We had a lovely meal here, we went for starters, mains and deserts. All the staff and our waiter were super polite. The pumpkin soup was amazing, the Iberian ham was tasty although we preferred my partners main (duck with black wild rice). It felt like they put a real effort into the menu and the chef takes a lot of pride in their cooking. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a menu different to the usual ones you see in Lisbon and some very tasty food.

Google
Quaint place with a homey vibe. The food was excellent! Servings may be quite small for some but enough for the four of us. We highly recommend the following: > Seared Salmon (in teriyaki sauce) > White fish ceviche > Gnocchi with shiitake mushrooms > Octopus with rosemary, sweet potato puree Customer service was also great! Verdict: Highly recommended and would dine here again!

I like this place. Nice isolated backyard with tables, tasty food, friendly staff. I had lunch there but in the evening darkness it should be even better, with all these tent lights shining on. Great spot for romantic dinner occasions.

Incredible experience filled with amazing food & wine, charming ambient and music - picture an 18th century former family mansion in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood in Lisbon. Every dish, from the entrees to the dessert, was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully — Chef Ivan and his team made us feel right at home from the time we walked in. The Iberian black pork neck, ceviche and eggplant were absolutely delicious and only some of the highlights of the 2 nights we ate there. Great selection of vintage Portuguese wines. We enjoyed this place so much we went twice. Yes, it was that Good! We highly recommend Clube De Jornalistas if you want an authentic culinary experience while in Lisbon.

Google
What a warm and welcoming atmosphere at Clube de Journalistas. This is thanks in large part to two things, the wonderful staff, and the charming location. The staff greeted us at the door, and welcomed us by name (they knew!). They showed us to our table through the delightfully circuitous restaurant, and sat us near a large open window overlooking their courtyard. We were treated to complimentary sparkling wine and bread with olive oil. Follow this, each course was better than the one before. We would recommend this location to anyone who visits Lisboa!

We’re so glad we decided to visit on our last day in Lisbon — and even more glad we did! The food was absolutely perfect! We loved the roasted eggplant, white fish ceviche, and veal carpaccio. For mains, we shared black pork neck, fish of the day, and octopus with sweet potato purée. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Google
Brilliant experience at Clube de Journalistas. Food was delicious and had good size portions. The patio seating made for a lovely atmosphere and staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend trying any specials they have and the "cheese" ice cream!

Google
A very notable place . From the moment we arrived the hosts made us feel like family only special . Friendly welcoming hosts . The food was amazing, veal so tender and the blacked pork done to perfection . Desserts were served with a candle as we were celebrating a birthday. Hugs on the way out made tge evening even better . Highly recommend this hidden gem .

Yelp
Such a cool place, it's a bit away from the touristy area which makes it even better. You can take Bolt and get over to this area extremely quickly. We walked from Princepe Avenidad and it was around 30 min, it was pleasant and through the local neighborhood areas. The ceviche and the roasted eggplant is wonderful. The black pork neck was recommended and it was melt in your mouth tender. The items are flavorful and not salty. The octopus was not chewy and had a nice char to it. I just asked for a red wine from Porto and the waiter was friendly and suggested a nice glass. The chocolate soup and bacon egg custard were perfect desserts to end our very filling lunch. They also gave us a nice little glass of sparkling wine complimentary, as we sat down. All in all a really neat spot to check out!

Yelp
Amazing! Spectacular meal from start to finish. Tonight was the Natal special menu. We started with the delicately cured fish on an airy, crispy perfectly flavored rice cracker, moved onto the Christmas suckling pig on book choy and sweet potatos, and finished with the French toast with parsnip crema and pistachios. All of it was out of this world. This was accompanied by a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon and Sousão blend called Inferno that was also wonderful. We could not have had a nicer Christmas Eve. The friendliness and warmth of the staff was the cherry on top. We will be back!

Yelp
Found this restaurant thru Yelp and YT research and were blown away. This is a MUST GO TO if you get to Lisbon. So far the best meal we have had in our trip and can't imagine another place will beat it. Reservations are required - we got ours 2 weeks in advance. First off - calling it a restaurant is a bit of a misnomer - feels like a private experience curated by the Chef and his staff at his home (not sure anyone lives there, but would not be surprised.). The front of the restaurant has no sign and just a menu in the window. Get an Uber if you have never been here - you could miss it easily if you are on your own. He greeted us at the door, walked us down stone stairs that were, I don't know 300 years old, and let us choose what table we wanted on the beautiful patio. From the street all you see are doors and buildings wall to wall - you have no idea the insane patio / forest behind the walls. They gave us a complementary glass of champagne and we sat looking at our individually printed menus, given to us in envelopes. The food was over the top amazing - from the bread to the soups to the mains to the desserts. Too much to list here, you literally can't go wrong. I will say though the homemade ice cream was outstanding. I had a scoop each of Eucalyptus and Basil (yeah, different) but OMG - crazy flavor. I stole some of the chocolate from my wife's dessert and put it on the Eucalyptus- bang - there is an new epic combo. Last thing I will say is on the patio. There are big trees everywhere and just the right amount of birds chirping that you completely forget you are in the middle of the largest city in Portugal. Another oasis. Oh, yeah, one more last thing - from what I have said, you would think you need a home loan to pay for this meal - Nope. With a bottle of white wine as part of it, the entire meal including a EUR20 tip (which is probably more than typical) the meal cost EUR130. Yep - food and a bottle of wine was EUR110 (55 each). Oh yeah - they give you a complementary woven bag with the restaurant's name on it when you leave. You must go here.

Yelp
One of our absolute favorite meals in Portugal! I didn't have many options as a vegetarian but the ones I had were amazing, especially the eggplant with miso which was so delicious even my husband who doesn't like eggplant loved it. I got the mushroom gnocchi which was perfectly done but was super filling and a little heavy. We got glasses of the house wines which were delicious and definitely high quality. Dessert was really fun - eucalyptus ice cream was unforgettable and the chocolate soup had pop rocks on it! Service was so kind and generous, and the space itself was unique - a house that's been converted to a restaurant. Would definitely come back if possible and hope to sit in the garden which is only open in summer.

Yelp
The most charming atmosphere, warm and engaging owners, and scrumptious food in Lisbon, or, perhaps, in all of Portugal. Roasted eggplant, miso caramel and pistachio Asparagus, mushrooms, and poached egg Duck confit Special vegetarian meal by chef And yummy chocolate cake and hazelnut crumble was unbelievably good.

Yelp
Marvelous food. Went for lunch since dinner service can be competitive to get a seat.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. Love the environment and the foods is superb. Will definitely return to this restaurant when travel to Lisbon, Portugal next time. Highly recommended.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had in Lisbon! The location is charming, the service was impeccable but the food was amazing. Great wines. The eggplant with caramel miso stole the show! We're still talking about that flavor months later. Excellent risotto too. Was too full to try dessert, but I'd bet it was sublime. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
The house/décor is beautiful and really adds to the character and charm of Lisbon. I spent my birthday here and was not disappointed, the staff was so accommodating and really went above and beyond for our party of 3! We sat on the patio and it was such a great decision. The food was very good, I ordered the octopus as an entrée...perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Sweet things dessert was a little different but I enjoyed the variety. When I go back to Lisbon I will definitely make sure to head back to Clube de Jornolistas!

Yelp
Hands down the best place we ate in Lisbon. Make a reservation to ensure your spot. They have a small or large pre fixe menu or mix and match on your own. Lovely spot with perfectly prepared and seasoned items (see pics and descriptions). Americans, listen to me, if you find the standard fare too much, fatty or over seasoned your tastebuds will thank you.

Yelp
This place is excellent, and it all starts with Luisa, the genius Maitre'D/waitress. You can not receive a better welcome, or a more thorough recommendation of good and wine, than from Luisa. And she is right. We had the most delicious food and the most beautiful Time under the jacaranda trees of the hidden garden. Highly, highly recommended.

Yelp
To celebrate the end of our incredible 3 week honeymoon, my husband and I decided to have our final dinner here at Clube de jornalistas. With its glowing reviews on tripadviser and yelp, I knew we were in for a treat. We were the first diners to arrive and were immediate welcomed with two glasses of champaign. Our hostess led us to the back garden where we were surrounded by romantic candles and my fav unreal purple trees (so picture perfect!). Our waitress then welcomed us with 3 types of house made bread along with carrot purée and local olive oil. The bread were moist, soft, and hearty. The purée had a hint of curry. They were the perfect start of what were to follow! We decided to share the sea bream ceviche as our starter. Our waitress was incredibly smart and had the chef split/beautifully plates our starter into individual portion. The ceviche along with the spicy popcorn pieces and sweet mango was light and refreshing. It had all the amazing texture in one bite! For main course, my husband and I went with their two most popular dishes - octopus with sweet potato purée and codfish filet confit with sweet potato+wilted spinach. The octopus was cooked to perfection. Usually I dislike octopus because they are either over or undercooked. But this octopus was melt in my mouth good - slightly chewy but incredibly soft. The generous serving of potato purée added the perfect contrast to its taste and texture. I loved this dish so much that my husband actually offered to trade with mine. He saw the love in my eyes. The codfish was also beautifully put together. Perhaps the local codfish are just different than ones I had back in the states. I found it incredibly tough to chew even when it was flakey and spread into individual layers on its own. This happened with another cod dish I had here in Lisbon. It just wasn't the same texture I knew I loved (miso cods are always so amazing). In addition, the olive pate didn't help to convince me to like this dish any more (still don't understand how and why people just snack on olives). Nevertheless, my husband enjoyed this dish; just not my taste. We were eye-ing the interesting flavored ice cream (two types of local flowers, cheese, basil) right at the start of our dinner. But our sweet waitress recommended one of us to at least try their "Sweet Things". My husband and I decided to split our grand finale. Our dessert (or should I say desserts) included a sampling of every dessert on the menu. The chocolate mousse, the chocolate cake, two scoops of ice cream, candied fruits, various cream, yogurt, sauce, crumbles - it was incredible and we couldn't help but polish the board! The presentation was art in its finest form. I heard our neighboring tables expressing that they couldn't wait to get through their appetizers and entrees to get their own board of "sweet things". Service was beyond attentive and warm. Our hostess/waitress were incredibly sweet and helpful. From welcoming champaign to take home gifts (travel tag and a can of sardine lol), we were wowed by our whole dining experience at Clube de jornalistas! Additionally, for such an incredible meal - it costed only 58 euros (way cheaper than every meal we had in Venice and almost equivalent to every dinner we had in Lisbon). I can only describe our meal as the perfect ending!

Yelp
Great location and ambiance. Awesome codfish and kafta. It looks like a house on the outside and you're led to a beautiful outdoor terrace with cute lighting all around and a very comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great evening from start to finish. Got greeted at the door by the owner/manager with a free glass of Cava! What a great way to start off the meal. We came early when they opened in hopes we could get a table since we read that it is hard to get a table/reservation here. We were allowed to pick a table in the outdoor seating area, which was very lovely and had a great ambiance. We were greeted by a very nice waitress who made great suggestions. Every single plate was great and nothing short of it. Even though they were getting quite busy, they did not rush us at all. The waitress was great, along with all the other staff there. Would no doubt come back to this restaurant! Got a cute little gift from the owner/manager as we were leaving, what a nice gesture and great way to end a fantastic meal!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing - food, service, all of it. try the starters - very, very nice baby squid, strangely great corn (cream?). Also ordered eggplant, which went surprisingly well with with the sauce. I normally don't like it LOL but it was tasty! For mains - very decent salmon - not too dry, not too fat - just what you need, with a great flavour. Then, smoked roast beef with pear - absolutely amazing. nothing to add - good meat and well paired with the side. Risotto (shrimp+pear) was very very good. Oh and do get basil ice cream! Wine recommendations - ask the waiter to advice. They are amazing and bring just what you need.

Yelp
Great food and wine, but most importantly, such a memorable experience with the chef!! He made several recommendations, which we ordered, then kept bringing us new things to try at the table (appetizer, entree, and about six dessert wines!). We LOVED one of the wines and asked where to buy it, and then he GIFTED us a bottle at the end of the meal!! As everyone says, sweet things dessert is an amazing experience.... plus DO NOT miss the eggplant, venison carpaccio, octopus, Thai salmon...

Yelp
Highly recommend Clube de Jornalistas! It was one of the best meals we had during our trip to Portugal (and we had a lot of great meals), and just an all-around fun experience and perfect way to end our trip. As others have said, it's a bit out of the way, so make a reservation, get a taxi, and when you arrive, ring the bell. You'll be greeted warmly with a glass of sparkling wine, and led to your table in one of the many small rooms throughout the building. You really do feel like you're in someone's regal old home. The menus are presented to you like you have just received a telegram, and while the menu is not huge, it is certainly well thought out and highlights specialties of Portugal. Our server was also the "wine guy" (his words), so he picked a bottle for us based on what we ordered, and it was spot on. Then, to start with, we sampled the 3 different baked breads with carrot spread and olive oil, and my husband had the Sea Things (for that night it was a fish and seafood soup in a light broth), and I had the mackerel ceviche, both of which were delicious and also looked lovely. For our mains I had the asparagus and black pork sausage risotto, and my husband opted for the black pork loin. My risotto was very good, but the pork loin...amazing. So good that I had dinner envy, and was lucky enough that my husband gave me two bites. Seriously, it was close-my-eyes-and-savor-it delicious, and I would 100% order that if we ever go back. So, since it was our last night of vacation, we weren't leaving without dessert! Our server told us that we wanted the Sweet Things to share with a white port each, and who were we to say no? When we received the platter with all of the beautiful mini desserts, we were told what to eat first and what to use as a palate cleanser, and then left to our own devices. Again, everything was wonderful and beautifully presented, and we enjoyed every bite. The eucalyptus ice cream was a nice surprise, and very crisp and refreshing, but everything was tasty. Then, since we weren't quite ready to end our vacation yet, we had an after dinner drink as we digested. At the end of our evening, they were kind enough to call a taxi for us, and we waited for it in the comfortable lounge area. Once the taxi arrived, they presented us each with a small gift as we headed out into the night. Clube de Jornalistas was just a special, friendly, delicious, wonderful experience. I'm happy we chose it to end our time in Lisbon, and would definitely return.

Yelp
Try the chestnut soup, it is very delicious!! Very friendly people & good atmosphere! We received a nice glass of champagne when we arrived and both got a gift by leaving the please which was very nice.

Yelp
I was recommended to visit Clube de Jornalistas by a Portuguese family friend who has visited Lisboa plenty of times. He and his wife said that it was by far their favorite restaurant they had tried in this beautiful city. I was on a solo trip and determined to try the best restaurants the city had to offer, and this was ranked #4 on TripAdvisor, so I definitely took the time to visit. What a unique experience this was! Upon arriving, I was greeted with a lovely surprise glass of bubbly, so immediately I felt very welcomed. Then, I was lead through the restaurant and into a back room where there were many sophisticated diners. The ambiance is quite beautiful - dimly lit, a fireplace, stone walls and interesting modern decor, very sexy overall. There were more surprises to come, but I do not want to ruin the entire experience for you! The service was pristine. The staff was so attentive and great with their wine recommendations. If ever I was uncertain about a glass, they were happy to pour a tasting of the wine. I love how liberal the Portuguese are with their wines! I worked at many restaurants during my early 20s and the owners I had worked for were never quite so happy to pour a taste of wine. But this staff was more than happy and I loved that. The food was incredible. Every dish I tried was delicious, unique, and structured with an eclectic assortment of spices and flavors. The servers did a fabulous job with the wine pairings. For each course I tried a different wine, and each glass was carefully selected with the wonderful help of the staff. When you head to Lisboa, definitely take the time to try this fabulous restaurant! You will be very happy you did.

Yelp
This place feels Iike you're in someone's (large) home and if you're lucky you'll get seated in the large dining area. Was here with a smaller group and two of my friends arrived early, and after they've figured out they needed to ring the doorbell, they were invited to the lounge area where our hostess for the evening served a glass of sparkling wine. Now that's a pleasant - and surprising - welcome. And then the food. Well it was alright, but that was about it. Joining my friends out for a smoke later was the more enjoyable part of the evening. As this IS actually a 'club de journalistas' the environment more resembles a home than restaurant. That means we also had what felt like our 'own' balcony, facing a cute inner courtyard. Upon departure, we recieved a goodie bag. Girls got one, guys another. How adorable.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here! Food is very refined and service is outstanding. You are greeted on arrival by a hostess and escorted to your table with a glass of champagne, which is an awesome way to start things off. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the foie gras and ceviche to start. Both were really delicious and had super interesting flavor combinations. We then got the cod and the corvina, which were both amazing and fresh. For dessert we got the "sweet things" platter which was beautiful- the chocolate cake was to die for. As you are leaving they give you more gifts. Truly a special experience.

Yelp
A well-hidden restaurant that we would have walked right by if we hadn't been told to go here! The menu is a good mix of traditional Portuguese and modern takes on dishes. We were greeted with a complementary glass of dry sparkling white wine and seated right away (it was a Monday night, so not much of a wait!). We ordered the mackerel ceviche, miso eggplant, cream corn, and two risottos which were all amazing. The most fun came with the "sweet things" dessert, which was a sampling of over 10 mini desserts, all so so good! Definitely recommended.

Yelp
Amazing place. We went for my girlfriends birthday with some friends and it was unbelievable. The prawn risotto is amazing. Definitely get the "sweet things" dessert. It's a must have.

Yelp
Very pretty and romantic restaurant. They start you with bubbly white wine at the beginning. Very nice! We did the 90€ PP tasting menu (comes with wine and port) and it was very good. My favorite dish was the pork loin. Heavenly! They pour as much wine as you wish. They made an extra dish for us because we were hungry. The sweet nothings dessert is fabulous! Great presentation. Next time we will not do the menu and only order the pork loin with a bottle of wine. Much better value.

Yelp
This restaurant has an interesting combination of experimental food, playful but classy ambience and wonderful service by friendly staff. We made a reservation at 8pm on the Valentine's day. There weren't that many people when we arrived, but every table was occupied by the time we left. This restaurant is huge with 3 or 4 large rooms, but it also did a great job keeping space between every table and maintain spacious and minimalistic look. We were greeted by a lady who took our coats and directed us to the dining room. There they gave each of us a glass of sparkling wine while being escorted to our table. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and very knowledgeable of items on the menu. I was very glad I could try their regular tapas and dinner menu on the V-day. Everything we had was delicious and interesting. To start, they served 3 kinds of bread (savory, sweet with brown sugar and squid ink). My favorite was the squid ink black bread with carrot spread. The list of things we had was quite interesting in terms of combination of ingredients: Pan-fried scamorza, wilted turnip leaves and pear Sea bream ceviche, spicy popcorn, mango vinaigrette and fishroe Octopus with rosemary, sweet potato and wilted spinach Iberian black pork loin, black-eyed beans and apple Chocolate soup, peanut, passion-fruit daiquiri mousse Ice creams (basil, eucalyptus and cheese) The welcome sparkling wine, bread and port during the dessert was part of the service, I believe. They even let us try the third ice cream flavor for free as we had a hard time choosing which flavor to try! The restaurant is a little away from the city center, but it's definitely worth a visit. It's now my favorite restaurant in Lisbon :)

Yelp
Delicious, artfully crafted, and interesting food in a beautiful setting, with wonderful, friendly service. Couldn't ask for more!! Obrigado!!

Yelp
Great! Unique ambiance. Great food. I had the grilled octopus. Wife had the curry pasta. Couldn't have been better. And a reasonable price. It's an actual Journalist Club.

Yelp
This restaurant is somewhat of a hidden gem in Lisbon! Incredibly charming feel and delicious food. The owner was very welcoming as well, and they really care about what they do and everyone they host. The cocktails, starter, main courses and entrees were all unique, authentic and tasty. Really, all in all, a terrific experience. My only complaint is that there was no tip line on the credit card receipt! It's not as customary to tip in Portugal but we would have liked to for the exceptional service.
google avatar

Tom R.

Yelp
Such a cool spot with amazing food. The small things from ringing the doorbell for entry to the small gift at the end of the meal made Clube de Jornalistas the best dining experience we had in Portugal. We had black pig and rack of lamb entrees- they were both unreal. What really stole the show though was the sweet things dessert. A huge plate full of about 15 different treats. It was so good! We ate at a lot of great places in Portugal, but this was the only one that I NEED to go back to!
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
This place is awesome. You wrong a door bell to be let in. They greet you with a glass of champagne. Then it is like you are in a beautiful old house. The menus come in an envelope. The food was excellent. The waiter was kind of goofy, but friendly. Definitely order the Sweet Things dessert platter.

Yelp
This restaurant was super nice, cozy and well designed. We had the chance to meet the owner, a very nice lady, that did everything to make our experience as good as it can including bring us special speakers to the private room we were dining in. If you have the opportunity to go on the summer don't miss the outside terrace.

Lana Z.

Yelp
When my friends and I first arrived we were told that they didn't have any tables available, but then they informed us to wait a few minutes and they would try to create seating to fit us. While we were waiting, they gave us glasses of champagne to sip on. Once we were seated we proceeded to order. The food was excellent. I ordered the octopus and potato puree....this was the best octopus I had in Lisbon ( and i had octopus several times during my trip in Portugal). I gave Club de Jornalistas 5 stars because everything from service to food to ambiance was excellent!
