Clutha and Victoria Bar - Gastro Obscura

"One of the historic pubs of Glasgow, the Clutha’s story is one of resilience and community. Originally built in 1819, it served generations located on the ground floor of a high rise tenement that burned down in the 1960s. Some of the notable figures that have graced the stage include folk legends Woody Guthrie and the Humblebums (Gerry Rafferty and Billy Connolly) as well as Spike Milligan, Frank Zappa, and Alex Harvey. In 2013, a police helicopter crashed into the roof of the bar, killing 10 people and injuring scores more. The community rallied behind the bar and it was rebuilt and reopened, the outdoor beer garden being roofed over (accommodating an existing tree) to create a new indoor bar space separate from where the tragic loss of life occurred in a different part of the building. The pub is easily identified by the colorful murals on the facade and the building behind and includes indoor and outdoor seating, and specializes in live music. After the 2013 tragedy, the bar owners created a foundation that helps at-risk youth have access to the arts. Know Before You Go The pub is located just down the street from Scotia Bar." - SEANETTA, tahoeski

Please send our regards to the chef for the wonderful wood oven pizza. We were there on a quiet afternoon after taking a tour of the city and our wonderful guide Martin (very informative) suggested that we should head your way. He did not steer us wrong.

Popped in for a late drink and there was a rock band playing, great surprise and a very good three piece band.

This bar has many quirks & crannies to investigate. A nice outside patio in warm warmer. A modest stage for entertainment. A nice selection of beers on tap. Pizza to consume. Friendly publicans behind the bar. Nothing fancy, just a very comforting vibe. It is the type of place where you can easily spend a very pleasant couple of hours. Put it on your list of pubs to explore in Glasgow.

A wonderfully iconic pub on the banks of the river River Clyde at the junction of Stockwell St and Clyde St. A legendary place to many in Glasgow cos of the terrible night in 2013 when a Police helicopter crashed onto the roof causing multiple deaths. Like a Phoenix the pub slowly rose again to become a live music venue for every genre. It has a great food menu with the ever present offer of a Pizza and a Pint for £9. The interior is not fancy but has a wonderful, welcoming warmth . The staff are fantastic. A must see venue. One visit and it will call you back.😊🎤🥁🎶

A legendary bar, friendly staff and great live music selection that happens throughout the week. A tourists dream! Always worth a visit, though it's smart to check ahead to see what music is playing first. When we arrived, a band called Merle Hagrid & The Dangers were playing and it was excellent country music. Luckily, we are very big fans of country music! Other excellent bands we saw include the Carlton Jug Band!

A pub different from all the others in the area because there is a tree in the middle, a very nice atmosphere. There is a small stage in the middle where people play guitar and sing. The price of a beer is the same as everywhere, outside on the benches if everything inside is taken, which happens already in the evening. The pub is rather nice for a beer to take a break and go on, I saw people order food inside and it is quite popular!
