First, I ordered the Mango Bango Chicken sandwich. The waitress misunderstood, and put in the order for the Mango Bango Chicken entree. When she read back the order to us, she just said Mango Chicken - no sandwich, no entree. We discussed just regular fries at the time of ordering, so I was not aware that there was confusion. When the plate arrived, I made the waitress aware I received the entree and not the sandwich. She apologized (it was an honest mistake) and she said just to keep the meal and she would reduce the amount of the meal from the entree to the sandwich price, and bring me a side of french fries.
I shared part of the chicken with my party so they could taste the meal. The waitress returned and let me know that the manager said he couldn't reduce the meal. I needed to return the food and get the sandwich, or keep the food and be charged for the entree. Since we already ate one of the chicken breasts, I didn't feel right sending back the remaining food to get a new dish. Also, I don't understand why the manager wanted the food back. No one was going to eat it.
As for the chicken itself, it did not taste fresh (almost like it was pre frozen and just warmed up for my plate.) You could tell the chicken was not freshly cooked nor was it cooked in the sauce. Rather it tasted like the chicken was heated up and the sauce was just thrown on top. I had a bite of chicken that had no sauce, and it was very bland - no flavor at all.
We have visited Coconut Jack's many times, and, unfortunately, tonight's visit was below your standard. Even my husband's meal was less than par (he had the grouper special). We had guests in town and thought Coconut Jacks was a safe dinner spot. I was sticker shocked that four meals and two drinks was $170! Coconut Jack's was always a reasonable dinner spot, but, unfortunately, tonight's experience was not as pleasurable as our past visits.
I did email the establishment to let them know of our experience and they haven't responded.
