COCOS Hotel (Antigua)

Advantages: The food was the highlight of our stay. Food offerings are impressive and varied, the presentation is excellent, and the quality of the ingredients is very high. They offer a very good balance of western (English, American) food and Caribbean food, which is refreshing. The resort has a great team of chefs, including a pastry chef, which is, again, pretty impressive for a small resort on a small island. Maria, George, and Kris are huge assets to the team, and quickly became welcoming faces around the resort. Most of the waiting staff go above and beyond to help guests feel welcome and special. The location is great. It’s located at one end of Jolly Beach which, in my opinion, is one of the nicest beaches in Antigua. The views are incredible from the resort. You’ll want to pack a lot of bug spray though! Disadvantages (not many, but worth mentioning): Other members of waiting staff can be at best disinterested and at worst downright rude. Arrivals at dinner can expect to wait 5 minutes or longer to be seated, whilst several members of staff walk past (it seems only one member of staff will seat individuals, and they seem to have other tasks too - it doesn’t seem very efficient). Whilst our room was nice and mostly very clean, the walls did feature many previously squashed mosquitoes, which I wouldn’t expect from a resort charging the prices it does. Overall, I’d say our stay was very close to being worth the price. We would return.

My husband and I spent 5 days here celebrating our 20 year anniversary. It was perfect. From the private transfer to the hotel until the last rum punch before we left. IT WAS AMAZING. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Every meal was delicious, every drink was superb, both beaches were beautiful. We both had massages at the spa and they were heavenly We stayed in the sunset pool cootage and the views are breathtaking. I will dream of COCOS until I can return.

A Hidden Gem — More Than a Hotel, a True Island Escape! Cocos is not your typical hotel — it’s a breathtaking boutique resort nestled on a lush mountainside overlooking the Caribbean Sea. We absolutely loved its intimate, tucked-away feel and the stunning ocean views from every corner. The food was outstanding — every meal was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Our cottage was spacious, spotless, and perfectly cool thanks to great air conditioning. The bed and linens were incredibly comfortable, but the real showstopper was the outdoor shower. Rinsing off while gazing out at the ocean or under the stars was pure magic — I don’t know how we’ll ever stay somewhere tropical without one again! The beaches were immaculate — no seaweed, soft sand, and plenty of sturdy loungers and umbrellas. We enjoyed the beach so much that we skipped excursions altogether and didn’t even mind the pool being under maintenance (you can find a pool anywhere, but the 2 beaches on the property are one of a kind). Each guest stays in a private cottage with no shared walls, creating a wonderfully peaceful and romantic atmosphere. The staff were genuinely warm, attentive, and happy — it’s clear they love what they do, and it makes all the difference. There’s truly something special about Cocos — words don’t quite do it justice. You just have to experience it yourself. We can’t wait to come back for an anniversary in the future!

As we were checking out, Kris asked us if there was anything COCOS could improve on. Immediately we both said no. From the moment we arrived to when we departed we felt very well taken care of by the friendly, accommodating, and kind staff. We enjoyed all of our meals at the restaurant as well as the beachside grill. The unique accomodation is what initially drew us to COCOS. Every set of guests enjoyed their own cottage, and ours had a wonderful view of the sea and its own pool. We felt it allowed for great privacy. The grounds were stunning and meticulously maintained. We rotated our time between the two beaches on either end of the resort, as we couldn't decide which we liked more. The larger, more lively beach offered the beachside grill as well as beautiful sunsets, while the smaller beach was private and perfect to spend our mornings. Both had their own separate beach side bars with strong pours. There is no question about whether we return, and we look forward to coming back soon.

We had a very pleasant stay. The rooms weren’t fancy but seemed clean. The toiletries provided were amazing. The views and tropical atmosphere were great. We loved the open air dining and the beaches and were exactly what we were looking for. The service was good overall, though the staff in the restaurants weren’t as friendly as we're used to back home. Polite but not necessarily warm. A few people really made our stay special though. Nakesha at the Jolly Beach bar was so pleasant and friendly and made great drinks! Loreen at the main bar was such a sweetheart and made me special smoothies without milk each day. Food was good and they took my dietary restrictions seriously and were very accommodating. There were a few days that meals came out undercooked but overall they were great. Desserts were amazing and the selection of fresh fish each day was so nice to experience. We really appreciated the specially decorated table and complementary champagne at dinner for our anniversary. Having a few more beach loungers on the beach under more umbrellas would improve the beach experience. Also, some loungers and umbrellas need to be repaired and they could all use some new paint. The whole resort could use a bit of a refresh, but its rustic feel does have some charm. The mattresses on the beds in the cottages need to be replaced. They are very uncomfortable. The outdoor showers were fun and having a lovely view while having a shower was so cool! You can snorkel around the resort but the water is often murky, so if snorkeling is really your thing you’d probably want a private charter. Money saving tip: If you’re going to spend all day at the beach or out of your room then there really is no need to stay in an expensive cottage. Even the cheaper ones still have a nice view. We had a sunset view cottage (no pool) but our sunset view was blocked by a palm tree. That’s ok though because there were amazing sunset views to be seen from both beaches, and we preferred that anyway. Highly recommend this resort for a relaxing couples getaway.

I visited 1/26. Beautiful and laid back resort on a quiet bay on Antigua. Great if you want to be left alone and pampered. There are a number of negative comments online but all of them have been addressed. Seven wonderful, relaxing days and nights with good food, service, drinks, and entertainment. Menu is diverse, local, and always changing. Tropical as well as traditional mixed drinks always available. In addition to the regular restaurant there is a beach grill and a bar at each beach. Jolly Beach is a beautiful walk, and right there. If you rent a car for a couple of days there are a few sights to see on the island, but you won't want to spend too much time away from Cocos! Be careful about which type of accommodation you choose. Some will require a lot of walking up and down steep paths and stairs, and different views are available.

Just recently back from Coco’s . Amazing location, friendly staff & breathtaking views. The quality & presentation of the food was top class, waiting staff were professional, attentive without being intrusive The cabins are old style, rustic and have lots of character, I really loved the outdoor shower. There was nightly entertainment which started around 8pm which we checked out every night , varied styles of music. In the daytime we made use of the paddle boards and canoes, great to see the coastline from a different perspective. They had daily cocktail specials which weren’t too bad, really depended on which bar you got them from and who was making them. I believe it was Nikisha who had got a good eye for detail on these, she worked the bar on the small beach beside reception. Apologies if I got her name wrong . I fell there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to the beer selection or lack of. The only beer available at this hotel is Corrib lager which isn’t great to say the least, it was on draft in all their bars and cans for the rooms. I did ask in all bars was there anything else, the answer was no. It wouldn’t be that difficult to have a small selection of bottles or cans from international breweries or even support their local craft brewery which was decent enough . Long bay brewery from St. Peter, they have a really nice lager & their stout & IPA wasn’t too bad either . I had spoke to numerous guests during our stay and we all felt the same as there was definitely a void in this area of beer choice The wifi in our room was non existent, we had 3 different mobile phones which non could hold a connection so if you needed to call someone or needed internet access you would have to go to the reception area which worked ok . Some daytime activities to involve guests might also be a good idea I really enjoyed my stay here but feel there is still room for improvement considering the cost of the stay at this hotel .

Celebrated my birthday and New Years at this hotel. The views from the sunset rooms are stunning. Highly recommend the plunge room. Great location, romantic and very private/quiet resort. Only one restaurant with an amazing breeze but the menu changes daily. The only con was the bugs but they do provide bug spray. We will be back!
