"The Coffee Pirates was one of the first third wave coffeeshops in Vienna and is still a pioneer when it comes to fresh roasted coffee and sweet delights. It's the perfect spot for a short timeout! We got cold and hot coffee, both were good. The bakery display didn't have much when we were there (hence the 4 stars). This is not our first visit to the cafe and we like the vibe and atmosphere.

Google
Great coffee with a variety of different drinks and flavours. The staff is a bit relaxed and take their time, but are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is chill and welcoming, suitable for a nice conversation or just work or studying. :)

Google

Google
a very stylish and modern specialty coffee shop on the outskirts of Vienna. The espresso is really good, I was just a bit disappointed by the batch brew, it was roasted way too dark. Vegan baked goods available

Google
Great coffee (Ethiopian in the batch brew, not less!) and varied sweet and savory options. Tastefully decorated place, and WiFi available for some laptop work.

Google
The coffee is overpriced, and the waiters that day were not the friendliest. At least, the coffee was good, we ordered two machiattos (one with oat milk, one with regular milk) and it was really well done, but still there are better coffee places to go in Vienna.

Google
My double espresso was only lukewarm 😔 and the price tag for all their coffees was pretty high considering that this is a student frequented coffee shop. A little disappointing.

Yelp
Coffee: 4 Pastry: 4.5 Atmosphere: 4 Coffee: 4 Espresso was decent, although I've had better in Vienna. I was more impressed by the Aeropress Kenya I had--bright and citrusy. Definitely go aeropress here. Pastry: 4.5 I got an apple tort and it was incredible--all the classic apple strudel ingredients organized in a tort with a thin merengue top. It was tasty with a balanced sweetness--but what really pushed it to a 4.5 was that merengue. Good stuff. Atmosphere: 4 Cute, and a great patio. A little difficult to maneuver around, but otherwise seems a great place to study and chat.

Yelp
Delicious vegan chia pudding and equally delicious latte. They have oat milk available too. Lots of seating available--from cozy couches to small tables to long shared tables. Very cool place. Plus they sell the coffee they roast.

Yelp
Such a great atmosphere! Lots of seating and free/fast with. The aroma of roasting coffee also made my time here wonderful.

Yelp
The third wave of coffee has finally hit Austria and Vienna so it is now possible to not only visit a cafe with atmosphere and character but also to get good coffee. Coffee Pirates are one of the places that roast their own beans and they do a pretty good job. I had one of the better coffees of the visit here and it was a Kenyan pour-over. The space is also large and airy. Free wifi and plenty of tables but appears to often be full of students from the nearby university. The service was friendly and they were happy to (also in English after I made some attempts to revive my German) answer questions about the coffee. Pastries and bread are also made there and while I only had a sandwich it was good. They also sell coffee beans and a variety of coffee gear for home use.

Yelp
A real coffee shop in Vienna. One that my snobby US university children enjoy. They roast their own beans in the shop. They make their own baked goods and paninis every day in house. Their baked goods are amazing and vary every time I've visited. I wish I lived closer and could frequent this place more often. I scheduled a meeting here today just for the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere and a flat white once again. There is free wifi. Just ask for the password. Unfortunately there were so many people online that I kept getting bumped off.

Yelp
Hands-down my favorite coffee shop to work out of whenever I am in Vienna. Super good coffee, vegan and gluten-free cake options, chill atmosphere, fast wifi, friendly staff and plenty of tables. Only side note: Parking can be a bit tricky as there's only street parking available.

Yelp
My favorite cafe near my place! I dont drink coffee so I cannot comment on their coffee but they have a good chai latte, some goods to eat. I think they have a really limited options what to eat, they could vary the sandwich options more! Another downside is that even there are 3 people on the back of the kasa it takes quite a while to get the orders! Since I am already used to Viennese slow service, so their service is not that slow that I dont have to take away a star from them! :) They also have a really cool interior design and a really cosy environment, which makes you feel like you sit at home. Take a visit have a coffee there, or a chai!

Yelp
Really well decorated place. Very fresh and modern, nice change for Vienna. The staff here take their time to explain the different methods of making coffee and the beans. Overall very nice experience. Excellent coffee and cakes.

Yelp
The coffee, paninis, and baked goods are all delicious, and the environment is great for studying. (Also, one tip says they are cash only, but they now accept cards.)

Yelp
They receive 4 stars for the lack of pirates in their shop. Don't get me wrong, I love a fedora every now and then. Might have a few locked in my closet underneath my fake Louis Vuitton umbrella. However, there were no pirate hats worn by the staff, and it really shook my experience at its core. However again, the coffee was fantastic. For Vienna, the only place to get coffee (according to a low-traffic cult website) is around the University of Vienna. This is where Coffee Pirates is, and it did not disappoint. It's cash only, and don't ask why. I did, one guy was very unfriendly with his response, the other was too friendly, and I was overwhelmed by the extreme emotions for said question. Anyhow, if you're around the area head there. If not, who cares. I still don't know why it's cash only...

Yelp
Easily the best coffee in Vienna. Inside is a beautiful co-working space, and behind the tills are some fine java wizards. They're super friendly and they make a hell of a latte. The "Pirate's Blend" beans are also a damn delicious way to start a morning off right.

Yelp
Recently I got a question from Friend who is best in Vienna. The answer is Coffee Pirates, period. Owners are genuine and it makes all the difference. They follow global trends and managed to create something really special. Super cool setup with best equipment. Attention to details. Great selection process. I love many things about this place; I do. Could it be better; yes. Almost everything could be improved in my opinion; however, if it stays like this and stop evolving its also good for me. Somehow, I have a feeling that they will continue to evolve in something that wold put them on world map and not only Vienna. Just visit, take barista recommendation and enjoy in the moment - go Pirates!!!

Yelp
Espresso was good but slightly sour, so it was a matter of taste. Location reminds of a well furnished apartment, very cosy.

Yelp
Best coffee in Vienna!! The staff were super friendly and happy to chat. If you're into coffee, I recommend!

Yelp
Excellent coffee roasted on the premises. The chai latte is also amazing. I had two of them! The staff is friendly and competent. Only downside is that the sitting area was filled with smoke from the roasting operation.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the few cafes in Vienna that actually know how to do a good cappuccino. Milk gently frothed to a thick milk, and poured to give coffee art in the creme. Sitting area outside is good in comparison to other Viennese cafes but like most places here there are always people smoking. Pricing is quite reasonable. Would be a perfect cafe if the also made Eggs Benedict. Have been many times will come back.

Yelp
Delicious coffee bar in Wien! Excellent service, cute decor and reasonable prices make this place a must stop.

Yelp
One of the best and most cozy places to have excellent coffee and during weekends brunch. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. It helps me go through even the worst of days.

Gmenem ..

Yelp
Get a double cappuccino there, probably the best I've had in Vienna. Reasonably priced and has a good vibe

Louie M.

Yelp
Slightly overpriced and pretty pretentious in comparison to other coffee shops in the neighborhood. I only tend to go here when I'm in a furious rush and can't make it to Alser Straße. Sandwiches are good but the coffee is a bit bland and requires more shots to milk ratio for any flavor.

Yelp
Both me and my boyfriend are passionate fans of both hats and coffee. And milk. So when he was visiting, I thought, what better place could there be as Coffee Pirates where magic is more than what lizard people use to conceal themselves among us. But this visit was different than every one I have experienced before. As usually we got our sparkly coffees at the counter and took a seat on the chairs hanging from the ceiling. Sometimes it can get upsetting that your coffee is splattering down on the floor from the upside turned cups but that doesn't matter much. At least it's cool. Jaden Smith approves. It took us by surprise though when suddenly a well-known face sat up next to us, the luscious locks smelling of coconut-lavender-shampoo. He was holding a ukulele. It was a green ukulele. Tommy Wiseau winked at us, laughed his famous laugh and asked "Ukulele time?" Indeed it was ukulele time. Just after four. It took us by surprise though that he, as soon as we approved, jumped down and ran out, tears on his face. What a passionate man. I liked the hats although they weren't very fluffy. I excuse to the waitress whose hat I touched for a couple of minutes to find out if it really wasn't fluffy. Sometimes fluffiness is more of an after effect. The coffee and especially the Chai Tea were very good before they splattered down on the heads of the people sitting below us.
