"Hilton Head isn't just golf courses and candy-colored resorts. Its incredibly well-maintained beaches have made it a summer destination for people all over the southeast. The beautifully landscaped entrance to Coligny Beach welcomes you to its accessible location, made all the more popular by amenities that include showers, gazebos, benches, swings, free Wi-Fi, and a splash fountain to rinse off your sandy children. Wheelchair- and stroller-friendly matting leads to the water. Get there for sunrise, if you can, and keep an eye out for dolphins, which are known to pass by its shores." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"If you are not staying at one of the beachfront resorts on the island, you can still find similar facilities at the lively Coligny Beach. The family-friendly public beach offers clean restrooms, private changing stations, and lots of porch swings to relax in the shade. Coligny is a short walking distance to some of the most popular beachside bars on Hilton Head Island, as well as the 10-acre Lowcountry Celebration Park. Here, you can enjoy Hilton Head Island Children's Museum and a playground featuring a kid-friendly replica of Captain William Hilton's historic ship that took him to the island centuries ago." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"It's little wonder this thin sliver of sand in southern Hilton Head is the most popular beach on the island: with five miles of pristine sands, and plenty of amenities (restaurants! Clean bathrooms!), it'd be hard to top. Swing by the water feature in the plaza, where the kids can splash around during the hottest summer months, and try to get in early—parking might be free, but traffic can get a little crazy." - Paul Oswell

Very nice area. Large parking area just a couple minutes walk to the beach access. Access area has restrooms, showers, changing booths and sitting areas. Even has a slash pad for the kids. The walk way goes out to beach for easy access. It is a busy beach area but everyone was curious to everyone around them.

Google
Great park it is an awesome place for families to change and wash off. It has swings and a water play area. The beach was beautiful and there were lifeguards on duty. Throughout the day the tide kept covering the beach more and more so people had to keep moving their tents and items. Make sure you pick a farther back area if you plan to come in the afternoon. Free parking!

David Richardson

Google
This beach is great and free parking. Access to beach is free. WiFi access spot is also free. Life guards along the beach . Came on a Monday morning defiantly recommend getting there early for a good parking spost and beach spot. They also rent beach umbrellas and do not allow dogs on the beach During certain times. Also they have cameras all over the free parking area and nice bathrooms and places to rent off with places to fill your water bottles with cold water for free. Definitely recommend this place after looking around it's one of the free places to go that is very safe. The picture show of very hazy Skies since the Sahara dust is filling the sky right now but still was a great time.

I drove about an hour to catch the sunrise here, and it was totally worth it! This is my second visit—previously, I came with a friend to walk and metal detect. The beach itself is expansive, beautiful, and natural, offering a peaceful vibe, especially during the off-season like March when the summer and holiday crowds have subsided. The public parking is free, which is a huge plus, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby to explore. While I gave it four stars instead of five, it's mostly because it's not the best spot for shell-seeking, which is one of my favorite beach activities. On the bright side, there are lots of trash cans and even a few volleyball nets, making it a great spot for various activities. Overall, a lovely beach with a laid-back atmosphere!

This is the main public beach on HHI, so it can get crowded but it is a nice beach. Life guards on duty. Plenty of free parking (get there early) but be prepared to walk a good distance from the car to the beach. There are restrooms, outdoor showers/changing stalls.

We took a day trip to Hilton Head Beach with our two dogs and had such a great time! One of the biggest highlights was how dog-friendly the beach is—our pups had an absolute blast running in the sand and sniffing everything in sight. Everyone we passed seemed to be a dog lover, which made the whole experience even better. Lots of smiles, pets, and happy tails! Parking was super easy, which is always a win. The beach itself is wide and beautiful, with plenty of room to spread out. One heads-up: there are a lot of people biking along the beach. Most were fine, but a few were definitely living their Tour de France fantasy—zooming by a little chaotically. It didn’t ruin the vibe, just something to watch out for if your dogs are curious or easily startled. All in all, Hilton Head Beach is a fantastic spot for dog lovers. Clean, accessible, and full of good energy. Highly recommend if you're traveling with pups!

Google
Awesome beach!!! We love this public access beach great shopping plaza across the street and wonderful beach. Also they have handicap beach wheelchairs accessible. Our wonderfold stroller wagon did perfect at this beach

Henry Lanouette

Google
Great parking area, easy access to the beach, restrooms as you enter the beach promenade. Was great to see a sand toy lending box, trash, pick up baskets available for those who wanted to help out, and a beautiful wide handicap pathway down to the beach. The beach is long and beautiful and queen. Right near Pope Avenue. There are some restaurant bars with music and entertainment so if you want to sit back and enjoy you can. on the walkway getting to the beach there are some seats and also some bench swings for folks too take a load off and relax! The beach is about 5 miles long! We only did a about a mile down in a mile back, but it was a great walk. The sand is packed hard so a lot of people ride the bicycles down along the beach. It’s also dog friendly not sure if it’s all a year or just in the winter time but it was fun to see so many dogs having fun.

Tom M.

Yelp
It is not a quiet day at the beach during the summer. Loud music smoking drinking you have it all at Coligny. We will only rerun there in the very off season. Again there was trash and other debris everywhere unlike our recent experience in Florida.

Melanie B.

Yelp
This is one of the prettiest beaches I've been to in the continental US. The soft sand feels like flour and the water a balmy 80° in the summer. It has a nice, gradual decline. You can walk out a ways before it gets deep. It is super crowded during the day, but at sunset it's pretty deserted and just beautiful. Go at sunset. It's the perfect time to walk the beach without the mass amounts of people.

Aaron C.

Yelp
Coligny beach is PACKED. I can handle the crowd idea except that there are a handful of places to park and they all seem to be Full. It was very frustrating to be absolutely honest. If the main parking area full, then expect to back track away from the beach and shuttle back in. Also from what I understand the shuttles stop at 4:30pm . That all being said. There is a decent shopping area across the street from the beach, and the area near the beach is absolutely beautiful. In regard to the crowded beach. Make either a hard left or right and the crowd thins out and it becomes a really nice beach. Hmmm. Bring a beach wagon. Oh and the men's bathroom is like sitting in a porta John in Iraq during the August summer day. It's just as dirty and smelly too.

David H.

Yelp
There are many beaches to visit when at the Lowcountry coastal areas. The locals like to go to Burkes Beach or Folly, but the tourists love Coligny. We always take our visitors to Coligny based on the quality of the beach and the amenities leading to the beach. They have a nice parking area close by. There are many shopping and eating establishments within walking distance. No boardwalks, but there is a nice "beach mat" which leads you to the beach and makes it much easier to pull a rolling cart. They have lifeguards during the year in case of rip tides and bad weather conditions. They also rent chairs and umbrellas. When you arrive, there's a splash pad for kids (and adults too). Clean rest rooms, benches, rocking chairs, chair swings and changing rooms for those who prefer not to wear their wet clothes outside the area.

Michelle T.

Yelp
We were in Hilton Head for a friend's wedding and were staying at the Courtyard Marriott just a few minutes away from Coligny Beach. The entrance to the Beach is absolutely gorgeous - there are little swing chairs and benches for people to just hang out and enjoy the area. The beach is really well maintained and very big. We took a long walk down the beach and it was so nice. There is a long pathway down to the beach, so if you're lugging chairs, coolers, etc., it's super easy to just roll it down the pathway. We didn't end up going into the water, but there were certainly a ton of people enjoying it when we were there!

James R.

Yelp
This is where we take the grandchildren. The beach has a gradual slope. We can take the kids out a ways, and the water will only be up to their waist. They love playing in the sand. This is a great place to go on a date and walk the beach. You can even sit in the swings on the way down to the beach. We stayed at a resort just on the other side of the park. We would walk to the park or the beach. There are also several restaurants in walking distance. Plan your trip and have a great time.

Hilary M.

Yelp
What a beautiful beach. The water is in the distance so there are dunes and just a cute area w seats and changing areas. Along with bathrooms. The sand is beautiful and white and it is pact tight so it is great to run on or ride a bike We will definitely be back!

Typhanie B.

Yelp
Grab your blanket and enjoy the great outdoors. From the park to the beach you can enjoy both here. Park your car and make a day of it. There's great dining options within walking distance to the beach. The water temps are perfect. Enjoy that ocean and fresh air!

Ron H.

Yelp
Maybe the ultimate for visitors. Way too crowded for our taste - we prefer our semi-private Marriott Resort Beach. Limited parking and expect lots of visitors in crosswalks near beach - tourists do have right of way and STOP. HHI has refined this beach experience with human amenities. Run out of beach -- Never.

Ophelia M.

Yelp
The beach and the park leading up to the beach--I love everything about it! On a recent trip to Hilton Head, we spent plenty of time here and it's lovely in a variety of ways. The park has some adirondacks to lounge in as well as porch swings. We loved coming here and finding a vacant porch swing and reading with the sound of the ocean in the background. We also picked up ice cream at a nearby shopping center and brought it here (which, honestly, the porch swings were much cleaner than the benches at the shopping center) to enjoy our ice cream. It's also a great spot to people watch as there's plenty of folks bustling about. There is a nice long manmade walkway down across the sand to the beach and the beach itself is pristine. We rented bicycles nearby and enjoyed a beautiful beach bike ride (totally possible with plenty of packed down sand to ride on). Coligny Beach Park is a great place to spend any day! Get to it!

Lara T.

Yelp
Really nice beach in Hilton head. It does get pretty packed but there's plenty of beach front. There are umbrellas and chairs for rent. There are also cool swings to sit on as you go through the entrance. Open daily 6 am to 9 pm. They do have free parking as well but it's limited.

corrie c.

Yelp
This is a great place to go to the beach. There is free parking and great amenities like changing rooms, bathrooms and showers right as you enter and exit the beach.

Cassandra H.

Yelp
Love this beach. Always a place to sit super clean and energetic without being super rowdy. Just keep in mind limited food options in the area on Sundays in the afternoon.

Mitzi W.

Yelp
We checked out Coligny Beach the day before to become familiar with the parking, location and options for renting chairs and umbrellas. It really helped when we arrived the next day. We arrived at the beach the next day around 9:00 a.m. Most beach chairs closest to the water were already rented by people who pre-reserved for multiple days. We gladly took one in the next row. The beach was still wide open and it was nice to come early and get an unobstructed view of the water. Rental is $40 for the day (discounted if you rent for more than one day) by paying the beach worker cash or credit. The umbrellas were very sturdy and the chairs were quite versatile. The beach filled up in the next couple of hours. The water was so warm. Even though there was so many people on the beach, it didn't feel overwhelming crowded. Everyone kept to their own areas. I had never been to an east coast beach but enjoyed the water and the fast waves! We brought our own food so we didn't have to leave the area. And parking was so convenient in the lot across the street. We left around 2:00 along with many others and we noticed another round of people come around that time. We loved being at Coligny Beach park to have our first east coast beach experience!

Brian H.

Yelp
Nice little park as an entrance to the beach, nice bathrooms, and benches and swings to sit on. The foot wash stations and showers are more than adequate.

mon k.

Yelp
Well serviced and well equipped beach in the coastal empire. Near by mamy restaurants and bar. The beach is perfect for a swim or a long walk.

Erika U.

Yelp
If you are in the area, going to the beach during sunrise is beautiful. I was able to see some dolphins this morning. The beach is nice and clean with lifeguards. They have a tiki bar, which is great. This is a dog friendly beach. Free parking across the street.

Edward A.

Yelp
Great little centralized on-board to the beach. Just like any beach, get here early for best parking. I've been here 6 years in a row and have arrived 7am and also noon and it's all good either way. Well maintained common areas, it can get a little touristy but it's nothing like a jam packed San Diego beach. Nice little walkway to the ocean and a few shops make for a pleasant area.

Austin S.

Yelp
I was impressed by Coligny Beach. It blows the New York beaches that I'm accustomed to out of the water. It was spacious and clean. I didn't love the little twig things popping up out of the sand but I can live with that. Everyone seemed to be respectful and overall there wasn't any hoopla to be worried about.

Michele T.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I am from Long Island, NY. I grew up on the south shore beaches of the island. During the summer we would spend the days and evenings on the beach. During the winters we would take walks wrapped up in the warmest clothes, but still enjoying the beautiful watches of LI. Now we live in SC and hitting a beach on Hilton Head Island in March is soooo amazing. It's great to be able to walk on the beach in a sweatshirt and shorts this time of year. Something that we would only do if we were vacationing. But i live here now and I'm looking at it through a different lens. It's spring break (I didn't know that). We arrived around 3:30. The beach was the most crowded than I've ever seen it. It's Covid... we stayed for a little while and then left. I didn't get to have the experience i hoped for. When I shared my experience with my neighbor she mentioned some local beaches that the tourist do not go to. I have to make a note of that. Coligny Beach has showers, bathrooms, a really nice mat that is a path onto the beach. The facilities were pretty clean. There was no soap in the Womans restroom. The Tiki Hut is a nice place to listen to music and have a drink. Again, all of this is different with Covid and mask wearing. Maybe by the summer it will be a nice place to go in the evening.

Rose H.

Yelp
This is one of the cleanest and coolest beaches that I fall in love with each time I there. Watching the sunrise at Coligny Beach is a magnificent experience and so worth getting up very early to see. This beach has so much to offer and the parking is free and plentiful. I'm definitely planning to visit Hilton Head Island again so I can relax, unwind and take in the beauty of this gorgeous beach.

Jen W.

Yelp
I was driving my moving truck up from Florida and had a wave of tiredness come over me around 9pm. I stopped at the closest hotel in SC. Turns out I was just West of Hilton Head! Never having been, I woke up the next morning and drove East. Needing coffee I parked by the cute coffee shop on the round about, got a cup to go and walked to Coligny beach. It was beautiful! Wide expanse of sand, not too crowded, nice rubber mats laid out to get you from the park to the water. The park itself had chairs and benches where you could sit and people watch. I had the best time watching a little boy play in the fountain. The bathrooms were clean and the whole area was debris free and welcoming. What a great quick stop to start my day!

Mark M.

Yelp
A true 5 star beach! This place has free clean parking across the street. Beautiful restrooms, change rooms, rocking chairs, swings for couples, showers, and a mat to walk on that almost reaches the water. This is beaching at its best people! The waves here in June were pretty high and strong, and super fun. Lots of kids with wave boards. The water was very warm in temperature, around 80°. The water is pretty shallow, you have to walk out quite a ways for it to get to your adult chest level. The sand is medium brown and fine. The water level starts with low tide in the morning and reaches high tide in late afternoon. So, make sure you plant yourself and beach gear far enough back to allow for that. Everyone around us during the days we were there acted respectfully. It was such a great time being there.

Bruce K.

Yelp
Lovely park with beach access that works well for abled and for handicapped as there is a matting that goes all the way from the parking lot almost to the water's edge. That's pretty awesome. There are showers here to rinse off the salt water before getting back into your car, there are restrooms and they have a city-provided wifi network. Decent parking for bicycles, not as much for vehicles. There is a golf cart trolley that will bring people from the nearby university parking lot during certain parts of the day. [Review 12388 overall, 2174 of 2019.]

Yelp
They seem to have everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach. A great water fountain at the drop off point for kids to play in. They have a bathroom to change. Swings to swing in. This great pad which makes walking out to the beach very easy. I saw a large number of wheelchairs and even a lady using her walker. They have life guards on duty which we needed because they had a shark sighting during our visit. But they were on it and we felt Completely safe. Loved the beach! The waves make for a fun day. The sand is soft. The Beach house hotel has a tiki hut for drinks and food real close. They rent chairs and umbrellas. We had a very enjoyable time at this beach and would highly recommend it.

Dan M.

Yelp
Public beach on Hilton Head island. A little crowed, but it was the weekend. They have a blue mat like a yellow brick road (but blue) leading to the beach so you don't burn your feet. Pretty cool feature. Also a restaurant bar played live music. I'm not a Dead Head, but I love Fire on The Mountain, and they were jammin' that for 17 minutes. Went bogey boarding with son, which was a blast. Good beach. Clean and fun. Recommended.

Christina S.

Yelp
This beach was very clean, and seems like it was the most popular beach on the island. I wish I had paid more attention and brought my own chairs and umbrella because it cost $38 to rent on the beach! $38!!! It also gets extremely crowded and people don't really seem to social distance. They do allow dogs on the beach, and I did see a couple of dogs using the restroom on the sand. That made me a little uncomfortable. There are cute little shops in the Coligny plaza across the street as well as little restaurants. There is also a free trolley that can take you to your hotel, for a tip. If you are going to go, go early and make sure you stakeout your area. Very nice sand, nothing that will stick your feet. Use sunscreen too!!! Lots of gravel brought their wagons full of food along with their chairs and umbrellas. If you can, bring your own stuff. There are no vendors on the beach or anyone carting anything around for sale.

Robin W.

Yelp
Beautiful beach with easy access! Relaxing area with chairs and swings, bathrooms and changing rooms! Great place for families!

Denise M.

Yelp
Great beach. Free parking. I did notice cameras all over the parking lot which is great. Once you park you follow the sidewalk over to the beach. Very clean restrooms. There is a fountain where kids can play and get wet. Several benches and swings were you can sit around the rest room area. When driving up to the beach you will see a sign that says free parking. Large parking area. Several restaurants and shops and even a piggly wiggly across from the parking area. Dogs are allowed but you need to check the website because during the hot time of the year (Memorial Day to Labor Day) dogs are not allowed during the times of 10:00am to 5:00PM because it is too hot for our 4 legged friends and too hot for me too. There is an area where you can rent chairs and umbrellas.

Jamita H.

Yelp
I've been to Coligny beach before. I had a business meeting here last year. I didn't realize that until I got here, so that was kind of cool. As to be expected with this summer heat, it was crowded. And when I say crowded, it was CROWDED! But nonetheless, it was pretty cool. Nothing much more to say.....it's a beach, lol!!

Z Y.

Yelp
Beautifully landscaped public parking lot adjacent to beachside park and beach. It's free, plenty of spaces, yes it can get busy, can't beat this for free!

Gianna C.

Yelp
The beach was set up nice with chairs and umbrellas for rent and the mat path making it easy to walk on the sand is a huge plus !! Clean and quiet beach

Polina W.

Yelp
The ease of parking, proximity to shops and restaurants and a designated walking path on the sand is a win! Visiting on a cloudy March day meant that a Coligny Beach Park wasn't going to be like it is during the summer or late Spring. We easily parking in a lot catty corner to the Park. They seem to be building another lot too. Of course this all is likely filled up during peak times, but there really is an effort to focus on ample parking. We did our quick walk to the park, and loved that we didn't have to get our feet and shoes entirely sandy to make it onto the beach. It was a bit chilly and we were more so trying to check the block of making it out here. I think everyone else out there loved the ramp too! They have some swinging benches, plain benches and showers that make it friendly for all ages and including pets!

Juls B.

Yelp
We came here at the end of our day to check out the #25th rated beach in the country. Or something like that. It did not disappoint. Very clean and organized. Great Facilites and things to do for kids of all ages, including the grandparents (rocking chairs and swings) If you don't like walking on the sand no problem as there is a carpet that you can walk on all the way down to almost the water! Cool! I'd love to come during the day but we are leaving tomorrow. Maybe we will walk down here from our hotel before we leave Hilton Head Island. Great beach for sure!!

Shon I.

Yelp
Nothing really to say about the beach but it's really nice and clean. Lots to do there and decent restaurants to eat at. Would return.

Richard R.

Yelp
I sometimes feel like Coligny Beach is the center of my universe. When I think of it, my heart fills with joy from so many wonderful memories spent here on the quaint little island of Hilton Head, SC. If I need a smile after a hard day, week or month, I can count on any number of memories from this place to brighten my day. When I think of a beach vacation, Coligny is always the first beach that comes to my mind. Home to incredibly peaceful sunrises (although I used one of my best pics as a sunset) and one of my favorite trees on the planet for family photo's. The boardwalk looks wonderfully craftsman-like, as if Chip and JoAnna Gaines from my favorite TV show (Fixer Upper) built it themselves. It was the first beach I encountered when I discovered the island more than a decade ago and the first beach vacation ever taken with my grandsons. It is where my only daughter decided to feed a few seagulls some Cheetos, but quickly discovered seagulls multiply in population quickly when food is around! Scared of birds, she took off running with 50 hangry birds in hot pursuit, still with the bag in hand! "Throw the bag" I yelled multiple times as she seemed to be nearly a mile away! FloJo herself couldn't have caught this girl, but finally she threw the bag high in the air and continued her sprint! The birds settled around the bag and the chase was over. Even now, years later, I laugh so hard that I cry... like it just happened! It is where her youngest son (2 years old) would come years after his mother and chase seagulls for nearly a half hour in hopes of catching one! Oh the irony of that he isn't even aware of! It is where we saw a sand snowman and sea foam for the first time. It is where my oldest grandson thought an older gentleman in a Christmas hat and sporting a long beard was Santa. "I need to tell him something" he said as he jumped down off the swings in a beeline to this kind man whom played along. It is where, sitting on a bench one morning after the sunrise, my son unexpectedly said "You're my hero dad!" Gahhh!!! It is where we spotted our first wild dolphin and where we enjoy great gyros and seafood chowders in the nearby plaza. It is, in fact, my happy place. May it always remain so, protected and loved by all whom cherish it as I do. 2019/3

Alyssa G.

Yelp
We loved this beach! There seemed to be a sufficient amount of parking. There were several walking paths that lead through landscaped areas that eventually lead to the beach. They had nice renovated bathrooms that were as clean as a beach bathroom could be. They also had swings and beach chairs that you could rest in before you got to the beach. They had several volleyball courts as well. The beach is dog friendly during certain times, but dogs must be kept on leash. Several people were riding their bikes along the sand because it was so compact. The ocean and sand were beautiful, can't wait to revisit it in the summer with some warmer weather!

Terry A.

Yelp
This oceanfront park is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. There is a walkway that takes you fairly close to waters-edge and plenty of beach chairs available to rent. At the entrance are changing rooms, restrooms and showers as well as porch swings and rocking chairs. Beautiful park!

Aaron S.

Yelp
This is the reason I now go to Hilton Head at least once a year. Our family had went to Myrtle Beach for years (good on price), but we decided to try out the HH a few years ago. And we've been going back every since. For starters, this is main location for where you want to be on Hilton Head. The food and drinks and golf are all nice, but sand between your toes and the sound of the ocean is what you came for. From here you will find all that other stuff. Walking/biking up on it, you find a splash pad that is perfect for the kids and dog. There are public restrooms, but also changing rooms as well. I love the swings and rocking chairs that await you. When you need a few minutes in the shade, this is where you'll be. You have a few places to rinse off and a runner from the deck to the main beach that makes anything with wheels easier to manage. If you decide to pay for one of the reservable umbrellas (comes with two chairs), see the lifeguard for payment. You can pay for the day or multiple days. Once you're paid up, the spot is yours. And let me say, that is very convenient not having to tote the extra stuff or trying to hunt down a spot every time you hit the sand. As far as beaches go, it's very clean. It can get a little crowded during peak season, but hey it's the beach. The water is always a perfect temperature and because of its location, you can see the sun rise and set from the beach. It is top notch. *Insider's Tip -Get a place within walking distance to the beach. Not only will it be convenient for that, but for restaurants, cafes, bars, and other entertainment as well. -There's a tiki hut to the side, when you hit the sand. They usually have a great house band and strong cocktails.

Sam T.

Yelp
We decided to take our 9 month old beach for the first time here. It is a pretty crowded beach on Hilton Head with many shops, restaurants, and restrooms near by. Another bonus is there are a couple of free parking lots within walking distance. There are beach chairs for rent all over this beach. I have visited this beach in the off-season in November as well and it's a really great beach to take a dip in. Our son had a blast splashing in the waves and we made memories for his first visit to the ocean.

Angela R.

Yelp
Love going to this park. Beach is very family orientated. Showers and changing rooms available for the public. Free wifi and security on site. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars were the bathrooms weren't as clean throughout the day.

Juliet A.

Yelp
Evey year, my family rents a condo a 10-minute walk from Coligny Beach Park. It is, quite simply, one of the best, most family-friendly beaches we have ever gone to. Here's what's so amazing: 1) Free parking (!) across the street 2) Water fountain feature for kids 3) Bathrooms 4) Changing booths and outdoor showers 5) Rinse station right off the beach 6) Beautifully landscaped 7) Lots of porch swings and Adirondack chairs along the pathway 8) Lifeguards on duty are kind and attentive 9) There is a blue walkway (I don't really know how to describe it) leading from the pavillion down to the beach, making access for beach buggies, strollers, and even wheelchairs easier 10) THE BEACH IS SO CLEAN We love, love, love Coligny Beach Park and it is a highlight every year to come back for a week.

So much fun with the family! Coming while it isn't so hot and so many people was a excellent decision! We were able to enjoy the water and our own space! Everyone was so friendly

Yelp
Of the four beaches I went to my week here this one is the superior. It tops the others in maintenance, in access, in parking, and in facilities. If you want a can't miss beach this is it. A list of its positives: --Location: just off Coligny Circle near shopping and hotels, food and treats. --Sand: white and fine flowing to the beach turning into hard packs closer to the ocean. --Safety: beach patrol and lifegaurds are right there concentrated more than other section of the coast. --Facilities: restrooms and washing stations are right at the entrance. There is also a beautiful blue boardwalk to help you transverse the powder sand dunes west of the beach proper. -- Parking: plentiful space, some saved for compacts, in a free lot close to the entrance. --Scenery: photographic swing sets and backdrops line the corridor to the beach, a thin line of wetland runs back of the sands supporting water fowls and other life. And the beach is scenic in-itself. --Beach chairs and parasols available for rent. --Close and easy access to a couple oasis for when the sun is hot and the buzz is low. --Probably a false perception on my part but the waves seem to break better here, it's a better section for body surfing, boogie boarding. The only thing that is holding back five-stars is the lack of parasailing, boating, amusement fun. Though I haven't seen any if that on the island at all so it may be looked down on, illegal, ect.

Yelp
Nice beach with changing huts and restrooms. Beachmat walkway on the sand. Long way to walk from parking. Need to drop your beach gear and family at the entrance and someone else park the car. There is a family pet friendly tiki hut to the right on the beach in front of a hotel that convenient.

Yelp
I LOVE this beach park! It is so nice! And it's made for families and friend groups! It has a water spraying front opening and a drop off zone (genius) plenty of handicapped parking for those in need near the front! And then bathrooms and then showers and then just changing stalls! Next it has benches and patio chairs that are covered and shaded and the bench swings for relaxing! Then you reach the beach entrance part and the trail has a nice long blue mat walkway leading up to the water area where you can go left or right and post up! I saw plenty of lifeguards on duty as well. The beach was so nice too! Water felt great in mid-July when we went! This beach park makes want to commit to the 10-15 extra ride minutes from my house to go here over Tybee! We will definitely be returning very soon!

Yelp
Parking is terrible, we were looking for parking for about an hour. When we finally found one we got down only to be told that our dog was not allowed on the beach from 10am-5pm.

Yelp
I was warned that this park can get very crowded, but that was definitely not the case during our visit. I love that Coligny Park was walking distance to our hotel and shops and restaurants, as well as Hilton Heads extensive bike paths. There's basically everything you need to relax for a spell- swings in the shade, benches in the sun, roomy and clean public restrooms, free wifi, a splash pad, and showers/changing areas. I also liked the if you opt to drive, parking is free, like it is in so many places in Hilton Head. It's a must see if you have kids!

Yelp
Very nice shopping experience. My husband and I needed a chill day after a long day on the beach. It was great to just walk around and check everything out. The shops were cute and very touristy. Prices were extremely inflated but that is to be expected. There were lots of diversity in the shops and quite a few places to eat.
