Just got back from spending 6 nights at the Bonnet Creek Wyndham in Orlando Florida. It is a beautiful resort with heated pools, lazy rivers (2), playground, multiple hot tubs scattered throughout, splash pad, and so much more. The grounds are very well maintained.
There is a lack of affordable eating places at the resort and lack of pool seating. There are grills and all the units have a kitchen so it is essential to either bring groceries with you or travel by car to a nearby grocery store. Otherwise, you will go broke eating at the resort. Also, there is a lack of seating around the pools. Although the resort has posted signs prohibiting the saving of seats, guests go out and put towels around the pools early in the morning to save the prime spots and then come back at their convenience. The resort has no way to stop this as most of the pools are unsupervised by a lifeguard. We walked from pool to pool looking for a space to sit with many, many seats unoccupied except for a towel. This is frustrating.
The lakeside views are nice, but if you aren't lucky enough to get those, the view is the parking lots. Also the lower floors have no view whatsoever and with the pools being open from 8 to 10 at night, it gets noisy.
The staff is extremely friendly,
Our unit was nice with just the bare essentials to cook with. Some pots and pans, a blender, toaster, and coffee maker are there. There are also other miscellaneous baking pans, etc. No condiments, spices, etc. except for a small salt and pepper shaker and 2 packets of coffee. Lots of plates, etc.
Enough laundry detergent to do 2 loads and enough dishwashing soap to do 2 loads. There is shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided, as well as one roll of paper towels and some toilet paper. A few dish towels are there, as well as bath towels. Please check on the price of any housekeeping services you might need.
The resort is close to Disney, but the shuttle is NOT free. It is confusing because if you are staying at the Wyndham Hotel which shares the resort, there is a free shuttle for those with the proper Wristbands,
Lastly, you will be asked (pressured) to do a scheduled tour of the resort in exchange for cash, tickets, another vacation. Unless you are seriously interested in owning a timeshare, save yourself 90 minutes or so of high pressured sales talk and simply enjoy your vacation!
Would I go back? Probably not, as the cost of this vacation made it a once in a lifetime trip.
