Cochon Dingue restaurant was easily accessible in Quebec City premises. It was a super busy Sunday with huge crowd and extremely difficult to find a restaurant to have good. After waiting for more than 20 minutes, we finally got a table at this restaurant for lunch. We didn't have much options to eat due to the busy hour. But whatever we ordered was good. Burger with salad and a beer, was a good combination. Overall it was fine.

The food was absolutely delicious! We didn’t have to wait at all, and we got a table. The space was so nice and cozy. The pork chop was so tasty, and the French onion soup was great! We also ordered a crème brûlée for dessert, and it was absolutely heavenly. Overall, it was a truly memorable dining experience.

Google
The French onion soup was super tasty, highly recommend trying it. The serving staff were super kind and friendly. The chicken cochin was okay. It needed way more gravy and cheese curds. The fish was pretty tasty, the corn sauce on the bottom was a bit over powering from the flavors. The pork chop was tasty and well done.

Google
Pork chop was the BEST!! If you come here, get the pork chop!! I ordered the seafood pasta, back ribs, and pork chop. To be honest, the seafood pasta and ribs were decent but kind of average. Tasted like something you could find at a lot of places. But the pork chop? OMG totally different story. It was so good. The sauce was made with sweet potato, and the flavors were just on point. Such a good combo! Sweet, savory, rich but not heavy. Loved it. Overall the food was good, and the servers were really friendly too. Atmosphere is chill and nice. Don’t miss out on that pork chop!!

Google
Really enjoyed my meal here! I had the baby back ribs with potato wedges and a caesar salad. Everything on the plate was delicious especially the sides which isn’t always the case. The pork was really soft and tasty. A bit too much sauce on the pork for my liking but delicious nevertheless. Service was great. Ambience wasn’t anything special and it was extremely busy and loud in there. So if you aren’t someone who is okay with that, might want to avoid.

Google
I really wanted to give this restaurant a higher rating. The service was incredible, and they even managed to accommodate us with a stroller, which was a huge plus. Unfortunately, the food was quite mediocre, which brought down the overall experience

Karen L

Google
All the food is really good, the poutine was extra memorable - the gravy on it was so good with the squeaky cheese curds. Get it with ham, you won’t regret it.

Google
We were looking for a casual dining experience and the receptionist at our hotel recommended we go here. I love the name, which means “crazy pig”. We saw there were a few locations in Quebec City, but we went to the one in Petit Champlain. I had the salmon, quinoa, and roasted vegetables. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was prepared very well. So, since those are some of my favorite foods, I was happy to find them on the menu and cooked well.

Yelp
Our favorite breakfast while in town visiting! Everything was fresh, we had everything from sweet to savory and were not disappointed

Yelp
It's on the main road along the water. Got seated by a staffer after someone came by the receptionist table. The dining is cut up into several smaller areas around the bar. Ordered the Philly cheesesteak with fries, Cochon Dingue style hot chicken with classic Poitine fries. C$56.16 The hot chicken is not at all what I was expecting or thinking. Hot meant it's warm and not cold and definitely not spicy at all. I can't say I am a huge fan of cheese curds, unless they are deep fried. The Philly cheesesteak wasn't bad. Hot chicken here is not spicy, just warm chicken. Brioche bun is just the chicken on a slice of brioche bread is all. I ate the bits of chicken and slaw. The fries were covered in gravy with big chunks of cheese curd. Food overall was plain and bland. Service was good otherwise.

Yelp
Nice terrace available on the side walk French bistro style set up and furniture. The duck confit salat was great. Good choice of wine by the glass. The service was friendly and efficient

Yelp
Poutin is interesting. I like the sausage but the pork is kinda dry. Cheese is a bit rubbery and weird to chew. A bit too salty for me French onion soup is also too salty for me. Lots of cheese La Passion mocktail's pretty good. Love the smell of passionfruit. Just a little bit too sweet Very French restaurant. Nice staff though

Yelp
This restaurant is probably the best thing I've tried in my entire trip in Canada. The service alone was amazing. I accidentally made a reservation for 2, even though I meant to put 3 and the hostess was happy to make changes with no hesitation. She was nice, friendly, and extremely welcoming. The restaurant inside is so modern and clean, it was pleasing to look at. As for food, my parents and I ordered the Breakfast Poutine and lac st -Jean omelette to share. Everything was SO tasty and not too salty. My parents are picky when it comes to food that is too salty, so this was perfect for them. I highly recommend the breakfast poutine, that was my personal fave. 10/10 would recommend to anyone traveling to Old Quebec.
google avatar

Yelp
Good value for what you get. Friendly service. We had poutine and the chicken salad and the duck salad. The duck salad was delicious. Would definitely get that again!

Yelp
Best cappuccino we had in Quebec City! We came here for breakfast. My husband got the breakfast poutine, soooo good. Look at those cheese curds! I got the Charlevoix plate which includes potatoes, an omelette and a waffle. The omelette was amazing. Potatoes were so good. The waffle was meh but it filled the "sweet" void I needed to fill. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
We stopped here on our trip for a quick dinner and it did just that. The food ended up being a lot better than we thought. We were seated outside without reservations and it got a bit cold towards the end of the meal but it was okay since we didn't make reservations. The place was big and interesting and the vibe was pretty good. The service was nice, although a little slow towards the end as I feel the waitress forgot about us a little since we were outside. The drinks were good. We got a beer and the unexpected which was a tequila based drink. For the starter we got the pork belly with a maple glaze and a side of corn salsa. The dish was okay the real star was the maple glaze which was nice and sweet. The corn salsa also was a good addition to the dish as well. We got the lobster and shrimp roll too and for the price point it was at it was such a good deal! The roll itself was packed with meat and good quality at that. Was very surprised by this item. My main was the 170g steak with peppercorn sauce and fries. I asked for medium rare and was more of a medium but that was okay. The steak was okay nothing special and the sauce was overall pretty good. Nothing about this dish I loved but I didn't hate it either. Finally we got the vanilla crème brûle for dessert. This was out of this world good! It was so creamy and sweet and the sugar on top was crusted perfectly! Overall this place was what we wanted and there wasn't anything necessarily wrong with it. It didn't blow us away at all though. Would still come back though and recommend a try. *this is only our opinion*

Yelp
Food was okay, nothing that stood out. They have a price fixed menu option that comes with an app, entree and desert. We were a party of 5 and was seated in the back. There was no air circulation, by the end of the our meal, we were all dripping in sweat. There were so many flies inside the restaurant and in the bathrooms which is extremely gross. Our waitress was attentive in refilling the water but service for the food was extremely slow. When we finally did get our food, we had to keep swatting the flies around the area which made the whole experience unpleasant. We saw many flies land on the cups and utensils on the empty tables around us. Makes you wonder how clean their kitchen is.

Yelp
We have always come here for breakfast when we visit but the other morning the waitress told us they had the best onion soup so we came for dinner tonight. The wait was long but exactly what they predicted (call for reservations on weekends) but the meal was terrific. My beet (yes, beet!) tartare was delicious as was my pasta, and my husband said his onion soup and pork chop was the best dinner he had the whole trip. And the server was the best!

Yelp
Found this spot about our wear about as in Quebec. We decided to try it and ordered the Poutine and falafel. My boyfriend loved the poutine although he did comment he wished they were made with smoked meat vs the sausage. I had the falafels. Personally best falafels I've had. The marinara sauce is lemonishy which gives it a good kick and the linguine is mixed with veggies, delicious. The service was 10/10 and the restaurant was also very clean I would come back.

Yelp
Wow ! Just wow ! Currently finishing my meal . I ordered a pear mimosa and got the Lac St.Jean omelette which comes with a side of toast ( apple butter( strongly recommended ) or house ham made from strawberries and raspberries) and fried potatoes . All breakfast items come with unlimited coffee or one cappuccino or cafe au lait . Juice however is not included . Although the food didn't look like much when it arrived it was truly one of the best breakfast meals I've had. The omelette was fluffy and creamy due to the cheese curds which also provided a slight sharp taste to the overall dish . All of the ingredients within the omelette were also perfectly cooked . The potatoes remind me of the style I cook at home as they use scallions to season them and we're super delightful . The apple butter was as another user said is the best apple butter you will ever have in your life . Super fresh and tart and smooth . If you love apples / apple sauce you will love this . Pear mimosa was the second best mimosa I've ever had in my life . Service was great . Mølanie my server was super friendly and patient with me with all of the questions I had . Please note they really don't do substations or modifications . Also street parking which is paid is competitive as it's located right near the ferry and the edge of old Quebec near the fornicular ( super touristy area ). The worst item was the tap water I was served . I don't believe it was filtered and actually tasted like terrible tap water .But to be fair I am a water snob and it's unfair to deduct points for that . Total came out to be 42 Canadian with tax and tip, which is about $ 31 usd . Not cheap ... especially for breakfast. Highly recommend this place if you're in Quebec want to stop somewhere to get Breakfast and have money to burn.

Yelp
Talk about a pricey dinner for such tiny food! It is tasty, but I paid way too much for what seemed like pub food. I also felt largely ignored because I was one person and was overshadowed by larger groups ahead of me. On a positive note, I got a free appetizer as my server accidentally gave me someone else's order of wings thinking it was mine. Oh well, free food is great! I did hear it is better to come for brunch, but I was here on vacation and knew I had other restaurants to try, so I decided to let it pass. It gets busy here quick, so get a table fast before you have a long wait ahead of you.

Yelp
A solid place directly at the heard of touristy downtown on Rue du Petit Champlain. I wanted to try the breakfast menu items, but I was only able to make it for dinner during my visits. The price is slightly on the higher side, given the location, but the food itself was decently solid. On the different occasions here, I ordered their shrimp and lobster roll with a yuzu seltzer and their tofu rice dish with veggies for takeout. I really enjoyed their shrimp and lobster roll and would definitely recommend it--the fries were surprisingly to my taste as well. The tofu rice dish left much to be desired. Tofu was a bit too firm and bland, and the creamy sauce that filled the dish seemed slightly, but the veggies and rice were good. The staff that seated me when I dined in was nice, though they seemed busy. I do have to say it would likely help if signage was clearer outside to let people know that they have to wait at the counter to be seated! It seemed like outside it was noted that the entrance was one side (there's 2 doors) and that wasn't the side of the counter so I saw a couple of folks sit down slightly confused and was sorta scolded that they should've waited at the counter to be sat down by the staff. Overall, I would still definitely recommend it as a good choice to have a meal in the busy downtown area!

Yelp
Quaint with nice ambience. Service was good with friendly staff. Quality of food was excellent and a very unique way of making omelets!

Yelp
Wonderful food and service! Long wait though so make reservations One of our faves in QC

Yelp
Wowza. My favorite breakfast spot. Great service. Indoor and outdoor seating. Meals include unlimited coffee or you can have 1 speciality drink such as a cappuccino. You can order 1-2 eggs for your Benedict, which I feel every restaurant should give this option. The potatoes that came with it were wonderful. You ALSO get a choice of bread so of course I chose the baguette. Comes with choice of homemade jam such as strawberry/raspberry or apple butter. I had the spinach, mushroom, and Brie Benedict and it was superb. My husband had the Classic. 2 eggs, potato, bread, and choice of meat. They gave us a complimentary strawberry mango yogurt shot. So refreshing. We are definitely going back everyday of my trip.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great experience. Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly and even brought a sample of a smoothie to try. Ordered an omelette which came with a side of potatoes that were cooked just the way I like them, a little crispy. Plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options.

Yelp
Looking for the best place for breakfast or brunch in the old part of the city? Then look no further! Cochen Dinque (or Crazy Pig in English) has got you covered. First off, it's easy to make a reservation online. Second, this restaurant is huge and offers so many options you can easily visit for breakfast multiple times during your visit to Quebec City. I like the yogurt. It comes with fresh fruit and granola. It's a very generous portion too. Adding bacon is a must. It's the crazy pig after all! The bacon is crisp, American-style bacon. Where the restaurant really shines is in the staff. They are so fun (and funny). Our server brought us small glasses of strawberry mango smoothie for free and proudly declared "it's time for shots!" when she placed them in front of us. They have a full bar and plenty of brunch cocktails too. The coffee options range from plain black coffee to lattes and espresso. If you're planning a morning of shopping or want to grab breakfast before a boat tour, this is your place.

Yelp
A go to spot when in Quebec the poutine is awesome and the steak is delicious!! Very cute inside , make reservation on a weekend

Yelp
I stopped by Cochon Dingue Champlain for breakfast a while ago. They were quite attentive even though they were busy. In terms of food, I tried their Duck Confit Eggs Benedict. Note that the meal includes a choice of a drink and I opted for Hot Chocolate. The Hot Chocolate was nice and rich. For the Duck Confit Eggs Benedict was really good. The eggs were done to the right cookedness, the duck was not overwhelming but had a nice flavour and brought out a duck taste. The duck was slightly dry so the sauce (being a bit more sour than other places) complimented it really well. Having the egg+duck+sauce together also made the eggs benedict quite different from others, as it tasted more dense and had more substance. The potatoes and toast were okay (slightly soggy and too hard), and the apple butter was really refreshing. Overall, I'd give it 8.8/10

Yelp
Cochon Dingue was an absolutely charming restaurant!!! This restaurant is unique in its pig decor. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. For our group of six, We ordered the cochon trio for starters, and their Quebec pork ribs, also an order of their Tout Cochon Poutine (their fries were a bit over cooked ), onion soup and topped it off with their delicious creamy creme brûlée..all around amazing experience!!!!
google avatar

Namron L.

Yelp
We had ribs, steak, French onion soup, all very good, especially the fries, salads are fresh. Service was great, water refills, clean space. English ok with staff.

Yelp
Our breakfast was so good, we went back again the next day! We loved that coffee is included! Everything from the oatmeal to the waffles to the omelette was delicious!! Next time we're in Quebec City, we'll come back!

Yelp
Omg this place is awesome!!! Food is amazing! Staff is extremely friendly and nice, kids friendly environment! Their seafood linguine is soooo good! Decor of the place is very interesting and nice too! Definitely recommend this place to all tourists and locals! Loved it!

Yelp
I took my mom here during our stay in Québec City. Our server, a young man named David, provided attentive, thorough, and friendly service. For us, the highlight of the meal was the beef tataki with rice vermicelli. Very flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the sauce complemented the beef just right. I felt that the steak for my main dish was a bit under-seasoned. The fries and salad were great, but the dingue sauce was a little too sweet for my liking; I haven't had it before though so that might just be what dingue sauce is like. Would go back to try another dish for sure. Wonderful service and ambiance and good quality and tasting food overall.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best breakfast that both of us have ever had great service we had eggs with fresh crêpes. It was incredible. The coffee and the the lodge bowl was amazing as well.

Yelp
I can see why some reviewers said they ate here every day. Amazing flavor. Lots of options. Really friendly staff. Nice decor too.
google avatar

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. Literally go ANYWHERE else to eat ANY meal and make sure the manager's name is not MICHAEL. If you have a reservation for 8PM and manage to be seated an hour earlier, you will still be served cold food after an hour wait. And this is only if you ask the manager to check on your order since your waitress never came back, and they find and tell you that the "order ticket got lost". You should not expect the manager to show his face again. If you speak English, you will be seated with your "kind" in a corner in the back. We did find the manager before we left and asked his name, which he reluctantly gave to us laughing at a table with his coworkers. If you want to be treated like merde, this is the place to go!
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and good prices. Must try the multi-course meals for adults and kids! Get a seat in the street if you can, only makes the experience more exciting!

Yelp
As we looked for a place to eat on a busy weekend, we stumbled upon this one after passing by many that we weren't too convinced on. This restaurant was busy and had a wait list going on. We liked the menu options so we got added to the list and did not wait more than 20 minutes :) we sat outside and were promptly waited on. We started with a bottle of wine which was nice. I got the seafood mixed entree which was tasty, and my husband got the steak which was also good. Unfortunately I was low on battery and had put my phone to charge so didn't get to take pictures of the plates. We ended the night with cappuccino and creme brulee. So good! Service was on point and the outdoor seating was enjoyable.
google avatar

Angie P.

Yelp
This place is so cute on the inside! The service was great, super fast and the lady was very sweet and they also offer English menus! They didn't ask if we wanted any drinks but I mean that's not a big deal! My burger was yummy, a little bit dry but they had sauce I didn't add on until the end, my sisters fried chicken was yummy but it was more of an oven baked chicken than fried, my moms sandwich was good! The poutine was not that hat great, definitely better places you could go in the city, the gravy was odd and the cheese curds weren't fully melted and the regular fries were just okay. All in all though the portions were perfect for lunch time and it was super comfy and a great place for lunch!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
We selected Cochon Dingue for the nice variety the menu offered. We liked that we were able to easily make reservations and came back a second day in a row because we were so happy with the first night's dinner. Our meals the first night were much better than the second. On day one we ordered the Salmon and the Pot en Pot. We finished the meal with the sugar pie. All were very good but the pot en pot was fantastic. It truly lived up to the hype and had a generous amount of fish in the filling. On night two, we had the gnocchi and grilled tiger prawns. These dishes were average at best. Overall, great service and atmosphere make this a solid dinner option while you are in old Quebec City!
google avatar

Joe V.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service - thank you Lawrence for taking great care of us! We were seated outside on a beautiful sunny day for brunch- so charming. The food was cooked to perfection and timely. We were seated promptly and not rushed. Breakfast is served with a latte and we opted for savory : sweet. The CHARLEVOIX PLATE fit the bill. We also enjoyed the breakfast poutine - A must if you have never tired them !! Enjoy !!

Yelp
Best service we had in Quebec City! Phenomenal food, awesome staff, and a great place to people watch! We were seated on the front patio for lunch. It faces the sidewalk and road so we watched people passing by as we were eating. I ordered the duck salad and my mom ordered the shrimp salad. This was my first time trying duck and I was surprised with how much I enjoyed it! Our waitress was very sweet and on top of things. I wish I could remember her name! She was great. If you're visiting Quebec City, this place is a must-stop! Check it out for yourself!

Yelp
The sugar pie is an absolute! Have never had a chance to try their entrees. But their desserts are delicious!
google avatar

Charlie V.

Yelp
We came for breakfast/brunch. Good service, great value/portions and yummy food. All entrees come with a drink and the kids meal was perfect and had many options to customize for picky little eaters. We came back the next morning!

Yelp
Nice outdoor seating with friendly service and tasty food. We had the fish and chips and beef dip. Great people watching and atmosphere.

Yelp
Amazing brunch spot. Excellent food for the price, even got free hot chocolate that was great. Great service with english speaking staff and menu. Sailor themed interior with a pig statue on the street that is great to take a picture with.
google avatar

Marjorie W.

Yelp
Really really enjoyed our visit! Delicious food, charming ambiance, and impeccable polite & quick service. Particularly loved the crepes with maple cream and the cranberry bread that came with the yogurt. Only wish we had come hungry for a big brunch rather than just a light breakfast--or that we were staying longer so we could return.
google avatar

Yelp
Here for a couple of days on business and so glad to have doing this place. Beautiful breakfast stop. Lots of variety. Vegan and vegetarian options. Delish. Great service. Surprised the rating is higher. Highly recommend

Yelp
Brunch place, no wait line on a Wednesday, pretty nice environment Employees speak both French and English Was looking for something healthy, so got a local healthy start plate, swapped the English muffin for their house made cranberry bread, which I really like The omelette in Lac saint jean was kinda like poutine cheese, pretty good too Thé breakfast came with a choice of coffee, ordered a Latte and it was served in a bowl

Chia L.

Yelp
We had a crepes with seasonal fruits, ham and mushroom stuffed crepes, and the brunch plate. A strawberry smoothie large was shred amongst three of us. And there were three small cups of strawberry smoothie on the house.
google avatar

Carl N.

Yelp
For how hyped up local Quebec City residents talk about this place I was pretty disappointed. Food was decent but not as good as everyone says. Better off going to some greasy spoon breakfast spot than here.

Jodi V.

Yelp
We were searching for breakfast spot and were so happy to find this gem! Great service, good food, and cute decor.

Yelp
Food was good. Sertvice exepcional and quick. Ambiance chilling a lot of si visitor! Not too expensive !

Yelp
Seriously , this is my favorite restaurant of all time, I wish we have one in the U.S., but I wouldn't mind fly 4 hours to Canada to have brunch at Cochon Dingue, it's worth it! Here are the reasons why I love this place so much: 1. All breakfasts are served with regular coffee or latte or cappuccino or espresso or old fashioned hot chocolate. We both got the old fashioned hot chocolate, it was the world's best cup of hot chocolate! It was thick and creamy, velvety smooth, sumptuously rich, and not too sweet, just purely heavenly, comforting, and good for the soul. The portion is huge, each person gets about 2 full cups, and same for their coffee too, served in jumbo mugs. 2. Food is AMAZING. Huge portions, and everything is cooked to perfection. We got the: 1)brunch plate, which comes with two eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, cranberry bread, maple butter crêpe, cretons, baked beans and sweet treat. You get to try a little bit of everything, all the flavors are balanced together, it is so fun to eat this plate. It comes with a shot of strawberry smoothie, how cute is that! 2) ham and mushroom stuffed crepes. This is not your typical crepes, it is a baked crepes topped with creamy melted cheese. It warms up your heart and body. Fried potatoes are crunchy and delicious. 3. Price is very very reasonable, especially given the potion sizes, the location of the restaurant, the quality of the food, and the delicious cup of drink each brunch order comes with. Best bang for your buck. Definitely recommend you call and get a reservation ahead of time. It is almost impossible to be seated without a reservation here. If you are in Quebec City, you have to try this place!

Yelp
Oh, my god. This place is so good. 7 stars. No. 10 stars. I don't know, I don't have words--and I always have words. ‍ OK. I'm from Pennsylvania, like a proud Pennsylvanian born and bred. We love our apple butter. So to see apple butter featured on this menu in QC, I thought OK I have to have that. A taste of home. Warmed my heart. But the *actual* apple butter? What the heck! It was like nothing I've ever tasted. Amazing. Listen, this is like a Texan saying they found good BBQ in Minnesota. But it was mind-blowingly good. There was a brightness to it, and a creaminess. And it was light in color, not dark. It's probably just the usual in Quebec--but it was so good. I will be checking my carry-on when I fly home--because I *had* to buy a jar. And that's just the apple butter. Let's talk for a minute about the oatmeal. So. Good. It's like when I had French Onion Soup in France, and I knew I'd never have it from Panera again? This was actual maple cream from Quebec, and caramelized apples and pecans... it's like Plato's allegory of the cave, if the cave was Quaker oats. And then! I thought my mind was blown enough already... but then I tasted my friends' eggs Benedict with duck confit and ham, respectively. I don't have duck often. Seldom enough, honestly, that I didn't remember what it tasted like. It was like really, really, really good turkey. It was amazing. And then the ham... I mean it's in the name of the place. So, so good. The service was fantastic too. And lovely ambience, bright, by the window, near the water. Seriously? Might be one of the best breakfasts of my life. No hyperbole. Completely unexpected. Don't miss it! (Update: Somehow this review never posted at the time, a couple months ago. But, no joke, in the meantime I loved this place so much the picture of my breakfast is literally the home screen on my phone. XD)

Yelp
The food was exceptional. They had the best coffee I've ever had. I would recommend ordering a bowl of it. The waiter was great. A very pleasant experience all the way around.
