Coalition Pizza

So I’m an avid wood fired Neapolitan style pizza lover, have had pizza all over the world and more importantly many many in Italy… I’ve got to say this place will give Italy competition for the best pizza. We specifically asked for the pizza to be thin as possible and as crispy as possible with the pizza edge burnt/heavily charred, and the managed to make the best pie I’ve had in many years. We ended up going there 3 times in one week. Bonus is the vibe…

Had an early dinner at Coalition Pizza and it was exceptional. Pizza was thin based crispy just the way they serve it in Rome. Fresh ingredients and simple elegance. Service and ambience was on point too we had a lovely evening. Also had a salad which was simple abundance personified... Can't wait to sample the rest of the menu. Thanks to the team wonderful memories made.

Margarita & goat cheese pizza were good. Slighlty pricey menu, yet worth a try. Advice would be to increase base thickness a bit, currently paper thin. Thicker base will give a bit more texture to the pizza & flavour as the dough was good. Secondly, add more basil & cheese to margarita considering the price. season tomato sauce. good service but we were the only customers there. Can provide some music as the place was dead silent.

Two stars for the excellence pizza. This is my favorite pizza in joburg and unfortunately the service is beyond poor. There was only one other couple in the entire restaurant. The waitress took our order. 5 minutes later she came back and had forgot our order so she had us repeat it. No problem it was just one Margarita pizza with burata and a caprese salad. My wine was finished before the pizza came. Wouldn’t be a problem except she never asked if I needed another glass. The pizza came and she had gotten the order wrong. When I told her this she wouldn’t even remake the order. So whatever we ate a different pizza. I will never recommend this place to anyone nor be back myself due to this terrible service. It’s sad because I love the pizza here but Eish I won’t settle for this.

This pizza is being rated against the one I was privileged to enjoy in Naples, Italy(where pizza all began) 🇮🇹 •Pizza Crust: 9.5/10 (not easy to get proper Italian pizza crust) and good ratio of salt. I did experience the inner part of the pizza to be quite thin, which resulted in a "droopy" pizza. 4mm thick should be the target. • Tomato Pizza Sauce: 7/10 as I found it to be lacking salt substantially, perhaps blended slightly finer would be nicer too. • Mozzarella: 9/10 no complaints on the quality; could've been a bit more generous on the portion, considering the price. • Price: 6.5/10 R125, at the time, for a "Margherita" is quite steep. R100 would be great. •Location: 7.5/10, to be as unbiased as possible, it is situated "curbside" thus there is traffic passing constantly. Not a peacful/inviting sort of vibe; one could sit inside. The parking is quite difficult to find for a first-timer. • Humble suggestion: Basil should traditionally be placed on the pizza after the pizza is cooked, this adds a fresh hint and crunch to the pizza; a small amount can be placed on before cooking but majority should be placed after.

They serve the best Italian pizza in Joburg Goods: - vibey and rustic space. - staff were friendly and knowledgeable on menu items. - they made a plan for us a to be seated without a reservation. - the siyani pizza is amazing, made with fresh ingredients 🍕 - all their pizzas come with a perfect thin crispy crust. - tried some Italian wine, it was a bit lemony but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Bads: - it’s quite popular so you need to book in advance. - it’s a small restaurant so it can get a bit loud and noisy at times. - our pizza took over 30 mins to come.

I am clearly a pizza lover and my measure will always be a margherita . Coalition came with some hype as being a good authentic neopolitan style pizza. Served to the table it was quite promising. Unfortunately the dough was far too dense for me and too chewy, maybe the oven temp too low. The tomato lacked seasoning as well. Looking at others reviews and pics though maybe I need to give it another try. The tiramisu served in a jar was quite good though.

Absolutely loved that Neapolotan pizza place. Great dough. Great flavors. Great service. The Maxini pizza was fantastic, its caramelized onions bring the perfect amount of sweetness to the anchiovies. Loved it!
