This was one of the most difficult hotel reviews I’ve written because it’s such a mixed experience. Some parts of the hotel have been beautifully renovated, while others feel very dated, which creates a real contrast. Likewise, customer service is a real mix.||The Positives| • Water park: The lazy river and two slides are well maintained and enjoyed by both kids and adults. A definite highlight for families.| • À la carte dining: Some of the food was excellent. At the Italian restaurant, the prawn cocktail (not traditional, but outstanding nonetheless) and the steak were both fantastic. Sushi restaurant was excellent, shout out to Shass for her customer service. Overall, the à la carte restaurants stood out and really made the dining experience.| • Housekeeping: A special thank you to Sepherine in the family block (floor 4). Although the room itself wasn’t amazing, her housekeeping was impeccable, and having a spotless space made a big difference.||The Not So Good| • Renovation contrast: Some areas, such as the sushi restaurant and upstairs bar, feel fresh and modern, but other areas, like the lobby and buffet restaurant, are stuck in the 90s. The buffet in particular feels dated, which impacts the overall dining experience.||• The lobby: is very hot and would benefit from A/C as the fans do little to help the humidity and heat. || • Buffet food: Very hit and miss. While some hot dishes (like the grilled mahi mahi) were excellent, the salmon at breakfast, hot dishes, and breakfast eggs were poor quality compared to other 4* hotels and definitely a 3*. Egg dishes were greasy, juices weren’t freshly squeezed (all had added sugar), though fresh smoothies were a saving grace. Without the à la cartes, the food would have been disappointing.| • Reservation limits: Unlike most large all-inclusive resorts, this hotel limits the number of à la carte reservations per stay. While the intention may be to share access fairly, in reality it restricts guests from enjoying the hotel’s best dining options.| • Customer service inconsistency: Service ranged from excellent to poor depending on the staff member:| • Entertainment club: Mel was rude and aggressive during a Bocce ball game—ignoring rules, making guests keep score, some guests walked away in frustration.|- otherwise, there is a good range of activities for kids and adults which is a plus. | • Reception: Billy refused to let me use the front desk phone for an international call, despite the desk being quiet and no guests waiting until I insisted. This felt unnecessarily unhelpful.| • Water slides: The male staff member supervising the slides was impatient and dismissive. When my child politely asked if he could go (after not hearing the first instruction), the staff member grunted “wait” and even said “I don’t care.” This was not only unprofessional but unnecessarily rude toward children.|• Overall, there is a real mix in customer service across the resort. ||On the whole : |For families, the location is convenient with its proximity to the airport. However, for the price based on my past experiences, your money would stretch further in destinations like the Dominican Republic, Mexico, or Jamaica, where standards are consistently higher
