Club Med Les Boucaniers - Martinique

I recently stayed a few days at Club Med Les Boucaniers and unfortunately left disappointed. My experience started poorly even before check-in, during an attempt to purchase a day pass. Several front desk staff were rude and condescending, particularly Carinne (not certain of exact spelling), who scolded me for arriving before 10:00 a.m., insisted I sit where I could be monitored, and refused to answer basic questions about my upcoming reservation. She repeatedly claimed I had no reservation, refused to look at my confirmation number, and suggested I had mistaken the island I was on. After purchasing the day pass, no orientation or rules were explained (other than when to leave), and I later discovered restrictions such as not being allowed to get towels. Staff and GO’s were also noticeably less welcoming once they saw the day-pass bracelet versus a regular GM bracelet.||||When I officially checked in, I again dealt with Carinne, who was just as dismissive and provided no welcome information. Overall she was rude and condescending. The front desk also failed to mention that my room was on a second floor with no elevator, despite my mobility issues. Thankfully, Serene and Jesus at reception were wonderful and a stark contrast. Food quality was another major disappointment—far below the standard I’ve experienced at other Club Meds. Buffet options were limited and repetitive, especially at lunch, and the à la carte restaurant served food that was largely inedible, a sentiment shared by others at my table.||||On the positive side, the GO’s were fantastic and truly the highlight of the stay. The water sports were excellent, especially kayaking, paddleboarding, and windsurfing. Chloe and Cesar led a memorable sunset paddle apero, and a private windsurfing lesson with Mathieu was exceptional. Tom and the chef du village were always visible, friendly, and engaging with guests. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but clearly run down, with broken tiles, missing shutters, burnt-out bulbs, and a broken safety deposit box.||||Be aware there is major construction ongoing until late 2026, starting as early as 7–8 a.m. and audible throughout the day, especially near the beach, water sports, and outdoor restaurant areas. Given the premium price and no adjustment for this disruption, the stay felt like poor value. ||||Overall, while the GO’s and activities shine, there are better alternatives on the island offering similar services at a better price point.||||

We are use to staying in five star facilities while the club med facilities and food are four star. However when one considers its superb beachside location. We are Americans and even with the recent devaluation of the US dollar the price for our stay was very reasonable, or should I say a bargain. We very much enjoy snorkeling and there was good snorkeling right in front of the facilities.

This is a lengthy review as this is a very unique resort. I am someone who travels extensively and frequently, and have had many experiences in the 4 star and 5 star range of Caribbean resorts on various islands. This resort is a mixture of some good and not at all up to par. It should be noted, for the expensive price of this resort, the service is shockingly poor. I was not expecting butler service but I certainly wasn’t expecting to be treated so poorly by the wait staff in the restaurants. They were outright rude and would raise their voice at you and I even had a juice cart intentionally rammed into me rather than to say excuse me. They treat you like an inconvenience and I have been here for 4 days and have not experienced one nice restaurant staff. If you are expecting quality customer service, you will be sorely disappointed. As an English speaking Canadian, they refused to even attempt to speak English and I was happy we knew enough French to get by. As a manager, I would fire a significant amount of staff here for their blatant disrespect of the visitors. To honest, we have only met a couple of tourists who speak English, 90% of people are French or French Canadian and the culture is not one of manners, kindness, or warmth. I have been walked into, pushed and people just physically jump lines at the bar and for food. We continue to be friendly despite our treatment. We are travelling with friends and we are all shocked at how we are being treated. A couple of bar staff, lifeguard, and a handful of others have been nice to us.|The resort property is large. Across from the plantation buildings (quiet side), where our rooms are, there is a narrow stretch of beach in front of it. No bar, no Wi-Fi and no bathrooms. Great place to visit for a couple of hours but not to stay for the day. There is one large pool that is nice and there seems to be plenty of chairs to choose from. Again, the bathrooms are not beside the pool and you have to walk across the patio area and through the bar to get to the bathrooms. There are no pool bars or beach bars and it’s a bit of a hike by the lobby to get dry towels. There is a bar in the main building and a bar about a 10 minute walk down the beach. they are very strict on their meal times and there are no snack bars to get snacks throughout the day. There’s one buffet restaurant and one à la carte with very set mealtimes. I will say the food is varied and has been very good. If you’re looking for blender drinks, you’re not likely to find any. It’s mostly just drinks with ice in it. If you’re looking to be served coffee at your table at breakfast, everything is self service. I would say this resort is very camp like, quite tired looking. The rooms have been somewhat updated. Air conditioning works great in the rooms and the cleaning staff are really doing a good job. It is a clean resort and well kept. The lobby is not what you would expect. Several Buildings are wood like with zero opulence (if that’s what you are looking for). The Village Chief (Siad) walks around and talks to visitors with his protege (Tom). Both are very nice and we shared our concerns with him. We still have 4 days to go so we will see if our experience improves.|For the same price, we can stay at a much fancier resort with butler service, beach/ pool bar service and room service. We would not return or recommend this hotel due to the terrible treatment from staff, how far it is to walk to get towels and drinks, only 2 public washrooms on the whole resort (none near the main buffet), and it being completely self serve everything. I prefer resorts that offer towels by the pool or beach, bars close by, all day snacks (if hungry), kind treatment, and bathrooms near beach, pool and restaurant. I don’t think we are hard to please but this has been an expensive disappointment. We are making the best of it because it offers a lovely beach and good food.

Really enjoyed the day pass here for 121 euros. The hotel is a bit dated and the food was pretty good. Limited services outside of the bar. We have stayed at other club meds and they have much better food and activity schedules. Day pass dos not include towels or snorkeling so bring your owns stuff.

The Club is well situated. The beach is clean and swimming is pleasant. No danger of jellyfish. BUT the biggest issue is mosquitos and “yenyens”, a type of sand flee. I was bitten head to toe despite recommended precautionary measures. |Staff are super friendly and made my stay very pleasant. Mille Merci Lucie, Melanie, Margaux, Amel, Arthur, Owen, Guillaume. |The club has two restaurants. One is only by reservation for dinner. The other one is buffet style. I loved the avocado smoked salmon toast for breakfast at the L’Ô, the beach restaurant. Merci Karine in the kitchen who shared her recipe so graciously. |Overall I had a fun vacation but unfortunately I cannot say I will be back any time soon because of my unpleasant experience with all the bug bites.

Once again Club Med was at the top! We loved every second of our trip. We want to extend our sincere thanks to the entire team, special thanks to the front desk team and Owen. The location is perfect, there is a wide variety of activities and food. Service is truly exceptional.

Awesome resort with amazing food, super clean with great rooms. Staff were very friendly and the European clients outnumbered the Canadians!|Yoga with Magali Azzouz was an excellent start to day everyday. The beach, snorkeling, weight room, food, entertainment were all excellent.

It's Kim Possible again, after another wonderful vacation with the sailing team at Club Med Les Boucaniers. Every year my wind surfing skills progress thanks to the careful attention of the team. This year my private instructor (yes, I wanted private lessons in addition to the included lessons) was Paul, and he really got me to the next level. Thanks Paul! The team leader was Matthieu, and he was personable and kept all the activities running smoothly - balancing English and French speakers, and tricky equipment issues. A shout-out too, to the life guards who cycled through the sailing shack. I loved their aqua gym classes - held alternatively in the pool and at the beach. The location is breathtaking and the winds are just right for both beginners and advanced surfers and kiters!
