Magical place filled with good people. Still not reached by mass tourism, as most people in SA skip the Wild Coast altogether, jumping from the Garden Route to Johannesburg. But Coffee Bay was the highlight of my time in SA, so I recommend checking it out.

Booked the 7-day surf package as a solo traveler, not knowing these 7 days would be the best 7 days of my life. Small place makes it impossible to NOT make any friends. Definitely coming back again sometime and surfing lessons made me improve rapid fast. Was able to go on a solo surf alone after just 5 days of lessons.

Excellent value spot with warm, friendly staff who take excellent care of each and every guest. Visit this spot and I highly recommend the learn to surf package. Getting taught how to surf from the legend and owner David and the coach, Alex is an absolute blessing

A special place for tourists, holiday-makers and backpackers looking to explore the Transkei, meet great new people and interact meaningfully with the wildcoast, its landscape and its people. One of a kind. Oh, and road from N2 was in reasonably good condition which was a big plus..

Can really recommend the 5 day surf course package, the teachers are great and I am truly happy with the progress I made and Coffee bay is just an amazing place if you want to learn how to surf. Yummy food, staff is super friendly and helpful, and the nature there is just stunning. Rooms are very basic (we slept in a dorm) but hey - it's a backpackers. Roads have gotten much better compared to a couple of years ago. Hope I can come back soon.

I absolutely loved staying at Coffee Shack!!!|The surf package was fantastic—Dave and Alex helped me build confidence on the waves. I also loved experiencing the local Xhosa culture and going on beautiful hikes with incredible people. The whole experience created unforgettable memories. Highly recommended!

I booked the 7-day surf package and I would do it again anytime! The service, the people on-site, the rooms, the food – absolutely everything was perfect! We were well taken care of and everything was communicated and coordinated with us. From day one we felt truly welcomed. Surfing was an absolute blast, thanks to the amazing surf instructors!

Nice place to stay a few days during your surf trip. The place has everything you need, as a nice restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The owners are super nice as the staff. If you don't surf, there are some little hikings around the hills and the local villages. 💚
