We got the family suite so we had private bathrooms and nice sitting rooms. Great for the 2 couples who got together in each other's rooms. Enjoyed the shared kitchen to keep our lunch items. The breakfast provided in the main building was great every day. They also had set dinners each night different and we took advantage of that once. The beds were comfy. The cabins are a bit far from town but just a 15-20 minute walk which we enjoyed. As well, there is taxi service in town that could also be used. We got used to the culture of removing shoes before going into all buildings. Really friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend to stay here when visiting Longyearbyen in Svalbard.

We stayed here for 4 nights and would absolutely do so again. Great value for money, with clean accommodation and friendly staff.||||It's a bit out of Lonyearbyen (Nybyen), which takes around 20-30 minutes to walk into. We thought that was totally fine (and a nice walk anyway).

We stayed here 4 nights. We stayed in a standard twin room. The rooms were clean and had a sink and mirror. There were multiple shared bathrooms with toilets and showers in our building. We never had to wait for either. There was 1 washer and dryer in our building for laundry. The main reception area was cozy and welcoming. There was a bar, lots of board games and is a nice space to hangout. This is where free breakfast was, which was good. Mix of cold cuts, cheese, fruit, hard boiled eggs, bread and yogurt with toppings. The walk into town is slightly long, about 25 minutes and slightly downhill. The taxi was about 150 Nok one way, we did a mix of walking and taxiing and it was easy to get taxis in town.

The view was perfect, like a picture postcard of fjord and snow capped mountains. The shared bathrooms that I had been hesitant about ahead of staying were perfectly and regularly cleaned. The cabins are approximately 45 mins walk into town but this became a pleasing part of our stay knowing we would spot various wildlife on the walk up and down each day, that we may not have seen if staying in town centre. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the atmosphere in the reception/restaurant was great and welcoming. Only small struggle was that the rooms are very hot, despite turning hearing off in our. Many people mentioned this too and most had their windows open like us. I guess in winter months it is a blessing but in summer makes for overheating at night.||Perhaps offering fans could be a solution. ||Svalbard was a dream and definitely plan to return:

Very cool stay in the coal miners cabin! We loved the authentic feel of the rooms and the stylish/comfortable lounge. We even had a massive reindeer relax outside our window one evening for a bit. It definitely added to the atmosphere haha. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Everything was clean and not too far from town!

We stayed for 1 night and it’s quite a special experience to stay at Coal Miners’ Cabin. The room is cheaper than most of the hotels in Longyearbyen and it has interesting historical background. More details about the room and facilities are mentioned below. Service is good in general and provides 24/7 reception. The common area is cosy and comfortable. Shared bathroom is clean and new.

A welcoming and youthful place, where dinner and entertainment are always accompanied by excellent background music. The brekfast (very good) and the dinner are self-service. The bar staff are helpful and friendly, always making you feel at ease. I highly recommend Coal Miners' Cabins!

Had a great stay here, staff a really friendly, rooms are comfortable enough, bit of a walk to/from town but the scenery makes it worthwhile. All the trips do pick up/drop off so we only needed to walk up from town after post-activity lunch / drinks.
