Yesterday after work, Jan 2026, my husband and I was starving. He suggested chik fil an and that’s when I remembered the BBQ truck across the street that we have been wanting to go to. We both ordered the brisket plate. Ended up paying $60 double what we would have if we just went to chik fila, and let me just tell you that we should have! It looked like they gave us a lot of meat but over half of it was fat smothered in bbq sauce, it was so chewy we couldn’t even eat it. I am so disappointed. We will not be going back and we will be sure to let everyone we know to stay away from here.

Just had an amazing experience at Clyde’s Southern Wood Fire BBQ! The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. What really stood out was the service; the man who helped me was super nice and professional. He even opened up about ten minutes early so I could finally try it out after always passing by. So glad I stopped in today! It’s only 12:24 PM as I write this, and they opened at 12PM, which tells you a lot about their customer service . I’ll definitely be recommending Clyde’s to all my coworkers and friends. Thanks, Clyde’s, for a great meal!

We stopped in here because it always smelled good driving buy. We ordered the brisket and upon receiving it took home to eat. The “brisket “ was in fact chuck roast. Full of fat.not what we paid for. I’ve smoked and served brisket countless times. This was not as advertised. Will not be going back. Be aware. Or if you like BBQ chuck roast at brisket prices go for it. We just there Jan 2026

Clyde’s BBQ used to be really good, so I’m disappointed in how much it’s changed. I ordered the rib plate and wanted yams and greens as my sides, but the meal now requires potato salad and beans, with any other sides costing extra. On top of that, the BBQ sauce on the ribs has changed and isn’t as good as it used to be they should seriously consider switching back. The greens were overwhelmingly soaked in vinegar, with no other flavor coming through, and the ribs themselves had more fat than meat. My friend actually took their food back because their sandwich had so much fat and barely any meat at all. By the time I added extra sides, my rib plate came out to nearly $50, which just isn’t worth it for the quality we received. The customer service was ok.

I ordered rib tips but they were out so they offered ribs which was fine. However the ribs tasted like they were boiled not grilled. Clyde wasn't there and the grill wasn't fired up. Not cool and not the taste I was expecting after going there for several years. Costly disappointment.

My Daughter and I, been meaning to eat here for a while. We finally got to stop by and Let me tell you, 10/10. When I say I want to eat ribs, this is exactly what I'm talking about. My daughter said to me. I can't believe we've been missing out on this 😂. She even called them, to tell them how amazing it was. The ribs were incredibly juicy and well seasoned, BBQ sauce was flavorful and had the perfect amount of spice, cornbread was moist and buttery, and macaroni and cheese was cheesy warm and peppery. Absolutely delicious! Definitely coming back to order some more and try the rest of their food 🙌. The lady was super kind and helpful and the rest of the staff super friendly 👌 Highly recommended 👍👍

I ordered the rib plate with mac and cheese potato salad and greens with cornbread. The mac and cheese was mushy. The cashier wasn't too friendly when I ordered she said the rib plate was a dollar extra and I simply said it's okay I'm not worried about the price and her reaction was well I'm just letting you know. Also, when I tried to order the candy yams, she said I don't have any more yams. We all out.

As a former Southerner..THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS BBQ truck! Lawd Jesus I was not expecting BBQ this dang good here in Western Washington. Living in Mobile, AL, this place is right in line with Saucy Q's, Moe's, Brick Pit, and J. Rodgers. They definitely put their foot in it as you can taste the love they have for QUALITY BBQ. I got the $20 2-meat special (pulled pork and brisket) with potato salad, and cornbread and also ordered additonal sides of okra and peach cobbler. This will make 2..or even 3 meals for one person if you eat smaller portions. So the food taste review... The brisket was a good as you get. Great smoke flavor and as tender as you could ask..BUT the best part is there was a minimal amount of fat and the slices were varied from thick to thin. The pulled pork was mostly all meat and also minimal amount of fat.. AND more good news was that it didn't have those burnt end pieces that always ruins pulled pork when you taste that inedible piece of pork. Clyde's has done justice to pulled pork. The baked beans are pretty much Bush's Baked beans which is A-ok with me THe cornbread had a Jiffy corn muffin mix texture but was a lot more geared in taste towards older recipes of cornbread cooked in cast iron pans. The fried okra used a lemon fish fry batter similar to Zatarains or Louisiana brand fish fry...something I happen to love. The potato salad was mustard based but not that overbearing on celery, so it works. And the peach cobbler was among the best I have had in years.

First off Mmmmmmmmm..... Delicious convenient roadside BBQ with good service!!!!! My wife & I got the brisket & rib combo with greens and mac&cheese which also came with cornbread. A great value considering this is authentic southern bbq y'all. I couldn't resist trying the hotlink with baked beans & those brown sugar yams. I can't wait to stop in again to try the rest of their sure to be tasty menu items. Thank you for bringing authentic southern bbq to Renton!!!!!

Definitely recommend Clyde's! Stopped for takeout after a mariners game and was not disappointed. The smell was amazing! Service was quick and friendly. We split a brisket plate with Mac and cheese and baked beans. The brisket was fall apart delicious! Loved they added some burnt ends - the bark was perfect. The Mac and cheese had a nice crust and baked beans were very good. Their sauce has just the right amount of spices. Cornbread was a little dry but we still ate it!

What can I say about this joint right here. When I arrived, the fragrant smell of wood being fired and the smell of barbecue. Makes your mouth water in ways that only barbecue can satisfy. I was greeted with the warmest welcome. The cashier was patient enough to me to allow me to place my order even with me being on the phone to ensure it was an accurate order. She was kind and very polite. The food was a nice portioned plate. And she asked me if I wanted my links to be cut or to be a full one, not fully used to someone asking me that question; however I'm glad to have being asked since you never know. The links are mildly spicy. The brisket is tender and has a wonderful chew to it. The barbecue sauce is on point. The potato salad has a nice flavor of mustard. By comparison I personally prefer either or. And the mustard is a wonderful welcome since (for me) I usually get mayonnaise based "tato" salads. The baked beans are also on point too! All in all a great meal. Thank you

First the good news. The okra was delicious. Now the rest of the story My order was for ribs, brisket, potato salad, okra, cornbread and hot links When I got home I did not get the potato salad or hot links. Maybe they were great, but I'll never know. The brisket was very dry, and clearly was leftover from another day. The ribs were ok, but I'm not sure they were fresh either. The cornbread was ok as was the bbq sauce. I really don't like leaving less than great reviews, but the food was overall not very good

Flat out fantastic... what a great find off Rainer Ave. best bbq around. Nice guy too and very friendly. Renton can be the " Dead Zone" for great restaurants but Clyde's is a winner. Hint: just get the brisket sandwich with potato salad and split it.

This is the best BBQ I've tasted in the Seattle area! I ordered the brisket sandwich, fried okra, and collard greens. The sandwich was packed with brisket, and the sauce is the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. Tip: get the BBQ sauce on the side if you don't plan on eating it right away. The fried okra, so crispy on the outside, cooked through to where the inside had that creamy texture. Perfectly seasoned. The collards I could have eaten a while pot alone. No extra vinegar, hot sauce needed. It's in there! The pot liquor? Whooooooo! My only regret, I didn't get the cornbread to soak it up. I wasn't going to waste any of that liquid gold! Drinking it was still My-T-Fine! Stop in and give it all a try yourself!

Seriously disappointed with this one. Seen this place for years, it's a high traffic area with Fred Meyer on one side and McLendons on the other. I tend not to be impressed with commercial BBQ, but love a good Hot Link. The photos showed what appeared to be a traditional link. Some place do weird things like Jalapeno Cheddar and Apple Mango, but just serve me a regular hot link. Some place split them in half, grill them and do all kinds of wild-ish that ain't southern. The thought of getting a real deal smoked hot link had my jowls, expressed! Unfortunately, what I got was a room temp link that was under cooked and cool if not cold in the center. With all the smoke and heat coming off this truck, that was completely unacceptable. I will say at $3, it was a fair deal and if he invested in Hot Dog Buns and served these suckers hot, he would be printing money at $3.50 per Link. Oberto is just a few miles up the road and I think for $6, you get a link, chips and a drink, which beats most fast food options. I was pulling for this guy, but he dropped the ball and there is no need for me to return.

my husband picked up two dinners before 2 o'clock today, Wednesday, July 2, 2025. The food must've been leftovers from last night because the brisket was crumbly and hard. The macaroni and cheese was not cheesy. It was dry and the chicken it was chicken. And for $36 for each meal I am very disappointed. Gwendolyn Darden

Drove past this food truck and noticed the bbq smell. After seeing consistent customers I decided to stop by and give them a try. I was skeptical at first being the area isn't particularly know for good bbq. Needless to say I am glad I stopped. I actually ordered here twice now as I write this review. The first time I had the rib meal which I got the bbq sauce on the side, I had their two standard sides (potato salad and baked beans). All meals come with the standard side and there is a $1 upcharge to change the side. I enjoyed the ribs they were tender and moist, I honestly didn't even need bbq sauce. Both sides were good as well. My second visit I got the chicken meal and it good as well. I recommend this place if you're looking for good bbq . Lastly, the customer service was great. On my first visit they forgot to add an extra side I payed for in addition to my meal. I was unable to go back and called and left a message. I received a call back and was able to pick up the side the next day.

Brisket was old and tough as leather. Wait time of about 30 mins and order was missing items. Expensive for what I received. Will not be back.

Delighted to find tender, delicious southern mesquite-smoked brisket with flavorful bark at this roadside BBQ stand. We enjoyed having a look inside the smoker while we waited briefly for our order. Clyde's is worth going out of your way.

On October 7, 2024, I ordered a pound of ribs. I believe it was 8 pieces of which I shared with my mother. I visited here a few times in the past and enjoyed the food. However, this was the first time I paid for burnt ribs. I believe the cost for a pound was $24. I didn't do it on purpose. We realized they were burnt when we were nearly back in Seattle so wasn't worth it to return them. Eating out these days is very expensive. But when the restaurant sells you their food mistakes instead of taking the loss themselves, then it's time for bad review. I don't trust their food judgement anymore and will never eat there again.

I've never had this establishment before. People keep telling me I need to check it out so it's on my list. I hear the food is amazing and the owner is so courteous.

Still the BEST PULLED PORK SANDWICH I have ever had. First time was what 7 years ago....I thought gee about 10 bucks...is that high...WELL I was STILL enjoying it the next day for lunch. It was HUGE. Totally worth it. In fact tastes so good I'd pay more. Over the years Clyde and his wife have done a fantastic job. Even had a big fire damage year or so ago...but they made it though that BIG PROJECT. MY SYSTEM / SUGGESTION is buy the Pulled Pork sandwich for NOW...then get at least a pound(if they have enough) for several meals at home. I say I share some with friends....but they have to be special friends...it is so good it is hard to give it up. I warm it up and put a pile on a salad. Gad...when I make the salad I am popping fork fulls into my mouth....you know like hot chocolate chip cookies where you are supposed to let them cool for dessert.??.? no where did this 4 cookies go? It is a ways for me to drive down Rainier from I-90 area...BUT so worth it. Never a problem parking ...right there or over next door at MaClendons Hardware...where you can find anything during your easy wait. ALWAYS such a nice family affair. Thanks Clyde and April. My husband, two littles and I shared two plates for about $40 and even had some leftovers for lunch the next day! We chose the ribs for one plate and brisket for the other. Both came with a good portion of BBQ sauce, slice of cornbread, scoop of potato salad, & good portion of baked beans. My husband definitely liked the flavor of the ribs and the brisket was your standard from a good BBQ place. Clyde's is definitely a gem for the otherwise hard to come by legit BBQ options in the Pacific Northwest. Not sure it's my favorite to be honest but definitely decent and appreciated the value! I think the potato salad stood out to me as the most unique of the things we tried. Everything else was on par with what I'd expect from a legit BBQ place.

Decent bbq for Renton area - maybe the best in the area hence the higher star ranking. Brisket and ribs had a good smoke ring (not overpowering in smoke but definitely there). Unfortunately, they were dry. BBq sauce is a must to mask the dry meat. Hot link is Louisiana style spicy. I really liked the potato salad with the "riced" potato bits in it; I never had potato salad that way before. The cornbread was dry but good and the baked beans weren't special but still delicious.

Anyone who gets the craving for bbq in the Seattle area likely already knows that there are very limited options available. I was pleasantly surprised to find Clyde's Southern when visiting Renton. I didn't honestly know if any bbq was going to score above 3 stars for me in Washington but Clyde's managed to barely scrape by. For real, 3.5 is more accurate but hey! I'll take it! For starters the sandwiches are a fair $10 and each sandwich busting full of smokey, tender, juicy bbq. I really don't prefer brisket to be chopped, so that was a bit off putting and I wondered why they did this. The meat is so tender, that mixed with the sauce and a soft bun, the sandwich is very 1 texture and really needs something with a crunch like a pickle. Sides are painfully overpriced at $5.50 each so I skipped on that. The bbq sauce is a real winner here. Mouth watering smokey! A bit too sweet so it may upset your stomach so be aware of that. Overall Im impressed with the quality coming out of this truck in a parking lot. Ill be back.

Absolutely rude. The woman who answered the phone was your typical rude old woman. Not any better in person. Food was meh. Brisket tasted like jerky with sauce thrown over it. Ribs were ok. Mac and cheese was dry and disgusting, tasted like noodles and eggs or something. For your food to be basic, you should really try to consider actually having personality and customer service? This is why we always get a bad rep. Do better.

I just picked up food after River Days. I was craving southern collard greens and Clyde's delivered! The potato salad was perfect, beans amazing, ribs tender.

Tha best in Washington. I'm pretty sure. This is definitely my go-to BBQ for mouth watering melt in your mouth brisket & ribs. The smoke brought me... All wood smoker makes the meat sing. Did I mention the baked beans? Nuff said. Corn bread, collards greens... They smoking everything.... Tha best, come on Washington!

I'm giving this place 0 STARS!! ABSOLUTELY THE WORST customer service I ever dealt with from the person on the phone who took our order to all the staff working the food truck. We called our order in at 4:22pm and were told it would be 20 minutes. After waiting 40 minutes and hearing all numbers called that were after us to come get their order, we were told our ticket was lost (we had already paid btw) and it would be 5-10 minutes longer. From that point, we were told 15 minutes longer several times til we finally got our food at 6pm. At one point, we were told to talk to the cook that he was 72 years old and there was nothing he could do to make him speed up...that he couldn't tell him nothing. We weren't offered any type of compensation...it was all just BS and a horrible experience. Confident I won't ever be back, even if the food is amazing. I ain't got time for the BS!!

It's that southern thang going on the food reminds me of home. Great smoke on ribs, chicken and brisket the sides are delicious potato salad, greens, mac n cheese and baked beans. Best to order ahead when you can. My favorite is the ribs tips enough to feed two people. Also most forgot the bbq sauce has good flavor not to sweet and just the right amount of heat. This is now my weekly stop!

Stopped here after working in Seattle all week. Waiting for my flight and didn't want airport food. Ridiculously good bbq. Sides are yummy and the ribs are very good. And I'm a Texas girl! Really good. I recommend if you are in the area.

Food was delicious. Had pulled pork, chopped beef, and ribs. So good. Worth the wait, even though it's a food truck. Only reason no 5 star is the lady taking the orders at the window had a bad attitude.

This food truck is on the corner of 4th and Rainier, across 4th from McLendon's. They have sandwiches or plates. The plates come with a meat, baked beans and potato salad. You can switch out a side for another option for an extra dollar each. I got beef brisket with baked beans and mac n cheese. Each plate also comes with some cornbread Once we ordered, we waited about 10 minutes for it to be ready. The baked beans, mac n cheese, and cornbread were all wonderful sides. My brisket was a little dry but very flavorful and smoky. My husband's brisket was yummier than mine. He also got the fried okra which was great! We'll definitely be back, and we will try to order brisket by the pound with some different sides next time.

My fat tail bout to grub I've been wanting to swing by Clyde's for quite some time now but most times I go by, they are closed. I finally was able to catch them today and it was worth the stop. Great price for all the food on this plate. The Mac & cheese could have been cheesier but the flavor was great. The greens were just OK. Adding a little of hot sauce doctored them right on up.

born and raised in reh'en and i've heard talks of "great bbq" at establishments that i've tried and they've all been pretty bad. i began to think folks here don't know what good bbq is... then i went to clydes. Been going here for some time now and every time I come, the lines get longer and longer and rightfully so. The secret is out - this is the BEST BBQ in Reh'en... i'd honestly put them up against other heavy hitters in or out of state as well. ribs are fall of the bone, briskets has the perfect smoke rings, sauce personally should have a spicy option but overall is a great! sticky and saucy and flavorful. Just the right amount of smoky flavors. The collard greens are on point and mac n cheese hits the spot! the wait can be long but it's worth the wait - so plan accordingly and be prepared to take a nap after your food coma :)

Worst bbq I ever had. Couldn't even eat the brisket me and my kids spit it out it's nothing but fat. The Mac and cheese is okay. Collard greens had no flavor. Waste of 25 dollars.

Best barbecue in Renton area. April and Clyde's barbecue is the best meat in town and not too mention their fabulous sides that go with the barbecue like the best cheesy macaroni and cheese their greens are delicious and meaty and also there cornbread is the bomb as well best Hotlinks and rib tips to go give them a call you won't be disappointed Sandy and Susan said so April is a sweetheart and will fix you up right been going there for years never a bad plate ever just good down home food

The best BBQ I've had in the Seattle area. Hands down the best. I tried the brisket and the ribs. I'll never go anywhere else again. Their sides of potato salad and beans were good, but the meat was the star! I finished with their peach cobbler that had just the right amounts of peach and cobbler.

I know I know...looks small from the outside and ya drive by that sign all the time but food packs a big punch. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was the size of my head. Also got hot links meal and it was oh so delicious. Staff is friendly and super sweet. There in house cell phone for order might be ringing off the hook when you walk up and order but thats ok. Will be eating all the meats. Always! Can't wait to go back

I moved to the south but I actually miss this place. The brisket was delicious and a good sized portion, real Mac and cheese, good potato salad, and delicious corn bread. It's funny I live in the south now and wish there was a place like this.

Great bbq at a very convenient location in Renton, WA. Clyde's Southern is very generous with the amount of bbq sauce they apply on their meat; very tasty. The ribs & rib tips were cooked just right & their brisket is very tender.

Best BBQ in the Renton area. Nobody comes close. You have to travel to Seattle to get Peco's or Jack's if you want BBQ like this, and I think Clyde's is better due to their portions and southern comfort (though Jack's hospitality is also second-to-none. Friendly ladies working the counter, and the man himself who operates the smoker, pulling bits out of the meat mountain that lies in a fiery haze of cherry and Apple smoke. Mmmmm.... already thinking again about those burnt brisket ends. Fabulous. All the food is homemade and delicious; the sides are awesome! Tangy potato salad, crispy okra, savory Mac and cheese (try it with some chopped brisket mixed in); and those GREENS, oh my! With some hot sauce... hoo boy! If you don't stop by Clyde's, you are doing yourself a grave disservice. TIP: their sauce is fabulous, but I make sure to ask for it on the side so I can ration it out per bite. Yep, still thinking about the brisket... Make sure you stand by the smoker to infuse your clothes with meat smoke. It's nature's cologne! Mmmm... meat smoke.

Brisket was quite tough. Threw it away. Pulled pork was solid. I had the hot link and was not loving it. Potato salad was solid. Location wasn't convenient to park. Lots of sauce. Wouldn't recommend it

I had the brisket. It was tough. Ended up tossing. Since this was 2nd time, I will not order again. My friends had ribs, maybe I will try them next time. Maybe. Liked the potato salad, a tangy taste. Beans were, ok. Peach cobbler was unique, maybe overcooked. Flavoring was good.

I've eaten here several times and I've introduced others to this gem of a bbq spot and they've enjoyed it just as much. I only order the beef brisket special with two orders of Mac and cheese. I've had the collard greens before too. They were good but my mom makes them better. The brisket is deliciously saucy and cooked so tender to perfection. You will be humming. The only change I'd make is I wish there were a SPICY bbq sauce option. There's no spice in the sauce at all though it's still tasty. But my favorite thing here is the Mac and cheese. Just order it. You will not be disappointed. I suggest calling in your order 20mins ahead because they cook to order and it can be a while. Love love love Clyde's Southern bbq! Please have longer hours and open up on Sundays and Mondays so I can get my fix 24/7! Lol
