Whilst wandering the city mid Sunday morning, I was in search of a cup of coffee. I was lucky enough to find the collected Works bookstore, which Amelia made me feel comfortable and at home. A cozy throwback shop combining caffeine and literary works of genius, and have fun. Definitely avoid high price commercial locations and come here grab a cup, pick a book off the shelf and enlighten yourself.

During our visit to Santa Fe. The wife and I stopped in to check out this quaint and amazing little book store. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Even gave me some advice on who to contact about opening a bookstore where we live. Loved how the store is laid out. Being photographer myself, they have a really good section on the New Mexico photography. KUDOS for that! The next time I am back in Santa Fe, I will be stopping in again to see what is new in stock.

Google
Great indie bookstore vibes. No used books (sad) but very impressive new book selection with a ton of paperback options. The cafe was also massive and seemed to have a great selection on the menu for coffee. Fun little bookstore for the plaza for new books!

Google
Nicely organized and good selection. The feel was nice and relaxed. I was a visitor but it felt like a nice local meeting place.

Google
Me and my friends visited this place and it was really cool. The bookstore isn't too big just bc it's also a cafe at the same time. And the cafe was beautiful. A very nice atmosphere to hang out in and do work or read. Very low noise. I didn't order anything so I can't say much about the drinks but I enjoyed it.

Google
Staff were rude to us for just asking where the restroom was. The batista talked down to us like we were stupid, and the person behind the counter was very short with us and said "Now can I actually help someone?" The book variety is subpar at best. Better options worth your time. Won't come back again.

Google
A Santa Fe institution and a font of knowledge and info about northern New Mexico. Also a great place to take a break from a busy afternoon among the boutiques and museums. Get a cup of coffee and learn more about this fascinating, ancient city.

Google
Awesome bookstore in Santa Fe. Enjoyed the coffee. Played some chess with my husband and even felt inspired to write a chapter in my wannabe novel. Great place to wind down instead of walking all day in the plaza.

Yelp
Helpful staff, yummy snacks at the cafe, lots of room to sit and read or enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The book sections are clearly labeled and organized. Convenient, affordable parking nearby which is a plus for downtown.

Yelp
I love everything about this little corner bookstore & Cafe. I have always loved bookstores... the smell, the eclectic people I meet there & infinite ideas and stories that surround and beckon to me as I stroll the aisles. This small book store is no different... AND IT HAS JIGSAW PUZZLES! The smell of coffee and low hum of quiet conversations in the Cafe add to the ambiance. And the friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiast, helpful staff deals the deal. I always come here at least once when I'm in town. I always leave with good feelings & usually a puzzle & a new book (or two). HIGHLY RECOMMEND! A+±

Yelp
There was an event planned for the evening we popped in, but it felt very rushed. The coffee was acceptable. The atmosphere seemed like it would be nice. There was a chess set set up at one of the tables that my two kids enjoyed briefly. I would give it another try!

Yelp
On a recent trip to Santa Fe, I enjoyed a magical morning in The Collected Works Bookstore & Coffeeshop. This independent bookseller is conveniently located in downtown Santa Fe. On one of my first afternoons in Santa Fe, I decided to drop in for a vacation read. Their books are well organized and they have a wonderful selection (the best I found in Santa Fe, in fact). I found a book from my never-ending to-read list and purchased it, noting that they have a coffee shop and promising myself I'd stop by one morning during my vacation. Which, I'm happy to say I did. The coffee shop is a bit sparse at the moment, offering only drip coffees and possibly pour over (no espresso drinks). There is an espresso machine, so not sure if it's just not operational? I did overhear someone ask the barista and it sounds like some adjustments were made due to the pandemic (but didn't hear all the details). That said, I got a lovely cup of strong drip coffee and a pastry and found a lovely spot in one of their window seats (!!) to linger over coffee and the book I'd purchased earlier in the week. For this book nerd, I seriously can't imagine a more enchanting start to the day. Get to it!
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
A cozy local bookstore where you can get drinks and treats reading the new book you just bought. They also have a discount bookshelf with books as low as $3! If you can snag a window seat (there's only three so keep your eyes peeled) you're in luck. Snuggle up with your book and coffee!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went in to Saturday to browse and it was too crowded, so we came back to purchase a book on Sunday. When we went up to check out the man behind the counter was on the phone and ignored us for quite some time, then treated us like a bother before calling someone over to check us out, and misgendering me in the process. If he is misgendering cis females I hate to think how he treats other people. Very rude and upsetting experience and I will never give this establishment another dollar nor recommend them when people ask what to do in Santa Fe.
google avatar

Jaclyn L.

Yelp
I love a good book shop! They have a cafe in it, but it was closed when we went. they have a great mixture of books and some fun games for purchase! SUPPORT SMALL AND LOCAL BOOKSTORES!!!!

Cassie B.

Yelp
Watched the owner berate her staff member over spacing chairs properly when setting up for an event. Clearly abusive, and considering this was fully public, I'm sure she's even worse in private. Don't recommend and will not be supporting. Don't know if she knows this, but it's free to treat your staff well!

David A.

Yelp
Visiting Santa Fe and was very pleased to find poetry from local authors on the shelves. Picked up an autographed copy from a local author. Staff helpful and friendly. Did not visit the coffee shop portion. Small, but seemingly effective book nook.

Sadie B.

Yelp
If the way they treat the local authors whose heart and soul fill their thoroughly politicized shelves, I have zero inclination to spend a dime here. Heard from a friend that they haven't paid him for the books he consigned. They claim they lost them (not sold), won't pay him, won't return his calls. The staff is as rude as the owner. This place SUCKS.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Incredibly bitter cappuccino and the pastries were definitely not fresh...nor warm. So, come in for the books!
google avatar

Kat P.

Yelp
Pretty epic place. This is like a lesbian's fantasy store come true. A book store and coffee shop. All it needs is some cats. Stopped in for coffee after walking around downtown a bit. Seating is a little sparse but it is primarily a bookstore over a coffee shop. They have a nice selection of books with a large section dedicated to Native American and New Mexico. Which, when I travel, is really all I care about going to these book stores. Only downside is the early closing hour. Sad face.
google avatar

Melanie F.

Yelp
This was a cute little bookstore in downtown Santa Fe. The staff was friendly and they had an okay book selection.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
What a whimsical bookstore in the heart of downtown Santa Fe! Wide selection of books with a lot of local New Mexican cookbooks (my favorite genre!) There's also a great children's section. While I did not order from the coffee bar, their menu looked great. Also staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Yelp
First discovered 5 years ago, it became my morning coffee destination of choice during Christmas week 2022. Highly recommended!

Jim B.

Yelp
Yeah, draws tourists BUT great cafe seating, quality books, and friendly staff. It's a must if you're looking for a one off The Plaza experience and want a taste of local flavor. Cold mornings by the live fire are beautiful and you can do puzzles that are left open on tables too!
google avatar

Nancy E.

Yelp
Super delicious coffee. Gluten free and dairy free options. Great book selection. Cool and comfortable vibe. Cool place to pick up a book, drink your coffee and relax.
google avatar

Yelp
As both an author and a reader, I adore this little bookshop! It is one of my favorite stops to make when I come into Santa Fe and I also make it a priority! There is something magical about this place. This is where I discovered The Night Circus, which I immediately read the entire way back home on the Rail Runner. I could curl up in here and read forever! I've discovered so many fantastic new reads and fun things in here! I am not exaggerating when I say that this is my Hogwarts. I literally get off the train, take the shuttle and run straight to Collected Works to discover a new fantastic read! They have never steered me wrong with their recommendations. I love the fantastic staff!

Yelp
I'm a sucker for a local book store and this place is just want I wanted. It has everything you would want and the perfect bookstore vibe. It is really low key and a calm spot to browse through the books. Grab a coffee while your at it, and enjoy the store. The workers are really kind and helpful.
google avatar

Marian H.

Yelp
The Iconik coffee here is quite a nice roast. Even in the decaf. I drink it black so flavor is or great import. But, even if you don't drink coffee this is a large independent bookstore with an interesting collection of books. And, if you don't like coffee- and you don't like books.... there is a fireplace.
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
It's sure nice when curbside ordering is quick and easy. I wanted to order four books as holiday gift. The nice woman at Collected Works answered my call on the first ring, quickly pulled-up the books I wanted, gathered my information- all in less than 5 minutes. It was super easy to pull up at the curb on Galisteo to pickup the nicely packaged books, and be on my way. No muss, no fuss. This store really has their act together! Always nice to support a local business, too.
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
I think this bookshop may be magical. It's a cozy little nook with a little coffee bar (though be forewarned that the coffee bar closes two hours before the store itself--at least it did today), and it gives me the sense that it is fully curated (unlike the big box stores that will sell anything and everything made of paper). It has a selection that ranges from classics to new releases, and I don't think they sell a single clunker. Bookstore heaven!
google avatar

Yelp
Small local bookstore with a café located in the Santa Fe Plaza is a great way to rest, grab a great cup of coffee and pastry from their pastry case ( I happened to get their blue corn lavender donut and it is amaaaaazing.) Because it is smaller than any corporate bookstore, Collected Works makes use of their space by carefully selecting the items they sell and the attention and intent are very apparent. New Mexico history, art and novels by local writers are in the forefront of the shop. Tons of novelty gifts and a roomy café with fireplace and free Wi-Fi invites you to stay for awhile.

Yelp
The best book store in Santa Fe and that is not just because of its iconic location. It's a beautiful luxurious place to peruse literature with a spacious connected cafe to read in (or work on the ever present jigsaw puzzle which I love.). The children's, YA, fantasy & Sci-Fi sections are especially grand with deft choices updated constantly. One employ must single out is Courtney whose knowledgeable suggestions and helpful attitude make this gem of a store shine even brighter. Whatever you are paying her is not enough!

Yelp
My husband and I were enjoying our first kid free weekend in a long long time. It's fairly customary for me to find the local bookstore and scour the shelves for good finds... some days I walk out with a stack and others it's just a book or two. Saturday I found a good, cheap poolside read. I handed the book to my husband-- he proceeded to the checkout, I headed to grab the beautiful hard cover children's book I had been eyeing... expensive but when away from the kids, those guilt splurges seem necessary, right? As I was heading towards my husband, I overheard the elderly woman at the checkout loudly start to scold my husband for not paying cash. I started to walk faster to give her the other book when she proceeded to slam down the book and snap "this book is so cheap it isn't even worth the credit card fee. In the future, do us a favor and buy a more expensive book." After that, I decided against buying the additional book. We thanked her for the free book and left quickly I'm not sure which I am more surprised about... her attitude or in the day and age of Apple Pay/square why the store is still paying high credit card transaction fees. Either way, the snooty out of touch and unkind response was not appreciated. In the future, maybe keep track of inventory and donate those books that won't make a sale to those in need... I cannot imagine they would be welcome in this woman's store.

Yelp
First- I love the bookstore. I purchased a Chuck Palahniuk coloring novella and a graphic novel featuring Noam Chomsky! Second- I didn't like the mocha- it tasted bitter, but the coffee roaster man offered to remake it-I decided on lavender mint tea instead which was a nice compli-MINT to my lavender shortbread cookies. Third-clientele were all having fun and one girl got up and sang and danced to the Pat Benetar song-but I suppose that won't happen every visit. Finally-there were plenty of seats and the WiFi was quick.

Yelp
This is a book person's bookstore. If I lived in Santa Fe I would come here all the time. We spent a cosy hour by the fireplace in their cafe, and I could have spent all day looking at books, and reading their employee recommendations (written by people who clearly know and love books--and who can write well--what a pleasure). It is a wonderful, magical, happy, cosy place. Whoever is their book buyer--thank you. Love when there are more than the most recent titles by a favorite author. Especially impressed with their collection of authors from the west and southwest.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
I have only been here once, while stopping in Santa Fe for a weekend on a road trip. This is a great independent bookstore. The selection is well thought out, the layout requires you to go on a small adventure, and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing worse than going to a bookstore where people can't recommend a good book! I bought a few books for my vacation and permanent shelf at home. Some of what I bought I could find anywhere, some I haven't seen since. We also went to the coffee shop and enjoyed our tea, coffee and pastries.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute bookstore. My husband and I both had the chai lattes. He wasn't all that impressed. Thought it tasted bland. I liked mine. Good presentation.
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
Fabulous collection of lifestyle & literature. Small business book section. Outstanding baristas and coffee, chai lattes. Superb customer service when seeking specific book titles. Free wifi and lots of electrical outlets too.

Humberto G.

Yelp
I'm not sure what it is about this place that makes it stand out from the other bookstores I've had the pleasure of visiting. Maybe it's the massive selection of titles, or the lighting, or the way that books are displayed - but I'm having trouble not bankrupting myself here.

Tyler S.

Yelp
Rude staff at the coffee shop, especially to tourists, which is shocking given the store can only exist thanks to the benevolence of tourist dollars. We asked for almond milk and they said they only have oat milk. We said ok thank you do you recommend any other coffee shop nearby, the young lady's response - "you can Google it" - then tuned away and ignored us. Rude, pass on the location as there are many other options in town at which you won't be belittled by the debutantes of Santa Fe.
google avatar

Gus W.

Yelp
One of the very best independent bookshop in the Southwest- In addition to best-sellers there is an ever changing range of books about the areas animals, travel, food and rich history. There is plenty of seating, a coffee shop, a real fireplace and regular author events.
google avatar

Breana C.

Yelp
In Santa Fe today to celebrate my partners birthday! I had read on yelp about this bookstore when I was looking up what to do in Santa Fe and was excited to visit. Unfortunately while pursuing the books, my partner and I were trying to figure out what gift to bring home, I had a negative experience with the woman who works there. She made the experience generally negative. I feel she made assumptions about whether we were going to purchase something or just were in the store to look. Our intention was to buy something for the reading challenge I'm doing and after two comments that she made to us we felt so uncomfortable we left. My partner and I love growing our book collection, alway purchase books when we go on trips, and do our best to support local businesses. Very disappointed to have been harangued by who we assume is the owner.
google avatar

David V.

Yelp
From my point of view, this is a really cool place to hang out and work. When I visited this place, I was trying to find a place to work and drink coffee while I was waiting for my next appointment. I was able to work, and while enjoying some new books.
google avatar

Joseph C.

Yelp
Among what impresses me is the selection of local authors, knowledgeable staff and the events they host. Ikonic coffee helps too!
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
As a native Santa Fean and a dedicated book lover, I wish I could say more for Collected Works. As it stands, I often find service to be a tad cool. Selection's pretty small, and the owners are only selectively committed to promoting local writers and artists. Woman (owner?) at front desk never smiles, and I always have the vague feeling, browsing through, that I am despised. Warm up a little, Collected Works! We Santa Feans are your bread and butter come off-season.
google avatar

Ed M.

Yelp
This is like the old fashion bookstore that has every subject imaginable and current trends. While you're browsing books, grab a cuppa coffee and have a seat. Great place!
google avatar

Jessica J.

Yelp
When we travel, we find new restaurants, a cigar shop for my hubby and then frequent all the bookstores we can find! The Collected Works was right downtown across from our garage. It was large and had a lot of newer books. They had a little coffee shop inside and lots of local flavor - I bought a couple cards with Santa Fe scenes and art. It is a fun place to kill sometime - especially if you like bookstores!
google avatar

Charlotte T.

Yelp
Collected Works has an amazing selection of books for all ages and interest areas. The workers are so so helpful and if they don't have something you want, they'll order it for you ASAP. Not to mention Iconick Coffee has a location inside. This is the perfect place to spend a few hours in downtown Santa Fe!

Khalid H.

Yelp
This was a great little bookstore. It has many books that you might not see at your average bookstore. They also had a coffee shop and chess at the table for customers to play when having coffee. I would highly recommend visiting this bookstore if you are in the area.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
I hate dissing a local business, but the store manager and her staff are so unpleasant I just can't stand going in there anymore. It looks like other people have had the same experience, and I really think the addition of the Iconik coffee bar is the only reason the doors stay open. Bookstores are dying, you'd think if the manager was trying to stay open she'd up her customer service game. This place makes me thankful for my Amazon account.
google avatar

Kameshwari K.

Yelp
My all time favorite local bookstore in the US. When I've been traveling, I usually special order a book at Collected Works, so I can walk over from the airport shuttle. Take this as a tip if you are arriving as a guest to Santa Fe. You can special order a book and have it waiting for you when you get into town. Coffee bar service is slower than slow. Do not arrive here jonesing for caffeine. You will die waiting. That said, the coffee and espresso drinks are excellent. Worth waiting for, if you have the time. Just remember to put enough money in the parking meter. This is Santa Fe, you will get a ticket for an expired meter. The coffee bar service is slow, but attentive to the process of each brew. The pastries are local. If you are a guest to Santa Fe, you MUST get a Whoos Donut. Ideally, you will try the blue corn and lavender donut. Happy reading!
google avatar

Tiger P.

Yelp
Very helpful and friendly at the front desk. Cool Atmosphere and great aromas of coffee brewing. First time here and not my last!

Linda C.

Yelp
This review is for the cozy cafe - great latte's (try the horchata latte) and cozy seating near a fireplace and at tables by the windows. Free WiFi, a clean bathroom, and Sinatra on the speakers make this a great place to hang out and get some work done.
google avatar

Orion A.

Yelp
Very disappointed to say the least! I ordered a copy of "The Thrill of the Chase" weeks ago and requested a signature copy. I was told the author would be in store a few days later and they would ship my copy after he signed some more. That was perfectly acceptable. I get an email today stating that they are now out of copies and don't expect any more until June. Are you kidding me?!! I paid weeks ago and somehow managed to to be swept under the rug because I am not standing in the store. This is not how you do business!! I was a 20+ year New Mexico native and was excited to learn about this book from an online news article. I was really looking forward to reading this book since life has lead me to the East Coast. Now all I have is the memory of some poor customer service. Thanks for nothing Collected Works.

Gorilla S.

Yelp
Check out how professionally the Iconik employees comport themselves, in the face of harassment by entitled jerks trying to get them fired. First class service, first class staff! https://youtu.be/cjdQBE3hoRk
google avatar

Bernardo H.

Yelp
Pretty good little bookstore near the plaza. The baristas are always friendly to me at the coffeeshop inside. I'm glad they now serve Iconik coffee! Some of the bookstore employees aren't very helpful, but that seems to be an issue at a lot of bookstores in Santa Fe. I suppose pseudo-intellectuals working in retail might even be a national phenomenon! I'd still recommend checking it out.
google avatar

J F.

Yelp
Great coffee and super cute & cozy space. They have interesting staff picks with great selections and I could definitely get lost in here browsing around for hours. Plus free WiFi is always a bonus! Would definitely be in here all the time if I lived in the area.
