Interesting traditional cuisine that you'll unlikely find elsewhere. Cosy interior decorated with various paraphernalia from all over the world.

I had the venison (deer meat) rice bowl and it was great. For 1200 yen, it had five slices of venison lightly seared topped on a portion of rice and the slices were neither too thin to feel unsubstantial nor too thick to be difficult to chew. I appreciated that seasoning seemed minimal, which meant that one could taste the natural flavors of the venison. I would say I like venison as it has hints of an offal taste and that goes well with the plain rice. I also a vanilla ice-cream with (Ainu?) berries compote and the compote was excellent. The sour and tang of the berries went well with the vanilla and it made for a good change from excessive milky soft serve in Hokkaido. The only feedback I have is that the lady served the ice cream while I was halfway through my rice bowl and that meant I had to pause and finish the ice-cream before continuing with the venison rice bowl. I should have been more clear with my request to have the dessert served later. It was a satisfying lunch!

A bit disappointed with this place. Arrived just after 12 and as it's a small restaurant it was already full. So I had to wait 45 minutes until the first session finished. As I was booked to go to the traditional dance show at 130 I had to pick a quick dish to them to make and me to eat so I had the Amamu venison curry and rice. A bit disappointed in the dish given the reviews. The sikarebe tea was good, served in wooden cup. Would have liked to have more time to enjoy the set meal instead. I think they are a victim of their success unfortunately.

Very cosy and cute restaurant. Stepping through the door feels like stepping into a different world. Food was very interesting. It is a very good introduction to Ainu food. I wish the pizza was available. It is really cool how the main protein sold in restaurants here is deer and pork. I was hoping for wild boar and rabbit too If you need to try a dish with deer, try the deer rice bowl. The orange stuff in my photos are pumpkin mash. I like the local nut used

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The Deer Rice Bento was an absolute delight – the meat was incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. What truly sets this place apart is its culturally immersive environment. I found the quality of food and the overall experience to be exceptional, especially considering the affordability.

Quaint restaurants with limited space, highly decorated with a menu full of ainu specialties. The food was great but portion a bit small for a westerner stomach. Try the pumpkin dumplings. There's also craft beer, not all on the menu, and local teas.

The local Ainu food is delicious and fresh. The deer curry is their most well-known dish, but their other meals are just as delicious. Own and operated by Ainu from the community.
