Best tasting food around! The service was above and beyond, a must try if you are visiting town or are already local. Excellent service from Isabelle, and the chefs prepared all the meals perfectly. Couldn’t have asked for a better time and well worth the price for the quality and ambiance. Thank you so much staff of Coho! Also special thanks to chef Elita!❤️

What a gem! Staff was able to accommodate us in the garden outside. The timing of drinks and small plate delivery was super professional. The carrot hummus was an unexpected favorite at the table, pickled beets a close second. Also recommend the pork belly - it focuses on the savory side, unlike the overly sweet versions I’ve had at other restaurants. If you’ve time to dine out for just one meal on SJI, it should be at Coho.

I am supportive of the farm to table food movement and appreciate the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant. I was looking forward to experiencing a great meal of northern WA produce and meats. Given the wonderful reviews from other diners, we must have been at Coho on an off night (August 3, 2022). The four course prix fixe meal took 2+ hours, mainly due to the slow pace of the wait staff. It seemed like everyone employed there moved in slow motion. The food was delicious but they were out of several dishes, including the only vegetarian entree on the menu. With such a limited menu, it seemed odd that the kitchen would run out of any item, but then again we did have one of the later reservations at 8pm. I thought charging $8 for 5 slices of bread and a tiny pat of butter was unexpected considering Coho isn't _that_ special to warrant such high prices. Also, the cioppino was bland compared to San Francisco standards, but the seafood was fresh. The service was not impressive. My daughter ordered a chardonnay but received a rose, and it was maybe 2.5 ounces not the full 5 ounce pour that is industry standard. Plates were served to the wrong people at our table of 4, and this happened repeatedly. The restaurant was not busy so it shouldn't be hard to remember what we each ordered. We were constantly asking (begging) for our waters to be refilled. Pursuit of hydration became the theme of the evening. The waitress would serve the course and come back in one minute to ask how things were, then we wouldn't see her for 15-20 minutes. It was as if the wait staff were subbing or filling in, and didn't fully grasp the entirety of their job. If you do decide to dine at Coho, I suggest you ask that a water carafe (or 2 or 3) be placed at your table, and if you lean vegan/vegetarian call ahead to ask what vegan or vegetarian options are available in the kitchen (not just what is listed on the menu). If the cocktails aren't to your liking, don't hesitate to mention it. And check your bill carefully. We were charged $85 each for all 4 prix fixe meals, even though our daughter ordered the vegetarian options ($75) - I wish I'd caught that before I paid the bill.

Delicious and highly recommend catering events with Coho. We catered three events over our wedding weekend with Coho and it was totally worth it. The food, service, staff, and ease of planning were top-notch and the pricing was extremely reasonable. It was an absolute breath of fresh air to work with Anna Maria throughout the entire process. We also appreciated the creativeness of the dishes and the personal touches. Several times we saw the chef out picking flowers for the plates!

Food was amazing, staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The chefs are doing a fabulous job. 6 course testing menu was absolutely delicious and even the drinks featured local sourced ingredients like lavender and locally distilled gin. Highly recommend.

So it's a very charming restaurant with a very nice waitress. The food however is very bland. Tasteless, respectively. I thought maybe they had something other than Mexican food since Coho with what appears to be a Salmon as shown. I asked for more of the rice & was told the cook burnt it & she would bring me more when it was finished cooking. Never seen anymore rice. Also I got the Grapefruit Tequila the saddest portion of alcohol I've ever purchased. Maybe 2-3 oz of fluid maybe 1 shot of tequila and the rest grapefruit. $15 for a very small drink. It tasted like grapefruit juice. I was very disappointed with ratio to juice & tequila. I don't usually drink & it was a special occasion just to drink grapefruit juice you can clearly see the small serving size. $15 is a lot of money for the horrible quality of beverage. Coho was very busy with reservations only or you get lucky and score outside seating. The place is very quaint in appearance but the food without the side garnishments provided I wouldn't even taste the food. First time on San Juan Island & not sure I feel so welcomed with the no parking signs placed everywhere near Friday Harbor. I get maybe it's tourist season but, tourists visiting shouldn't feel unwelcome or pushed outdoors. The staff was nice & seemed overwhelmed tonight. Only pop-up menus? But there is a Coho menu & that was never provided by staff.

We stayed in the apartment above the Coho Resturant. Cute and clean as well as being a perfect location in Friday Harbor to stay. Although we didn't try the food, the smell from the kitchen was amazing! We stayed ado busy on the Island we missed out...next time.

We dined here for dinner with reservations at 5:45 and had the first service pre-fix. The food was good. The service was not so much. I think we just had the wrong wait staff, as the other waitress knew her stuff, was friendly and personable, offered optional “upgrades” to the menu. But our waitress did not. She rushed us in, at first told us we were too late for the first seating and when I told her I requested it on the reservation she said ok. She didn’t tell us of any of the options to upgrade portions of the meal. We weren’t offered any wine- which seemed weird since this is a wine restaurant, and therefore we didn’t order any. The soup was nice, it was kale and bean and it had very fresh veggies in it. The salad was not a salad. It was exactly four pieces of lettuce- I call that a garnish. The lamb bolognese was good and there was a decent portion of it. The dessert was just a scoop of ice cream, though we overheard the other waitress saying for $2 more we could opt up for a full dessert. We didn’t because it wasn’t offered to us. My biggest disappointment was that this place is labeled a “seafood restaurant “. There were two items on the menu that were seafood- Spanish octopus as a starter and the market fish which was halibut. If you are a seafood restaurant have seafood available! Also all the advertising showed wonderful images of grilled salmon, which is what we were looking for, but there wasn’t any. I think the restaurant is misleading and expensive. There are better value for the money places to eat in Friday Harbor like Downriggers and Tops’l, both of which have plenty of seafood on there menus.

Yelp
I had zero intention of eating here tonight; I'm vegetarian and I don't eat seafood. But man, am I glad I came! Funny enough, I showed up because Tenth House next door was closed for remodeling. It was half an hour before Coho shut down for the night and I was hungry, so I stopped in to see if they had salads. Tonight happened to be a pop-up Izakaya night I wasn't previously aware of. The entire menu was Japanese-inspired. I ordered the vegetarian ramen with mushrooms that the chef was kind enough to make without sesame, since I have an allergy. I asked for a random, on-the-spot-invented drink and the bartender delivered. It was such a good drink! The waitstaff was very kind to me and checked on me frequently. I felt valued and seen, which as a woman of color matters a lot--especially at an upscale restaurant. I'm docking a star only because the ramen itself was very bland. In their quest to honor my allergy needs, they left out any sauces and seasoning to the noodles. The vegetables were excellent, but there are ways to fulfill seasoning requests while honoring allergy restrictions.

Yelp
We were in Friday Harbor and were lucky enough to find the Coho Restaurant. It is kind of a small place, so it pays to get reservations if it is a busy time. The interior has a very homey and comfortable feel. Service was excellent throughout the meal. Water came right away and we were able to order a bottle of wine quickly. The wine selection is nice. For starters, we had the heirloom tomato caprese. It was excellent. They advertise as farm to table, and you could taste the freshness of the tomatoes and the local mozzarella was really tasty. For the main, I had the lamb gnocchi. This was outstanding, the gnocchi was just perfect with a really good flavor. Then the lamb was really good also. It was cooked well and was such a good complement to the gnocchi, an inspired pairing. My friend had the farmers risotto. She loved it. I tasted it and thought it was great also. We were too full for dessert. The Coho Restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
We were very disappointed with our dining experience here. The staff was very nice but they couldn't overcome the lack of training and the distasteful food. Our server was lovely but there were many strange things about the service besides being slow to get to initially greet us. So it took forever for her to come to our table. We ordered the four course prix fixe dinner. Each course was placed on top of our "bread" dishes. Very odd. Those dishes should have been moved to the side or removed from the table altogether. Our silverware was never replaced, as it should have been for each of the four courses. But what really disappointed though, was the food. It is sad when the best thing was the initial amuse bouche - cucumber with a beet hummus. For my starter I ordered the tomato soup. It was completely unremarkable. Hubby had the Coho salad. It was supposed to have pickled red onion on it but did not. The server told us they had run out but then the chef came out with some and make it pretty clear that they had forgotten to put it on the salad. We had some with our last few bites and it really balanced the dish out! For the next course I ordered the chickpea fritters and hubby the crabcakes. But then, we were told that they had run out of the crabcakes so he had to choose something else. There wasn't much to choose from. Just a caprese salad or pork belly. Since we don't eat pork, that left the caprese salad and he had just had a salad. We ended up splitting so he wasn't stuck. The caprese salad wasn't great. The tomatoes needed to be riper and the mozzarella a better quality. The worst though was yet to come. Hubby had the halibut which was overcooked so that lovely sweet flavor was obliterated. Mine was really bad. I had the seafood tagliatelle. It had so many conflicting flavors I really couldn't eat it. There was an over powering amount of tarragon with large pieces of citrus (I think blood orange) with the rind still on it. This was very bitter. Then there were large slices of leek that were barely cooked. Those were inedible. Our desserts were fine - ice cream sundaes. Really hard to mess that up. We had been so anticipating the meal. Usually a prix fixe tasting never disappoints but this one wasn't worth the money at all. Final note. When I called to confirm our reservation, I asked what the dress code was. I was told that it was semi-formal. It isn't. I would say smart casual is the dress code.

Yelp
Excellent food and service, truly exceptional!! We had soup, halibut, desserts and coffee and they were all wonderful!

Yelp
We have dined here twice now and the food is absolutely to die for. The last time we were here, we had been at the farmer's market literally around the corner earlier in the day and could swear we recognized the veggies on our plate from the market, haha. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Service was great. The "first seating" deal they offer has got to be the best thing on the island, and we will return for that every time we're in town. Can't wait until next time!

Jane K.

Yelp
Nice restaurant but has a few things to improve. Food was good and well prepared. Portion sizes were very small for the price. Be prepared to order starters etc plus entree to have a good experience. Desserts were very disappointing.

Brian S.

Yelp
Would have appreciated some notice that they had a SEVERELY limited menu. They didn't have this on the website nor did the hostess mention it when we arrived. Very disappointing.

Monica N.

Yelp
Definitely the best restaurant we tried on San Juan Island! There's limited indoor seating so make reservations - but it's worth it for all the fresh farm-to-table food. We came at 5pm for first seating, where they have a deal of 2 for $70. Comes with soup & salad, an entree and ice cream, so pretty good deal - but we didn't realize that some entrees would cost extra, so wish that part was made more clear rather than just adding the additional cost to the bill. The soup was clearly made with very fresh tomatoes, and had a nice spicy kick. The greens and veggies in all the dishes were incredibly fresh and matched well with each dish to highlight the protein. Duck was cooked a bit more well done but very tender. The halibut was delicious, large tender flakes with a pesto sauce and was a light but flavorful dish. The hangar steak was pretty good for being a hangar steak - cooked exactly rare as requested. The ice cream was also locally made and pretty unique flavors. Would definitely recommend coming here for a delicious dining experience!

Ashley S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food. We did the 5 course tasting menu and every dish exceeded expectations. The wine that was paired with it was also great and perfect with the food. Would definitely come back again when we're in town.

Robin K.

Yelp
Lovely small, intimate space with phenomenal food! I have never been disappointed here. They are always creating the most interesting dishes with unusual ingredients. I love how they explain the sourcing of their ingredients as they serve you the most elegant plates of food I've experienced on the island. We went for their special Valentine's Day 6 course menu. Our server, Stephanie, was an absolute delight! And the food was outta of this world! Thank you Coho for a very memorable, completely delightful evening! Bravo!

Carey H.

Yelp
Open room with so many tables you have to construct a plan to leave your table. Service was poor, as we were waiting to place our order they served us someone else's order then the brought it to the correct table, this was going on around the room. Last but not least, the food, we ordered 4 different dishes, the shrimp was good, the crawfish was not worth ordering, the Mac and cheese so bland I don't think there was cheese, and the spicy chicken was so so. Save you time/money, choose another restaurant.

Yelp
We had our wedding reception here due to their affiliation with Tucker House Inn, where our ceremony took place. The restaurant is a couple blocks away from the inn in a cute little house. We gave them placecards, a seating chart, and entree orders in advance and they coordinated all of that flawlessly. With COVID restrictions, one of our tables had to be seated on the patio. They opened up the doors and window to make it seem less like they were separated, but it wasn't as seamless as we'd hoped. It was also unseasonably warm out! They were roasting out there, but it was also quite warm inside the restaurant and my husband and I were sweating for the latter half of the meal. For drinks, we settled on a specific budget and offered people either beer, wine (a white, red, or rose), or lavender margaritas for alcohol and then wine or iced tea for non-alcohol. It was supposed to be a cash bar if you wanted something other than what I listed, but we ended up being charged for old fashions that a guest ordered. Oh well! Also, the lavender margarita was unimpressive and did not taste like lavender at all. We really wanted to incorporate elements of Texas (where we're from, big margarita state!) and the San Juan's (lavender), but it wasn't executed as well as I would have liked. We almost perfectly estimated how much we'd need for alcohol and did not end up going over our budget, which was appreciated. That equaled out to about 2-3 drinks per person, which I think everyone was satisfied with over the course of a 3 hour long dinner. The waitstaff was quick to offer your refills when you needed it. The food was perfectly coordinated to last exactly 3 hours. We had a 7 course meal, which included a shrimp/crab cake amuse, salmon tartine, chilled pea soup with a scallop, asparagus and chard with ricotta and cured egg yolk, duck tortellini, steak with a potato cake or fin fish with goat cheese risotto, and mini desserts with chocolate soufflé, apple crisp, and pecan pie a la mode. Having good food at our wedding was a priority, and Coho definitely delivered! Everything was incredibly tasty and filling. The menu was seasonally inspired and farm to table, which was fun. We had our photographer take photos back in the kitchen, so once we get those back I'll add them to my review. The last hour of our allotted time was dedicated to dessert and speeches. It's a small enough space that we did not need a PA system. It was a very intimate and lovely reception that we were quite happy with!

Yelp
Ate here this past weekend. I'm giving it a 3 just due to the pretty evening. We sat by a window and had a nice breeze. Thank goodness they didn't sit us by the restroom. Might I suggest a screen or something in front of that bathroom door? Goodness. Felt bad for the folks sitting right next to it. We were clear that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary when we made reservations and my husband mentioned it when we sat down but they did not acknowledge it in any way. We were not looking for anything free but a "happy anniversary" would have been nice. The food was average. We were not really too impressed - the masa cake was probably the best thing I ate. We had the 4 course meal. Told the server we would probably order wine with dinner after cocktails but he never offered it or suggested anything. Our waters were never filled once. One server took my husbands drink away and we had to ask for it back (he got the three whiskey flight). They brought back another shot of whiskey with no apology or anything. My husband had the beef duo and I had the halibut. He liked his dish, my halibut was ok. The crust was flavorful but otherwise flavorless if you did not get any crust with the bite. I think it was due to not much beet sauce. There was 1 potato fingerling. ONE. The dish was $36. All in all, I am not sure what the hype is. The ambience is nice as Ling as you don't have to sit next to bathroom. Very intimate but service was lackluster. We did ask about a military discount as we are both veterans and they did give us that so that was nice - again another reason for the 3 stars. We tipped 20% on the original bill just due to pandemic times and I don't want to take it out on the work servers put in but I think they could really train on their service levels. I don't feel we should have to ask for water, and suggestions for wine in a 4 star restaurant and usually I will spend less as the evening continues if service levels are not there. The ricotta cheesecake and orange cake were both unremarkable.

Laura S.

Yelp
A true gourmet experience! Small dining room, personalized service, but the highlight, as it should be, is the delicious food. The tasting menu has plenty of interesting choices. Of particular note was the octopus, masa cake with rabbit, and beef duo. Highly skilled chef! Not afraid of flavors. Desserts, unfortunately, somewhat lackluster. A wonderful place to spend a special occasion anniversary dinner.

Pamela H.

Yelp
This is a very nice restaurant. We went there for our last dinner on Friday Harbor. It took a bit for them to come to table and we ordered cocktails. They do serve alcohol but only certain spirits, no vodka. We didn't know this and ordered our usual. What we got was a margarita and a tequila with pomegranate soda. . Of course being the lushes that we are we drank them just the same. We shared a salad and the halibut. The fish was cooked perfectly and delish. We enjoyed it very much. So my question is always this, would I go back? Maybe. Now that I know a bit more, I would try it again and then decide. Now that you know this too, I would encourage you to give it a try and then write your review.

Lotus R.

Yelp
This place is a rip off. Great ambiance. But food is unreasonably prized for what they served. For example, we spent $28 for "saag paneer" without any paneer. We did not expect it to be authentic. But, few pieces of spinach and it was $28. Likewise, steelhead was $38. It had a bit of fishy smell. So, not fresh although it is on an island.

Pardis G.

Yelp
I never write reviews but hope to save someone else the $$. Wow, this place was seriously one of the worst meals I've ever had. Frequent visitor of FH. Visited Coho for first time on Memorial Day weekend with our friends. Portions are small and the food is poor quality. Very disappointed! Had to stop at Blue Water for another meal afterwards.

Vik B.

Yelp
This place was super disappointing. Every dish that we tried was either bland or not tasty. The only saving grace was the service which was good.

A B.

Yelp
Awesome. Had the chefs menu and every course was special. Standouts in my experience were 1) Rabbit, 2) Lamb Bolognese, 3) Halibut (market fish du jour), 4) Capellini, and 5) Asparagus. Each worth coming in for individually but having them presented together in one sitting was incredible. The staff was excellent. Attentive and clearly passionate about the food they serve. Allison is a hoot and we got a chance to meet the chef who prepared the meal. I will travel back to and through Friday Harbor specifically to dine at Coho. Awesome.

steve b.

Yelp
Magnificent. Well curated menu and drinks. Very ambitious theme menus, that never disappoint. Lovely cozy space, with attentive and kindly staff.

Jen And Patrick K.

Yelp
There are a lot of great dining options in Friday Harbor, but there are none superior to Coho Restaurant. Coho Restaurant offers a very intimate and private dining experience with only a few tables. It is highly recommended that you make reservations. I've dined both as a small table during regular dinner service, as well as hosting a private party of 25. The service and food were consistent through both these dining experiences. The service is exceptional and very focused. Very passionate and attentive staff. Coho Restaurant is the epitome of "Casual" Fine Dining. The food is delicious. Excellently prepared local, sustainable, Pacific Northwest cuisine. Salmon, medium-rare, like it's supposed to be! The San Juan Islands are a special place to my wife and I. We were married at Roche Harbor in May 2018. There will be many trips back to San Juan Island, and Coho Restaurant will always be a favorite.

Eduardp L.

Yelp
Service was awful. Food quality and flavor were good but selection short and availability was problematic- all because we were pushed out later through NL faultless of our own. They moved us by mistake and by the time we sat down they were out of several items. Desserts were only vanIlla and chocolate ice cream. Plus the server was very unsympathetic and distant, with no energy to make the experience pleasant. A clear example of the experience being as important as the food.

Beverly J.

Yelp
Loved their 4 course meal paired with wine tasting. A little pricey but quality is worth it.

Annaliese M.

Yelp
My friend had her wedding reception dinner here, and the food was incredible! We had a seven-course meal (including a shrimp/crab cake amuse, a salmon tartine, a chilled pea soup with a scallop, asparagus and chard with ricotta cheese and cured egg yolk, duck tortellini, steak with a little potato cake, and a three-part dessert with a chocolate soufflé, apple crumble, and mini peanut pies), and I loved every course. The wine was lovely as well (chardonnay and rose). The staff was very friendly as well. I highly recommend!

Lan C.

Yelp
Stop reading all the reviews, make a reservation NOW! My husband and I went here last night and I was blown away. Hands down one of the best meals and will come back to Friday Harbor just to dine here again. We did chef's choice with 5 courses and added an extra Kimchi Mussel. One of the beat steamed mussels and halibut dishes I've ever had. Halibut was well seasoned and tender. my husband got the pork loin as entree and was worth dying for. Ah, and the dessert with grilled peach was so unique and delicious!

Aaron W.

Yelp
I love good restaurants and this is really hard for me to rate them this way. Portions were way too small for what was charged. It took forever for our meals to be served, the dessert was delicious, but absolutely way overpriced for what was delivered. They told us that it was a brand new chef and that may have been part of it, but it is a very small restaurant and you would think that they would have been on point. We left and went to another restaurant to get more food.....

Tani M.

Yelp
First I want to say that putting a table by the restroom is always and I mean always a bad idea. Second I've been incredibly ill since eating there. I had the seafood dish and my husband had the halibut. Thank goodness he didn't eat my dish or we would both be sick.

James H.

Yelp
Had the chefs tasting special. $70 for 2 3-course meals and a bottle of wine. we both got a one-bite app, a soup and salad and ice cream for dessert. For the entree portion i opted for the salmon. Small space, reservations will be required.

Steve C.

Yelp
Make a reservation! We heard this was a top pic in the area & arrived @ 5p on a Thursday & the restaurant was sold out for the night. It must be good to have such a strong following. If we come back to the island we will make a reservation in advance

Chris C.

Yelp
The food is good IF they happen to feel like honoring your reservation or letting you order takeout as promised. However, we won't bother again. Why not? In short, they managed to ruin plans for TWO different birthday celebrations in our family in the past 2 years. On a third occasion -- our anniversary -- they actually allowed us to eat (with a reservation) and that experience was merely OK. Here's what happened. Event 1: birthday for my wife. We made a reservation well in advance. Yet a couple of days before, they called to cancel it in order to serve a wedding party that wanted the whole restaurant. It was too late to get reservations at our other preferred restaurant. Lesson 1: they will give your reservation to anyone with more money. Event 2: our anniversary. They honored our reservation (on a Sunday) and dinner was excellent. Well, it WAS excellent until they seated another group next to us with EXTREMELY strong cologne and perfume. That rendered our $160 bottle of wine useless and made dessert tasteless. They should have seated those folks farther away (the restaurant was not busy) or outside. Lesson 2: they don't care about your experience or whether you actually enjoy their food and wine. Event 3: our daughter's birthday. She was excited for her BF to have such fancy food and prix fixe for the first time. This was during Covid times and they offered takeout, so we called the day before to ensure that they would be able to do prix fixe takeouts for 4 people on the following day. They said sure, no problem, just call tomorrow. However, when we called the next day, they said they were too busy and wouldn't do takeout! I noted that they had agreed the day before, but they didn't care. Lesson 3: they don't care what they've told you (see Lesson 1). Bottom line: they might serve you ... unless someone with more money wants service, or unless they feel too busy. And if they do, the food might be good (based on 1 out of 3 attempts), yet you will be at the mercy of their tiny dining room and other guests. Recommendation: they should honor their reservations, or at least give folks an apology when you let them down. Personally, we won't try again.

Yelp
AMAZING! Anna Maria and staff are simply wonderful. My husband and I chose to have our wedding luncheon at Coho with about 30 people. From the get go, Anna Maria was incredibly communicative and knowledgeable. Since we live in Seattle, we had to coordinate almost everything remotely, but that was not an issue at all. Coho is dedicated to in season, locally sourced food and their knowledge of cuisine and artistry really shines through. As a bride, I felt a bit stressed when thinking about planning a luncheon, but Anna Maria guided me through it beautifully, pointing out things and asking questions about stuff I would have completely missed. The day of our luncheon was fabulous as well. All her staff and servers were absolute professionals and the lunch was to die for. They graciously accommodate several of our guests food allergies and preferences, going so far as to make sure that my mother in law had a gluten free, egg and dairy free cake that was similar to the wedding cake so that she wouldn't feel like she was missing out. She made an INCREDIBLE wedding cake with fresh flowers that all my guests are still talking about months later. Coho will become our spot to go back and celebrate our anniversary for years to come. Thank you so much Anna Maria and staff!

Alicia Z.

Yelp
The best meal we had in Friday Harbor. Thoughtful and delicious menu that goes beyond your touristy meals in town. Delicious cocktails and tasty meals. The staff did a great job being COVID compliant. If your a foodie tourist, just go here.

Dana N.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I usually live this restaurant. Food and service are usually excellent. But not tonight. Took over 20 minutes to get our drinks. Back in my day, they would have been comp'd. Not the case. After we finished our meal, our server asked if we would like dessert. I said yes, a sundae and another couple drinks. She said great! Five minutes later, she came back and said the kitchen and bar were closed and they were taking no more orders. It was 8:21 pm. I get you gotta close but let the people you already have finish their experience! It will be a minute before I go back.

Diane P.

Yelp
Had a reservation for a Tuesday evening. We were seated at a table that was literally 18 inches from the bathroom door . If the person leaving the bathroom left the door open one of us would be looking at the toilet. There were other empty tables so we asked to be moved. A few minutes later the hostess returned and said we could not move to one of the empty tables so we left. Not interested in spending a couple hundred dollars on dinner when the view is the toilet.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a summer Friday (yes I know... posting this review a little late) and had a wonderful meal. We loved the staff and our food. To start, my mom had what was essentially a lavendar kir royale with lavendar liquor from Palendabra farm and champagne. Then we all split one of their special salads which had figs, toasted almonds, and arugula. The dressing was light and fresh. My boyfriend chose to have the Spanish Octopus appetizer ($15) for his main course. This grilled octopus was perfectly cooked; tender but which a slight char from the grill. The romesco, aioli, crispy potatoes, and pickled carrots were delicious accompaniments. We all loved it and I highly recommend people trying it. My dad ordered the duck confit ($34) which was served with stone fruit. It was very well executed with flavorful meat and bright, flavorful sides. I ordered the quinoa & farro paella ($28) which had a delicious al dente mouthfeel and was served with fresh summer squash, corn, tomato, heirloom beans, and a perfect soft boiled egg. I enjoyed it a lot. My mom had the market fish and it was perfectly prepared. For dessert, we got their last slice of blackberry cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and a valencia orange cake. I liked the chocolate mousse best, but my mom and boyfriend both liked the orange cake. Our service was super friendly and as you can tell we loved all of our food. We almost considered come back to this restaurant for a second meal during our long weekend, and I think it would have been a good choice. The only better meal we had was at Duck Soup. Highly recommend that people come here!

Yelp
they were not open on Tuesday during regular business hours. Maybe due to understaffing?

Yelp
I would love to give this restaurant a higher rating. I am a foodie and felt that the wine for archipelago was great, the food was a bit light on portion (still hungry) and a bit daring for my taste (chicken feet. . .). One of my husband and myself favorite things to do when we go on vacation is to find good restaurants. We had our whole trip booked and my husband's 45th birthday we were schedule to eat at Duck Soup. But, the head chef of Coho, Samantha Dechristopher, offered to come and cook for us on his birthday. We gave her some money in advanced and kept in touch via text. The day of his birthday she said she would be there around 7:30 PM. We text with her throughout the day joking with the family that she might not show, but immediately saying no one would do that to someone on their birthday. 8:00 PM rolled around and she text us that she was running late, our reservation at Duck Soup was at 8:00 PM so we were now committed to this new plan of Samantha Dechristopher making birthday dinner. She texted at 9:56 PM she said she was still stuck at the restaurant "for a hot minute" (the restaurant is not open on Sundays) At 11:00 PM when we sent a text to her saying Are you not coming? She had shut her phone off. Our elderly parents and party of eight went to bed hungry. My husband did not get a birthday dinner/dessert. On San Juan Island everything closes by 9:00 PM, there is not a single grocery store or gas station etc to get food. Coho's head chef, Samantha Dechristopher is a flake and if I owned the restaurant I would not continue to employee someone who treats clients so unprofessionally.

Yelp
Overall - meh. Food was bland, cocktails were generic and definitely not worth the price.

Yelp
Everything about this place was perfect. The cozy atmosphere, the aroma, our friendly and funny server. The food was unbelievable. As a vegetarian it's not hard for me to get a good meal, but it is hard for me to find something new an inventive. Coho really impressed me with the Panisse, there was so much depth of texture and flavor. Everything was really fresh and delicious.

Yelp
The food was average. Not meeting expectations. The concept is good and fresh/seasonal ingredients are used. The atmosphere is nice too. Great service.

Yelp
Went there for Valentine's Day and they had a lovely set up and menu! They even gave us flowers and cookies to go. Very thoughtful restaurant with an owner who obviously cares! The food was good but I missed out on the delicious looking pasta course because they don't offer gluten free pasta. I really wish they would, especially for those of us who are not gluten free by choice. Either way, I will return again. PS. Leave the kids and infants at home. This is a small space and for adults, so please don't ruin it for others.

Yelp
The service and food were both beyond our expectations. The server was knowledgeable and made sure to accommodate our requests. Wonderful experience, highly recommend.

Yelp
SUCKED! I had great, great hopes for this restaurant. They have maybe 10 tables. Made reservations the day before we planned to eat there, and got 7:15 reso's for 3. We were on time, seated promptly, and given.....water. Ordered wine....and the offerings by the glass were excellent...they were out of my first choice however, which never bodes well. I ordered the scallop appetizer. It showed up in 15 minutes.....two acceptably seared scallops with not enough bacon/mushrooms to compliment the flavors...strike one. We had to ask for bread multiple times....strike two....the slices kept getting thinner by the third basket of bread(about 8 pieces) the slices were more like crackers than pieces of bread. It took OVER an hour to get our entrees...strike three.....my mother ordered the vegetarian stuffed peppers, and promptly pronounced them tasteless. SWMBO, ordered the Jidori Chik'n and loved it..... I got the King Salmon.....it was overcooked.....that is a crime against all that is Holy. The carrots were good/great...there were two slices. I sub'd the mashed potatoes because the dish came with pasta and I cannot eat it. There was a bed of chopped/slimy/under seasoned zucchini....I left it on the plate. We did not have dessert, which they tout as made in house....walked down the street for ice cream on the waterfront. Coho has a HUGE page in the local Yellow Pages, and it caught my eye, and for that, there is MASSIVE discontent.....the best thing that could happen to this restaurant is to go out of business so the chef can take it somewhere else, and work on his craft, which is sorely in need of it. This place is expensive, pretentious and vastly in need of SOMEONE who can do a good job....the space itself is just fine, and could really be awesome given the right opportunity.

Yelp
Three of us, all locals, went to Coho Sunday. evening for dinner. I've been going since it opened but I'm not going back. I understand how difficult it is to get capable wait staff but the service was below average by any measure. The entree was adequate but the final straw was when we asked for bread and the waitress said it would be an addition cost of $5. Over the years they have increased prices regularly so it has gotten too expensive for me. I did not see any locals there Sunday evening and I'm not surprised. I'll turn it over to the tourist. Yelp
It is amazing service. The food is so great. I recommend it to everyone who visit San Juan Island. The wine is also good. Best of all, no matter how busy the restaurant is, the waitress makes you feel like you are the only customer. Great service at its best!

Yelp
Great restaurant and good service. We didn't expect much but we were wow by the food! we had the king salmon special and pan seared halibut both were excellent! Will definitely return on the next visit!

Yelp
We had been hoping to get into this restaurant especially because of the wide raving reviews. Unfortunately our experience confirms several others. Food was uninspired, warm and small portioned. Wine selection by the glass very limited and what's up with corkage fee of $35? We also were seated by the restroom door, tho fortunately until we were at the end of the meal wasn't a problem. We thought we'd save the experience by ordering the chocolate soufflé. Disappointing. Overall I won't go back. Better places elsewhere

Yelp
I do not recommend. After dining for a week in the San Juans .... this was my least favorite dining experience. If you are in Friday Harbor- Downriggers is more flavorful. Better yet, go to Orcas Island & eat at the exquisite Inn at Ship Bay where they really know how to do a tasting menu. The Duck Soup Inn has a cozy atmosphere & much better staff & food. Rosario Mansion has mixed reviews online, however, in person the service was excellent & food was flavorful & well portioned. The good: quiet & cozy atmosphere. Apple Crisp with Ice Cream. Valencia Orange Cake. A lovely Oregon selection of wine. The bad: 1)a prix fixe menu that has smaller portions of the first two courses [ the staff informed me ] " so you don't get overfull..." But cost more than if I had ordered each course a la carte. I am not that price sensitive when fine dining [ reference the exquisite chef's tasting I had earlier in the week. ] but ( scratching my head here ) I can add... and I paid more prix fixe...than if I had ordered the ten olives, four tortellini, and two cubes of steak, followed by orange cake each separately. 2) the flavors Olives with some kind of meat were warm as indicated on the menu. Not flavorful. Tortellini were " herbed " in a watery liquid with little flavor & undercooked cubes of (? Root vegetables (?) Beef tenderloin: 1/5 gristle. Not tender [really needed that serrated knife!] Leaf lettuce "purse" with tiny mushrooms was a creative presentation... but again, lacking flavor. Beef portion was 1/2 a deck of card size divided in two 1"x1" cubes. After removing the gristle...hardly a meal. Dessert was redeeming in the flavor department. However, even there, the apple crisp was overloaded with cinnamon. the ugly: " Nathan" was at the desk when we arrived and was downright unpleasant in greeting us. Despite having received a text message confirming our reservation an hour prior saying we were due in the restaurant in an hour... upon arrival we were greeted extremely condescendingly by Nathan who was very rude. He said he had no reservation for us. When I said I called in and received a confirmation text, he demanded: " well who did you talk to?". I had not taken down the women's name and said so, but reiterated that we had received phone confirmation. After being made to feel thoroughly unwelcome... he conceded there was an open table... so they would accommodate us. A lovely woman with pink hair tried admirably to serve us & asked for our name and phone number again " to make sure we got in their system." [ ? We got a text an hour ago... but Ok, thank you for trying to repair the rude first impression] She was an attentive server [ *thank you] unfortunately -given the rude greeting, strange pricing, bland food and scant portions -the experience was a miss. I left hungry, bolstered only by the Oregon wine & dessert.
