Coffee Shack Backpackers & Surf School

Can really recommend the 5 day surf course package, the teachers are great and I am truly happy with the progress I made and Coffee bay is just an amazing place if you want to learn how to surf. Yummy food, staff is super friendly and helpful, and the nature there is just stunning. Rooms are very basic (we slept in a dorm) but hey - it's a backpackers. Roads have gotten much better compared to a couple of years ago. Hope I can come back soon.

Nice place to stay a few days during your surf trip. The place has everything you need, as a nice restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The owners are super nice as the staff. If you don't surf, there are some little hikings around the hills and the local villages. 💚

After just a few nights, I can truly say that Coffee Shack Backpackers is one of my favorite places in the world. A welcoming haven for you whether you are seeking adventure in the ocean or the mountains, want to learn about a new culture, find community, tranquility or inspiration. You feel like you become part of the family and all the staff are kind, helpful and genuine, including the owners who are around interacting with guests. Not to mention that this whole experience comes at a very reasonable price, making it accessible to young wanderers of all sorts. I’ll be back as soon as I can!

I booked the 7-day surf package and I would do it again anytime! The service, the people on-site, the rooms, the food – absolutely everything was perfect! We were well taken care of and everything was communicated and coordinated with us. From day one we felt truly welcomed. Surfing was an absolute blast, thanks to the amazing surf instructors!

Really good backpacker hostel with nice staff. There’s all the normal things, wifi, bar, activities list, and the price is good. They even upgraded me to a private room even though I paid for a dorm!

Well, where do I begin. From the service, staff friendliness, the inhouse meals provided,location, everything so relaxing and superb. The only quibble is the scruffy area surrounding the cafe situated near the entrance. The owners should make an effort in adding to the charm by keeping their area tourist friendly and clean. The Coffee Shack was amazing all round. We stayed in the top Kings house which was quaint and had a lovely view. The road in to coffee bay has a few surprising speed humps which caused slight out of body experiences but they did the trick. No need for speed. Loved it

Amazing and nice staff and surf instructor. The host was always very helpful! It felt like a family. Delicious food and large portions. Beautiful accommodations. The shared kitchen was very well equipped. A perfect place for surfing... for beginners and professionals. They also offer beautiful hikes. And they are very cheap for what you get. A very good price-performance ratio. I would definitely go there again!
