Cocotiers Hotel - Rodrigues

The best welcome is a smile.|Upon arrival, I received a warm welcome with a beautiful smile; it was so friendly that I immediately felt at home. I thank the receptionist, Cornellie, for her lovely smile and charming welcome. Claudette, my good friend, thank you for your hospitality during my stay. The reception staff truly raises the bar for the hotel; they really reflect the hotel's image. I rediscovered genuine kindness in their raw hospitality. I'll return just for the reception team. |The food was decent (4/5), but the welcome was nonexistent: neither smiles nor hostility. The room was nicely decorated upon our arrival, but the cleaning the next day left much to be desired, despite the lovely decorations the day before.

Great Location. Average rooms. Lots of 🐈 , even in the dining room.. Friendly staff. Food quality and taste is low to average. Bar service poor. ( if you manage to find the barman) . Well behind Cotton bay and Mourouk hotels in terms of setup, service and customer experience.

Claudette, Cornellie, and Corina, the reception team, thank you sincerely for your warm welcome. Your smiles were truly therapeutic throughout my stay. Cornellie, your energy made my stay perfect and positive. The restaurant and its team provided good service, but the dinner menu could use some variety. The only downside was the food. My dear friend Johnley, the cocktails were top notch. Thank you to the team, keep up the good work. I will be back for the beautiful smiles at the reception desk and the warm atmosphere created by the staff.

Overall experience was quite good. Breakfast was good but dinner on some days weren’t very good. The hotel provided for a kids meal for dinner when the buffet wasn’t really great for kids. The kids menu provided was good. The room was quite spacious for a couple and a kid. Staff quite friendly & professional.

13 December 2025 It is a five days stay at Les Cocotiers, Rodrigues [the time I am writing this review is my third day here at the hotel]. I have given 2 stars for location because Port Mathurin isn't far, approx 5-10 mins. As for room and service, I've given 1 star because it's unclean. My bathroom has no door whereby all the water splashes near toilet [looks like the door has been broken and kept unrepaired]. The tidiness of the room and teacups aren't up to the standard I expected even from a 3*. The teabags [removed from its packets] are kept in a basket which I found quite unhygienic. The bedsheet cover was covered with entangled bundle of hair [not mine]. Clearly, the housekeeping has lots to improve. As for the service, I rarely found a smile or a warm hospitality from staffs [their expressions were cold, I felt unwelcomed]. The pool was greenish and I didnt feel to give a try at all, despite the scorching sun and heat. The dinner starts at 7pm, this could have started at 6:30pm! The breakfast at 7:30am could have started at 6:30 am too! The staffs aren't even ready at these late time 🙄 some food are placed well after the time mentioned which means that clients may missed few dishes not yet reached the buffet. It was a disappointing scene to see clients walking around the restaurant famished waiting almost with pleading eyes for the staffs to let them in! At least if its 7:30 the hotel should respect the time and everything should be ready. Expect chickens 🐔, cats and pigeons walking freely in the restaurant. Exotic? Yes ... Hygienic? No So many times I passed by the reception area and no one there! In the room, there is no phone and they ask clients to call reception from their own mobile! Once, there was no electricity and I called reception whereby I was connected to Mauritius Cocotiers while I am in Cocotiers Rodrigues! I believe that Les Cocotiers hotel has to rebuild so much in terms of their service quality and infrastructure. A minimum professionalism is expected from hotel, even if it is a 3*.

The hotel is good and the service is decent. However, one big issue is the food. Before booking my trip to Rodrigues, I went online to see the reviews and I was surprised to see how bad the reviews were for this hotel especially about the food. When I saw how the food was served and how there were insects, chickens and pigeons, I understood why the reviews were extremely bad. I felt sick, had food poisoning during my trip and after coming back to Mauritius. It saddens me that nothing is being done to keep the restaurant more hygienic and appropriate.

It was really amazing at Les Cocotiers Hotel. Good food during breakfast time and dinner. The staffs are very caring. They have good manners. Rodrigues is a very beautiful and pollution free island. People are generous, kind and very respectful. Going to Rodrigues and staying at Les Cocotiers Hotel is highly recommended.
