Cold River

We had the best stay at cold river!! Lovely owners, great location, clean and nice rooms. And the absolutely best part was the breakfast, which was included for us. It’s a very quiet and nice area with a super nice front yard. We were scammed at the first hotel we checked in at, and you can be confident it won’t happen here. Can absolutely recommend staying at this lovely hotel.

Nice place with a lovely river view, tucked down a quiet street and in great location for walking to everything in Luang Prabang! Hotel offers a nice breakfast and free water in filtered fountains throughout the hotel. However, the rooms felt like they needed some TLC though. The aircon didn't work on heat setting so we were sometimes cold and other bits were just a bit inconvenient such as broken locks and lightbulbs in the room, and the toilet missing some screws in the base which let a sewage smell into the room. From expedia it was not clear our standard double balcony room came with a wet room instead of a bathroom which was a bit annoying as once showered we got wet feet every time we needed to use the bathroom!

I stayed here for one night, booked this hotel by chance. Turned out this place is melted my heart. warm welcome with very helpful staffs the owner are so nice so do their kitties❤️ i will definitely comeback

The room was clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony on the nearby river was really picturesque. Breakfast was really good and homemade. Staff was helpful and assisted us with booking transportation to Kuang Si Waterfalls. Location is a bit off-centered but all tourist spots are easily accessible on foot or with a short tuk-tuk ride.

Great accommodation, it's down a little side street and our room had views of the river which was beautiful. The French owners put on a fantastic breakfast and make a point of talking to the guests each morning, which is a lovely touch. They were very informative and knowledgeable about the city. The staff also helped us arrange transport etc. It's a great location, only a ten minute walk into the main town where the markets are. Great value for money! The only downside is that the Wifi was not great in our room, so I sometimes had to go to the reception area to get a decent signal.

An excellent stay at Cold River! I was a little nervous about my room as it is listed as having no window (I was worried that it would feel claustrophobic). But my room was great! There is an internal window, so you do get a little natural light (but you'll still need the lights on when in the room). But I certainly didn't feel too trapped by it! The decor is lovely and everything is clean. There is a kettle in the room and tea and coffee provided. And a water dispenser in the hall (always appreciate this to avoid plastic bottles!). The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it (your choice of eggs, a plate of fruit, a small bowl of yogurt and muesli, crepe/pancake, baguette). The location is nice too and only a short walk to the main tourist drag. The laundry service they offer is great (line dry rather than tumble dry, so your clothes are treated with better care). There's a lovely cat that I made friends with 😻. The only thing I can think of that I didn't love was the pillow was a little too firm/large for my preference. Overall I can definitely recommend staying here.

My husband and I, seniors, thoroughly enjoyed our stay of almost a week. The owners for the last 4 years, Veronique and Eric, are long time hospitality professionals and it shows in their management, service, food, renovations. We especially enjoyed our breakfasts in the lovely treed patio area. And our room was fabulous -- a corner room with big windows and an unobstructed river view upstairs in the house (one of a cluster of 3 buildings with 20 rooms). About a 15 minute leisurely walk to almost anywhere on the peninsula, yet quiet and peaceful. We look forward to a return visit!

This was a really welcoming guesthouse in a lovely location in a quiet side street within walking distance to the centre of luang Prabang. Our room was lovely and a good size as well as being cozy with nice quirky details added. It had a comfy bed, nice bathroom and lovely balcony. The breakfast was really good and served in the garden which was really nice. The owners were really helpful when we were waiting for transport to go to the next place and even did some calling for us to see when it would arrive. We had a lovely, comfortable and peaceful stay here.
