Best breakfast burrito of my LIFE on god. The sausage one is the best. Owner is super friendly, calls everyone friend and you can tell he means it. Service is fast, coffee is good. Not much seating but it's fine. I was in the store for about 20 minutes and in that time I saw three regulars come in and he knew them all by name and I think that's a really good indicator of how good a place is. Highly recommend. I will be back

The place is operated by the owner it seems. We had a Cappuccino and Machiatto, a California Breakfast Sandwich and a Lemon Bar. All was good and fresh! Service was also fast! We spent $20. I just wish the place had some music or something to make it more appealing. Inside it has two (or 3) small tables with two chairs and some stools by the window. Nice selection of juices, coffees and sandwiches.

The chicken pesto panini here is hefty and good. Good crisp on the bread from the press, and everything goes together quite well. The cafe is also a bit of a general store with packaged snacks and desserts, which is a plus.

Really solid meal choice if you need something quick and we’ll made. I got the Californian breakfast sandwich on sourdough - it was well made and only cost $5.50. It’s hard to beat that value.

The owner was so friendly, the food was delicious and great value for money. My family and I needed breakfast before getting on the road, and Coco Cafe did not disappoint. The breakfast burrito, bagel, and an assortment of breakfast sandwiches were all heartily enjoyed by my hungry fam. The smoothies are also really good! Make this one of your food stops while in Oakland!

Not a bad place for a light salad. I ordered the Booberry Salad without the blue cheese and asked for parmesan as a substitute. They were very accommodating. I pre-ordered and didn't have to wait in any line. The salad itself was ok, average. No complaints. There wasn't anything that really made it different. The roasted bed peppers were a good addition though.

Didn't honor their posted hours (which Google says were edited by the owners recently). Arranged to meet someone there at 2 (hours say open until 4 daily) and they were closed. No notice, no sign, no apology.

I have walked by Coco Cafe many times, and it is now currently named Lulu Cafe, but finally decided to order ahead online for takeout and pick it up on a Tuesday lunchtime. Pickup experience was fast. Melanzana sandwich: A little spicy due to the jalapeno; I am not someone who can handle spicy food. I liked the oozy cheese. Overall, I enjoyed the proportions of eggplant, pesto, red peppers, and pesto since I felt they were well balanced so that no one ingredient was too overpowering, and the ciabatta was nicely toasted. Almond latte, large, 2% milk: It has the sweet and tangy flavor that you would find in almond cookies or similar almond desserts. I personally wasn't really a fan of this so I would probably try a different drink next time.

Coco/Lulu ~ This is still my favorite cafe after so many years, no matter the name. Everything from my original review stands.

Cute, rustic little place. Here for the coffee. And my drink was quite good. They had some other things, sandwiches and such but I couldn't eat them. I liked them because they were within walking distance of where my meeting was and they also had a very good latte. The service was very good. The gentleman working behind the counter was nice. I believe they may have had some tables inside, but it was a bit dark and cramped, so I took my latte down the street to my meeting.

The Breakfast veggie sandwich: You have the option of slice white or whole wheat bread. The fillings are cucumber, avocado, cream cheese and spinach, (they might of ran out of sprouts). I added an egg and I'm happy with that decision. The sandwich was satisfying and the veggies were fresh. The coffee: self serve house blend was on the lighter side but it did the trick. I plan to be back and try one of their smoothies. The service was quick and friendly! Small place with a lot of options for breakfast and lunch. The owner was friendly and was pleasant to chat with while I was waiting for my sandwich. Has the eggplant veggie sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in years. Would love to continue supporting this small business as it sounds like business is slow with the remote work trend.

Really great little cafe with a surprisingly good menu. Lots of vegetarian options, breakfast sandwiches, fruit smoothies and more. Good for grab and go drinks, too. Super nice guy behind the counter.

Nice, quick service and good food. Ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese croissant breakfast sandwiches and they were tasty. Came out to be a little over $13 for both.

Very friendly owner, very tasty food and coffee. Also the most fair and reasonable prices I have seen anywhere in the Bay Area in YEARS. Small shop so not a lot of seating but great for quick bite or grab to go.

Coco Cafe is the sandwich shop right next door to the Kaiser Admin building on Franklin Street (between 19th & 20th St) in downtown Oakland. I have probably grabbed a sandwich here dozens of times, and never realized I haven't left a review for them. So, I made it a point to order some sandwiches, so i can post some photos to go with this review. Recently, I ordered a roast beef sandwich, a lox bagel, a breakfast croissant, and an egg salad sandwich. All were good, but I especially enjoyed the Egg Salad on wheat. This sandwich was just packed with fresh egg salad, and had crunchy red onions and pickles. OMG, it was tasty! The cool thing about this cafe is that it stays open until 4pm. Which is good for nearby workers who take mid-afternoon breaks. So you have a place to grab coffee and/or a sandwich. They basically serve drinks like coffee, tea, and juices. And menu items like: breakfast bagels and croissants, salads, sandwiches, and a vegan items. Incredibly reasonable price for a huge sandwich! I usually go to another sandwich place, but they were closed so ended up here. Very nice gentleman behind the counter. Fresh ingredients, really nice place. Highly recommend as, did I say reasonable price yet? And I agree totally with the Lisa W leaving the prior review. Thanks to her for being so complete!

First time trying this place out and it was love at first bite. Currently eating as I type this. Usually I'm bummed when I get a wheat sammy but this one is packed with all the goods that every great sandwich should have. I only had one sip of my protein shake but I love it. I will definitely come back here! Thank you!!

Was starving and waiting for an appointment so decided to walk by here for a quick bite. Seems like a standard work-hour order-and-go lunch spot with a variety of sandwiches and snacks. I probably wouldn't go for any of the packaged snacks unless you're desperate, but the actual menu items on the board seem like a fair deal. I got the breakfast veggie sandwich which was really yummy especially with the cucumbers giving it a fresh crunch. Thought there would be sprouts in it like in the description but I didn't see or taste any - oh well, maybe they ran out. Convenient café though.

Great value and super convenient. Great quick stop for a hot breakfast and yummy coffee for under $15! The guy at the front is really nice and works hard. Food is good and is definitely cheap! Worth the stop. No room to really sit and eat. This is a pickup convenience store.

I had the chicken shawarma wrap. There's nothing shawarma about it--the chicken is processed white chicken chunks that have no shawarma spices or flavoring. This is a bad American fast food fake of a good dish. We also ordered soup and when we got back with the food the lid was off and the soup everywhere.

My partner picked up some sandwichs For us to enjoy during lunch. He is a big fan of this place as it is family owned and has been a staple in the community for some time. He got me the tuna sandwich on wheat. The tuna was overflowing and tasted fresh. He got a breakfast sandwich on a bagel, and he said he really enjoyed it. I highly suggest you check this place out for some coffee, a quick bite to eat and to support a local business.

I've grown to enjoy my morning walks to Coco- even if it is 3 blocks away from work. But, the affordable food and convenience make it worth the trip. Breakfast items are super affordable- croissants, bagels (under $3 with cream cheese), english muffin sandwich ($4.50 with all the fixings) at more affordable prices compared to other breakfast spots around. Plus, their smoothies are under $5! You really can't beat that anywhere in Uptown Oakland. Really convenient grab and go breakfast spot, I have yet to try their lunch offerings (Paninis and wraps), but I'll have to update this review when I've done so!

I love the local feel of this place--and the local-friendly prices. I get the tuna melt every time, and every time it's the perfect size, stacked with extras (jalapeños and tuna belong together) and very fresh. Bonus: a gigantic selection of candy and chips to feast your eyes on while you wait for your hot panini to be made.

Huge fan of this adorable little coffee and sandwich shop. Placed an order online for 3 coffees, as I wanted to deviate from the usual big chains of Lees Coffee, Starbucks, Bicycle, and Peet's. I was surprised that I could get an Iced Latte in a large size for $4. Upon entering, I was greeted by the person managing the cashier, the coffee orders, and the sandwiches. There was a decent amount of early morning activity and the tired-eyed people waiting for their orders. I was surprised that the person managing was able to get people in and out was such expedience, although it seemed most people came for their coffee orders. Their menu had items that ranged from sandwiches to smoothies, coffees and teas, and other breakfast and brunch items - a typical café but more extensive. They also had baked goods and packaged juices and boxes for purchase, handy for people on the go. The order, which was estimated to be about 10 minutes, came out close to 15 minutes, which wasn't awful and understandable seeing how one person was handling everything. I was a bit surprised that, the online platform didn't have the option to customize anything (i.e. add syrup to a soy latte, or make a vanilla latte iced) but the person at the front accommodated everything without any hassle. I think the service deserves a complete 100%/5 of 5 stars.

The food was great! Very fast service and to to it off the coffee was delicious!!! Definitely glad we walked in this place.

The gentleman working the counter is great! The prices are very fair for what you're getting. My current favorite is the chicken pesto panini, it's super yummy! It's also open for breakfast but it's a little out of my way on my way to work - I might try on a non work day!

I unexpectedly stopped by here due to almost being hangry and oh man ! You won't regret it Really good ! I definitely recommend giving it a try!

This place is great for a quick pick-up for breakfast or lunch. The place is always nice and clean, the staff and owner are helpful. Lots of great options for sandwiches (wraps, paninis etc.) and you can usually customize any of the options! Amazing quality for the price too. Bread always tastes fresh and flavorful, same for the ingredients. Smoothies don't taste like artificial syrup or juice was used but actually real fruit. They also have a nice array of chips and snacks that you can pop in to buy if you've got a craving. Highly recommend for a casual, cheap but delicious high-quality meal

Absolutely lucked up on this gem walking the neighborhood looking for lunch. I am a leasing agent at 17th and Broadway and 19th and Harrison and having a delicious spot for both breakfast and lunch is a godsend. I highly recommend this place and have enjoyed eating here throughout the pandemic, and look forward to continuously eating here beyond. The gent is so awesome! I think he may even be the owner. Either way, he's an absolute sweetheart, I recommend the most delicious things, and it's always right.

Fresh baked good. Muffins to donuts to bagels. They make sandwiches and smoothies. A little place to get breakfast. The manager, Ravi is very nice and remembers everyone's name. Nice guy and very professional. The two ladies that work the counter and back are very nice and on point. I like to pick up toasted bagels in the morning from them. Fresh bagels everyone morning. Stop by and get a bagel and say hello to the team.

Came here during my breaks at my training at Kaiser next door and it's a small spot with lots of food options, drink options, snacks, and candy. It was one man working all alone and there were multiple rushes of people, but he managed to get everything done. I ordered a banana and strawberry smoothie with oat milk and added protein for an extra dollar. The next day I order the tuna melt for lunch which was delicious. I also ordered a iced matcha latte, but it was okay I could've passed with that one. Since there's only one person running it there can be a wait to get your food or drink, but I don't think it's too bad. I would recommend this place for a quick grab and go.

Best menu with lots of vegetarian options. I tried the caprese sandwich and hummus sandwich. Both were delicious. I also tried the tomato basil soup and baked goodies and loved them all. Perfect place to pickup food for picnics or anytime really!

Frequent this place maybe once a week as the owner is very kind and goes out of his way to offer additional things he'd think I'd like in my sandwiches. I always get the breakfast burrito and it hits every time. Good deal for the amount of food considering it's downtown, make sure to stop by and support your local businesses!

I am a breakfast lover! This place has the mix of all the things I enjoy. I order the California breakfast sandwich specifically. Been there twice now in past 2 weeks. Consistent, fresh, ample serving, excellent price. Highly recommend!!! Have visited a couple other nearby and they are good, this is great.

Excellent sandwich. The very nice and professional owner paid special attention to my "veg only" requests. I loved the many bread options - and toasted. Nice soup options and other items to add to your meal. Welcoming environment.

Got the breakfast burrito with "sausage". It was bland and the sausage was more like a hotdog. Could not convince myself to eat more than half.

Delicious and friendly. Sandwiches are a notch above others in a big way. The sandwiches taste homemade, healthier and made with love. The roast beef has pickles, saucy and just feels like someone really cared when they made it. The salad and sandwich combo is one of the best values in the area and tastes so good. Coffee is also good, have not done breakfast but can't imagine they do anything bad. Their falafel is actually better than falafel boy next door, which is just weird.

The food is always good, and the service is GREAT! Support your local and eat here if you want to try something new and yummy :)

Coco Cafe is situated amongst parking meters and loading zones. small place with a few tables. menu: smoothies, panninis, (cheaply priced, 5.95+). breakfast sandwich, expressos, pastries. brew: "organic coffee co"-house blend ($1, sm) -suppossedly hawaiian beans, smooth, floral taste 4+ stars eats: egg breakfast sammie on toast (2.5) -fresh egg, hot toast. yum! crumbs: -great service, good stuff -parking sucks here....

Prefect spot for a grab and go breakfast. Staff is extremely friendly and quick. And you can't beat the prices in the area. The food and coffee is always fresh. The Cafe itself is small but is clean. I recommend the lox bagel and vanilla late. *Tip- this place does get quite busy during the lunch hours, and you may have to wait a while for your food.

Underwhelming and EXTRA ordinary. I had the gobbler which was supposed to be smoked turkey and avocado. It was processed Oscar Myer turkey. The bread was fresh but the sandwich was nothing special. I also had the tomato basil soup which was watery and tasted like dirty water. It was horrible. Well, I gave it a shot.

Wonderful little hole in the wall in Uptown Oakland. Wide selection of wraps and salads with a Mediterranean bent, Panini, baked goods and coffee. I love the Cobb and Chef Salads which are a great value at $7.50 Plus i love the huge photo of the Eiffel Tower!

If you care about your health, don't go here. I requested no dairy as I'm lactose intolerant and they put pesto on my sandwich. I ordered from postmates bc I was in bed sick with a really bad cold. Ate half my sandwich and realized there was pesto. When I called they were SO dismissive and unapologetic. I explained to the lady that I would now be vomiting all day (on my already sore throat) and she became defensive and started saying "Okay, what do you want me to do about it?" She kept offering to make a new sandwich. What good would that do? Beware....this place doesn't care about its customers and I wouldn't be surprised if they sold food that's been improperly handled and God knows what else...

Usually go here for breakfast and lunch. They really a lot into their salads and they make great paninis.

I personally love Coco Cafe! Their prices are great and affordable compared to other cafes/food places in the area. Not only that the food is good! I love getting their vegetarian sandwich "Mamma Mia". It always comes out with a nice crunch and it's flavor combination is great. Their bagels are also extremely delicious and their staff is always really nice. This location does get crowded during lunch but it's definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend.

There's a variety of trendy hipster cafes within a block of this place. All of them focus on coloring their hair different colors. This places actually focuses on the product. Coco cafe offers a variety of coffee, smoothies, and sandwiches. In the morning I usually just want a warm breakfast sandwich. Easy request, but somehow Coco cafe is the only place within a half mile radius that knows how to make a sandwich that is warm throughout. For that alone....4 stars my friends. Job well done

Great place! I ordered a chicken panini every time I made a visit. Honestly, one of the best paninis I've ever tasted! For less than 6 dollars, I get this impeccably made piece of heaven that won't make me feel sluggish after devouring it. You'll get the last star when I try your latte! Their latte art is amazing! A lot of their repeating customers showed me pictures on their phones and it's not the typical designs that you expect. The owner is one of the most friendliest and humble people I've met. The overall customer service is just great.

This place has great smoothies (around $5). I'm one for fresh veggies & fruits and other than the pineapple, it's all freshly cut. I ask to add water instead of juice in the smoothies -- I like it better that way. Their salads are good too -- their half salad is $4.50 I think. I'm trying a panini next time.

I had the Vegetarian Panini, I asked for mustard instead of Pesto. It had sundried tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions, basil, mushrooms, and was VERY delicious! If your vegan, maybe check whether or not they grill it with butter or onion, and opt for mustard instead of Pesto. But there were a lot of vegetarian and vegan options! And I definitely want to try a smoothie next time! Oh and there's seating and wifi just ask for the password! :)
