"A few blocks up from the beach, the Coconut Waikiki is a bright and cheery budget-minded boutique hotel. The rooms are plenty roomy (197 to 265 square feet for the standard quarters; up to 1,200 square feet for the largest suites), andall have kitchenettes and private lanais. The look is fresh and modern, with light wood, white linens, and pops of color in armchairs and pillows. Amenities are minimal (no restaurant, no bar, and a teeny pool), but there’s free, speedy Wi-Fi, DIY laundry (for a fee), and, every morning, friendly international guests gathering in the lobby totoast their own waffles at the complimentary continental breakfast."

I chose to stay at the Coconut Waikiki Hotel for a second time after I had had a positive experience in April of 2023. The second time did not disappoint! |I am so pleased with the welcoming friendly service of the hotel staff such that minor inconveniences can easily be overlooked. |The rooms are spacious and quite comfortable. I really appreciate the stocked kitchenette and spacious fridge to help keep food costs lower. Additionally, the beds and well lit aired space is a welcome treat. The bathrooms are a bit dated as my faucets did not work particularly well. It was very clean though throughout the room. |The fitness room is a great amenity, I took advantage of each day of my stay. |The hotel lobby has a large table for big groups, there is a fresh water dispenser, coffee and tea available all day, and popcorn in the afternoon!|The hotel does offer in/out valet service but at a cost $40! Parking is a premium, however, and I must remember I am in Waikiki. |The Coconut Waikiki Hotel is an excellent choice for economic and welcoming comfort in the heart of Waikiki.

We are Oahu residents but stay here once or twice a year just to have a little staycation. It’s a nice boutique hotel. The rates are reasonable, it’s not a ton of people, the rooms have been renovated within the last few years and I love having a kitchenette. The staff is pleasant and helpful, especially the valets. Lord took really great care of us, but all of the guys are super friendly and attentive. Our room did have 2 weird quirks - 1) the curved shower rod is hung incorrectly. The curve is positioned downward so the bar is high on either end and low in the middle, which makes the curtain bunch up in the middle. Hard to keep the water in the shower that way. And 2) There was a loud sound that came on for a few seconds literally every hour for the 6 days we were there. It sounded like a pump or a compressor coming on followed by the sound of water draining or dripping. It came from behind the wall where the AC and TV are mounted, so maybe something to do with the AC? It was just a few seconds but it was loud and often. Room #910. But we love it here. It’s not a high end hotel, but it’s very pleasant and clean and safe - a great value for the price. We’ll be back!

We stayed at the Coconut Waikiki Hotel for 10 days and felt like it was our home base. The entire staff was awesome; hospitable, friendly, and welcoming from start to finish. The door, bell, and valet teammates were especially fantastic; always warm, helpful, and quick with a smile. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the daily housekeeping team was top-notch; friendly, efficient, and consistent. Mahalo nui loa for a memorable family vacation. We’re already looking forward to our next stay!

Google
The hotel was nice and clean. The housekeeping crew and valet very efficient. The only thing I checkout of my room and see duplicate charges for amount of the room and valet I think?? Which they already took when I checked in plus I put a deposit down when I first booked the room. The charges are pending so I hope this gets cleared up. I didn’t expect these charges so this might not be good if customers didn’t have this money in their account to cover.

Had a great experience here for our first visit to Hawaii. Definitely an affordable option and still close to the action. Only a short walk to the beach. Everyone who worked there (with the exception of one lady) was beyond nice and helpful. The valet was quick and friendly. The popcorn and coffee everyday was a great little afternoon treat to look forward to. The pool was nice and clean and never busy which was nice. Our room was clean and spacious. The balcony had a nice view of the canal. Other reviewers commented on the street noise but for being in the heart of the city I wouldn’t say it was anything out of the normal or problem at all. The entire place felt safe over all. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

From check-in to check out, everything was really nice. It is not a fancy hotel but very clean and the rooms were large. Bed and pillows comfy. Had a microwave, refrigerator, and some plates and silverware for eating. Had a big balcony to sit out on and relax and enjoy the breeze. The people working at the front desk were very helpful, always smiling, and kind. Easy walk to lots of shopping, eating, and the beach.

I'm a bit disappointed. Booked this hotel because it served breakfast. No breakfast 😢. The room was okay but a bit small. The carpet was wet when we got there. It was not as clean as I would have liked. There was not much room to move around, and the street noise never seemed to stop. However, if you want a place near the beach with close stores and a nice view of the mountains or just a place to rest your head while traveling, this place works. The pool was warm and clean. The water bottle filling station was nice. Free popcorn every afternoon was good. The staff at the front desk is kind and helpful. There is also a free coffee/tea station if you want something warm to drink. The beds were comfortable, but the sheets were stained and didn't appear to have been changed. They did change our bed right away, but I was not sleeping on dirty sheets. The decor they used for the headboard had spots of something on it. It's not bad but I don't think we will stay there again. Photos are of the beds, the view from our room, and the little smoking section.

I recently stayed at the Coconut Waikiki Hotel for a week and unfortunately, it was far from the relaxing experience I had hoped for. First and foremost, the cleanliness of the room was concerning—there were bugs in the room, which made it very difficult to feel comfortable or at ease. For a hotel in such a prime location, this was a major letdown. Equally frustrating was the experience with lost and found items. After misplacing a personal item, I discovered that staff members store found belongings in hidden closets throughout the hotel, rather than reporting them properly to the front desk. This disorganized and unprofessional system made it nearly impossible to retrieve my lost item and raised serious concerns about guest security and transparency. Noise was another significant issue. The rooms are not well insulated, and I was constantly disturbed by loud noises from both the nearby elevator and the busy streets surrounding the hotel. Restful sleep was almost impossible. Lastly, the beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable—old, sagging, and in desperate need of replacement. After a long day of sightseeing, I expected at least a decent night’s sleep, but that never happened. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. The combination of cleanliness issues, poor staff communication, excessive noise, and uncomfortable accommodations made for a very disappointing stay.

Yelp
Get what you pay for. Nice view from my room out from balcony. Have coffee machine down stair in lobby area and few tea options. Have popcorn machine with salt and bottle of what could be better. Has 2 laundry machines and dryers. 2.5 per load and 1 $ for detergent. I did accidentally break the luggage stand. I assume it would hold my weight but didn't. Didn't have to pay just notify front desk and told them what happened. Was replaced later that morning. Those were the good. Now the not so great, can hear people in hall way from inside room and doors are kind of odd in closing. Literally woke up from a door closing from another room. My personal preference bed is too soft. As a room to rest in, it is sufficient, but could be improved.

Yelp
I love the staff everyone was friendly. How ever i rate this establishment a 5 but my 600 came up missing. I reported it and they did nothing about it. Not sure if its is because im a tourist and it might had to them i lost it on my own. Which was not the case. Hopefully the person whom took it does some good with it.

Yelp
First time staying at this hotel, I want to give a big shout out to Linda. She made our stay way better with her kindness, we really appreciate her for letting us check in a little early. The hotel itself is nice , not a bad location. I would recommend, will for sure be staying here again. Just keep in mind you're not staying at the four season , for the price you genuinely cannot beat this deal.

Yelp
I stayed here as a kid a long time ago when my friends mom worked here and liked it then , and last night we needed a room last minute, and booked it through hotels.com. Because it was almost 1am I called the front desk before booking to make sure we were good to check in on arrival . They were super accommodating and very nice on arrival. Our room was spacious and clean , and we had a view of the mountains and the Ala Wai which was nice to wake up too. Would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
The outside of this hotel will deceive you. It looks pretty well-maintained. The lobby looks just as nice. Once you check in and go to your room, you will see the truth. Our bad, we left a ring (on accident) on the dresser in our room and left out for the day. We returned in the evening and it was gone, but the room was cleaned. That only leaves one a pretty strong assumption that someone came in and took the ring. We decided to take all our belongings with us while exploring for the day. The water in the bathtub wouldn't drain, despite telling the front desk and them telling us it was checked twice. As far as the room is concerned, let me post pictures and let the reader decide what to think.

Yelp
Hotel was great. My booking consisted of a free wine bottle but since I didn't get it I got a room upgrade with a view and I will take that . The room was clean and view was nice. Hotel is on the older side yet again very clean and would stay here again. 10min walk from strip and beach does not beat that then on the other side the river. Very nice hotel.

Yelp
Amazing stay!!! The front desk kept referring to me by name! I received a welcome card & bottle of wine. The rooms are clean. There's a water station & plenty of coffee- the staff go above & beyond! The have beach towels, umbrellas, chairs all for check out & beautiful view of the water

Yelp
We had a good four night stay at the Coconut Waikiki Hotel. Located a few blocks from Waikiki beach, shops and restaurants. The rooms were clean. Friendly and efficient staff. We made good use of the fridge and microwave. There's a bit of road noise from the busy street so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. As part of my Orbitz VIP perk, I received free valet parking, normally $40/day, and they also upgraded me to a king versus a queen bed. Score! Included in the $25/night resort fee: - coffee and tea in the lobby - grab n' go continental breakfast - pool/beach towels - gym - pool (very small) A good value for Waikiki, especially with the VIP perks!

Yelp
Cute hotel! Would stay there again! When we got there the popcorn bar was open and it even had furikake and butter! Make your own kine. Good prices for Kama'aina. Microwave, bigger fridge (not those tiny square ones), mini kitchen.

Yelp
If it's not because of my free valet (expedia VIP perk) I wouldn't stay here. First thing i thought of when i got in the room was *f*ck i wanna go home*!!! Bathroom was so tiny, only 1 chair near the table, electrical outlets only 2-3 are working, toilet paper handle was broken, and the worst part was the people who work there aren't friendly at all. Valet attendant had the nerve to effin wave at me instead of coming to me and retrieve the keys. NO! No assistance even if they see a lady pulling a luggage and carrying a lot of sh*t, at least be a gentleman and open the door. UGH! 3rd day i asked for our room to be clean, FD young male cut me off and told me "oh they'll service it" i'm like okay fine i'll ignore that he just did that! Coming from a tiring trip we were so excited to come back to a fresh looking room! NOPE, bed wasn't made, all of our towels still on the floor! Since there's no HSK past certain time yup we only got fresh towels fine! We placed our trash outside that night we just got our towels, and next thing u know it was still there the next day haha what a joke' As a hotel operations manager on a 5,000+ rooms in vegas i deal with nasty people everyday, and i told myself i would never be like them. Still provided tip, acted friendly, but overall i was very unsatisfied with the experience. Not expecting for anything, since per all the reviews i read NOTHING IS BEING DONE OR COMPENSATED anyways.

Yelp
I honestly don't understand or believe more then one star rating for the Coconut Hotel. You get what you pay for so spend the extra money for at least a 4 star hotel! Lines for decent places to eat at least 45min wait call order your food to go! The Pro's: Mountain view is beautiful Coffee is delicious Staff nice enough Air conditioning works great The Con's Room is falling apart literally to much to list Cleanliness of room & bed-questionable I found a bug in sheets but we do not see any others Traffic noise is unbelievable little sleep Bed/mattress a step above concrete We cut our trip 2 days short, hotel booked could not move us to another room No more continental breakfast just water, tea & coffee

Manny C.

Yelp
Horrible experience , The general manager Dante luana is extremely rude and ignorant and does not believe in customer satisfaction at all . After complaining to him asking if we could get a discounted rate for leaving at 1:00 am in the morning because the settings of the room were uncomfortable and not worth the money . Not only did he refuse to discuss the situation but refrained to saying ( no I'm charging you for everything ) our staff did it's best to help us . They did nothing at all to make our experience pleasant let alone help us at all . #1 Soon as we got there . The host says They overbooked the hotel , and that they have to relocate all of a sudden. Finally the host FAKES a call to a room and asked someone to be relocated and if we can have a seat , (no one comes to the lobby by the way) she finally tells us there's a room now all of a sudden . #2 So we get to the room and turn on the ac on its coolest setting s. Got ready and went out to event for about5-6 hours and come back to the room still being warm like how we basically checked in at temperature. #3 Coconut Waikiki charges you for amenity's that you don't even use like valet . We never filled out any valet papers and got charged for it while my truck sat outside in the driveway till we left a 1:00 a.m and keep my deposit for no reason at all (140$) totals with the 40$ valet charge #4 the hotel does not have insulation or sound proof barrier so you can hear your neighbors and the road outside of the building crystal clear all night . Nobody wants to hear their neighbors partying at midnight #5 The resort has a small water heater not being able to hold a full capacity resort . The water was freezing cold . That was the final straw . So we go down to lobby and the host says after we tell him we are not happy with the outcome of our room, the host say" can I send a maintenance guy to our room " ? ( it's like 1:00 am ) how unconventional is that . We were tired and just wanted to rest .We ended up sleeping in our car for the night . If you read this message then save yourself the burden and please do not waste your time and find a place worth paying because the coconut Waikiki is NOT the place to enjoy . I hope it to their Human Resources team and they message and reach out to me about this horrible experience. Won't be going here ever again!! Sent from my iPhone

Yelp
Honestly I made the right decision choosing this place the place is very clean and we have the best view on the 10th floor I love the staff esp Troy very nice staff who loves yo help they have good spirit and energy all are very smiley and I love the free coffee

Yelp
A lot of people here commenting are obviously not local to the islands. You obviously don't realize that the infrastructure / buildings are extremely old and are expensive to remodel, etc. That being said... This hotel is extremely nice for what it is, you get the bang for your buck. Right in the heart of Waikiki. Rooms are nice and clean. Small but cozy. Only think I don't like is the rate for the overnight parking, but it is what it is. For the price this hotel is nice, for what it is and compared to others.
google avatar

Larry L.

Yelp
The cheapest hotel I can find in the Waikiki area. The receptionist is very friendly. The room is clean. Many bus around. My biggest problem with this hotel is that it has ZERO NOISE ISOLATION. You can people talking outside of the room load and clear! You can hear motorcycles rushing through streets midnight. It is very bad when you want to have a quite holiday break.

Yelp
Stayed here over Christmas and New Year, the staff were lovely, especially the young lady on reception and the young man handling valet service. The rooms are a little dated and bathroom was small however, for the price and location I think this is a great find. Complementary coffee is available 24x7 and the refillable water dispenser in the hotel lobby is a real bonus. Perfect spot and within walking distance of anything in Waikiki. Definitely recommend.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
I will start off with the positives. The location was great. Close to shops, restaurants and beach. Valet attendants were always ready to get your car but at $40 a day plus tip, it got extremely pricey. They also have decent complimentary coffee and popcorn in lobby with two outside areas to meet up and one inside. Pool seemed to be clean but super small. Lastly, the front desk were all very nice. Now for the bad. If you are booking a suite, you need to request for floors 6 and above. Anything lower you will be up all night listening to the street traffic and the bars until 3 AM which neighbors the hotel. Also the slat windows don't have a tight seal so you can hear everything. The first two floors 2 and 3 don't have any bathtubs and just walk in nasty dirty moldy showers with absolutely no counter space. I actually moved to floor 5 so I could sleep on my vacation and it helped but one more floor up would have been perfect. The carpet smelled and looked like it had never been cleaned. It had a slight slime feel to it and if you dare walk on it with bare feet, be prepared to wash your feet moments afterward. The bed on 3rd floor was horrible and had stained sheets and bed comforter. The pullout sofa was miserable for my son so he choose just to sleep on the couch itself. On the 5th floor the bed was slightly better but I still woke up with hip pain. The tvs were so outdated along with almost everything in the room. They don't change your sheets even though you are in a beach city. They say every 3rd day but that never happened and after their piss poor job of cleaning our room daily they still managed not to replace our towels even though we placed dirty ones in the tub that they said to do if you wanted clean ones. I had to call every day I was there for towels which was annoying. Bathroom floors were dirty as well but I will say the shampoo and body wash was decent. Also the room service wasn't so bad. We ordered round table pizza and it was good. Coffee in your room...big NO. You get a water kettle and instant crap coffee. No thank you. Use the lobby coffee. You do get a small refrigerator and microwave and a few dishes. Speaking of towels. They also sucked. Smelled and thin. Pillows were just OK. The views all sucked. I gave two stars for the staff because they all were nice. I won't stay there ever again. Pay the extra 50 to 70 a night somewhere else.

Yelp
Found this hotel on Expedia. Looked young and trendy. Girl at from door was super nice and very accommodating. I was checking in pretty late and she was super sweet and upgraded me at no cost to a nicer room on a high floor so I could have a view. Hotel in general was super cute. My room was awesome and very clean sheets and bed. I'm knocking a star off because the bathroom was not as clean as the rest of the room. All in all I was totally stay here again! Definitely a great deal.

Yelp
Great location close to walk downtown. The room was spacious and we had. A great view from our balcony. Staff was very nice for check in and out as well as valet was quick and easy.

Yelp
The place is in the middle of residential area which means i had to listen to a single person across the way working with his construction tools on his PORCH all day and night. Saws, hammers, nailing, etc. the walls are paper thin and had to move rooms twice because of bed bugs. Do not stay here!
google avatar

Yelp
One big scam. Reviews written by employees. breakfast is pastry, coffee and tea. There are no eggs, there is no juice. It's a Motel 6. Very disappointed. Small old rooms and no plates, one sink. Toilet was made for small people or Children. Air-conditions hangs on window wall for outside venting. A two star at best. I don't recommend for anyone to stay here.

Yelp
This hotel has the best staff, they are all so welcoming and treat you like family! Small clean hotel that is a short walk to the strip of Waikiki. Two convenience stores on the same street if you need drinks or snacks. Want to send a big shout out to Laurie Ihara who made this weekend so special!! Thank you! thank you! My family enjoyed our stay!

Manny C.

Yelp
Complete shit show from the start... #1 They coconut Waikiki hotel overbooked the hotel , so we paid for a room and they never had a room to begin with but still accepted my money . then made up some bullshit about they gonna relocate us and they sent an e-mail days earlier , was was a LIE !!! #2 Then they put us in a room with no a/c and #3 no warm/ hot water ... #4 . theirs is no insulation or soundproofing at all in this hotel . U can hear all the neighbors rooms and the street level volume clearly from the room . The operation manager was not help . In fact tried to blame me for declining room maintenance service at 1 o clock on the morning . Don't Waste your money here!!

Yelp
Not everything in Honolulu has to be expensive and the Coconut Waikiki Hotel is evidence of that. After many stays in the city, this has become a reliable sleeping destination and I enjoy staying here. While parking can be a challenge, the beds are comfy, the staff is nice, it's close to the beach, and the location is extremely ideal. The hotel is a mix of tropical retro and boutique. I enjoyed the standard rooms that I've stayed in, mainly because of the bed but also for some minor amenities like the coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, and decent sized bathroom. WiFi is solid and room service is on point. Everything was clean for the most part and while the rooms aren't super spacious, they do come with a good view. Good stuff aside, it's far from perfect. The ACs are somewhat weaksauce, the TVs could use some updating, the pool is quite small (it's okay, the beaches are near), and the daily breakfast while complimentary, is very limited. Not very crazy about the plumbing; shower pressure and toilet flush is subpar at best. Another issue is the valet parking, which is close to $30 when street parking can be free. Prices were somewhere between $120-180 per night, which is okay for what they offer. I know they're in midst of a renovation (which might be finished as of this review), so I'm looking forward to checking it out when I'm back in Honolulu again.

Yelp
I'll peg this at a 2.5 for now since we just checked in today...I wish I had done deeper research but when one is traveling to such a popular destination during one of the busiest weeks ever one cannot be picky. We booked rooms here through VRBO based on location, availability to accommodate 8 and price...and upon arrival this little cozy hotel "looked" cozy and clean with friendly desk staff and bellhop. Once we got to the rooms the views (of an apartment complex reminds me of Hong Kong) were disappointing especially coming in from a huge oceanfront home rental on the Big Island last week. The bathroom is the biggest disappointment, extremely tight, low water pressure and slow draining shower...ugh. After reading the other reviews I am kicking myself for not doing better research like I usually do. The marketing of this place is NOT as advertised. Now I am worried about the service fees at checkout (read other reviews about it). Will have to checkout w a fine tooth comb.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay here. We arrived before check-in time and to our surprise our room was ready, they won me with thay one. The hospitality was welcoming, staff was kind and helpful. They suggested places to go around the island, away from Waikiki. Gave us maps, etc. Lots of amenities offered here, great air conditioning, beach towels, beach chairs, breakfast in the lobby daily. They offer classes like Lei making and zumba. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the bay, nice patio with sliding glass door, making way for a true "Hawaiian Breeze". This hotel is centrally located in Waikiki. I give it a high walk score as its close to everything in Waikiki, the Honolulu Zoo, transportation, all the great eateries, entertainment, high-end shops, spa services, amazing coffee shops with macarons :)... Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE. Their website is COMPLETELY misleading. This is a mediocre hotel that is mostly filthy and outdated. Our room was underwhelming and dirty. I found termite wings all over one of the beds and later noticed 2 termites on the lamp and MORE wings on the night stand. We called the front desk who sent maintenance to our room to look at the termites. After maintenance left, we called the front desk and they let us know that we were going to be switched rooms. They seemed unsurprised by this issue. There is no way this termite problem was isolated to the first room we were in (on the 10th floor). We were moved to the 6th floor. They did not offer any type of discount until we asked for the valet fee to be waived ($40 per day). We stayed in this hotel for 7 days. This hotel compares to a cheap motel. A day before check out, my friend noticed more termites near the elevator and notified the front desk, the manager said "Oh don't worry they will be gone in 45 minutes." They showed little to no concern. The balcony is completely rusted and the furniture is outdated and cheap. On the last day, I used the lobby restroom and saw a water bug behind the toilet. Save your money or invest in another hotel. Coconut Waikiki Hotel is cheap looking and dirty. Not worth the nightly rate they're charging. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Kai C.

Yelp
one word: TERMITES. I prepaid for three nights. I checked out after one night. The woman at the front desk assured me my night would be comped. They refunded me the two nights that I didn't even stay there but the manager refused to refund the first night (WHEN THE BUGS WERE THERE). Never again. There was a pile of what appeared to be eggs on the counter when I woke up.

Yelp
We were going to stay at Hilton Gardens but budgeting called for a less expensive spot. It's an adorable boutique hotel with free coffee, fruit and pastries in the morning. However, housekeeping is by request only and even if you request it, it's not for sure if you'll get it. Also, the first night a fire alarm went off!! My daughter and I stayed in bed, and sure enough an hour later another alarm went off! The attendant announced it was a false alarm! We laughed about it but yeah kind of annoying. Also the water pressure was low and with Hawaiian humidity... well, a girl needs her water pressure. The employees are all friendly and helpful. But 3 stars for the above that can use improving.

Yelp
We debated on a few different hotels in the area but were so happy we chose this one! The room was clean and comfortable with everything you need, including a fridge and microwave! Super convenient location within walking distance of tons of restaurants and shops. Everyone on the staff was also really nice and helpful! It's a great budget-friendly option. Would definitely stay here again.

Tracey P.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here a total of 5 nights in February of this year. Overall, our experience here was great. It is, of course, true that "you get what you pay for," so, when choosing this (comparatively) inexpensive hotel, we kept our expectations in check. Yes, it is older and some of the maintenance has not been done to the highest standard, but it is a wonderful place to choose when you are looking for a more budget-friendly option in Waikiki. Your walk to the beach will be longer than from the more expensive hotels but, at 12 minutes, it's very doable. There are many yummy restaurants much closer than that! In our experience, the staff at the Coconut Waikiki was excellent. They were extremely hospitable and helpful. The amenities that the hotel offered (such as free coffee and water stations, as well as beach chairs and umbrellas) were very generous considering the price-point.

Stayed here with a family of 4 for 5 days. I have to say the primary reason we chose this hotel was for the free continental breakfast that was still advertised at time of booking. At time of arrival we were advised by staff that owners/management decided they will no longer offer food. We were really disappointed as I mentioned this is the primary reason we booked the room and now we're stuck with no other option and no breakfast/food. At first lying and sitting on the beds felt cushiony but after waking up every morning out backs hurt so bad like we slept on a rock. I would so if you have a small budget, and don't care about complimentary food, and back isn't sensitive to sleeping on a not good bed, then this would be the place for you. Wish we were offered a discount or some type of reimbursement for the amenities promised at booking no longer being available.

Yelp
This was the perfect hotel for if you're a local staying for a night or for those not really high maintenance. The lobby is super cute and welcoming, and I think we got upgraded from a king size to the executive king so thank you! I wasn't expecting much from this hotel at all due to the bad reviews but it was perfect for our needs! We will be staying here again.

Yelp
Spent three days and two nights at this quaint boutique hotel. It was easy to get in and out of town. Close to shops and restaurants. The Executive Suite - we loved it! The staff was friendly and greeted us in a timely manner. We will be back! Mahalo Mr. N and team!

Yelp
The hotel itself it's not that bad. It's cute, staff is friendly, kitchenette is decently equipped, it has valet parking, sanitizer everywhere, masks required inside. Now the bad: breakfast is a joke (muffin, fruit and coffee), bathroom wasn't clean (kept finding random hairs and there were some splatters of something brown, ew and the metal towel racks were rusted), carpet has stains everywhere. But the worst part is that they flat out stole our deposit. When we checked out we were told the parking fee was waived (yay!) and when I asked about deposit they told us it was gonna be refunded in the next 5 days. 2 weeks later, no refund. We called the hotel and they said they used it to cover the parking! They didn't even tell us they used it beforehand. Luckily, my bank recovered the money through a dispute. Beware of this scammy charges.

Yelp
I am honestly/seriously in awe at even driving into this hotel... Doesn't really even look like a hotel on the outside. First off you could not tell how to get into the hotel from the street. This hotel reminds me of a party hotel and coming here with my family was a big no no. I had to drive around twice to find how to even get to "valet" and because I looked like a local, it looked like I was at the wrong hotel. I seen a guy helping out a couple and I yelled out for help. He said that they didn't have parking and I told him "okay, but I'm a guest here..." Then that's when he said "we only have valet and its $30". Like it was too expensive for me? Idk... That was already a bad experience... Then he wanted me to sign a paper without seeing my car to say that I am okay with the sings and dents... Like really? My cars new, are you not going to go look at it first? I get into the hotel room, they gave me the second floor and mind you I booked this on Hotwire.com and it says that it's 3 1/2 stars... Please tell me where? The rooms are super small, they charge $20 amenities fees that I wasn't aware about for the water and I guess breakfast that we probably won't even eat or drink... But on their website it says never a resort fee?? It's really not worth $180+ for a room... I could definitely get a nicer/bigger/better hotel room that fits my family at Pacific Beach... Too bad I was excited to try another hotel... Expectations we literally thrown out the door and I am super disappointed. I feel like I just wasted my money and service is NOT up to par... You can get this service at any other hotel that's cheaper! P.s. The pictures on their website or on display are soooo deceiving... Nothing looks like that here! Smh...

Yelp
Horrible hotel!!! Please DO NOT stay here. I got duped by the good reviews on Yelp! I wish I hadn't gone by them. The hotel was so bad first off our AC was non functional in the middle of June!! My 1 year old suffered from a heat stroke and dehydration because of it! Then we told the front desk to change our sheets at noon since our son threw up on the bed they never bothered sending anyone and when we complained they handed us the sheets! I didn't come on vacation to make my own bed! They didn't have a crib for a baby so we had to put our kid on a blanket on the floor so he didn't pilfer roll off the bed! Please if you value your money dont stay here. It is for people who don't give a damn about how they live next time never booking a non chain hotel ever again! Just checked out of the horrid hotel someone in the hotel stole all our electronics from our room! And the hotel did absolutely nothing about it no compensation nothing! It is literally the shadiest hotel. In fact they claimed to take no responsibility! Our stuff disappeared from our hotel room unbelievable

Yelp
If you want somewhere to get away from reality! This is a good hideaway! Awesome price for a hideaway on top of that. The bathroom and AC is outdated but manageable! No hassle at the valet or front desk very bing bang sleep!

Yelp
The Bellhop doesn't like money obviously because he failed to help an injured woman with her bags or push the cart. The Front Desk Employees were awesome though. Toilet was leaking huge puddles, to which they just provided towels for cleanup...I literally had a staff member knock 2 times and proceed to just open the door before I could get up and walk to the door, he simply said "I thought you checked out" ...why not just call? Then I had a group of workers walk in to "test the alarm" this time they also walked in before I could get up and open the door. They pushed the smoke detector and it LOUDLY went off in my ear disturbing my peace 2 hours before checking out of this dump of a hostel . Everything "looks clean" until you pull out a black light. You wouldn't want to touch anything. The carpet has never been shampooed/cleaned ever in history. Location is Okish, but I found better prices in better areas of town.

Yelp
Do not book this hotel. This property is not what is advertised. It's dirty and run down. The pool is nice, except tiles are missing and it's small. The beds are old and worn out, and the sheets don't fit the bed. They advertise a kitchen, there is a small microwave, a water boiler and a small refrigerator, that's not a kitchen. There was no coffee maker, I had to go to the lobby every morning to get the coffee. The room has two beds, but only two old chairs, there were two worn out patio chairs on the lani that we had to bring in for all to sit somewhere. The AC condensation drips on the balcony below which causes the rail to be rusted out. The carpet was stained by a previous guest who spilled coffee, the upholstered chair was old and ripped. This is a budget hotel asking 4star pricing. Finally, the management is not truthful. I booked via Airbnb, I contacted the host regarding the poor condition and sent pictures. I was there for 10 days, I was told that management would fix the problems, no one ever spoke to me, I asked every day to speak to management or if there was any messages for me, no one from the property spoke to me. The location is ok, not great. It's on a busy corner with a traffic light so the traffic noise is really loud... all the time.

Yelp
I rate hotels on 5 factors. Each gets a star. Breakfast - They have a free breakfast which is extremely rare in Waikiki. Only down side is it didn't have any meat... there was scrambled eggs and waffles as the only "hot" food. Some cereals, yogurt, and breads/pastries are the other options. I'll give it a star since it's free. Would not hold up to other hotel's free breakfast. Does stuff work? - Didn't have any issues in the room. The Air Conditioner worked, the iron and iron board worked, and the shower had hot water. 1-star Service - Probably the best thing here. Service was always fantastic and they were very nice. 1-star Parking - Thy do have parking here although it is valet only and $30 a night. I guess it's similar across other hotels, just tough to shell out that much on top of everything else. No star Free stuff - They have Hurricane Popcorn from 2-6 I think. It's popcorn you can put butter, furikake, and arare on. Nice touch for free. What really hurts here is the Amenity fee. I think it was an extra $25 a night. So on top of the parking, that's an extra $55 added to you bill a night. No star

Yelp
My friends and I stayed at The Coconut Waikiki Hotel for our 5 day vacation/ wedding trip to Hawaii. Initially we drove around the hotel twice trying to find the entrance to the valet as we missed the small entrance the first time. The entrance is immediately around the corner once you make the left turn on Ala Wai Blvd while driving on Lewers St. The daily valet cost is $30 which is comparable to many hotels in the area. We were greeted by the friendly staff upon arrival and check in early for our room. We booked the Penthouse Suite. They informed us that there is daily breakfast in the dining/ lobby from 6:30-8:30am. Breakfast consisted of waffles, eggs, fresh fruit, pastries, and cereal which is pretty typical for places I've stayed at. When we got to our room we exited the elevator and went up one set of stairs to get to the Penthouse Suite which has a floor to itself. The Penthouse Suite included two bedroom (one queen, one king bed), a queen sized pullout couch, two bathrooms, and balcony which had a nice view of our surrounding area as noted on its website description. The living room and dining room is very spacious and was set up very nicely. Both bathrooms were spacious and was ideal for getting ready for the wedding or even to just get ready for the day. One of my favorite characteristics of the Penthouse Suite was the air conditioning. Each part of the suite had its own unit. I turned down the thermostat in my room to a somewhat chilling temperature while my friends in their own room or the living could use the heater or leave it at a moderate temperature. The hotel itself is a nice walking distance from the Waikiki Strip, the International Marketplace, and various food places which is nice because there isn't much street parking from what I have noticed. I'd like to thank Isaac and the rest of the staff at the hotel. Our time in Hawaii was about 70% planned, 30% spontaneous. Isaac down at the front desk was very helpful and offered suggestions and tips about where to go, what to do, and what to see in Hawaii. The valet staff especially as we were consistently coming and going to the hotel multiple times a day. Hope to be back sometime soon!

Yelp
This place needs to seriously be upgraded.... the room had a smell and so did the mini frig. The cabinets were peeling and very creaky and I mean VERY CREEKY. That little sink is terrible you will get splashed if you try to wash anything. I also don't like how the "lanai" isn't really safe for kids at all. Usually it's glass and solid but this place just has bars so I didn't let my child go out there which was a bummer cause she wanted to see the view but I just didn't want to risk anything because kids can be adventurous so I kept the door to the lanai locked. Sheets had little dried blood spots so I first checked for bed bugs and thank goodness there were none but that's disgusting that means that at one point this place may of had them or might even still do. There's no DVD player in the room or even free dvd rental service. The popcorn in the lobby was stale as hell and doesn't get changed cause I would come down periodically and notice the same damn pile. I get maybe not many people eat it but my daughter and me love popcorn and it was upsetting to keep checking to see if it's fresh but to no avail. So with all that being said that 100$ security deposit for the room you have to pay on arrival is BS. The room isn't worth it and I've stayed at nicer places with only having to pay 50$. Finally the "free breakfast" .... no meats, old pastries, powdered eggs I guess ? Cause I don't know what kind of eggs those were... not real eggs. Also when I asked earlier what they had I was told they had pancakes and waffles too.... but wait YOU HAVE TO MAKE THEM YOURSELF. There's a lot of people down there at once crammed in this area so if you really want those waffles you have to wait in a long line and honestly I had a small child with me and everyone's just brushing pass us and bumping into each other. It's uncomfortable and not even worth it. I didn't see any pancakes either by the way... the pool was disgusting too. Also at one point the front desk screwed up a bit. When checking in she almost charged me the amenity fee(I'm local) so the fee is waved for me but I had to correct her and double check my card to make sure she didn't charge it. Than while I had to wait for my friend to drop off my other card a new worker started their shift and told me to refill out the consent form and I said why and she explained the First Lady gave me the wrong paper but I'm still bothered that I signed something else and didn't see the other paper get ripped up or anything so I've been keeping an eye on my account to make sure nothing stupid happens. I see why a lot of tourist come here cause they don't know how terrible it is here. High rating or not on here I would say go somewhere else NOT WORTH IT

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for six days in May. It is conveniently located ten-minutes walk from Waikiki Beach. The biggest disappointment with the hotel is that I saw that it advertised free daily breakfast when I booked, but when I arrived all they were offering was daily coffee, tea, and water. Eating out every morning or finding food to take out added expense and inconvenience to our trip. The room itself was very clean and had a beautiful view of the canal. However, a number of the drawers in the dresser wouldn't close and I found the air conditioner noisy. The pool was nice, but not particularly warm, so a hot tub would have been good, especially as the rooms only have showers and not baths. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is an affordable option for Waikiki. So, if the items I've noted don't bother you too much and you like a less busy hotel, you could do worse than book at the Coconut Waikiki.

Yelp
For the price, it was the best in the area. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I like that they provide towels for you and you can take them to the beach to use. I was here for a friend's wedding and decided to stay here along with other friends who booked their rooms here. The room was a decent size for double beds with a AC window unit. The only major complaint I would make is the mold in the bathroom ceiling and the ceiling was peeling. Not only ours, but our friend's room also had mold in their bathroom. The restroom itself was just not too clean. My friends mentioned they provided complimentary breakfast which was nice, but don't expect it to be a great breakfast. If you are looking for a budget friendly stay and good location, this place is it. It is not too far from many restaurants, shopping centers and the beach.

Yelp
We used the Coconut as our wedding hotel and it was absolutely fantastic. The Coconut offered our guests rooms in our room block, provided us space for a post-wedding brunch, allowed us to park easily in their driveway and parking lot, and helped us distribute welcome gifts to our guests. The rooms were super comfortable, everyone loved the pool and coffee/food available in the lobby, the staff was fantastic, and it was such a convenient location. They treated us like royalty and made us feel extremely welcome and at home. I highly recommend the Coconut for your wedding hotel!!

Yelp
For the price, this is a fantastic hotel. I don't think anything else really comes close. Location-wise, it's only a short walk to the beach and all that Waikiki has to offer. The staff is incredibly friendly and I love that the hotel has beach towels and sand toys to borrow, for the day. They serve breakfast, which is great, and I didn't see that offered anywhere else in Waikiki. But it's not a great breakfast. But having something to shove into the kid's mouths before we headed out was a fantastic plus. The rooms are very standard but old. There is AC, which is vital. The beds were clean. But the rooms were also where this hotel lost a bunch of stars for me. So I have a dust mite allergy. And wow! This hotel was horrible for that. I was on my allergy medicine and had dust mite pillow protectors, which usually means that I don't feel much, but I still woke up at night because I couldn't breath through my nose. The mites have basically taken over the bed, carpet and curtains. All in all, this was a very good stay for us as we were only there for one night. Had we stayed longer, I would have had big problems.

Yelp
Would like to rate 5 stars. + Friendly staff + Got a free upgrade from room to suite (nice!) + Street noise OK. I was on 2nd floor facing Lewers. A/C units running will drown most noises (sirens will not be completely drowned). Monday morning you can hear trash trucks (seems like all of Waikiki has trash taken on Mondays). + Free breakfast: 2 waffle makers (makes four individual waffles each pour); white/wheat bread and choice of jam packets; mini croissants; yogurt with granola, fruit, and mini chocolate chips; cereal with milk (no soy or almond options); water, orange juice, and coffee. It worked for me, although I would have had cereal with non-milk options. + Other free things: water in fridge (small bottles), a few Keurig cups (didn't use), cold water in gym, tea and coffee in breakfast area, popcorn (didn't use). +/- Room pretty clean (overall dated look but upgrading pieces to look modern). I did notice a flattened bag of M&Ms between the bed and nightstand on the carpet. That had to have been from the guest before. +/- Trash bin wasn't in the open and I didn't notice there was one under the sink of the room (not bathroom). That means my food trash didn't get picked up, but could be good depending on your viewpoint (they won't touch your food if it's in the open). +/- Shower could be cleaner (small tiles). This is the only reason for knocking off a star. Other: ~ Did not rent a car so did not use valet parking. ~ I walked to the Ala Moana Center (1.5 miles each way), to the beach, etc. It's Waikiki, you can walk anywhere if you're able and willing. ~ Booked 60 days in advance through their website and waived resort fee. Would stay again.

Yelp
For the price, it's alright. Before we traveled we did extensive comparison with other hotels and resorts around the Waikiki area. This place had the best price, and we booked. It became immediately apparent why they had the best price. The hotel is in the middle of a renovation. There is scaffolding covering the front facade. No hotel amenities were impacted, but it wasn't exactly aesthetically appealing. Be aware, they only offer valet parking, and street parking is extremely limited. Be prepared for that. Driveway space is also limited, so there were times we had to wait to either A- Pull up to the hotel or B- Exit the hotel due to congestion. On the bright side, when we arrived we were offered a complimentary upgrade to a suite. That was a pleasant surprise. The lobby has been modernized and was very pleasing. The staff were all very warm and friendly. The rooms were dated, but you could tell they've refreshed the furniture to try and achieve a more modern feel. It worked, for the most part. Some renovations were only half-done. For example, our walk-in shower had a tub spout in it in addition to the shower head. Overall, though the room was comfortable. Our suite was on the second floor, and our balcony was dead-level with the aforementioned scaffolding. As a result, the view from our room was less than ideal. We were also concerned about access to our room from the balcony and kept the doors closed/locked for our entire stay. The ice machine was no where to be found on our floor. I had to contact the front desk, and I was told it was several floors above me, and not located in a very clean area. It felt like a janitorial closet. It's good to see they're continuing to modernize and update the hotel. And honestly, I felt we got good value for the money we paid. We enjoyed our stay, the room was comfortable, the staff was very friendly. I'd give this hotel a second chance once the updates are complete.

Yelp
4 stars for value! We stayed at this hotel for a Honolulu vacation. I chose this hotel based on the value, promitiy to everything, and did I mention value? This hotel was a Best Western in it's prior life, but it has been renovated and reinvented. Everything was clean and nice. The staff could not have been any friendlier or more helpful. If you are trying to decide if you should book your stay here, check out these tidbits: Pros * Walking distance to Waikiki Beach and Waikiki attractions (dining and shopping), yet off of the beaten track of tourist overload. *Good price! (Hint: book through Travelocity or Priceline) *Cute decor in rooms! Also included small fridge, coffee maker, silverware & dishes, wi-fi, and patio. Things to Consider: *Parking! Valet is the only option for on-sight parking and it comes at $26/day. Ouch. *If you're lucky enough, you could find metered parking outside or free, all-day parking next to the canal. (We lucked up on finding it). *No continental breakfast offered :-( *Rooms are small Tips *Beach towels are available for use at the front desk. However, be sure to return them! If you don't, you will be charged $20 per towel. *Aim for a Mountain-View room! City View is of neighboring apartment patios...not so great...
