Google
Such a relaxing and scenic spot at Coast in Santa Monica! Loved the beautiful ocean view — perfect from both the indoor and outdoor seating. I brought my dog and we were warmly welcomed, which made the experience even better. It’s a great place whether you’re looking for a full meal or just a drink with a view. Being part of the Shutters on the Beach hotel adds an extra touch of charm and elegance. Definitely a lovely spot to unwind by the ocean!

Google
The food is generic hotel cafe type of dishes. The workers are understaffed, and take awhile to get service or for your order to be cooked. The only saving grace is the location along the beach sidewalk. You get a view of the beach, if you sit at the patio. Parking on weekends sucks, so use the $20 valet. Down the street there are other cafes for tastier food and better value. We’ve been here several times, just because of the location.

We came here during happy hour to take a short break after walking along the beach. We ordered their drinks, calamari, and flatbread. The food was okay, but the interior is so classy. We decided to eat inside because we might get sand rain in our food if we stay outside. Service was good.

Google
5 min walk from Santa Monica Pier, this is an awesome place for a brunch. Service is great and prices are in line with the location. Absolutely perfect!

Google
New to the area due to work. Wanted to try spots that I might not on a regular basis. This one definitely is a spot for special occasions and celebrations. The prices are high but the atmosphere and service were great. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the time. Food is quality and lightly seasoned. This is not a flavor town experience. But expect the food to be well prepared. The espresso was perfect for me which is all I really wanted for breakfast. Will come back when the time is right.

Google
The café is beautiful and the view is lovely, but the service reflects something I notice often in the U.S. – a focus on appearances and hierarchy rather than true hospitality. Service should be about welcoming people, not controlling them. I came ready to spend $40 on a coffee, yet I was told to place my order at the bar and eventually found it delivered… on a chair. Style on the outside, but little care inside. This mirrors a broader pattern I see here: people often confuse symbols of wealth, like credit cards, with real prosperity. A card doesn’t mean money – it often means debt. Just like the café: impressive from afar, disappointing when you look closer.

Google
We got lucky to get the best spot for Sunday brunch with no reservations you might be lucky if you go early as well. But definitely recommend it

Google
Service was great, the atmosphere is really nice since you have the view of the ocean and you are next to the beach. It's an old place with average food. Nothing stood out for me when we ate there. It has a great location, but I feel like they need to work a little better to cook nice meals with more spices and sauce so the food won't be very plain.

Yelp
We had a lovely brunch here. It was an overcast morning and we got a table outside right on the beach... perfect! Of course, making a reservation and an early one will help facilitate that - just showing up wouldn't be my move. Complementing the view -- well... I guess that depends on your point of view -- is a keyboard player/singer who is VERY political. I'm a Democrat so I was cool with it. If you are a Trump voter, you won't be happy. He isn't associated with the hotel though... he just sets up on the beach in front of the patio. So there isn't anything they can do about it. We didn't hate it. You may. You've been warned. And yeah, apparently he's there every weekend. I started with a decent Bloody Mary. It is $23 but it's Tito's and comes with a piece of bacon that actually tastes pretty good. I ordered the Crab Benedict ($36), which had a lot of decently fresh crab and a nicely done hollandaise. My friend had the Classic Cobb with shrimp ($38) which was beautiful and fresh. For dessert, we shared the lemon cream custard ($18) and some delicious coffee. You can valet (pay by credit card, tip with Venmo!) or park in a nearby lot. For valet they do validate but it's still pricey. This isn't life changing food, but the views make this well worth it. If you have to be in Santa Monica on a weekend, brunch here is a stunner, particularly for out-of-town visitors.

Yelp
Spontaneous Santa Monica Bite Found ourselves walking along the trail in Santa Monica when hunger struck. We stumbled upon Coastal Beach Café & Bar and couldn't resist the lobster sandwich on the menu. Let our waiter know we were on a time crunch, and he was super accommodating--got our food out quickly! We split the lobster sammich with fries and a fresh burrata plate that came with salami, pear, and walnuts. The flavors paired so well together--sweet, creamy, savory perfection. The lobster sandwich was delish, though the bread-to-filling ratio was a bit heavy on the roll. Still, we both left happy and full. Patio seating + perfect SoCal weather = ideal lunch break.

Yelp
What a gem. Nice breakfast by the beach. I think you come here more for ambiance, even though the food itself was fine. The service was fine also. I would go back to just have good ambiance, and then go walk on the beach. I did all day parking in the public lot, which was $12.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! My daddy is obsessed with their Wagyu burger (a bit overpriced though), and I'm genuinely impressed by how spotlessly clean the restrooms are. No diapers though-- Shutters on the Beach still wins on that front with their diaper experience! Overall, it's a fantastic high end spot, mates!

Yelp
First and foremost, I need to apologize for my late review because I know darn well I should have submitted something as soon as I left my table. That's how great my experience was. I came here last month for a business meeting and I really needed a bite to eat. I decided to try Coast because I really wanted to give it a shot and I'm glad I did. I can't emphasize enough how great the service was from beginning to end, from being seated, to ordering and being offered alternative suggestions from items I didn't want, and the speed of service to receiving my check. I loved my breakfast as it was super healthy and not too heavy. I ordered a cappuccino to get my morning started and for my meal I ordered the 2 Eggs Your Way - I asked for over easy and I subbed the seasoned potatoes for avocado instead and I asked for my bacon extra crispy. I've never gone to a breakfast spot where they'd give me a whole avocado, so that was really a plus for me. I didn't know that there was going to be a tomato on my plate since I actually hate tomatoes, but I ended up trying it anyways. I had to top it with some salt and pepper though. If I'm ever going to eat tomatoes again, it would probably only be here. I'll definitely be coming back here the next time I'm in Santa Monica. Sitting under a heated lamp on the patio, with a good view of the water, hearing the soothing of the ocean waves, it's worth the price and experience. I would really want to give kudos to Hugo if I remember his name correctly for being such an amazing and attentive server. As a matter of fact, everyone I encountered at Coast were spectacular. From the hostess to the other team members, I was literally there for less than an hour but I felt important.

Yelp
The 3-6 PM happy hour is where it's at! Glasses of wine and beer are half off plus $12 select cocktails and some heavily discounted bites. There are a few tvs and great ocean views from the bar. We wanted somewhere to watch the superbowl without crazy crowds and this checked off all of the boxes. The eats were all stellar. Burrata ( $12 on happy hour) was so delicious and came with salami and honey cooked pears. We also enjoyed the calamari, margherita pizza and chips with pico and guac. All bites under $12 - a steal! Service was on point and the bartenders were all so friendly and made good drinks. The Shutters hotel is swanky and in a great location. Whether you are a guest at the hotel or just looking for a great happy hour this is a solid spot. 11/10 recommend.

Yelp
Love love love this cozy, reasonably priced beach restaurant at the foot of the gorgeous beachfront hotel Shutters! The food is excellent. The drinks are well made and delicious, and the ambience of the patio indoors and outdoors, as well as a dining room and friendly bar make this the perfect spot for whatever occasion you are celebrating or if you just feel like going down to the beach for a quick burger and a drink. I also love that they let me bring my mini goldendoodle Sophie, who is so well behaved and just enjoys people watching and having dinner with me. And the view of the beach and Santa Monica pier is outstanding! Denson Debbi Aldahl

Yelp
This is the breakfast you come for the atmosphere and view, not necessarily for the food. Simple food options, they do offer quality brands. Price is steep for what you get, food is decent and service is good overall. It's worth it if you just want a relaxing place to sit near the boardwalk.
google avatar

Juliane D.

Yelp
Spectacular location and vibe (priced to match) service is very good and the food is tasty. We tried the avocado toast, Chilean sea bass, Cobb salad with salmon and the lobster roll.

Yelp
Great food and great service! This place is very cute and right on the beach as well! We went for dinner as well as breakfast. The lobster roll was delicious and so was the waffle! Our drinks were also perfectly made, not too strong not too light. Staff was extremely friendly as well. I got the lemon fettuccine for dinner as well which was a little sweet so if you don't like things super sweet maybe don't get this! Otherwise, it was delicious!

Yelp
Located bang on the Santa Monica beach in Shutters by the Beach hotel, this restaurant has amazing views, great service and excellent food and beverages. We went for brunch on a Saturday. Party of 5 and we had an amazing time. They don't take reservations for brunch so it's first come, first served. We had no trouble getting a table. Everything we had was well prepared and presented. I had the lobster roll which was fresh and delicious. The others had the catch of the day, the Wagyu burger, Flat bread and French toast. We also got a Margherita flat bread, Burratta salad and Caesar salad to share. All great. For dessert we shared a butterscotch pudding and and ice cream Sundae. We would love to go back there soon.

Yelp
What a wonderful place for a sunny afternoon on the weekend! We sat outside, right by the beach. Angel provided excellent service. Great food and a fantastic location!

Yelp
I went to Venice Beach with my friend and my dog. We are getting so hungry and looking for late lunch. We found this place and give a try but not great experience at this place. Price is over higher than food quantity. Seafood linguine (2/5) - linguine wasn't cook enough and seafood quality was disappointing than price. Nothing taste. Lobster rolls(3/5)- just ok, not a fresh either. I wouldn't order that menu again if I go this place again but I don't thinking I will go this place again. Very disappointed but our waiter was super friendly. Pretty modern place with clean.

Yelp
Almost decided to give this place 5 stars because of the vibes and the beautiful weather, but unfortunately it had to come down a bit to a 4. The only complaint I had about the food was the lobster roll was a bit dry and they salad wasn't satisfying and barely had any dressing, was pretty much just leaves. The spritz are great and the umami sea bass was soooo good. Highly recommend even though it wasn't look too appealing. Service was good as well, everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. If you're looking for an ocean front restaurant where there isn't too much going on other than the musician nearby trying to make some cash, and you just want to enjoy the sunshine and sound of the ocean, this is a safe spot.

Yelp
I love coming to Coast Café at Shutters. The view is beautiful, the coffee is great, and everyone on the team is so nice and welcoming. A special shout-out to Lilly, who is absolutely delightful--always greeting me with a smile and making me and my two dogs feel right at home. She even brings them a bowl of water, which they love. She's professional, caring, and such an asset to the café. Always a pleasure to see her at the end of my beach walk!

Yelp
We ended up going here for breakfast one morning and ended up going about three times after the go-to breakfast spot. And every since time, service and food were both delicious. It's a relaxing open space with the back seating areas and out front. The comfortable seat, and we did make a reservation the first time because they can get busy Lots of delicious breakfast options

Yelp
This is my weekly spot! I love it here. Right by the ocean. Beautiful space & refreshing vibe. The service is good with some super kind servers. Jesse and Fernando were great & they Ceasar salad & vegan ravioli are yum! they have great fries, the Mediterranean flat bread & desserts are also really good! Def a place to try if you're in the Santa Monica area :)

Marcella H.

Yelp
Ridiculous prices for the worst quality food. Even diners don't serve you Oscar mayers turkey bacon... this spot does, and will charge you $12 for 3 pieces. If you care about your taste buds and are willing to spend some money, go somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a fantastic dinner at coast. The prices are definitely on the high end but details and serving staff is top notch. I loved these cloth coasters too! Get the dessert. Great options so we chose a few to share with our group and delicious!!! Also they made a perfect dirty vodka martini. It was very quiet and chill which I don't think we expected, but it was an oddly rain Cali day so I think less people were out and about.

Yelp
Located in Shutters, the food ranged from mediocre to good. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Wednesday night. The seafood in the seafood pasta didn't taste the freshest. The carrot cake (local partner) is very good. Our server Jessie really rounded out the experience - he came by often but not over often. He made great recommendations and was genuinely friendly.

Yelp
My two girlfriends and I went for our birthday dinners at Coast. First, large number of bird feathers around our table like something previously had happened to the bird. Then we ordered the artichoke salad - which had a worm in it. The server - who was extremely nice - took it away and off the bill. She asked us if we still wanted to eat at the restaurant and we agreed to -but in hindsight, we should have left. The food was good but not great for a $220 bill. Then we went to use the bathroom, which was dirty. Spoke with the manager, who just said that it will be better the next time. Don't think we will be returning. The two starts is only for the server who was very nice and attentive.

Yelp
I got the fish and chips and a beer. The fish did taste a little fishy. Not as fresh as I would hope for a restaurant of this caliber. Just a little underwhelming. The service was excellent. And it's a beautiful place for a casual first date.

Yelp
Coast Beach Café and bar is located at Shutters on the Beach. This place is so aesthetically pleasing with gorgeous views of the ocean. Coast is where you want to spend the afternoon, any day of the year. We stayed from afternoon until sunset. We sat at the bar where the amazing John the bartender served us. We ordered a few glasses of champagne, salmon tartar and mascarpone polenta. One of the bartenders made me a delightful coconut and pomegranate cocktail with rum to try. Can't wait to return and try some more food items and cocktails.

Yelp
If you are looking for a nice place to sit on the patio and people watch, this is the spot! It's just far enough from the pier hustle and bustle but just close enough to the walking/bike path to feel like you're still in the mix of Santa Monica. We had fish and chips which was good, and a salmon caesar salad topped with anchovies (pictured). Very friendly staff. Restaurant is adjunct to the hotel.

Yelp
The ambience, the food, the service were good. My baby boy dog died 2 weeks ago and I wanted to go out with my other baby girl and enjoy some food, drinks and sunset. Server Jessy was great. Very nice server. The smoked mango drink was good, very sweet but when ice melts it's great. Beef tartar was outstanding. Octopus was good, too much chard to my taste, but was good. Oysters were mediocre, super tiny and not worth the price. Overall the place is good. Also the guy playing many instruments outside by the walk added some amazing atmosphere! Loved it! But crazy expensive. Spent 220$ for food and tips. Just being by myself. Will not come back. 6 tiny oysters 28$, small portion of octopus 35$, small portion of beef tartar 35$, each drink 22$, I had 3...there are much better places for this price next to the beach

Yelp
A great place to grab a quick drink and enjoy the view. The staff is always nice here too.

Yelp
I stopped by to eat as a party of 1. It was a slow, weekday morning. I got to sit outside and I got Alex R. As a waiter. I ordered the $42 surfers breakfast, but I was super hungry and I'm pregnant (so I crushed the entire breakfast)z The service was 12/10 thanks to Alex R. And the other servers who checked on me stuffing my face. The food was 12/10 , which I inhaled the entire plate and drinks. The ambiance was 12/10. I have never had such a pleasant experience by myself, and I will 100% bring back my husband to enjoy as well!

Yelp
If you're looking for a beautiful scenic brunch along Santa Monica beach, definitely check out Coast Beach Cafe and Bar. Tucked discreetly into a hotel that is vaguely reminiscent of Martha's Vineyard, this restaurant features rather quiet and scenic views of the beach, as well as options for both indoor and outdoor dining. Their brunch is solid but not mind blowing, with traditional options such as egg Benedict's and skillets, and I found the price points a lot higher than most West LA brunch spots. I was more impressed by their drinks, such as my espresso martini, which were generously and well mixed with alcohol. The waiters were also super friendly, and took extra care to bring a water bowl and extra pets for the dog with me. Would definitely recommend stopping by for drinks and views if you're in the area!
google avatar

Allison R.

Yelp
We made our reservation around sunset and it was SO worth it! The views, the vibes, everything made this dinner with friends perfection. The drinks weren't too strong but still tasted amazing and the food was beyond! Our waitress was very sweet and checked in when she saw drinks were low and to take food orders. Great service! The only thing I wasn't that crazy about was the music being played on the boardwalk since it made it a little hard to hear my friends, but it wasn't bad music! Hot tip: You don't have to be a guest at the hotel to dine here.
google avatar

Dev R.

Yelp
Well, that was a disappointment. I have always heard how great Shutters on the Beach was. They must mean the hotel, versus the cafe. 5 stars for ambiance. Whether seated on the boardwalk watching passerby, inside watching the waves, on the patio enjoying the breeze, or at the busy tables on the side, you can not go wrong with location. That $14 valet parking might get you for the experience, but eh... 5 stars for the service. James was our server. With 10 girls, he took my particulars with smiling grace, delivered with competence, and checked on us despite the busy morn. 2 stars for food. We indeed come to brunch fir the food. No one but she who got the lobster roll, liked their meal. Three of us got steaks. Mine was underdone, then overdone, but still an inferior cut. Two of us got over medium eggs, and ended up not eating them for the crustiness. The pancakes seemed to be a pleaser. The eggs Benedict seemed to be good also. The pizza was an unflavored mess. The salmon tartare was just tolerable. The coffee was too strong. Ugh! We will not return for the food. Well, now I've been here, and done this.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to visit Coast at Shutters by the Beach on an absolutely flawless first day of fall. While we've frequented 1 Pico before, this was a new stop for us. The patio offered a charming view of the boardwalk, the ocean, and the pier. It was a serene backdrop to our meal. The specialty drinks were delicious. I had the jalapeño margarita, which was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet, while my husband tried the Red Bull Colada - a unique choice that we both throughly enjoyed. Brunch was delightful. My avocado toast with a perfectly poached egg was so tasty, and my husband's flatbread pizza was gone in minutes. Our server was very good. Coast at Shutters by the Beach truly delivered an enjoyable dining experience! We're already excited about returning for another round of brunch or lunch.

Yelp
What a nice treat after a long walk by the beach. We stopped by for brunch and really enjoyed our food and the atmosphere (minus the smell of weed all around us). I absolutely loved the coast vanilla waffles. Will come back just to eat that again. Everything we ordered was super delicious and fresh. The service was ok, not the best but good enough. We waited over an hour to be seated because they accommodate the hotel guests first then the public. But I'm happy we got to enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean while eating and people watching. You will see pretty interesting people around here ....:)

Catherine C.

Yelp
I've been here many times and the food and ambiance is always great, but for the absolute best experience, request to be in the section of James, the best server in town!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they're doing and what they're talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is excellent & sea bass, shrimp & truffle fries are exceptional. The views are second to none & outside and inside is friendly if you are paralyzed like me and are wheelchair bound. They also make exceptional martinis. Noise volume allows for intimate or business conversations A must try!

Yelp
Santa Monica, CA The aesthetic here is beautiful with gorgeous ocean views and a clean and crisp white decor like a New England beach house. Shutters hotel is beautiful and this is their casual beach fare restaurant. Unfortunately the food is overpriced and average tasting. Some of our items were sitting under the heat lamp and came out barely even hot. Service is average. This location served our purpose as a good meet up place to watch a game, but there is much better food out there for the price. Valet or street parking. I would come back for a light bite or snack since the view is spectacular, but not for dinner...and I am in no rush to return but would return if the consensus was to meet here again.
google avatar

Laurel T.

Yelp
The food here was really good But what really impressed me was how busy it was and yet the staff was so attentive. All our food came out really fast, they kept asking if we wanted another drink and came by frequently and filled up our water glasses. No matter how good food is, it can be completely ruined by bad staff. This place was great! I would definitely eat here again. They even nicely packed up our dessert to take back to our room

Yelp
Excellent location, more or less great service but average food-option selection (for vegetarians). We came here on a Saturday evening during sunset; the weather was great and we were able to catch the sunset, too. The hosts were wonderful and friendly and - almost - everyone was in sync with each other. We ordered some fries which was average and their margarita pizza which was good. Unfortunately, though, their salad was quite disappointing. We ordered a Cesar Salad but requested a different dressing. Our waiter said he could add micro greens, too and we said sure. However, when the salad came, it was literally a pile of micro greens and nothing else. We let our waiter know that wasn't what we were expecting but he seemed to justify it and requested us to order bread. We said no and continued eating. It's really unfortunate because our waiter seemed nice and friendly but after seeing how he wasn't accommodating on a simple salad, it spoiled our moods. Honestly, to think a pile of micro greens for $22, and he couldn't take it back and add to it? Disappointing. I should say though, maybe our waiter was an outliner, because the other waiters did seem genuinely kind and accommodating; one another waiter came to our table and asked if he would clear our table and bring new ones before our pizza came. All in all this place is fine. The location is by far the best part, and the service - outside our waiter - was great. Yes, there food options could be more creative or better presented and yes they could have more unique vegetarian options, but given our personal experience (with our waiter) I would give it a 3.5/5

Yelp
Beautiful spot along the beach path in Santa Monica. There are plenty of tables in the main patio, but definitely make reservations for boardwalk seating. The avocado toast is exactly what you would imagine it to be. The combination of crushed and sliced avocados were smothered over crusted sourdough bread. It was lightly salted and topped with cherry tomatoes, chopped onions and a beautifully poached egg. Delicious! I also enjoyed the eggs benedict with smoked salmon that was suggested by our waiter. Super tasty over an english muffin and perfect with the side of crispy potato wedges. Make sure to get the Strawberry Queen Mimosa (aka strawberry prosecco) and you can't go wrong here for brunch. Service was super friendly. Our waiter, Luis, made thoughtful suggestions and came back often to check on us. The food was on the pricier side but it was fantastic to sit along the sand and take in the view. I highly recommend Coast for brunch if you are in the area.

Yelp
I hadn't intended to post anything, but since the manager didn't return my call, here goes. I went to Coast for a group meeting. They provided us with prefixed menus. I have an autoimmune disease and strict dietary restrictions. Me: is there a gluten free option for this pasta? Server: I can ask the chef, but you know that will take longer. Me: I'm fine with that, if you could ask. Server came back: we can make it gluten free but it will take longer. They have to boil a whole new pot of water. Cook your pot individually. It's gonna be a while. I ordered it, as the other options were not within my diet. One could argue that he was just trying to be helpful and advise it was just going to take longer. But it was unnecessary. Anyone with dietary restrictions knows they could wait longer and that doesn't matter one bit. A necessity is a necessity. I didn't need the extra attention and eyes on me from people at my table. I don't know them. They didn't need to know about my dietary needs. Discretion and don't shame someone for having needs.

Yelp
This would have been a 5 star review if it wasn't for the hostess. I was in the area looking for a place open for brunch and saw that Coast had plenty of reservation spots open. We probably didn't need a reservation, but I made one just be be safe. We arrived about 15-20 minutes earlier than our reservation and saw there were plenty of empty tables outside on the patio. While there was a welcome sign for the restaurant outside, there was nobody guiding us or telling us where to check in. There was someone waiting in front of the door, so we stood behind them and patiently waited for someone to check us in. After the lady in front of us was immediately seated, I went inside to check in and the hostess told me I had to wait until my reservation (when there were plenty of empty tables). While I was waiting outside, I noticed multiple parties walking in and getting a table. It was extremely frustrating to see this because there was NO POINT of making a reservation and I could have just checked in as a walk-in customer. 30 minutes after waiting outside in 90-degree heat, I went in again to ask the hostess when I would be seated. She told me to wait AGAIN and then proceeded to seat us in the makeshift bar area that they set up in front of the door. I was really shocked to be seated there because: 1. the bar area (which isn't really a bar, but high chairs on their brick wall) was EMPTY the entire time. 2. there was a beer glass left and the table wasn't even ready I sort of felt like she was treating us this way because we were a minority and the rest of the groups weren't. I should have talked to a manger at this point, but didn't want to ruin my day and kindly asked for a table inside the restaurant (front patio/side patio). She told us we had to wait again, but at that point, I didn't care because I had already spent half an hour waiting. We FINALLY got seated and immediately ordered our food with our server. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, despite the many Yelp reviews about slow service. Our server was also nice enough to split our dishes to share. Both the lemon ricotta pancakes/lobster rolls were delicious. The food/service definitely made up for the HORRIBLE treatment I got outside. I hope management does something about training their hostesses as I felt totally disrespected. I would definitely want to go again as long as I don't have to see the awful attitude and lack of professionalism from the hostess. NOTE: RESERVATIONS ARE USELESS HERE. ONLY MAKE ONE IF YOU WANT TO WAIT.

Yelp
Great location!!! Great atmosphere!! The view to the beach while eating dinner/lunch etc is appealing enough. Hooowwwever the food was not that great. The lobster roll tasted like it was missing something... no taste at all. (Other reviews almost say the same , no taste to the food no seasoning no love. I wonder if they like their job?) It literally didn't taste like anything. Oh and the fries? Eh I mean they are fries. What can you expect? Tasted like any reg fries from a fast food joint. However the presentation looks good though, makes it look super good to eat actually. Boy was I wrong, pics are deceiving. So , if you want something tasteful I wouldn't go with this option. Hey, I'm just trying to help someone out. Wish I had a review like this before eating this lobster roll... Good luck !

Perfect setting for a beach side family meal. Service, food and setting perfect for any occasion. I had little ones and luckily they have a kids menu. Kids asked to come back for more. A short walk from the Pier, plenty of parking all around. Sit by the sand, patio, bar area or family size tables inside. Either place you'll enjoy the atmosphere of this hotel restaurant. Mary's Chicken or Club sandwich is highly recommended. Ingredients are fresh and everything perfectly seasoned. Plenty of drinks to choose from if you are into spicing your meal.

Yelp
From previous experiences I had higher expectations. Service was awful. Saw our server one time. Food came out cold. Fries had been sitting. Nobody checked on us. Nobody asked about food until we were done. Reconsider coming here if you want a good meal with good service.

Yelp
The food was very expensive and mediocre at best. The cesar salad was very sour, the "fresh" juices were from a pre made bottled brand. Service was not too frienfdly The bigger issue was the stuffiness and the bathroom smell that engulfes you when you walk in. They need to improve their ventilation! It was gross. Overall very dusappointing

Yelp
We love coming to this place for many many years. My husband and I got married at Shutters and we've frequented this restaurant for brunch and early dinner. We've celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries here. I love love love their lemon ricotta pancakes and smoked salmon egg's Benedict!! It's a must have!! I also love dining in their outdoor patio. It's a nice sun room with open air and small trees providing enough shade. My favorite is the sounds of birds singing while you enjoy your food and drinks. It's definitely my personal favorite in LA

Yelp
Are breakfast at this beautiful ocean view venue. I ordered the egg white omelet with a side of smoked salmon. I thoroughly enjoy my meal and the outdoor air. Other members of the group enjoyed the lemon ricotta pancakes and poached eggs! A little bit pricey though to be expected with the beautiful setting.

Yelp
Welcome to the boujee, ideally located hotel bar on Santa Monica beach. This hotel bar and lounge is situated in the iconic Shutters hotel, right on Santa Monica and right in the middle of all the action. We stopped in for happy hour on a Friday afternoon and to get our weekend started off on a good foot. To be honest, shouldn't have even walked in the door. The bar service was slow for 3 bartenders and maybe 10 guests. The menu for happy hour was very outdated from what is advertised online (almost all the food options are non existent). The wine of the day was a bottle of whatever was already open in the wine cooler, prob day old bottles they just want to get rid of. The bartender forced us into not ordering things off happy hour menu and instead making us fancy speciality cocktails which we were not interested in at all. Customer service could have been so much better. These bartenders need to read their clientele a little better. Don't give a beer drinker a fancy blueberry bourbon mule if he wants a god damn beer! Come here if you like stuffy and status but move along if you want some good food, drinks, and vibes because you won't find it here.

Yelp
This is a lovely restaurant in one of the more expensive hotels in West LA. It's on the beach in Santa Monica with ocean views. So don't come here if you don't get that this is on the pricier side. It's super enjoyable - all that being said. Good quality food, beautiful spot, stunning views, excellent people watching and nice service. I've eaten here many times for breakfast, brunch, lunch. Always enjoyable. Today we spilt huevos and crab Benedict both were delish. I asked for extra salsa they brought a tangy tomatillo sauce that had a nice spice. The hollandaise sauce was great and it was a beautiful day.

Yelp
Treated ourselves to a nice early dinner on the beach this afternoon. I can honestly say that Coast is a beautiful restaurant and hotel. It is has a modern, nautical theme while maintaining class and casualty. We had a reservation, but didn't necessarily need one. It wasn't very crowded during our visit, but during the evening I'm sure it's more lively. The menu is pretty simple, I just had the rotisserie chicken and swapped out the listed sides for fries and veggies. Pretty good! The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. I would definitely say this is a place you come to for the experience and scenery. If you don't mind a little wind, I suggest sitting on the patio. Amazing location and view of the beach and Santa Monica pier. If you are a tourist, extra recommend!
