GREAT place in the heart of New Brunswick. Food is amazing and reasonably priced. I had the grilled shrimp with gigante beans and crumbles of Italian sausage. All the flavors blended beautifully. A super cozy environment, especially at the bar. Now, the most incredible and awesome part is being waited on by EVA!!! She is absolutely the very best — she is even the face of Clydz. Perfectly professional and attentive, but also gracious, friendly, and super fun to have waiting your table. Insist on having her wait your table when you dine here. Amazing cocktail bar for after work or late nights. Servers and bartenders are super attentive and have a great attitude. The 1920’s aesthetic is so cool and refreshing, no one who comes here acts like an ass hat either. Environment is super swell and I always look forward to coming here Also whoever plays Kanye on aux throughout the night just know you have a special place in my heart

Good place to hangout with friends and catchup over drinks. The bar area is always packed and feels happening when compared to the dining area. Service was quick and the staff seemed very polite and helpful. Drinks are very good but is only above average.

Cozy martini bar that offers a blend of ambiance, flavor, and charm. The martini selection is impressive as well as their food options. Great spot for date night or a large group.

The first time I came here was about 20 years ago, and I keep coming back. I love this place for cocktails. Back in the day, I thought the food was better -more inventive and interesting. The menu now seems basic (safe) but otherwise well executed and tasty. Service is great and attentive.

I love Clydz! My friend introduced me, after years of living near by, l've tried Clydz and I am HOOKED. We went on last Thursday for dinner and drinks, and we were back the next day for Happy Hour! The service is great, everyone is friendly and respectful, it's a nice intimate atmosphere. The Chicken Parmesan pizza is amazing! We ordered that for our appetizer. It was nice and crispy and served with hot honey on the side. I ordered the Salmon with Mushroom risotto and spinach butter for my entree, and my friend had the Bolognese. Both were delicious! The drinks are all delicious and fragrant. We ordered other drinks that I did not take pictures of, the "Italian ice", "What Dreams are Made of", Lady From Lanai", "Blue Lagoon", and "Intelligent Gimlet" They all have their own unique flavors. I noticed that majority of the drink mixers are house made, which distinctly separates them from many bars and restaurants that I have visited. I love Clydz and am now excited to become a regular, we're already planning another girls night out at Clydz for this week!

Sooo cozy and the drinks are delicious. The cheese board was pretty good too.

We went here to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Immediately we loved the atmosphere although it did get very loud since the place was full. The servers were very nice, attentive, and overall helpful. The drink selection was great and the drinks we had were delicious. We were not impressed by the food. The truffle fries were great but the main dishes were sub par for the price and portion.

Friends invited me out & this is where they chose. It's my 1st time here. It's a "downstairs" venue in the heart of New Brunswick, so parking is metered (until 10pm) or in a parking garage. In either case....good luck. You come in to what is like a small bar, they serve great cocktails. We had a few. You walk further back & there's the restaurant portion. We had a large party, so I only took pictures of my food. EVERYONE loved what they ordered & we all shared, so we know everything was amazing. Definitely a 5-star experience for both food and drink. I came here for my birthday dinner. We ordered fries, wings, and seafood pasta. For dessert we had a blueberry turnover. This location is beautiful decorated and the staff is very nice. They have seating available outside, at the bar, or seated at a table.

I'm surprised in my time at Rutgers I never stumbled upon this adorable place. It is so quaint and beautifully decorated. Came here for a Tarot event and it was a blast! Ordered fries and they were good to pick at :-) Drinks were great!!!! Amazing service. I will be back for HH - very limited vegetarian options

Great local pub with atmosphere and great food! A current favorite this year on date night for my lady and me; really well thought out and executed meals and appetizers, a really dark and sexy bar entrance with these great little booths behind the bar area and a larger dining room on a second level. Appetizers and main courses are always delicious, we never had a single plate put in front of us here that didn't end up completely cleared by us unless we ordered more than we could handle. Stand out meals every time here, easy parking nearby in two parking garages within a block walk and the rare street parking in busy New Brunswick make it an easy choice for a great night out.

This is one of my favorite go-to places in New Brunswick. It's so cozy and cute inside, with a very homey vibe. They decorate around the holidays which I love!! I've tried many items on their menu, but one of my favorites is the fried olives and truffle fries! First, I've never had fried olives before, but these were unexpectedly amazing. The truffle fries are some of the best I've ever had! The only item that I was disappointed in was the chicken parm pizza which came with hot honey, parmesan, and red pepper flakes. The presentation and concept was amazing but I felt like this one particular item lacked flavor. All in all, I would highly recommend Clydz for a quick bite and a cocktail.

We had an amazing experience at Clydz! The drinks, food, and service are always top-notch. It's a perfect date-night and/or chill spot after work or a long day. We visited during happy hour for a late lunch, and it was a treat. I tried the Lavender Rush and order one of my go-to's the Absolut Mess, both of which were perfectly crafted. My fiancé ordered the Chili Cheddar Bacon Burger, customizing it with pickled poblanos and bacon on the side, and I ordered the steak sandwich from the specials menu. We both upgraded the side of chips to fries, for an additional $3. The fries were crispy, perfectly salted, and absolutely delicious. Now, my fiancé is someone who hates eating out and usually prefers home-cooked meals. However, he was genuinely impressed by Clydz! He loved both the burger and the fries, which he said reminded him of his own homemade hand-cut fries (he's very particular about them). As a New Brunswick native, he couldn't believe he'd never been here before, but we will definitely be back!

My previous review stands however I have been back to Clyde's for the first time in many years. Brought back great memories and the cocktails are just as good as last time. The espresso martinis are made with fresh brewed espresso on premises. Top pick these days.

Always a great time at Clydz when I go down to New Brunswick! Their happy hour deals are great- and you really get your moneys worth because they give you the leftover that's in the shaker. Parking is a little tricky so if you can take an uber, but again, great option- especially for a date spot.

I introduced my husband to Clydz during their happy hour. It's my favorite place to grab cocktails (specifically martinis) in New Brunswick with the dim vibe, the way the bartenders dress, and especially the way they craft their cocktails like it's a true art. The martini list is extensive, and I love how they give you the shaker to top off your glass as you drink. Happy hour here is a great deal and totally worth the visit!

I honestly have not been to clydz in a good ten years. I remember being good, fun and dark. From time to time I suggested to my SO that we should go here and we never did until now! Finally came and took advantage of their happy hour. The drinks were good, and they left the shaker which is essentially a second pour. The atmosphere was good and fun. The truffle fries were nicely done. Will come back again. It's a good date spot to chat endlessly.

Warm vibes with great music playing at the perfect volume. Nice crowd mix. We sat at the bar on a chilly springtime evening because we did not make reservations and the dining room was full until 8:30. We arrived at 5pm. The food was very good. Octopus & pierogis to start and we each had the hangar steak. Excellent. Bar service was great. Bartender staff was professional- knew what they were doing. I had two palomas and for dessert, a chocolate martini which was a delicious way to end a most enjoyable evening. Highly recommend.

Great service and pretty solid food. When you walk in, you go past the bar to the back room which is a dining area. As a group of 4, we ordered the alligator in a blanket and chicken parm pizza (the chicken is the crust) as starters. Both were enjoyable by all and the chicken parm was even better with the addition of the hot honey. I got a special for my entree, pan seared barramundi with potatoes and broccolini in a lemon beurre blanc. The fish was cooked perfectly and the dish was very tasty. They gave 2 filets, so I thought the dish size was appropriate for an entree. Others got the airline chicken and the pork chop and loved each (the pork chop was massive). The entree sizes here are generous which I appreciated. We left feeling quite full and the prices are fair for both the quality of the food and the portion size.

What's not to love about Clydz, the sleek , dive bar feel is always a vibe. Service and bartenders are always on point. Happy hour from 4-7 , we had a few martinis , the duck gnocchi and one of their burgers. Everything is always 5 stars.

I could not recommend Clydz enough!! The drinks were AMAZING, service was fast and friendly, and the speakeasy vibe was so fun! My friends and I went on a Saturday night and throughly enjoyed a slew of different cocktails, each tasty in different ways!

Review for drinks only. I haven't been back to Clydz in a while but all I can say is that it feels even more lively and fun than before! I came on a Friday night and the bar area was packed. The menu is extensive with tons of options for any cocktail lover, and all of our drinks we tried were both strong and delicious. We noticed there's also weekday happy hour that looks great and are already planning our next trip here.

A must stop whenever I'm in the area. One of my favorite cocktail bars. The employees are so creative and talented and every drink I've had has been delicious.

Came for Mother's Day and although it was a limited menu, they offered a large selection from the usual menu and it was fantastic. The hangar steak was like butter. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was subtle but delicious. The oysters were unbelievably fresh and sweet. The calamari was so tender and crispy. The drinks were to die for. Great atmosphere and service was on point. Will be back.

Came for the happy hour, which is Monday to Friday 4-7pm. We ordered their cocktails, which are $8. They don't skimp, they will leave the shaker for you to keep pouring. Everything was well made, maybe a little bit in the sweet side. We also ordered truffle fries, which came out perfectly crispy.

Always been here for drinks but decided to try the restaurant week menu. Martinis are always awesome here. Victoria's Secret is our favorite very light Sweet but not overly. Hanger steak and potatoes were great. Steak was tender and nice portion. Lobster roll was fresh and light.

This place has great food and drinks! It has a warm and mellow ambiance. It's dim with a lot of candles and things lit up, like the aquariums. There are so many mixed drinks to choose from. The lychee martini was my favorite thus far. Small and mighty. It also came with a shaker. I also had a Matcha cocktail. I had the fried chicken sandwich and upgraded my chips to truffle fries. So good! The service was great. They check on you often, even when it's packed. I went on a Friday night. It was very diverse, and people were friendly and mingling. It's only a three minute walk to the train station! it's almost been a week and those truffle fries are still on my mind.

Great little cocktail bar and restaurant near Rutgers. All the cocktails I had were phenomenal and me and my friend got truffle fries to share at the bar. I had some great holiday cocktails and some negronis with a pal as we caught up. Loved the holiday set up that the bar had for the seasons. Bartenders were great, overall great experience.

Clydz's is a very a popular New Brunswick bar. Based on the reviews, I think its a great place for drinks and happy hour. The atmosphere is cool, kind of "speak-easyish" with its basement entrance. We came here for dinner after a show. Although, my husband loved his Fried Chicken Sandwich. I found the Duck Gnocchi to be just ok. For dessert, we ordered the Butterscotch Budino and New York Style Cheesecake. The cheesecake, a bit dry, was overpriced at $12 for the small round piece. We'd probably come back to Clydz's again, but for drinks and happy hour.

Such a cozy atmosphere. Perfect for a date night! It is always packed, and for good reason. They have an extensive cocktail list, and the menu is organized by different flavors, ie sweet, smoky, etc. The cocktails are so well made! Highly recommend. Have not tried the food yet.

I've been to Clydz a few times and every time, I have the best time. I went most recently over the holidays and had such a good time as per usual. Tried their seasonal cocktails & ordered a bunch of apps. Everything was super delicious! Love this place, always such good vibes

Creative and delicious cocktails, with fun bartenders??? SIGN ME UP bc CLYDZ IS THE PLACE TO BE! SHOUT OUT TO MY GIRL GRACE, for recommending and making the most delicious cocktails for the night. I can't even remember all the cocktails I tried but each one was delicious and strong. Not once did I feel that the bartenders were skimping on the alcohol. My favorite part about this place is that their menu changes time to time with the season. I definitely recommend their seasonal cocktails, if you dont like something they dont mind making you another one of something else. People here definitely care about their patrons. To the point, DONT SLEEP on this place. I can't wait to be back to try other drinks.

I've been Clyde's a number of times and they do not disappoint. I think during the pandemic they might have changed ownership. The drink menu had changed from an encyclopedia of cocktails to a smaller more manageable menu. I can see pros and cons to both, however I do think they have one of the largest cocktail menus to order from still. Which speaks to the length of the prior menu. I've always known Clyde's is being one of the best, if not the best cocktail bars in New Brunswick and I think they have maintained that reputation. The food here is always good. They tend to have things that are fairly standard and then usually one or two more unusual or exotic things. I appreciate the ladder as sometimes you just want to try something new and they tend to always have something that is either uncommon or just something you can't always get. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with it this here. As for the service I think it is always been really good. The staff is very attentive. The bar tenders are very good as well. I think if you were looking for a great cocktail after work or maybe after going to the State theater this place will not disappoint you.

Loved the drinks! Loved the appetizers! We walked in here Sat night for drinks and few appetizers. were lucky to get a table, ....it was quite packed. Had two rounds of drinks #1 - Basic Witch Things and Honey Badger #2 - Bourbon & cigarettes and Penicillin Appetizers - fried artichokes, grilled ciabatta with whipped ricotta and then truffle fries Everything - food, drinks and service -- was spot on. Just one thing that kept me from giving this a 5 stars -- the order of how things were brought to the table was not pleasing. Our appetizers arrived before the drinks. and this happened for both orders. second time around when I asked, i was told 'the bar is kinda backed up'. I do understand that that can happen, but when u charge ~15 for a drink, the experience has to be factored in also....if my fries are cold by the time I enjoy two sips of my drink, it beats the purpose!

We started with a lychee martini, which was wonderful. For starters we share a house salad and fried calamari. The portion of the salad was very shareable for two. We had linguini pescatore and roasted free range chicken; both were delicious. The spotlight of the night was the chocolate fudge cake, which was huge, moist, dense, and tasty. The cake was great for two or even three.

Dinner here was a real nice experience. If I wasn't dining in, I would totally just come to the bar for a drink because it seemed like the place to be. Service was also super friendly and welcoming. We got cocktails and I wasn't crazy about mine, couldn't taste the spirit in the end but it was fine. Loved the brussels sprouts and the truffle fries, perfect for sharing and you'll likely want seconds. Fried chicken sandwich was tasty, but didn't have nearly as much heat as I was hoping for. The peppers were a nice topping but were very mild and got lost in the mix. Glad I got it but would try a different dish next time.

Had an amazing time here testing out some Bacardi Coquito with some patron that were at the building today we had a great time the bar manager Dean provided us with great customer service and safe environment to execute our tasting

Small cozy spot in New Brunswick, one of my favorite places to go for their cocktail specialty menu, always changing and always amazing. I always get some sort of martini, the list always sound so good with mixers you'll rarely find anywhere else like Rose Water, Lavender Honey, Fig, Ginger Syrup, Pickle Brine, Black Walnut Bitters, Strawberry and Darjeeling Tea to name a few. Service is always personable and ive always had a fabulous time. Definitely recommend.

This spot was underground with an old fashioned and unique bar. The dining area was separate from the entire bar. The menu had lots of appealing and unique options. I believe the menu changes regularly as well. The service was appreciated, and the food came out in a timely matter. The P.E.I. mussels ($15) and Asian pork belly tacos ($15) were ordered as appetizers. The mussels were a special the night I attended. They were in a white wine broth with Italian sausage and grilled ciabatta for dipping. There were about 20 fresh mussels present and they were tasty. The simple broth along with the grill taste on the ciabatta made for an appetizing dish. There did not seem to be much of a sausage presence, however. The tacos consisted of hoisin, ginger pickled cabbage, cucumber, and a srirachas mayo on corn tortillas. There were 3 tacos present and each was double wrapped which was useful due to the amount of filling present. The pork belly was succulent while the rest of the toppings went well with the pork. It was a good start to the meal. For my entrée, I had the arctic char ($26). It came with a mushroom risotto, which was creamy and delicious. The arctic char was cooked to perfection and had a layer of spinach butter on top. The spinach butter combined with the arctic char made for a great meal. Will I go back? Definitely.

Very innovative cocktail menu. Well thought and creative. The bartenders are on point. Their drinks are exquisite. Kudos. Busy on a weekend evening. But wait a while and you could get a bar seat.

I found that the drinks lacked balance. I got the "Don't have too many of these" (or something like that), and it was way too sweet and syrupy. I also got a Negroni...but it didn't really taste particularly of the gin. Nonetheless, the setting is nice, and the service was decent. I also had the food, which was surprisingly very good.

Clydz is my favorite bar in New Brunswick. The cocktails are amazing. I particularly like the Pete's Mochatini. If you like chocolate martinis, this is probably your type of drink. I also love their happy hours. The bartenders are all really nice and help suggest drinks based on your preferences. The ambiance is always lively and fun.

The restaurant was a good date night location. Very intimate and had candle lit lighting. The service was fast and we were in and out in a decent time considering that it got pretty busy! The food was tasty but it was on the more pricy side for the portion.

I normally go here for the drinks. I think I had APPS here... once. I would definitely go again. It's a cool spot. Lots of college kids goes here.

Wow! Our wonderful dinner at Clydz triggered a long discussion of what it takes to earn a five star review. Clydz is an outstanding meal - speakeasy oriented creative cocktails and tasty plates. The four star rating is probably too low because we're already discussing when we can return.

Ask for Dean! Whiskey sour all the way: organic egg whites, petite coupe, angels envy and a great vibe from Dean! Dim lighting and a great a cocktail experience. What does your pallet crave? Ask the bartenders! They will hit your spot.

A group of girlfriends and I made reservations for 6:30 at this spot. When I arrived I had to park a little distance because parking in New Brunswick can be tough. The restaurant had indoor and outdoor seating and it is a small, cute spot. I was greeted by the manager Brian and he was great to us. He came out to help serve and check on us. Tori was our server and she did just ok. For our drinks, we caught happy hour, so I got a glass of red wine and some kind if mimosa which was tasty. The girls really liked their drinks as well. As we drank the chef, Jackie, came out and introduced herself and explained the menu. It is limited but she is new and is building it back up. For entrées I got the beef bolognese pappardelle and asked for a side of bread. The bolognese was ok, I had to add salt to make it a bit more to my liking and the bread was hard. The chef sent complimentary grilled cheese, their version, and while I didn't try it the girls loved it. At the end of the night they were able to separate checks. All in all we had a good experience.

Clydz is (and will probably always be) my favorite martini spot. I had the pleasure of attending Clydz's new "cocktail dinner" event last night and it was wonderful. We arrived early for a happy hour martini at the bar before our dinner. I was disappointed to see that the martini list was much shorter than it was pre-covid. However, they still have my ultimate favorite (the delicious green tea-ni!). We ordered alligator in a blanket, but they subbed the meat with venison sausage as they were out of gator. Oh well, it was soo good! The "cocktail dinner" was truly an experience. Executive chef Jacqueline and mixologist Woodrow paired the food and drinks perfectly! I'm having a hard time choosing my favorite dish between the oysters/tuna sashimi and duck breast with cherry port jus. The drinks were all equally delicious. I highly recommend these dinner events to any food & cocktail lover. The event took about 2.5 hours in total, but we had the best time. Can't wait for another!

I absolutely loved this little bar! My boyfriend mentioned he used to come her a lot in college so we decided to drop by. We came just for cocktails and sat at the bar. We ordered three different drinks lychee, Italian ice, and apple pie. First off the drinks are amazing. They actually taste exactly like the title or name of the drink. They are quite strong too, not to mention they leave you the rest of the shaker which is basically two refills of your drink. The bartenders were super kind and great conversations. All staff were also wearing masks as well. I really loved this place and will definitely be returning when I'm in the area.

As a resident of New Brunswick for five years, I had never gone to Clydz nor passed by it. However, my friends and I made an early dinner reservation for 5 pm during the week. Even with the early time, the restaurant was packed, and they thankfully allowed me to sit at the table while my friends were running late. I admit that the food is on the pricier end, but there are a good amount of options and the drink menu is quite extensive. My friends ordered the truffle fries and arctic char, and I got the pappardelle bolognese. My friend let me try her dish and it was delicious. The fish melted in my mouth and the risotto was very creamy. Sadly, I found my pasta to be lacking, especially with the portion size and price point. However, I would come back to try a different drink and order the arctic char.

A very favorite spot of mine from way back. Subterranean spots with a prohibition-sequel vibe and good food and great cocktails are the inspiring to me. A bit pricey but you are in the nightlife district! Nice service!

Great spot for drinks! Their cocktails do not disappoint - try the lychee martini, green tea-ni, and the Don't Drink Too Many of These! I've also had the Lavender Rush and Lady from Lanai which are great as well. Their food used to be phenomenal but it seems like they had to shut their kitchen down for a bit during the pandemic - they've built their menu back up though so I'm looking forward to trying more food options off their menu next time! During warmer months, there are a few tables outside for outdoor seating right on the sidewalk. Street parking is available and you can also park at multiple nearby parking decks.

Very cozy restaurant on ground level/basement. We came for Restaurant Week, and will definitely be back. Great ambiance, excellent service and well portioned, delicious well cooked food. Lost a star on the truffle fries; edible but soggy and not very truffly. The gelato more than made up for it. Good job guys
