Coconut Grove Bridgehouse

My children and I had a wonderful stay here. it is only about 3 minutes from the Elmina castle. It's only the Beenu Lagoon separating them. Our room was spacious enough and we were comfortable. The view from the restaurant is great as it overlooks the lagoon and the castle, with an excellent view of the sea too. You see the canoes coming in in the morning and it's in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Elmina. If you want an extremely quiet place, this is not for you. Also note that there is no private car park, so you'd park at the Castle car park. But the castle security takes care of your car. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

It is literally a one minute walk from the Elmina Castle. It also has the closest restaurant with fantastic food.

Delicious food, well priced, hotel brilliant, pretty noisy at night and early morning, right in the heart of local life, brilliant to engage in culture.

We only ate at the restaurant - great views of the castle. The chicken in the red red was unfortunately 80% bone. Apart from that the meal was good

We stayed in a large room with a king size beds and double aspect windows with a great view of the fort. The bedclothes and towels were spotlessly clean. It came equipped with a fridge, necessary for cold water to hand, a TV we didn't try and weak WiFi on the top floor but fine in the restaurant area. Perfectly situated in the harbourside just 150 metres from Elmina Castle of which it has great views and the picturesque hustle and bustle of the village life. Breakfast was enough for a good start to the day with omelette, toast, juice and tea or coffee. Restaurant meals were good quality with a local fish stew at 30GHC, various fish with rice, yam or chips 25 or 30 and just 9GHC for a pint bottle of Club or Star beer. Perfect for a short look at a very busy side of Ghanaian life.

Since I didn't stay overnight at the hotel I can only provide feedback on the restaurant, which served very good food. However, we had to wait a while for the well cooked fish and chips, which meant that we had plenty of time to look at the surroundings. The dining terrace and other parts of the building are being modernized, so it was a bit like eating lunch on a construction site. No doubt it will be pleasant when completed, as the views of Elmina Caste and the entrance to the fishing harbour are excellent. There are also good views of the open sewers and huge quantities of waste floating in the water and on the roadsides. Maybe the municipal authorities could organize a clean up.

I would have reviewed the hotel while there but the WiFi was down. They promised to fix it... The A/C didn't work in the first room, so I asked for a different room. The staff was great at letting us move. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. The fan squeaked all night and the A/C was decent. I wouldn't call a beverage and 3 slices of toast with one jelly packet "breakfast" but that was what was included. However! The location was great because of the proximity to the sights. Near ocean front and short walking distance to the Elmina Castle. It was nice to walk along to river and see the boats coming in. The outdoor sitting area was also open and inviting.

Very acceptable hotel. Good AC. Food selection somewhat limited, although staff made a valiant effort and it was very tasty! Bed was quite sufficient. Hotel has good proximity to the very lively fish market. You can sit on the upstairs covered deck and watch the fishing boats and people of all walks coming and going. Best people watching early and late. Easy walk to Elmina Castle.
