Very well curated museum showcasing work from artists society doesn't deem important. Free admission with the Lausanne city pass. Art is thought provoking and facilities are well managed.

Great artists could come from anywhere. This is a museum that offers a very different experience. The majority of museums focus on preserving the conventional mainstream arts or a piece of noteworthy history. This one and its collections make you realize that mental or physical illness a lot of people endure or ordinary lives we live do not diminish what’s pure in (probably all of) us.

Must see for art lovers! I didn't take a lot of pics, merely enjoyed and bought a book (supports!). In the USA, I guess we call this folk art? The collection is VERY diverse. The Art Brut is now one of my favorite museums in the world.

Really interesting visit if not a little disturbing at times 🤔

Wonderful museum with a great collection of Art Brut, rich in individuality and depth. Worth visiting and revisiting. Friendly and helpful staff, special thanks to Julia for helping me find my lost item!

This is most probably one of the world's most interesting museums devoted to "outsider art", produced by self-taught creators, often marginalized, many living in institutions or being inmates. Their histories told beside their art works is often touching, sometimes violent. The French artist Jean Dubuffet was the initiator of this museum being a collector of this art form himself and then donating his collection to Lausanne. Just now, early 2024, the museum features a special exhibition called Visages, "faces", from which I have chosen to present some photographs for the reader to enjoy. The museum is discretely implanted facing the Lausanne congress center, somewhat off the center of town, and is surprisingly roomy. The works are beautifully curated. I find it a must to spend a couple of hours here for anyone interested in arts living in or visiting the Lausanne area.

Moving and touching. You could feel the emotional and mental state of the artists through their work. I absolutely suggest it if anyone finds themselves in Lausanne. It also had a 3 day pass with 2 more museums. Excellent experience.

Google
Focuses on artists without formal artistic training, many of them from the margins of society. The resulting art is fresh and captivating. This is one of the most exciting museums that I have visited.

Yelp
Many surprising exhibits here. The back stories make this gallery/ museum unique. Be sure to include a couple of hours here if you're in town!

Yelp
Great museum displaying art from those on the fringe criminals, schizophrenics, and other fun folks whom you might normally avoid. While we may not understand their behaviour, their art is something to be admired (even if some of it might be a bit disturbing). A must-see if you happen to be in Lausanne.
