Lots of sand and huge beach. Very populated, so I'd say for social butterflies. You can only stay for one night so that kind of socks. Also not handicap friendly so just make your own beach parking area. They can't do anything about it legally anyways.

Loved that the campsites were spaced apart without sacrificing the views. The roads were smooth throughout and sites and roads clearly marked. Appreciated the serenity of the space and the beauty of the coast. Outhouses were some of the cleanest and well maintained we have used, and the shower houses are as well. Peaceful and beautiful. Can’t wait to go back!

Pretty state park with both campground and day use options. Property has clean bathrooms/showers, dump station with both black flush and fresh water supply. Dirt/gravel washboard roads, some low tree overhang at multiple locations, big rigs might have limited access. Some of the day use picnic sites were over grown with weeds and tall grass.

Lucky enough to have had a perfect weather day this past week! Mondays are quiet and had the whole day use area to ourselves. Felt so relaxing and inspiring with all the great nature and views. They shelter cabin is cool in the day use area. Rangers were very nice as well. Clean facilities. For sure, I will be coming back for camping and a longer day.

Amazing bay side campsite- breathtaking views of the sunset and sunrise and the tidal area right in front of our campsite! We camped for two nights and it was so enjoyable both nights. Good camping facilities (men’s restroom shower was a little cold) and incredibly convenient parking.

We were actually not even planning on stopping here on our way up US1, but the reviews looked interesting. We ended up camping here for a week. Some of the most stunning views we’ve seen almost anywhere. Very quiet peaceful and serene. The only negative I can come up with is there is very little hiking here and access to the water areas is a little challenging. But it’s a great area of the country and you can sit by the shore and watch the water for hours.

It was an okay place to stay. I was a little disappointed with the access to the Bay nature trail down to the boat ramp was an adventure climbing over things that have fallen over the path for who knows how long was hard to even find your way. The other thing that I was disappointed in was people not paying attention to the driving rules. Sometimes going too fast. Others going the wrong way on a one-way road. It was nice that the bugs were not very bad.

Extremely nice State Park with fantastic bay side picnic spots. Had picnics two different days: one day did breakfast and hiked; the second day used a different picnic spot and did lunch and hiked.

Yelp
Awesome campground, clean facilities (but put toilets throughout except for the central confortable station) and nice you can buy ice and firewood on site.

Yelp
Best kept secret in Maine. Beautiful camp sites, nice hiking trails and walks. When the snow is right groomed cross country skiing trails!

Yelp
After reading so many wonderful reviews, i had to check this place out. The park staff was very friendly, even offering us a waterfront site upon arrival. However, nothing could prepare us for our encounter with the true hosts of the park. The mosquitoes . No amount of deet would keep them off. To make matters worse, the park showers were very old, a bit creepy and open to mosquitoes flying in. You basically have to shower and fight mosquitoes at the same time. Brush up on your Kung foo skills before arrival. There are many beautiful locations in and around this park. However, in my honest opinion the setting is similar to a plethora of other coastal locations in Maine (not as far north and less mosquito infested). If visiting in July be sure to come prepared with a good repellent and try to avoid using the park showers if possible.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here every summer from Belfast, ME since my early childhood. We love it here - it's a gorgeous part of the world, well located between Lubec and Eastport, inexpensive, and has amazing, spacious, well cared-for, clean, diverse, and beautiful campsites. There's one for everyone - wooded, near the water, close together, more isolated - whatever you like! There's several beautiful hikes, a playground, a day use area, group sites, good stars, and clean outhouses and a shower house. There's reservable and non-reservable sites - a little secret? The non-reservable ones are prettier! But they're first come, first serve, so get there early! We love it here and you will too!

Yelp
Spent Memorial Day weekend up here with the beau and dog. Beautiful uncrowded campgrounds with a good mix of reserved and unreserved campsites with firepits (I think the reserved sites are more secluded than the unreserved ones). Our reserved site had a gorgeous view of the water and could easily have fit three cars. Our check in was super easy at the ranger station, and service was friendly and helpful. You can also check out clam digging equipment for free and buy firewood. As for hiking, there's only one real nature trail/hike at the park(3 miles, fairly easy), so you'll likely have to drive to another park to do some more hiking. This is also one of the campsites that allows dogs (on leash) and our pup loved it. There's a well groomed picnic area in the middle of the park that's perfect if you're not camping (if only dogs were allowed off leash here!). Bathrooms are outdoors but clean, and hot showers are available and pretty clean as well. There are also outlets at the showers if you're in need of a charging station. Side note: Before you head to Downeast Maine, please note that there is no cell phone reception north of Bar Harbor unless you're still on US Cellular. You may want to grab a paper map or download an electronic map before you fall off the grid.

Yelp
This is a beautiful state park right off Route 1 with tent and camper sites. Lots of restrooms, a large playground, many picnic shelters, clean showers and some group campsites. Also some good short hiking trails. There is a nature trail from the parking lot right off route 1 that leads to the Burnt Cove Overlook. It's a little steep toward the top, but aside from that a fairly easy hike. The scenic overlook gave a good view of Broad Cove. Anthony's Beach Trail ran from site 17M to 20U, through the woods and by the beach and boat launch. Just follow the blue trail markers. The campground was well maintained and many of the sites offered privacy.

Yelp
they have a shower house and some beautiful campsites, a lot of not so great campsites and a few terrible ones. the lady working is very unhelpful and we wondered if she had put us in a terrible mosquito ridden hole at the picnic sites on purpose and would not let us switch to a different decent picnic site. or even rent another picnic site all together. in spite of this it's still beautiful enough, tho i'm not sure what you pay for. there are random spigots along the road for water and a bathhouse with decent warm showers (free/unlimited) and pit toilets that line the roads. I'm not sure what the day use point of this place would be as it doesn't seem to have trails or accessible coast (all taken up by campsites/picnic sites? your not allowed to stay at?). what even is a picnic site?? anyway, the picnic site (2) (DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE PUT THERE EVER) we were in had literally a SINGLE flat place (kind of) for a tent and she put us here because we were a group of 7 and needed two sites lol because we were 1 person over the mandated 6. however most of the campsites have actual flat spots to pitch tents and would have fit our 4 tents much better, so you explain that one. it was so distressing to me, i cried. most likely will not return

Yelp
Not a nice campground. We came in late August. The mosquitoes were terrible and we ended up just staying away from camp until after dark, then going to bed at 8 pm. We had looked forward to a fire and roasting marshmallows, but they were just too bad. The trees are so thick along the water front sites that you can't enjoy the view of the water from your campsite. Cutting them back would also allow more sunlight and a breeze at the campsites to keep the mosquitoes down. Pit toilets around are everything you'd expect - a gagging smell. Shower house wasn't nice, but the actual showers were free, And the water pressure was good with nice warm water. We were booked for 2 nights and left after one. It had potential, and some changes could make it a great place.

Yelp
My family and I trekked to Cobscook Bay State Park for Memorial Day weekend and we weren't disappointed. The area where we camped was absolutely gorgeous and so well spaced that you couldn't see the your neighbors at all. The management was very friendly and quite helpful, deftly pulling out a hand-drawn map for us when we expressed interest in visiting the Reversing Falls about 10 miles away. We only hiked one trail within the park limits, but the overlook was absolutely breathtaking and it was a great hike for kids, although a little steep at the end. Also for kids was a terrific playground with newer equipment, a beautiful, well-maintained field and picnic tables and areas to grill. There is also a beautiful day trip area with a huge shelter and plenty of picnic tables. We also explored the more private picnic sites for those who prefer more seclusion. We've camped in many, many state parks within Maine and New England, and this one definitely topped the list for us.

Yelp
This place is absolutely gorgeous! We stayed here last year on the largest group site for our friends' wedding (which was held at the park) and we were instantly sold on this place as our repeat vacation spot. The sites at the last campground we stayed at before this were basically on top of each other and there was zero privacy. This place is the complete opposite. I think we only saw one other camper the whole time. Our camp site was also right on the bay, which is amazing. To sum it up, cobscook bay state park is affordable, remote and pretty. If you want a real camping experience, this is the place to stay!
