A Guide to Silverton, Colorado

"The Coffee Bear is the place to be in the morning. Adventurers out at dawn swing by for coffee and breakfast burritos or drop by for a second breakfast once their hike, ski, or ride has been completed. Both Brill and Jespersen confirm that Coffee Bear is the go-to spot, with Jesperson noting that “I love that for a very remote, tiny mountain town, they are super consistent with their hours and quality.”" - Travel + Leisure Editors

Such a cute, chill coffee shop. The blueberry muffin was delightful with the cinnamon topping and the inside was soft. The veggie sandwich was perfect with the right amount of veggies and eggs. The Sausage sandwich had a good flavor. Loved the Chai! Definitely worth going to!

An Unforgettable Coffee Experience in the Heart of Silverton! Coffee Bear in Silverton, Colorado absolutely blew us away! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The rustic charm of the space perfectly complements the breathtaking mountain surroundings—it's the kind of place you want to linger in for a while. The coffee itself was phenomenal—rich, smooth, and clearly made with care and high-quality beans. We tried their signature lattes and cold brew, and both were perfectly balanced and full of flavor. You can tell they take pride in every cup they serve. But it wasn’t just the coffee that made our experience special. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and engaging in genuine conversation. You could tell they love what they do and are passionate about creating a great experience for every guest. It's the perfect fuel for a day of exploring the mountains. If you're in Silverton and looking for a place to relax, recharge, and enjoy some of the best coffee around, Coffee Bear is a must-visit. We had an amazing experience and can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommend!

The coffee here is truly delightful, and I appreciate the care taken in its preparation. The iced coffee options sound particularly tempting, especially my choice of blackberry and hazelnut flavor combination for me. It's wonderful that I had such a positive experience with my beverage. Overall, I am pleased to share that the coffee surpassed my expectations.

Google
Coffee Bear in Silverton felt like the heartbeat of this rugged little mountain town — lively, genuine, and full of character. We stopped in before heading up to Molas Pass, hoping for a quick caffeine fix but left with so much more. The coffee was phenomenal: rich, smooth, and perfectly roasted, each sip warming us against the crisp morning air. Inside, the vibe was a mix of mountain-town grit and laid-back comfort, buzzing with hikers, bikers, and locals swapping stories over steaming mugs. We carried our coffees up to the rooftop patio, the only one in Silverton, and watched the sun spill over the jagged peaks while the historic main street slowly came alive below us. It felt like the perfect send-off before the winding journey ahead — as if the town itself was sharing a final secret through each sip. That morning cup didn’t just wake us up; it turned a simple pit stop into a memory we'll keep replaying long after the mountains fade in the rearview mirror.

Great breakfast spot with plenty of drinks options. Be sure to check out the rooftop seating with a great view of the town.

Google
Coffee Bear is hands down my favorite coffee shop! We were just driving around from Ouray and stopped in Silverton. Everything was closed as it is off season. The Coffee Bear tho, it was open and poppin! Good coffee, good hot cocoa, they have food. Suuuper cozy!!!

Google
My friend and I stopped in to get coffees and breakfast burritos to enjoy on their beautiful sunny rooftop. We are now hundreds of miles away, still talking about how Coffee Bear was one of the best coffees we have ever had! Super rich flavor, perfectly made. Love you guys.

Google
Great spot. Very good coffee. I mean really good. I’m just a black coffee drinker only and their cop of Joe was spot on. It was so good we went back in the afternoon, had another cup, and sat on their roof top deck to watch the world go by. Great vibe all around.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late breakfast (10 am). Ordered two sausage egg burritos and coffee for my wife and I. No greeting; no eye contact. Should have walked out at that point. But, it seemed like the only game in town at the moment for a Sunday. The two girls behind the counter seemed engaged with one another; but easily overwhelmed when a group of four women came in and ordered some soda concoction. Finally got our burritos and they were cold. $30 was a tad steep for sub-par food. And, don't get me started on how dirty the place had been. Ceiling fans were dripping of dust and cobwebs - the two bathrooms need much attention too. Wont be back. Will push on to Chama or stay in Durango for something more palatable...

Yelp
Must stop in silverton. One of the best breakfast burritos I've had. The coffee is also great and the service is quick and friendly.

Yelp
Brewed coffee, cappuccino, and lemon bar were delicious. Hot cocoa was made from a powder and just ok. Carrot cake was slightly dry but frosting was delicious. Service was friendly and lots of seating options.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good panini breakfast. Coffee is good with lots to choose from. Its cold and rainy and this is a popular place today

Yelp
We were just passing through to check out the small town and stopped in to grab a quick snack. It's super cute and clean inside, I love the vibes. I'm sure their coffee is delicious. My 3 stars is specifically for the magic bars. The baked goods are made in house, this is definitely a plus. "When were they are made"? is a question you might want to ask before you order yours! Mine was so dry. I could tell it was not made today. I couldn't take it out of the bag to eat bc it was crumbling everywhere. I was pretty disappointed. A local coffee shop like this has such potential to be great! I would say it's expected to be great! Unfortunately my experience was not. Like I said I'm sure their coffee is really good and it's obviously fresh and made right in front of you. I would just ask about freshness before you order your baked goods.

Yelp
So my friends came here a week before we did doing a cross-country trip and they told us to check out this coffee bar because not only the price is amazing but the quality of the coffee is outstanding. My husband and I had a huge hike the very next morning so we stopped by at six in the morning and sure enough there was a giant line even out the door and we were worried. It was gonna take a long time but we were inside the doors less than two minutes and they were really quick on getting your order and, picking up your order within 10 minutes. we try hot white chocolate mocha, and it was exquisite so for the next four days while we were in town, we stopped by there. we are pretty bummed out that we have a really cool tasting coffee shop like this place so if you're nearby, definitely stop by.

Yelp
First of all, they made me a London Fog, and for this tea drinker, I was sold immediately. It's just a cool place with excellent products. My hubby got a macchiato which he said was really good and well made. We also got a blueberry muffin to eat there which was excellent and ordered a chicken salad sandwich (one of the best I have EVER had, and I'm picky about that) and a smashed sandwich (ham and Swiss on a croissant which was then grilled) and that was good too. So glad we stopped by on our tour of the Million Dollar Highway.

Yelp
Did not try the coffee just had a cup. It smells great of coffee. Try the breakfast burrito really good. Nice touch making it like a panini. Good green Chile flavor should of try the coffee. Only issue that we saw was when it is done they just sit the food on the counter instead of calling your name

Yelp
This town is so quaint... loved everything about it! Including the drive from Durango. The coffee was amazing and all the delicious baked goods! Highly recommend

Yelp
Stopped in Coffee Bear on a drive from Durango to Crested Butte. The coffee was excellent and service was fast--our group got a mocha breve and a mocha frozen drink. Really loved the overall design of the shop and multiple tiers of comfortable seating. Even though it was a drizzly morning and we didn't get to enjoy all the long-range views from the top patio, the rain made both the shop and views of main street feel even more cozy. If we hadn't been on a tight travel schedule, this would have been the perfect place to curl up with a book for a while. Definitely recommend stopping here if you drive through or take the train up to Silverton!

Yelp
Super cute coffee house in Silverton. Plenty of drink options but I opted for a drip coffee with milk. Beside the drink station they had simple syrup and cinnamon which is always a nice touch. There were ample tables and their bathroom has a heated toilet seat!
google avatar

Christina R.

Yelp
This place makes a mean oat milk cappuccino, which is not an easy drink to make. Plus it has a beautiful upstairs patio and locally made crafts for sale.
google avatar

Julia K.

Yelp
The espresso is so delicious & smooth. My fiancé got the dirty chai with a pump of caramel and loved it! The vibe in here is also so so so cute. The people are friendly, too.
google avatar

Kristian N.

Yelp
Stopped here early morning to get my obligatory iced coffee, it was all in all a good ice coffee. I mean it might not win awards but I don't think Iced coffee is that big of deal in Colorado versus Arizona. The ambiance was amazing so I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Great coffee spot!! Good coffee and yummy breakfast burritos. Inside is super cute and has a second floor. Funny extra, but the seats in the restroom are heated pretty nice on a 25 degree morning. Enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food!

Yelp
Arrived before 8 am on a Sunday and the place was already hopping. We took our drinks (carmel machiatto for me, London fog and cocoa for my companions) up to the roof top where it was cool enough to cozy up in the available blankets. There are steel drum fireplaces up there too, but they were not lit at the moment. The view was beautiful. The best thing about the visit, bar none, was the lemon bar. I mean-oh my gravy! I love lemon and I love lemon bars but usually avoid them because I'm a stealth eater and the powdered sugar gives you away. This bar had an icing on the top and it was chewy!!! I ate 2 before 8:30 in the morning!! Kind owner- if you see this post, would you consider sharing the recipe? Promise to give you all the credit! The.best.lemon.bar.EVER.

Yelp
Cutest little coffee shop! The breakfast burritos are really good. We ordered a vanilla chia and a caramel frappe, would definitely order again!
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast burritos were delicious and big. We got the combo and the vegan + egg. Great for fueling up before skiing all day.
google avatar

Yelp
This is an amazing coffee shop. It is three stories with a rooftop patio. They have indoor seating also. There are so many cool Decorations inside. The staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable. They have a small Food menu. Street parking is free.

Yelp
Best breakfast burrito & medium roast coffee in town- cant beat the views either! Worth a stop for sure!
google avatar

Irina R.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the ambiance, food and, of course coffee! Breakfast burrito (more of a hybrid between a burrito and panini) was delicious. Plenty of space (they have upstairs sitting, in addition to downstairs and outside), and service was the best!
google avatar

Cynthia A.

Yelp
We were passing through and so happy to find Coffee Bear. Great place. Great coffee! People are so relaxed and happy. Thanks for having coffee at the ready for weary travelers.

Yelp
After our long drive through the mountains to Silverton, we needed some coffee of course! Silverton is fairly small and things tended to close early, at least when we went. Luckily, we caught the coffee bear slightly before they closed. I had a tasty latte that helped warm me up on a cool day. The space was cute as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Needing a mid morning pick me up while in Silverton, I thought I'd give Coffee Bear a try. The staff was very friendly and my iced mocha was delicious. The best part was the roof top where I was able to sit and admire the gorgeous mountain views.
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
Ordered a cappuccino and the vegan burrito. Both were delicious! Love the mugs and the vibe of this little coffee place is the best! Wonderful service as well! Thank you!

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in at Coffee Bear early on a Friday morning. We were headed south to Mesa Verde. Like many independent coffee houses it has it's own unique style which is great. It has a 2nd floor loft area upstairs and it is just so open and very comfortable. It's the kind of place you can spend a lot of time in. I really like the aesthetic. The baristas were very nice. My husband and I ordered our coffees and 2 breakfast burritos and a lemon bar (for later). We picked a little table in the corner. Coffees and burritos were on point. We got there almost when it opened and there were already a lot of people there. Judging by the influx of people as we were sitting at our table this place is very popular. So if you are in Silverton pop in, you won't be disappointed.

Sylvia P.

Yelp
Friendly service nice atmosphere. Ordered a breakfast sausage in a bowl with a cappuccino and was perfect for a chilly morning. Worth the stressful drive to silverton just drive safe and follow speed limits.
google avatar

Miranda C.

Yelp
Went here to get Kaladi coffee. Had a dirty chai with coconut milk. It was watery and underwhelming. The roof top area is nice. Overall I might it again, but definitely something other than the dirty chai.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Caramel Macchiato! I got mine with Almond Milk and the whip cream! And breakfast burritos! So ! Charming place with a cute little display of gifts and art for sale. The views are incredible too!

Want S.

Yelp
Coffee was good, the staff however need a crash course on customer service and etiquette. The lady behind the counter making coffee (for lack of a better term) was a total b1tch.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
The lemon and magic bars are delicious. The coffee was wonderful as well. The top view of the mountains are inviting and soothing. The customers service could definitely be better. I think I might have been overcharged. I paid $40 ish dollars for 2 snack bars and tree earrings. I should have asked for my recipient but we were in a hurry. Overall I'd come back.
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
Great place to grab coffee. And really well priced too! The best part was the upstairs patio with a beautiful view. Can't get better that that!!
google avatar

Ru C.

Yelp
Mmm high quality coffee! Super cute and cozy spot with chill playlist. Love the vibes.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Iced mocha and breakfast burritos were AMAZING!!!!! I ordered vegan and my husband got sausage. Friendly staff helping with the order and cozy inside decor, especially on a snowy fall day. We sat in the front window seating and watched the snow. The iced mochas were perfect. Love this place and will be back!
google avatar

Sara W.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop! The coffee (Iced Americano) was mild and delicious. We also enjoyed a lemon bar and a peanut bar. Both delectable. We will be back for sure!!

Bruce A.

Yelp
My only complaint is I missed the breakfast burritos!!! Every time I am in town I get a latte here. They don't allow dogs inside but the ambiance is awesome in the summer or winter (heated toilet seats in the cold!!!). Highly recommend!

Erin Y.

Yelp
Very busy on a Saturday morning but worth the wait. The burritos are fantastic and the service was friendly!
google avatar

Devry A.

Yelp
Coffee was good in a cool environment. Staff very friendly. They seemed to get good foot traffic and bad cute souvenirs with their logo.
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
Such a cool place! Great coffee. Great drinks. The view from the rooftop is awesome. We got our coffee and chilled a bit on the roof top. Amazing views and so darn cool to see the entire town. What an experience.
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
This place has super strong coffee and a nice upstairs balcony. We stopped in after a night of camping, and it served its purpose. Decent prices and pastries, but no real food food. Friendly and efficient staff. Would visit again.
google avatar

Cassy E.

Yelp
If you need a early morning cappuccino or latte in a beautiful location this is your place. Walked down two mornings for my coffee fix. They also have a nice pastry selection and burritos.
google avatar

Leslie H.

Yelp
This place exudes a great vibe. And is an amazing spot to come in out of the cold for something great to drink. The three of us had awesome coffee and a few snacks. I chatted with the ladies behind the counter and they were delightful...and it happened they owned the place. Choose this spot over anything else for coffee, snack, etc. You will feel taken care of and have a great street view.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor decor and setup. Very nice lady at the front counter who was welcoming, friendly, and courteous. :) I needed a pick-me-up in Silverton and knew coffee would be perfect. I got a hot caramel latte with almond milk and it was good! Not anything too special, but it was original and not too sweet, just the way I like. :) I would give this place 4 stars but I don't think I can with the price. :( I got a 16oz hot latte with almond milk and was up-charged a dollar for it. I'm used to having to pay more, but not $1 more, more like $0.30-$0.60 more. I know basic, unsweetened almond milk is NOT much more expensive than cow's milk (aside from the government subsidies). I tried considering that this is a small business, but it cost almost $2 more than getting the same thing-- at the same size-- at Starbucks. I didn't see many vegan options but there is soy/almond milk! (Tip for vegans: say no whipped cream; ask if they add drizzles or extra creamy a syrups to your coffee that may have milk in them.) This establishment would be great for sitting in, as they have a roof deck with nice tables and umbrellas to overview Silverton.
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Best vibes ever. Don't go anywhere else for coffee. Friendly staff, genuinely curious about what you're headed off to do with your day. Cozy seating with a wood burning oven in the space. Heated toilet seat in the bathroom too - lol, everything was pleasant.

Laura L.

Yelp
great service! Really chill atmosphere and really nice employees.
google avatar

Wes G.

Yelp
Friendly people and the breakfast burrito is awesome. Spicy green chili and it being panini pressed gave it a wonderful crispy outside. Eggs were fluffy and sausage was flavorful but not greasy. Spinach tasted fresh. No bite left me disappointed. As for the bathrooms...it has a heated toilet seat! Perfect for cooler months.
google avatar

Robin L.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, place was cute and clean, seating options were plentiful, bathrooms were clean with cute mural. Staff friendly and attentive. And they have free sour cream and salsa by the silverware- A+ for that! Sausage breakfast burrito with added green chili was delicious and huge, but not as spicy as I wanted it to be- added Tapatio and was great. Dirty Chai was yummy. Would recommend.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
The one place in Silverton that won't disappoint! Coffee choices, the usual fare but all done very well. Breakfast burritos and bagels. All that with a super cool atmosphere, ambiance and vibe to help you enjoy however you choose to caffeinate. Great place to hang in the morning and catch up on all things internet.
google avatar

Bonnie M.

Yelp
It is an early Tuesday morning and we just left Coffee Bear. This place has it going on! Coffee and Americano, homemade bars were great. Service was friendly and quick even though the line kept building. Kudos!
