We visited as a group of four and ordered two double espressos with the fruitier bean, along with two specialty filter coffees—one from Peru and one from Guatemala. Unfortunately, the espresso wasn’t dialed in properly. There were coffee grounds left in the cup, the aroma smelled burned, and the aftertaste felt over-extracted, even though the first sip was okay. As for the filters, we felt the ratios were off. The Guatemalan coffee had a subtle fruitiness that we enjoyed, but the Peruvian filter sadly tasted mostly like cardboard, without any distinct tasting notes. Overall, we expected more given the offering.
The staff was friendly, but the team didn’t seem fully confident in what they were doing. Despite three people working behind the counter, the service felt rather slow.
The atmosphere was actually one of the highlights. The café is set in what used to be an old “Tante Emma” store, and the original design has been kept, which we really liked. The place was clean and nicely maintained.
We didn’t try any food. There were a few croissants that looked a bit sad, though the banana cake looked more promising. We didn’t check for Wi-Fi or power outlets.
All in all, a café with a nice concept and atmosphere, but the coffee execution didn’t quite live up to our expectations.
