We accidentally stumbled upon this resort in February, 2024 and just HAD to come back. It is beautifully situated at the base of the Newport/Jamestown bridge in a very peaceful location with wonderful walks around State Parks on the coast and a short drive to beautiful Narragansett Beach, and a few minutes over the bridge and you're in Newport with their quaint shops, impressive Mansions and exhiliarating Cliff Walk. My only wish is that they had at least some rooms with a King size bed (Queen size only) and a kitchen. However, each room does have a good size pull out couch in addition to the Queen size bed and there is a fridge/microwave/coffee maker and great restaurants nearby. Would come back a million times!!

My favorite hotel I've ever stayed in by far! I wish I could've stayed there again while the weather is still nice but they're booked.. which is not surprising! The pool is beautiful with the best view! A great restaurant built right in, expensive but really good! And the staff was the best! By far the nicest hosts that went out of their way many times to help me with certain things! Love this place! 100/100! Will be back and I really look forward to it!

Google
This was the perfect location for a nice romantic getaway. The resort was clean, the staff was friendly, and the location was great with quick access over to Newport. The restaurant had the best clam chowder and all the restaurants that we ate at all week long.

Jamestown is beautiful island to stay while visiting RI. I'm originally from RI and come up to New England every year. The Bay Voyage was comfortable and the staff was great. The restaurant, JB's on the Water, has seasonal and exceptional menu choices. We ate there 3 times and every item was delicious.

Google
This place is five star. Excellent. Very nice kept rooms, excellent service, excellent atmosphere with an absolutely killer view. The restaurant attached to the Inn is a must while visiting. The area is very quiet in Serene with lovely small fishing village to shop in and walk around.

Google
I love this quaint Inn! The location is fantastic, just a short boat ride away from Newport, so you do not need to drive there…One of my favorite restaurants is in Jamestown, Beech Restaurant- a must go to restaurant! Waterfront rooms have a beautiful view, with the boats in the harbor and the Jamestown Bridge in the background! The Bay Voyage Inn has a pool, which is also, so convenient. The Bay Voyage Restaurant is located right on the property with beautiful views and always seems to be quite bustling. |Isabelle, at the front desk, is what makes the Bay Voyage Inn run so smoothly…I have seen Isabelle- several times, handle a few situations at once and always remained so professional and pleasant/personable, even when other guests were not so polite…Isabelle is a great asset to the Inn!! |I recommend the Bay Voyage Inn- convenience- location- and the staff -

Google
This was a fantastic vacation location and resort. We visited in early April so it was still very quiet and peaceful. The view from our room was spectacular and the balcony was perfect. There is a nice, quiet beach just up the road and a beautiful lighthouse only a few miles away. It's about 15 minutes from Newport so you're removed from the business and yet close enough to head into Newport for lunch or dinner. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful stay!

We had lunch there. Service and food were good. We did not stay at the Inn as we were there for just a day.Locsyion was easy to find.

Yelp
The desk service was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable with a first level balcony view of the waters (be still my ocean loving heart and count my blessings). This was my first trip to Rhode Island & I tried to book directly in Newport, however it was very full. Jamestown did not disappoint and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to visit this area and enjoy the experiences it has to offer. Even off season, we found driving in Newport to be rather stressful so we balanced our adventures with a lot of nature and views outside of the hustle. It also afforded me the opportunity to plan if I would stay in Newport and how best to navigate enjoying al it has to offer via the trolly system.

Yelp
Such a pretty spot jn Jamestown. Ive stayed here, eaten here and have attended a wedding and a shower here. Heck at one point I even worked here. Public restrooms are downstairs from the lobby. Great views of the bridge, beautiful pool and great restaurant on site. A quick walk to the "heart" of downtown Jamestown.

Yelp
Off season review. Great location. Great view. Nice restaurant (JB's). Nice staff. Proximity to Newport (if you want that).

Yelp
This was our 9th anniversay stay at Bay Voyage Inn, and I have to say, this was the best it's ever been for quite a few reasons: 1) The entire front desk staff went way above the call of duty to serve us, including rearranging our messed up reservation (entirely our fault) and making it possible to have a wonderful long weekend stay. Thanks especially to Wendy and Aron--who left a delicious treat for us to make up for all of our stress checking in--which, I repeat--was ENTIRELY our fault. 2) Our spacious and very clean suite was right across from much improved daily coffee. Last year I complained they needed an upgrade--and guess what? They did it. And now their cup of joe is better than what we usually wait for at Slice of Heaven in town. 3) Our view of Newport Bridge and our balcony was sweet as ever. 4) The restaurant has also improved a lot. We enjoyed an arugula salad and pizza the first night, and it was wonderful. At the end of our stay, we stopped in for dessert, and the cheesecake took the cake, over my chocolate mousse cake, which was more of a chocolate pudding. The front desk promised to check on ingredients for me and assure had not been Canola. You know that's my personal goal, to rid us of that very bad oil. But, some of our outside meals were so disappointing this trip, we really might as well have just parked at BVI's eatery and enjoyed more of their good menu. Thanks so much for making our 37th memorable.

Yelp
Great location! Beautiful little city. Room is clean and equipped with microwave, fridge and sofa bed. The staff were great!

Yelp
Myself, husband, and two friends had a great experience at Club Wyndham in Jamestown RI! We were there for a friends wedding and happened to be staying in Newport for a few days prior to our check-in. We arrived to Club Wyndham prior to our scheduled check-in time and was greeted by Isabelle at the front desk. She was SO kind + beyond helpful! We thought maybe it would be way too early to get in and would be stuck with our bags but were so thankful that Isabelle was able to accommodated us so quickly! We were so thankful, not only did she get us in early but we also had an incredible water view! Throughout our stay we had great experiences with all of the staff and the location is unbeatable! An easy + short walk to Narraganset Ave and it's a gorgeous walk along the shore. Thank you Isabelle and all the staff at Club Wyndham Jamestown for your above and beyond customer service and amazing first time in Jamestown, we'll be back! :)

Yelp
I highly recommend this Wyndham location in Rhode Island, the views are picturesque, they have a roomy parking lot and an amazing restaurant with an amazing view right down stairs with really great food and service. I booked my stay to Wyndham bay voyage inn online with my grandfather who is a Wyndham club owner, because of his inability to travel far he often tells me to use the points. There was a glitch in the online system, informing me and another owner there was a room available, when there was only one. Sadly the other owner made it there before me and my fiancée. They emailed and called before we arrived but we weren't able to be informed directly because I had no cell reception as we were driving all the way from Miami. But! The amazing manager, Darcy O'Rourke, did everything in her capability, went above and beyond to assure our stay was still amazing, which it absolutely was! We ended up being given a room at Wyndham Newport overlook, which is more like small apartments and definitely a great option for larger families! And spent the next night at this location. Darcy O'Rourke also gifted us champagne and chocolate for me and my fiancée's anniversary! Which was so unexpected but extremely thoughtful and highly appreciated. We have already highly suggested this location to family members whom will be doing a similar trip as us next year.

Yelp
The Bay Voyage Inn's amazing views of the Newport Bridge make up for the service mistakes and food presentation. Our waiter, although really friendly, completely messed up my date's drink order and forgot to put in our order of calamari when we originally asked for it. I ordered a glass of Riesling, my date ordered a glass of Pinot Noir. The waiter walks over with two glasses of white wine. Try again! When my date informed him that he had ordered Pinot, the waiter returned five minutes later with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Foiled again! I chuckled and kindly informed the waiter that it was Pinot Noir - RED, not WHITE! I jokingly then said, "you can leave the Pinot Grigio if you want." He laughed and said ok. I mean, what were they going to do? Pour it back in the bottle? I really thought we wouldn't be charged for the mistaken glass of wine, but to my dismay, we were!! The Fried Native Calamari (smoked tomatoes, piccalilli dressing, sea salt) were fresh and yummy! I feasted on the Sautéed "Day Boat" Scallops (toasted orzo, English peas, spring greens, mint). There is nothing more appealing than a perfectly grilled scallop - why hide it with spring greens? I think the presentation of this dish could be a little better. Show off your sautéed scallops! Don't hide their deliciousness! They tasted divine! Mmmm. My date ordered the Grilled Porterhouse Steak (charred radicchio, arrugla, parmesan, cabernet gastrique). Instead of medium well done, the steak came out mooing. Not impressed. He sent it back to the kitchen to cook a little longer, but the initial introduction to this porterhouse was clearly disappointing. Be sure to ask to sit next to the windows or outside! The view is romantic and amazing! Unfortunately, the Jamaican/Caribbean music that played in the background the entire meal didn't really match the ambience of Bay Voyage Inn. "Anything Goes" by Wayne Wonder was playing when we paid the tab. I would definitely give this place another shot - I think I'll venture there again for brunch.

Yelp
Family get together at the Bay Voyage on a Saturday night, a party of 12. Service was terrible, management was absent and the waiter's demeanor and performance let us know he had better things to do. The table was not bussed, dirty plates and glasses were just left there. The menu was obscure, small and beyond the means of the apparently flacid cooking staff. The item at the top of the menu was "Skate", WTF? (http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/SeafoodWatch/web/sfw_factsheet.aspx?gid=73) My wife's $19 salad came with some curry dressing instead of the balsamic she ordered and was small, my niece never got her french fries, the baked stuffed lobster was stuffed with what appeared to be crab salad (think tuna salad, not a bread stuffing), a salmon dinner was cold, a calamari starter was also cold, the list goes on and on. Portions were small and expensive. We are all from Jamestown but had not been at the Bay Voyage for over 30 years. We should not have broken our record.

Yelp
Come for the Sunday Brunch. Seriously, it is DELICIOUS. Trays and trays of delicious eggs, veggies, fish, salads, and desserts, plus omelette, prime rib, and belgian waffle stations. There are beautiful water views and the staff is friendly and attentive. Bay Voyage has a lot of history in Jamestown (the building actually sailed across Narragansett Bay about 100 years ago) and is a great place for a special occasion dinner or brunch (I have had great experiences here for Mother's Day, birthdays, and graduations) and would also be awesome for a small wedding reception!

Jeff M.

Yelp
The landmark hotel circa 1860 is a fixture of Narragansett Bay and has a great view of the Jamestown harbor. As for the restaurant; if you're looking for a polite Sunday brunch for 12, or you like to party like every day is Mother's Day, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I'd skip it.

Alan L.

Yelp
This place is a-ok at best. I am the Wyndham timeshare owner and I booked it for two nights. This resort is old and the kitchen has everything but a stove. We brought food to cook so we could stayed in and enjoy my time here. I left after one night and would never come back again.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
This resort has the worst management ever - very mean and very unprofessionally run. The staff is very fake and seems to be scripted and fake...... my stay was the worst time that my family ever had and will never stay at this establishment again.....

David L.

Yelp
We decided to have Sunday brunch here at Bay Voyage Inn since Jamestown is on our way to Newport. Brunch price for adults is $29.95 and $11.95 for kids. Brunch includes a buffet selection of salads, smoked salmon, fruits and cheeses, omelette station, prime rib, hot breakfast and lunch entrees, pastries, desserts, juices, coffee and tea. Champagne and other alcoholic drinks are extra. Our table at the balcony overlooks the Jamestown Bridge and the Narragansett Bay. It was a very memorable brunch with good, plentiful food and fantastic views. Staff was friendly though sometimes works at a relaxing pace. Bottom Line: Their Sunday Brunch is good as a treat or to commemorate a special event. Reservations recommended.

Yelp
Restaurant's new owners are still learning/ Recently a local catering company assumed the restaurant in this timeshare and renamed Plantation. They have a great location, very good but not exceptional food and mid-point prices. The operators probably operate a very fine catering company, but they know nothing about running a fine restaurant. Service in November 2013 was just awful. When we could not get the waitress to get our check, I went to find the manager. He was sitting at a table having dinner with a class of wine ... and this was 7:30 PM. His body language told me he did not want to be bothered. Does he think a new restaurant runs itself?? The staff could probably do a fine job if they would simply get someone managing the place that knows how a restaurant (rather than a catered affair) works.

Jen H.

Yelp
Beautiful views, but that's about all. Customer service was horrendous. Took over an hour to check in, room was never cleaned, nor towels refreshed day 2. When asked for fresh towels the second day of stay was asked "you went through six sets of towels already?!" (what if I did?! I'm a paying customer! Not to mention it was a room of 4 people) Had to make my own pull out couch bed after being directed that sheets and pillows are in a closet. Give me a break! For the kind of money we spent, I'd expect better service.

Yelp
not worth the view! We recently worked a wedding here and were more than disappointed. The place is located just about on the water looking over the Newport bridge with beautiful views of sailboats coming in and out. The staff was attentive to the bride all seemed like it was off to a great start. The lay out of the function was a little odd, 2 separate rooms and with the lobby separating them (a small doorway connected the two rooms). the dance floor is small but this was a smaller wedding so that was ok. Here are my main issues. The couple were married at 5:30 and were seated for dinner at 6:30. The guests did not receive the main course until 9:00 pm! I also over heard the staff worrying about a wrong count for vegetarian meals (there was a large Indian attendance, all requiring vegetarian meals) the count was for 9 and their were 15 needed. Not sure who is at fault here but I read about a similar problem on google reviews before we came. As far as my experience here as a vendor, our meals were paid for by the couple. There was no place for us to sit and eat so we asked where we should go. A table was prepared in an office and being photographers, we were not so comfortable being away from the reception in case we missed something. We happened to be in the manager's office so we had a little time to chat with her. She was nice enough and told us a little history of the building. I mentions quite a few times how hungry i was and she got us some bread (the guest were now having soup and salad). The bread was rock hard but i ate it up anyway. at this point the DJ's were also starving and were given nothing. One of them took it into her own hands and walked into the kitchen herself asking for bread at least. This prompted the manager to explain to us that we are lucky to even be able to eat and we should know to eat before we came (I arrived at 4 pm and left my home at 2:30...really?). They couple PAID for our meals! We were finally served around 9 and the food was ok. I had mushroom raviolis. The portion was good, and it tasted ok. My second shooter had some sort of stuffed chicken. He had 1 small overcooked piece of chicken and a roasted veggie pile (which we didn't try). When i saw the Dj's chicken she had 2 large pieces that looked moister than my second shooters piece. because of the terrible dinner service, cake cutting was not until 9:50! We asked the DJ to please start the cake cutting at 9:30, as we were scheduled to leave at 10. The kitchen asked him to wait 15 more minutes! what difference would it make if the couple cut the cake then or later accept they would have had their photographer there? most venues cut the cake at salad service! aside from the horrible service the outside of the venue was pitch black! I know the economy it tight but turn on your lights! I took the bride and groom outside for some shots with the bridge in the background and we couldn't see coming down the stairs (the same set many guest used to exit the venue to the parking lot) I also went out to take a shot (similar to the one they use to advertise) of the entire building lit at night and realized NONE of the lights seen in their photograph were on! none on the porches that are exits and entrances! lucky none one was hurt!

Kathy Q.

Yelp
Stayed at Bay Voyage Inn over weekend and it was a great experience. The Inn is quaint, very well maintained and the recent upgrades to furniture made it very comfortable. We were in one bedroom suite deluxe and enjoyed looking at the bridge from the balcony. Staff is exceptionally friendly. Bill went out of his way to make sure all was good.

Jackelyn L.

Yelp
Confusing experience- I walked into the Wyndham on a winter Friday and was absolutely shocked. I came to check out the restaurant and two women were sitting on the couch in the lobby with feet up and a mess from bagels and coffee. One of the women goes 'do you need something?' That is when we realized the two women that should be behind the front desk were on the couches. Not a guest in sight these women acted like we bothered them. Attending the restaurant tomorrow so hoping the experience gets better. Wyndham I would fire your staff.

Yelp
Plantations by the Bay in the Bay Voyage Inn is the new place to be in Jamestown, RI. The owners have a fabulous catering business and this was a natural extension. We've been three times in recent weeks. On each occasions the service was terrific and the food was really done nicely. We have sampled both the mid-priced full menu and the Tavern menu tonight. Our first visit was a busy night. I had the seafood stew and my wife had braised shot ribs. Honestly, they were both so good we were eating each others dinner. Tonight we sampled the tavern menu. Amanda steered my wife to the mini pot Shepherd's Pie and I had the mini chicken pot pie. They were both awesome on a cold snowy night. The night ended with peach/blue berry cobbler topped with fresh whipped cream and mint leaf. This is now a regular stop for us. We are so fortunate to have this cozy place with the fabulous bay view.

Yelp
Bottom line is that there are better places to stay. I'll get into the issues with the hotel in the paragraphs below but these are my thoughts On he location itself. Lets face it, you go to the Newport area to see Newport. Please realize that this hotel is across a giant bridge that costs you $8 (round trip) and 20 minutes of your time. You have to pack up for the day and head on over thinking you have to pack everything you need - It feels like Its a day-trip. Now that you have arrived in Newport, good luck finding a place to park (or pay $20 to park in a lot). Obviously it would be significantly better to park (free) wherever you are staying and to have Newport at your doorstep. Downtown Jamestown is cute for the half hour it takes you to see it. The hotel is a 15 minute walk along the water which is beautiful but it isn't convenient. The hotel looks very quaint in pictures but it is rather dated and drab. Also, everything closes very early on the island. If you want to run out to get something past 8:00 you have to go all the way to Newport - with an $8 bridge toll! As for the hotel...first of all, it isn't a hotel. It is a timeshare. You are renting from a person that owns the unit. After jiggling the key for 2 minutes to get into our room, the following were our observations and comments: - It says it has a "kitchenette" but in reality, it has a wet-bar sink, tiny refrigerator, and microwave. These things are so often included in a standard hotel room. it does however have dishes that come in very handy. -The room smelled a little dank and musty. It was very dated and didn't feel very clean even though I am sure it was just cleaned. The bathroom looked relatively updated which was nice. Nothing fancy but it had a new sink and fixtures and a new toilet. - Very large and loud air conditioners (one in each room) hummed non stop for our entire stay. Also, do yourself a favor and get the bay side of the building. We got the last room available and it had a street view which was certainly not as enjoyable as the view of the water. - The swimming pool was sub par as well. It was dirty and needed some maintenance. Also, be aware that the depth markers on the wall were dangerously inaccurate. The deep end of the pool marked 6' was at least 8' deep and the the 5' area of the pool was well over my head and I'm almost 6' tall. Not that big of a deal but it could be an issue with kids. - The service was average but there were issues there as well. We had a 2 hour wait for a crib. I asked for dry beach towels and I was told that I had to pay to have fresh ones. What? have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous? This brings me to one of my last notes. The housekeeping does not clean your room like a regular hotel. They emptied our garbage and replenished toiletries. No new towels, no general cleaning, didn't make the bed. Very disappointing. - We didn't try the food there (no room-service btw) so I can't comment but we did try to eat there on Saturday night. They had a wedding so they shut down the kitchen. This could have been a major inconvenience but they didn't even mention it. What they should have done is provide you with some sort of coupon or voucher to get dinner in town for the inconvenience. finally, the last thing is that I booked it on-line on the page where it states that you get a 15% discount. I booked it and then found out it didn't apply the discount. I called them up and they couldn't do anything about it. I then tried to get the discount applied at the front desk when I was there and they couldn't do anything about it their either. I now have to follow up with their corporate customer service to see if they can refund the money. Bottom line is that your money is better spent across the water.

Yelp
AVOID THIS PLACE! I called a few weeks ago to inquire about Thanksgiving dinner, and was told the meal would be buffet-style with prime rib and "all the fixings" of a traditional holiday meal for $50 per person (though I later found out they lowered it to $35). I booked a party of five, and when we walked in our jaws dropped: the food selection was limited to a single table in the lobby, about the size of large continental breakfast area. Years ago, this place had an entire ROOM filled with carving stations and food tables. The "buffet" included make-your-own spinach salad with "antipasto," pre-sliced turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, brussel sprouts, green beans, and a fish dish. No prime rib. Total JOKE! There may have been cranberry sauce, but I never got to taste it because the food warmers were empty after each short line of guests wiped out what was clearly NOT ENOUGH FOOD. Whoever runs the restaurant had servers restocking the buffet, while simultaneously bringing out to-go orders (which looked more substantial than the buffet). The food area wasn't cleaned up between seatings and the table was literally covered with spilled food. One of my relatives was grossed out and she left hungry. Total ripoff. BAIT AND SWITCH!

Yelp
I went here Saturday night with some friends and the food , service and the view of the ocean is spectacular.Do your selfs a favor go here this summer and enjoy great experience .

Bob M.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time here this weekend. The staff was friendly, the view outstanding, the property well maintained. We loved our accommodations. The Inn has a terrific location. The pool was great. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

John n.

Yelp
The new restaurant is great! The food was perfect. I had the NY strip ($24) and it was cooked exactly as requested. A little on the expensive side but they have great deals during the week. Friendly staff and gorgeous views from the outside patio. I will definitely be coming back

Rick C.

Yelp
Before you die, visit the Bay Voyage for brunch! It's AMAZING! The atmosphere is wonderful...the food is mind-boggling! You'll return, I guarantee it!

Chez V.

Yelp
FINALLY...really good food in Rhode Island! We've been enjoying the dinners here for the past few months, and I must say, the new chef, who could probably be younger than my son, is outstanding! Food is always fresh, flavorful, and HOT! Can you imagine???? Kudos to the excellent kitchen staff! Will see you soon! Now, if you could only do something about the service???

Jim R.

Yelp
I took my elderly parents, wife and children there for what I was told was a very good brunch a few weeks ago as a treat . They said all that was available was 1pm reservation. When we arrived there was plenty of seating available. Food was pretty much all gone and what was left was disgusting and cold. A server carving the end of a little piece of roast beef guarded it as if he would get fired if it ran out before the brunch ended. Hostess told another guest that the brunch did not end at 2pm only seating of new guests. This brunch ended at 11am and everyone that came in after that got leftovers albeit for $30 a person. Service was non-existent. I wrote management a complaint to advise them of their shortcomings and I did not even get a response.

M K.

Yelp
My wife and I recently stayed here and "disappointing" doesn't begin to describe our experience. In spite of making paid-in-full reservations weeks in advance and receiving several emails from Wyndham letting us know how excited they were about having us, the hotel had no reservation on file for us when we arrived. I had to provide proof of the reservation and full payment before they said they could accommodate us. There was nothing "deluxe" about our "Deluxe Suite". Neither interior design nor housekeeping are strong suites of this establishment. Our room was uninviting and dirty. And a daily refresh service from the housekeeping crew seems to be hit or miss. The bedroom in our suite was far too small for the queen bed and furniture. For example, there was so little space between the foot of the bed and the chest of drawers that the drawers could not be opened more than about 8-10 inches. The same was true on the window wall where there were again only about 8-10 inches of space between the bed and the wall. Getting to and from the far side of the bed without stubbing a toe takes great care. Another surprise was the restaurant that was mentioned on the Wyndham web site, our reservation confirmation, and the sign hanging over the front door of the hotel. As it turns out, there's been no restaurant operating at this hotel since some time in 2012. At the time of our visit, it was still closed with no indication as to if or when it might re-open. The location is great both for its proximity to Narragansett Bay, Newport and the South County beaches. And we enjoyed the hospitality of several restaurants on the island. But, in the end, none of that was enough for us. Our room was so dirty and uncomfortable for us that we checked out a day early. We just couldn't stand it anymore.

Cheryl G.

Yelp
My husband chose this as our wedding place due to its reputation for good brunches. I will never set foot in there again. They did not follow my very specific menu choices AT ALL (garlic mashed potatoes were served as plain, rock-hard roasties; I --the bride --- had to ASK to get a second hors d'oeuvres, though we were paying freely by the plate, everyone who ordered the rib eye steak, no matter how they ordered it, got it bloody raw the first time, then rock hard and full of gristle the second. I actually choked hard enough to have to be hit on my second bite, which was my last. I wrote and complained to the management afterward, and they said they would send us a coupon for a free dinner there. That never happened. It was December and it was COLD in there. What else can I say? Only this: I couldn't wait to leave and get home from my own wedding! Skip it. Lots of money for very poor quality food, and I've lived in France and Germany, so yes I do know the difference.
