Coffee Shack Backpackers & Surf School

Beautiful place! Was initially worried about the roads but they’ve just been done and no pot holes! We had no issues and we used a 2WD SUV (you can do it with smaller car but less comfort perhaps) They offer great activities so you’ll always have something to do, or you can just chill at the beach or walk along the rocks to mermaids pool. Loved it!!

I had the most incredible time at Coffee Shack in Coffee Bay! The people who work there are some of the kindest, friendliest and most helpful I’ve ever met. It was such an amazing experience to get to know the local culture in such a genuine way, and the activities they offer make it even more special. We felt completely safe and welcomed from the moment we arrived on the Transkei. The waves and the views are absolutely stunning, we even saw dolphins and whales almost every day! Please go visit Coffee Shack , the people who run it truly deserve all the support and visitors they can get. By staying there, you’re also helping the local community, which makes the experience even more meaningful. We will definitely come back next year. I sincerely wish the very best for the entire Coffee Shack community!

Spent an amazing family week at Coffee Shack. Belinda and the team were excellent, the place is very well run, Coffee Shack empowers the local community and the scenery and beaches are breathtaking. We will be back!

Had a short visit yesterday morning for breakfast, the staff treated me like royalty. I'm definitely going to book in soon. I loved their service.

Magical place filled with good people. Still not reached by mass tourism, as most people in SA skip the Wild Coast altogether, jumping from the Garden Route to Johannesburg. But Coffee Bay was the highlight of my time in SA, so I recommend checking it out.

Can really recommend the 5 day surf course package, the teachers are great and I am truly happy with the progress I made and Coffee bay is just an amazing place if you want to learn how to surf. Yummy food, staff is super friendly and helpful, and the nature there is just stunning. Rooms are very basic (we slept in a dorm) but hey - it's a backpackers. Roads have gotten much better compared to a couple of years ago. Hope I can come back soon.

Booked the 7-day surf package as a solo traveler, not knowing these 7 days would be the best 7 days of my life. Small place makes it impossible to NOT make any friends. Definitely coming back again sometime and surfing lessons made me improve rapid fast. Was able to go on a solo surf alone after just 5 days of lessons.
