This is a major contemporary art museum in Avignon, founded in 2000 through a generous donation by renowned French collector Yvon Lambert. Initially established with his personal collection, it is now jointly operated by France’s Ministry of Culture and local authorities. The museum is housed within two adjoining 18th-century aristocratic mansions — the Hôtel de Caumont and Hôtel de Montfaucon — offering an elegant architectural contrast to the contemporary works it displays. The collection is notable for both its scale and quality, featuring works by some of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Exhibitions are organized on a rotating basis and often take the form of curated thematic or solo shows.
