The Best Things to Do in Panama: Surfing, Coffee Tastings, and Private Island Stays
"A paradise for divers and nature enthusiasts with wildlife-rich islands, diverse aquatic life, and endemic species. Known for its isolated location that shelters it from the effects of El Niño."
Real paradise! Highlight of our trip through Panama. We also really enjoyed Santa Catalina

Diving here is amazing! You’ll see tons of white tip sharks and if you’re lucky even bull sharks as well. One of the most stunning places I dove

Definitely the highlight of our trip to Panama. It's not easy to get there, but it's worth it.

Beautiful island, one hour from mainland, lush greenery, and reach underwater life. Went snorkeling, lots of sharks, turtles, fish and corals. Well worth it.

Coiba is an isolated island off the Pacific coast of Panama accessible from Santa Catalina. Until relatively recently (2004 I think) it served as a penal colony-the devils island of Panama. It separated from the mainland about the same time the Galápagos Islands did and has some species of wildlife that can be found nowhere else. All of the island is virtually unexplored except a small beach that serves as the research center.

Expensive day tour but the snorkeling is awesome, if you have the money I'd recommend spending time on the island to properly explore rather than in a restricted day tour.
