If you're looking to visit the 'Secret Gilis' in Lombok this is the place to stay. A charming, unassuming, small boutique hotel set within lush tropical gardens located in a quiet area off the beaten track.
I've stayed here twice in three years and will not hesitate to return. My first visit was part of a 2-week pre-organised itinerary which I had booked during the month of July, which is best time to visit. The waters are clean, the sun is out and the mess from the off season storms has been cleared.
My second visit was in March this year just after a cyclone had ravaged the islands and left behind a trail of damage. Conditions were not as good although the must-see island hopping trip to Gili Nangg and Gili Kedis will offer spectacular snorkelling conditions any time of year and without the crowds found on other islands. A private trip can be organised through the hotel so no need to shop around and snorkelling equipment is provided.
Rooms are beautifully furnished with locally sourced materials and I would recommend upgrading to their private pool villas which still present excellent value for money. You get a massive room with spacious outdoor bathroom facilities including a small plunge pool directly overlooking the beach.
Due to its remote location, you really have no option but to dine in the resort a la carte restaurant. However, there's plenty on the menu to keep you happy for a few days and the quality of food is very good.
The overall resort atmosphere is quiet although the boys behind the bar are a good laugh and always up for an impromptu karaoke night!
I can also highly recommend their in-resort spa tucked away in a quiet area at the back of the resort. Easily missed but well worth it, especially their outdoor beds that overlook the sea from an elevated spot.
Highly recommended and suggest staying here as part of wider Lombok itinerary due to its remote location. I would've given it a 5/5 if they payed more a little more attention to keeping the grounds and beach tidy.
