While visiting the San Diego area, we chose to head to La Jolla for the morning and wanted to chose a place for breakfast. We randomly chose the Coffee Cup after checking Google Maps. When we arrived, on a Sunday morning, we did have to wait for....less than five minutes, for a seat. We ordered a Mexican mocha, blackberry pancakes and the Soy Chorizo scramble. After a reasonable wait, our food arrived and was well presented. The taste.... Fabulous! What a great breakfast. The soy chorizo was, in my opinion, perfectly seasoned. The pancakes were delicious. Great breakfast and mocha! Service was friendly and efficient. As a bonus, there is outdoor seating that is dog friendly.

This isn't really a coffee shop as the name may indicate, but it's a pretty good restaurant for breakfast in La Jolla. It's been around for a long time and our server Sal was great! The coffee is okay and they don't really have a traditional All-American breakfast, but you can add eggs and bacon to your pancake or french toast order. Seating outside is nice and there's a steady stream of customers which is a good indication.

Unbelievably delicious food! We went here while on vacation, THREE DAYS out of the five we were in town! Lol! Friendly, hard-working staff and great breakfast! Breakfast Tacos, Cinnamon French Toast & Avocado Scramble! 😋❗️

My favourite place to eat in La Jolla. Their breakfast options are really yummy. Papas Loco is my favourite dish. The presentation is very aesthetic

This place!!! We absolutely loved it! From the location to the food to the awesome staff! I will start off by saying that I am a very picky person, I am a planner, a worrier, a perfectionist (you get where I am going) - so with that said... I am hard to please, LOL! However, Coffee Cup Cafe far exceeded any expectations I had! It was my birthday weekend (a long bday weekend) and we went down to La Jolla early on a Monday morning with 2 main focuses... The beach and to eat! We found parking right in front and walked inside and were greeted with a big smile and a welcoming vibe! We chose to eat outside and it was just perfect! We got this quaint, local vibe and I loved it! Also, sitting outside you can day dream over the beautiful buildings and their architecture, people watch etc! Thank you for an unbelievable birthday breakfast! They serve their food like a work of art!

This place is amazing. Best food in La Jolla. Good bang for your buck. The servers are super helpful, kind and accommodating. We had Samuel and he was awesome. Highly recommend this place.

Cute little breakfast and lunch spot in la jolla. Small interior. Super friendly staff. Beautifully plated food. Pretty pricey, but typical for the area. Menus look like they need a good cleaning/refresh. They love their rosemary here (added to many items).

I love this small shop! Food and customer service are amazing. Sometimes you just need to be patient because food takes longer then you eat in 5 mnts lol because is so yummy😋 Parking can be hazel sometimes in Downtown La Jolla but you can park surrender just make sure don't go over the time because during the week days I believe parking is just 2 hours not sure, always read the sign.

A true breakfast experience. Outstanding food and pleasant service. The rosemary potatoes may have been the best I've ever tasted anywhere. The freshness of the ingredients shines to enhance the chef's wonderful creations. One of the best things about this long-established unassuming restaurant is that it hasn't been subverted by influencers. You can still enjoy the best of La Jolla cuisine without waiting in line for hours (we were immediately seated for our Sunday brunch - although it WAS shortly after opening). We have been coming here for years and plan to continue. Strongly recommend. Pet friendly on their patio dining area.

Everything in my original review of 2010 is still valid, however, Coffee Cup has not been open for business since April 2023 or so. Apparently, they are doing a refresh (see attached photo from their Instagram page). That was three months ago! If you walk by, there is no evidence of any work going on which makes one wonder. Moreover, the website is now completely gone. However, if you phone, it picks up and you hear an outgoing message but no information at all. Peculiar. It would be nice if someone could update us. I miss this place a lot as the food is just do damn good here! update: 7/12/2023 The website given here is coffeecuplj.com which goes nowhere. The website coffeecuplajolla.com, however, is live, though no SSL so gives an insecure warning.

This is an overdue review as we came several weeks ago. On the morning that we went (Sunday morning), the wait was not too bad. We waited maybe 10 min and then got seated outside. SERVICE - Our waitress came and took our drink orders. Brought those out and then proceeded with food. After that, I went downhill from there. It took over an hour to get our food. During the entire hour, no one checked in, no one brought more water, nothing happened. No one let us know our food was delayed. Luckily, our plans were not later in the day so we did not have to rush out of there. I absolutely understand some places are understaffed but they should be trained to communicate with the customers at the very least. FOOD Pumpkin Pancakes - These were a bit dense but they have a nice pumpkin flavor that was not too overpowering. Papas Loco - I got this with an added egg and no beans. They still added beans and when they brought it out, we mentioned it. They offered to bring us a new one but we already waited over an hour so we just picked the beans out. The dish was pretty disappointing as the potatoes were soggy. They were not crispy and everything was pretty mushy together. Breakfast Sandwich - This was delicious. The crispy bacon was cooked well. The potatoes on the side were actually crispy. Everything about this sandwich was spot on. I understand the whole covid, understaffed dilemma, but hopefully they can improve on communication. Food was okay but not something we would want to try over and over again.

Came here for breakfast on a Friday morning during a two day stay in La Jolla. This place is located on a side street in the heart of La Jolla. We arrived at 8 am just as they opened. My wife wanted to sit inside due to it being a little chilly. In retrospect, though there are no views, it would have been nicer to sit outside. There is no ambience inside the restaurant. Our server, the only one for about 4 parties, was very good. She took care of all of our needs and kept my cup filled with their delicious coffee. My wife had the French toast and I had the breakfast tamales, The presentation of the dishes was very good, and they were tasty, too. The tamales had a sweet corn taste that I found to my liking. The eggs, black beans, and salsa are separate on the plates. I preferred to mix them up. We would definitely come again.

Arrived around 10am on a Saturday- Waited only for maybe 20ish minutes for an outdoor seat, pretty pleased with the distances seating! Most customers waiting are wearing masks, waiters are all wearing masks. Shane, our waiter, was super communicative and attentive, great service!!! We ordered the Omar and the avocado scramble. Both were great and yummy!

A friend of ours who frequents the coffee cup brought us here for brunch. It did not disappoint. My fiancé started off with an awesome latte. Then for breakfast I had the avocado scramble which was great. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were not over seasoned with rosemary. My fiancé had the French toast. It was perfectly seasoned and the bread was super soft and seemed homemade. The inside did seem a little soft but not bad. The outside patio was a great place to sit especially on a nice morning. Should be a place we come back to!

I wanted to try this place since I read so many good reviews on Yelp. It was pretty good. The restaurant itself is tiny and there is limited outdoor seating. I chose to sit outside since it was crowded and very noisy inside. I was greeted by Coby? Cody? Not sure sorry. He was very sweet and offered to take my drink and food order right away which was a good thing because the server, Johnny, was very overwhelmed and was slow to get to me. I felt like I was "forgotten" outside. I ordered the avocado scramble and orange juice. The scramble was good. Different then what I was expecting, but still good. I thought everything would be mixed together like scrambled eggs with stuff inside. Nope. It was a pile of eggs, similar to an omelette, but not. They were cooked perfectly. Very tasty. The avocado, green onion and tomato was chopped and placed on top of the rosemary potatoes. So if you wanted to eat it together, you had to get a little bit of that with each bite of egg. The potatoes were amazing. Hands down best part of the meal. I wish there were more. The plate also comes with their signature rosemary bread which was toasted. I didn't like it. It was very bland. Sourdough would be better in my opinion. The orange juice was fabulous. All in all, I enjoyed my meal and I'd go back again. As a Yelper, you get a free cup of coffee for checking in, but mine was forgotten. Again, I think because they were understaffed. Give it a go. Food is fresh, cooked perfectly and your tummy will be happy.

While I only had a cup of Joe, I thoroughly enjoyed the spot! And that's exactly what it is, a great little spot in La Jolla. Covidly organized, the tables were clean and servers friendly. I will definitely return to enjoy the menu, but do recommend it after a day of shopping and just to people watch. Bon appétit!

Nice, chill, easy lunch spot for quick grub. Came here post surf one day for lunch and it was pleasant. This place is very small and doesn't have a whole lots of tables. Luckily it wasn't busy, so we got a table right away and ordered 2 items to share. Prices were high but on par with La Jolla standards. They do serve breakfast and lunch during lunch which is always nice. I like options. I got the half sandwich and half salad combo. The sandwich was good, salad was very standard, mixed greens with packaged salad dressing. Overall good experience. Parking is extremely difficult since this is La Jolla, so plan accordingly.

Came all the way here for breakfast when the hours said it was open and there's no sign and no one there. Was looking forward to eating here and it was closed for no reason. If they are out of business or closed they should update their hours.

OMG I bookmarked this place so long ago! Back in August of 2016! I've been putting off going here but now I regret that I postponed my visit! I had breakfast here with a coworker last weekend. The place is pretty small so I recommend coming really early or after the breakfast rush around noon. Luckily we snagged a table with hardly any wait. It's really tight in there, not much room to eat. I highly recommend the Omar Special! It's what they're known for and it's absolutely delicious! It's egg whites scrambled with cheese topped with chicken and mushrooms with a yummy pesto and avocado sauce. I'm so glad I didn't settle for French toast! I would have missed out on this! My coworker ordered the Breakfast Enchiladas and we agree that the Omar Special is the best! Our server was cute and friendly. Great service and good recommendations. If you check in on yelp you get a free cup of coffee! It was good too! According to the server their coffee is Cafe Moto! Loved it! Come to Coffee Cup for a unique and delicious breakfast!

This place serves up some really good food. I've never been to the area and decided on this place for breakfast. I got the Soy Chorizo Scramble which was AMAZING! The potatoes were so crispy and accompanied by tomatoes & green onions. The omelette had Soy Chorizo and cheese. Also the plate had avocado,jalapeños,and salsa. I had a slice of rosemary bread from my husbands breakfast which was so good! It really was so good and I would definitely return. The place is small so I can imagine on the weekends there's a wait. Table service has changed due to Covid and I think that's incredible. Coffee Cup Cafe are doing their part to ensure the safety of their patrons. The food is still amazing. The difference is you get everything in a to-go container. Service is a bit slow so I advise taking your time and not being in a rush if you want to sit outside to dine. Take out is a great option. This place is one of my favorite brunch places and I'm so glad that I don't have to be deprived of it because of Covid. Thank you Coffee Cup Cafe! Dishes: Highly recommend- Omer Special I love their rosemary potatoes! On this day we had French toast which has a not too sweet blueberry sauce to accompany the French toast. Coffee Cup Cafe has managed to adapt with the times, I really appreciate that!

Five Stars for the service. Brian took great care of us and gave a good start to the day. Outdoor, covered seating during Covid, servers are wearing masks and clean tables between customers. Food and coffee was served fresh and hot. We had the Avocado Scramble and Breakfast Burrito. Both were excellent. I love it when the tortillas are grilled as it gives the burrito a nice crispy texture. The Mexican Mocha and Latte were good; nice and hot for a chilly morning. We will definitely be back when we're in the area.

Can I just say it is DELICIOUS here. Trying out a vegan diet and having non-vegetarian friends makes it kind of hard to find something to satisfy everyone. However, this place does the job. They have plenty of vegetarian options and by changing somethings up, vegan options as well. Parking is kind of hard to find as it is only street parking and it was kind of crowded on a Saturday. The venue itself is pretty small and if you have a larger party, you might expect to wait. I ordered the lunch tamales and substituted the rice out for potatoes and omitted the cheese and sour cream. It was delicious and a lot of food for what you pay for. The tamales were covered in green sauce and was slightly sweet. The potatoes were probably the best thing I ate, it was crispy, salty, cooked with some rosemary. I'm craving it just thinking about it. It comes with a salad, beans, potatoes, and two tamales. I finished everything on my plate. My friends got the soyrizo plate and the enchilada plate. I assume their's was just as good as we all left with empty plates. It's a cute local find and I highly recommend trying it out after you've hit the beach.

My 6 yr old son loves this place so much that he wanted me to write a review that this place is amazing. He says, "I totally love it and it's definitely on my list". He thinks it is absolutely the best loves the French toast, the Omar special and so much more than that. We will be back for sure!

This is a our favorite breakfast spot in La Jolla, been coming here for years with the family and I can't believe I have not left a review so here goes. The food is always great, recommend the Omar Special and the Papa Locos, and for the kids the Pancakes are always a hit. The staff are super friendly and the service is always great. If you happen to be visiting SD can't recommend this place enough, lots of outdoor seating also. Tue vibe is laid back and chill, parking is ok for the area, you might have to drive round the block a couple of times but have always been able to find a spot. If you want to take your food closer to the ocean for something more scenic they also do take out, enjoy this amazing spot

Awesome restaurant/cafe in La Jolla! The restaurant is small but there is seating available inside & out. Friendly customer service. Great food! 2 hour & 1 hour parking in the front & close by. Coffee Cup Rosemary: I was thinking I was going to get potatoes but I was pleasantly surprised when I got hash browns! Simple yet good. The Omar Special: This is a must order! So darn good yet healthy! The egg white scramble is yum. But the icing on the cake to this dish was the grilled chicken & brown rice with a drizzle with pesto & avocado sauce. That sauce was killer good! Mexican Hot Chocolate: So creamy with a little kick!

I truly can't think of anything that would have made my breakfast here better. I opted for the seemingly simple breakfast tacos and was astounded by their flavor. The Chipotle sauce was incredible and there were such depths of flavors when paired with the salsa and fresh veggies and cheesy eggs. The potatoes were a nice surprise all on their own. When I added beans from the side, I was full after my first taco. This was the experience I came to San Diego for. Meanwhile, my husband's tamales were tender and light, our service was nice, the atmosphere was homey, and outdoor seating was available so we could look out at some dogs there.

Came here for lunch today with 3 friends. No reservation but we were promptly seated inside. It's such a cute quaint restaurant, perfect for smaller groups. The outdoor seating looked nice as well. We were served water and greeted warmly by our server. My friends ordered the soy chorizo scramble, avocado scramble, and yogurt. I ordered the steak hash and eggs. I love the portions, my dish was perfect for me who had come in hungry for a late lunch. The steak cubes were tender and juicy, and went well with the tomato and potato medley. Probably the best steak hash I've had in La Jolla! Would come here again in the future!

Coffee Cup is a little cafe in la Jolla. It's small, but has enough seating, especially with the outdoor section (4 tables). The breakfast menu options are diverse, with a mix of different savory ingredients. There's also a lunch menu. I had the breakfast burrito. It came with a side of beans and salsa. I also had a green pineapple smoothie. The burrito was filling. Adding the red salsa and sour cream was a nice addition, though it was a bit plain. The Tabasco sauce helped. The juice was nice. The pineapple was a refreshing counterpart to the green smoothie base. I'd like to go back to try other items on the menu.

This was my last place to stop before leaving San Diego and I must say - I was not disappointed! I must add that parking is really interesting and difficult to find. I do like the fact that you don't have to pay to park but there is a 30minute and 2 hour time limit in certain areas. But, I love how small and cozy this place is- It gave me a local diner feel and this is important to me because some of the places I visited while I was here had a restaurant chain feel. It was nice to go in a place that felt local. The gentleman that greeted me was really nice and had a big smile on his face, which is nice to see on a Monday morning! The waitress that took the order was also really friendly and helpful with a nice smile! The food came pretty quickly and OMG it was delicious !! I removed the dairy from my scramble and I didn't feel like it made the meal any less tastier. I loved the small details that they added to the meal -like the way they cut the green onions and cooked them to perfection. The veggies didn't feel soggy and still had a crunch and it's color! I loved the cilantro garnish on the plate as well. I could tell that the chef really took pride in their food! Definitely go check this place out and find something that you would enjoy. They have a nice selection on their menu!

Found this little gem via Groupon. I was surprised to find out that the owner also owns Isabels in Pacific Beach which is also yummy. Our server was such a sweetheart and really helpful when I ordered to accommodate my soy allergy. The food was AMAZING and the coffee wowwwww I had 3 cups it was so good. I got the steak and eggs dish with hash browns and toast and wow the flavors were incredible. My girlfriend got the BLT and said it was one of the bests she's ever had We're so glad we found you guys . You remind me of Zanzibar and I miss them so much thank you for taking such good care of us

Decided to stop here today with my son for my birthday brunch. Excellent customer service the food was good. We will definitely be back to try more stuff on the menu.

Excellent food! Especially the french toast with berry sauce with side of eggs and bacon.

Before I explain the low score, the food was delicious. We ordered the lettuce wrap and the superfood salad. DELICIOUS. The problem however, was the customer service. A prior server and present nurse, I am dedicated to serving others 24/7. We unfortunately arrived a few minutes to closing and did not know until after we ordered. Our server began cleaning up the chairs who told us that he was going to need to put the chairs up by 3pm. We responded with, "we expect to be done before then", to which he responded, "I hope so"....ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Here we are, taking care of the community during a pandemic and this is how you treat the medical staff in the community you serve? It's the first break we've had in weeks! Even if we weren't health care providers this is the worst customer service I have experienced in La Jolla. We will not be returning out of sheer principle. Perhaps some additional education is in order for this restaurant.

Firstly, I loved the seating arrangements. My skid by the window was perfect for the San Diego weather, and if you play Pokémon Go, you'll be within a gym. The food was delicious. Underneath the beautiful display of Avocado, Cilantro, Black, Beans, Cilantro.... things we love, were beautiful fried potatoes. Listen, these potatoes were seasoned, these potatoes were hot, and these potatoes were crunchy. More importantly, these potatoes must have been meticulously prepared because there was no grease or starch on my plate. I can't forget about the egg you see in the picture, it was delicious. I recommend getting your eyes scrambled if you order Papas locos. This makes the meal a little more fun since you're given tortillas. I tell you this although prefer mine(eggs) over hard.

Okay. I need to gush for a moment. First of all I had probably the BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. Zero exaggeration. The best. It was also the size of my head. So I left stuffed. Secondly these potato's are made of dreams. Absolutely incredible. And lastly they made funny fruit face pancakes for my kids. They were so thrilled and I mean THRILLED. My Son named his pancake and went into it face first. Who needs silverware? I mean I wish he would use a fork. But regardless it was funny. And a huge hit. If I could go here everyday I would.

If you are looking for breakfast in La Jolla, you have to give Coffee Cup a try! Time after time, I have been impressed by their options, service, portions and quality! I always recommend this to friends visiting the area. Although the ambience is diner like, Coffee Cup is typically crowded so I recommend coming on a weekday or for an early or late brunch. The menu has great selection and is guaranteed to please everyone's cravings, from pancakes to omelets to lunch options. My go to order is the the Soy Chorizo scramble. YUM. The eggs come with generous amount of soyrizo and a side of rosemary potatoes and beans and a tortilla. The soyrizo is so tasty it is hard to believe it isn't real meat. I also love to ask for the potatoes extra crispy. They are super well seasoned and match perfectly with the egg. My friend ordered the pancake special which was a banana oatmeal pancake and I was super impressed! The oatmeal on the edge of the pancake made them crispy and the banana made them perfectly fluffy. I would consider ordering these if I get to come back to coffee cup. I think the moral of the story is you can't really go wrong with the options here!

We stopped here to get coffee one morning and the food on everyone's plate looked so good so we went back the next morning. Service here is great! But the food was not really tasty. It looks amazing but taste didn't match. I had pancakes and they could just use a bit more flavor and moistness. A friend had the quesadilla and that was better. Wanted to love it.

This is one of our favorite breakfast spots in La Jolla! We've been coming here for about a decade. Not only is the food fresh and very unique. If you have the pleasure of being served by Shane it will make for a wonderful dining experience. I guess the reason why it's my favorite breakfast spot in La Jolla because their food is fresh and you can substitute fresh vegetables instead of rice which I think is pretty fabulous! Favorites are the Omar Special special, Soy Chorizo and the Zen breakfast.

This place was pretty good. The staff were really helpful and friendly, and the the social distancing guidelines were on point! The food presentation was really awesome and they allowed our dogs in the patio. The food itself was okay, the beans were a little hard and it could be tastier. But since this cafe was super accommodating and aesthetic pleasing, I would come back !

We always have a meal at this great place when we are in La Jolla. This time, we sat outside (social distancing and no inside dining) and had an excellent brunch. I had Omar's Special and he had the breakfast special. If it wouldn't have been tacky, we would have licked the plates! To top it off, our waiter, Sam, was the BEST!

I'm trying not to eat much beef, because I know beef production especially is terrible for the planet, but, I cannot not order the steak hash at Coffee Cup, especially after an ocean swim. The little rectangles of beef are tender, and glazed in some very slightly, very slightly sweet sauce, which goes incredibly well with the crisp, golden brown potatoes, fresh tomato dices, fresh cilantro, and horseradish cream, which they serve on the side and which I dip the fork into before selecting some hash to complete the bite. That's not even all. Did I mention this also comes with scrambled eggs, great salsa, and rosemary toast? It's a mix & match delight--but be sure you're hungry, because it is a lot of food. The service is top-notch. Every waiter I have had here has reminded me of waiters in Paris, a place where the profession is much more respected than it is in America, and where, accordingly, waiters often seem to have a higher level of professionalism and professional pride. Respect to every one of you at Coffee Cup--you're amazing! And the coffee. The coffee is perfect diner coffee. Roasty, bold, piping hot. And because the waiters are so good, they will keep you in coffee as much as you like.

My favorite no frills breakfast spot in La Jolla. It's a tiny little cafe and only a few outdoor seats, but the wait is worth it. My go to dish is of course the Omar Special with extra avocado sauce. I wish I could get the recipe for that stuff- it's like crack cocaine. Their French toast and pancakes are delicious and you can also find super healthy items on the menu too. They're similar to some items on the Isabel's Cantina menu, but Isabel's does NOT have the Omar special :(. I wish this pace was closer to me, but it's not a bad place to eat and walk to the cove afterwards. Service is always on par and very attentive.

Get the breakfast tamales!! They're absolutely delicious 10/10 and good size portions

Mission Coffee Cup is a breakfast/brunch coffee shop that adds a Spanish twist to their breakfast items. It's another great restaurant option if you're in La Jolla and you want a twist on a traditional meal. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - I almost missed this place. It's called Mission Coffee Cup on Yelp, but only the words Coffee Cup are listed on the building. There's outdoor seating, but unless you just want to enjoy the outside don't bother. It simply overlooks the street & parked cars. Inside you'll find an assortment of tables & chairs. Very laid back though. After visiting The Cottage it really didn't seem the same. 1/2 Star. Service - No complaints. Good solid service, not outstanding but by no means bad. Fast & friendly are my main requirements, and they were both. It did get busy and took a while to close out the check, but that's minor as our main service during the meal was fine. As an added bonus, our kid's pancakes were both customized with boy\girl faces. It was cool & our kids loved it. 1 Star. Food - Mission Coffee Cup has a Spanish influence, so I went with the highly recommended Omar. This amazing dish was two items in one. One side was egg/cheese/tomatoes. The other side had brown rice/pesto/avocado. Both sides topped with grilled chicken in a mushroom sauce. It was the ultimate brunch item: one side breakfast & one side lunch. Also, their rosemary potatoes are excellent. Even the kid's pancake breakfast was quality. 1 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Probably. There are so many good places in La Jolla, but I'm willing to come back to Mission Coffee Cup because there are so many Spanish influenced dishes I want to try. The Omar special was so good I can't help but imagine the others are as good. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

I had a very good breakfast at this place. I ordered their board special (see) which consisted of a fluffy scramble with baby spinach, cream cheese, jalapenos, topped with sauteed mushrooms with a side of strong scented rosemary potatoes and fresh salsa for $13. Impressive food (rosemary potato magic), superb service, neighborly somehow, friendly space, everyone is well behaved. Perfect low key brunch place. Laid back waiters with perfect manners who carry dog treats, easy place to laugh in.

A lot of the local breakfast places were closed, so we ended up here. After a short wait, we were seated. The service was great. We checked in for a free coffee, and got coffees and refills for the table. The food was good, and filling, but not so heavy that you feel gross. I got the artichoke scramble which came with marinated artichokes, a huge egg omelet, and rosemary potatoes, which were well cooked. They were crisp on the outside. Yum. My friends enjoyed their food, as well.

Delicious and a fantastic setting for a leisurely outdoor patio-dining breakfast in beautiful, charming downtown La Jolla. Everything is very fresh and tasty, and the service is warm and friendly. This is one of the few restaurants where the food comes out looking exactly like it does on the restaurant's frequently-updated Instagram.

This is one of those places you don't want to review, lest people discover the gem that it is. But then that's why it deserves to be discovered by everyone, and not just us locals who know its magic! Coffee cup may look like a hole-in-the-wall dive, but it's anything but. The food is fresh, innovative and not greasy. Potatoes like my mom always made - soft on the inside and crispy crunchy outside without the processed grease taste. To die for. My standard is always the avocado scramble with fresh herbs, tomatoes, scallions, cilantro, rosemary bread toast... the portions are huge!! Burritos, sandwiches, salads. Friendly, happy Service. It's our fave, and no matter what new places we try, we always wonder why we just didn't stick with tried, true and fabulous!!!

I don't know what the big hype was about. People were lined up for this place. The host was really nice, yes, and it was a really cool place to eat breakfast/lunch in La Jolla, yes... but worth the wait? Ummm...probably not. So we got seated and they ran out of water cups...so half our table didn't get water cups (and it's already HOT outside, it is summer now) and still waiting. Service was so slow. The waitress just forgot, until we flagged her down and asked if the cups were done washing (which we knew it was already done because we saw it on the counter for like 10 minutes, which she took no notice of) and by the time we got seated, there weren't a lot of people! I got the steak sandwich, and I must say that is the plainess meat I ever tasted. Tasted like nothing, no salt, no pepper. And I how stingy were they on the meat?! I only got like 5 pieces of steak in my whole sandwich! I was eating mostly bread with lettuce & tomatoes. A little disappointed since my friend raved about this place. Although they were stingy on the steak, some other dishes were pretty decent. Their tofu was good. The sauce for it was different then others.

What a hidden gem this place is in La Jolla! My friends have been wanting to bring me here for a very long time and I finally had the chance to come in and try their breakfast. We came in around 11:30 AM. My first impression of the place was that it was super small and I didn't know if I was going to enjoy sitting so close next to the other customers. That is the only downside. Also one of the tables is located by the ice machine and it blows hot air. It was 100° outside and we got sat at that table... luckily they were very nice and accommodating and let us move. Over all the place was clean and the service was great. The food was fresh and very tasty. I tried a few bites of some dishes and they were all really good. My friends love everything they serve here even their lunch items. I will definitely make sure to stop by next time I am in La Jolla and try out some more items on their menu!

Everyone hypes up The Cottage, but Coffee Cup will give them a run for their money! Ordered the blackberry banana pancakes - they were the shiznit!! So delicious! They also put the fruit and blueberry compote on the pancakes to make a smiley face. It was adorable! I think I was on a blackberry kick cuz I also got the blackberry smoothie and it was so light, refreshing, and healthy. It's a small place but you can opt to eat al fresco or inside. Inside is a bit noisy with the kitchen right at the front, so I'd recommend eating outside and bringing your pooch along to enjoy the sunshine!

The veganized soy chorizo breakfast plate was AWESOME! The Omar had an unlikely combination of green onions, jack cheese and pesto creates a great mouthfeel.

A hidden gem brunch spot in La Jolla, commonly overshadowed by The Cottage, Cody's, and Prepkitchen. If you're coming here on a weekend, it's almost a guaranteed a wait. But the servers are fast and tables turn quickly. I ended up ordering the Omar Special, which had grilled chicken, brown rice, and egg white, this is all topped by an avocado sauce which is delicious. I would highly recommend getting this healthy bunch options. The lady ordered the blackberry pancakes, served with fresh strawberries and a thick cut of butter. The pancakes were fluffy and not too sweet.
