the brand is supposed to represent.
