Where to Stay in Stockholm (Updated 2025)

"With a four-star, antique-maritime-inspired ambiance that feels like an antique shop meets a bed-and-breakfast, the hotel sources local, organic ingredients for its restaurant and offers a bar, sauna and pool; the rooms are cozy and I found the beds to be very comfortable, making it one of the nicest hotels in the area." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Stockholm (Updated 2025)

"I enjoyed its unique, classic ambience inspired by an antique maritime collection—every room feels like a mini museum, named after a ship captain and filled with photos, memorabilia, and even a model of the ship. It's super cozy with antique furniture and great beds, though I wished for a bit more natural light in the rooms. The staff are very nice, and the hotel includes a pool and sauna; the on-site restaurant sources local and organic ingredients, and the stately bar really gives you the feeling of being on a ship." - Matthew Kepnes

Victory Hotel is an absolute gem and hands down the best place to stay in Stockholm. The location could not be better right in the heart of Gamla Stan, within easy walking distance of the Royal Palace, and incredibly central for getting quickly and easily to all of the city’s museums. If you’re visiting during Christmas, it’s even more magical: the Stortorget Christmas Market is just a 4-minute walk away. The staff truly makes this hotel special. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind, exactly the kind of hospitality that makes you feel at home while traveling. The charm of this hotel is almost unbearable in the best way possible. The nautical theme and historic, quaint character give it so much personality and warmth; it feels unique rather than generic. On top of that, the beds are exceptionally comfortable, and the pillows are amazing (which is increasingly hard to find in hotels these days). All around, this was a 10 out of 10 stay. I wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else when visiting Stockholm again. Highly, highly recommend.

Lovely boutique hotel. Excellent service and very helpful and accommodating stuff. The room was good size, very comfortable bed. Nice bathroom and shower (great water pressure). Very clean. Very quiet. Room temperature could be easily adjusted. The breakfasts were very tasty and had good selection of food. Our room didn’t have a fridge but the front desk stuff gladly stored our food in their hotel’s fridge. We spent there four nights in mid September. I highly recommend this place. True gem !

Such a charming hotel, with every room unique, named after a sea captain. You couldn’t be more centrally located. The bed was slightly soft but the bathroom was large. Staff is quite friendly. Cabs are not permitted on the street to take you directly to the door so you have to walk 20 yards.

A really charming and lovely ship and seafaring themed boutique hotel in a very convenient location (in the old town but a bit outside the tourist trails). The hotel is charming, the rooms are very nice and the staff is very helpful and nice. In the breakfast room downstairs, you can see the remains of a medieval defensive tower - really amazing But the greatest was the summer restaurant in the courtyard. Delicious food!

This hotel is awesome! Completely nautical, such a great experience. Such detail to make it feel like you are truly on a boat, which is cute being in the land of the vikings. Rooms are clean and pretty. Staff is nice and helpful. Amazing location. Right next to some of the main roads in old town with restaurants and shops and the perfect side of Gama Stan to access all the others areas of the city quickest. Stockholm is a very walkable city and this is the perfect spot to be located and such a pleasant experience for hotel. Highly recommend. I had the captains small double room.

This cute gem is located in the old city of Stockholm, which makes a lot places very walkable , from the central station till the sites in the old city and the ferries to the park island and much more (plus a metro 3 min from the hotel ) . The hotel itself self is very decorated in a nautical atmosphere and looks like a museum . The rooms are comfortable with a cabin like atmosphere with all the amenities you need . I was in the single room and it didn’t feel that small . The breakfast is plentiful and very tasty . In a beautiful basement. . The staff was very attentive and helpful, let me mention Sebastian which was so friendly and nice . Overall an awesome hotel .

We stayed at the hotel for a week. The hotel's location is excellent. It is in Stockholm's old town. The subway is only a 5-minute walk away. The town hall is about a 15-minute walk away. The hotel is special because it is decorated with lots of old objects and antiques. It feels like being in a museum. This makes it seem rather old-fashioned, but with a lot of charm. Our room was large and very clean. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the heating, which didn't work properly. As a result, it was often a bit cold in the room. The staff were all very nice. The breakfast was good and sufficient.

Exceptional stay at this historic hotel. Room was incredibly comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful. Food in the restaurant is pricey, but very good. Our server was outstanding and engaged in wonderful conversation. Would stay there again in a minute.

Yelp
Cozy, quaint, clean, well operated. The entire place doubles as a maritime museum, which is really friggin cool. If you want night life there is an adjoining bar that is open well last midnight (not sure about the tired 80s music constantly being played...). Small little touches like free coffee/tea available on every floor and a container of port wine free in each room are both surprising and nice. The rooms are a little small but have all the creature comforts. Pillows are numerous and the bed is soft and comfy. Although the Victory is in the heart of Gamla Stan it is relatively quiet in the area late at night and early mornings....good sleep was in the cards for us. The breakfast is also free, and is pretty darn good! I highly recommend the Victory is you are open to something traditionally Swedish. Will come back for sure.

Yelp
Great find in the historic Gamla Stan section in Stockholm. Situated within a fifteen minute walk of the Central train station, the Victory Hotel is ideal for a home base while doing some sight seeing. There is also a subway stop close-by to cut the walk by half. On our recent stay we were amazed at the friendliness of the staff and the lengths they went to ensure we had a nice stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and although the building was very old, we had some creature comforts we didn't expect. Heated towel bars in a very nice and up-to-date bathroom. Dimming accent lights so you didn't bang around the room while the mad Russian ( aka Sveta, my love) was sleeping. An evening port wine cordial set up on a tray when we returned from a full day and night of sightseeing. There is an elevator right in the lobby that will take you to your floor and allow you to see the uncountable number of nautical ships and paraphernalia on display throughout the hallways and in your room. Literature describes the family's history and tells how an obsession with collecting became the theme for the family business. Prices were very reasonable and although we arrived very early in the morning the day of our arrival, they checked us in and let us have a nap in our room hours before check-in. While visiting Stockholm, you'd be hard pressed to do better.

Yelp
Did I stay at a different hotel? Because I sure as heck don't understand the 100% five star rating this place has earned. Maybe my husband and I got the worse room in the place, I don't know... but our stay at Victory Hotel was not a five star experience. My husband and I booked our weekend stay at Victory Hotel through Jetsetter. We haven't had any problems with the hotels that Jetsetter has showcased so we fully trusted their recommendation for our short trip. Now, I get the building's historical significance. I thought it was super interesting that the building was built on a medieval defense tower, but my interest in the hotel stops there. Yes, the hotel is nautical themed and full of "antique" decor. However, there's "antique" and just plain crap and Victory Hotel, leans more towards crap. The furniture looked like it hadn't been replaced/reupholstered/updated since the 70s. It was definitely not "vintage," or "quirky," more "kitschy" and just plain old. On top of that, the room was not very clean. There were visible dark stains on the mattress that you could see through the bed sheets and white stains of unidentified origin on the carpet. The chandelier was hanging by the wires and not secured. The desk had stains from cups/drinks that apparently were not cleaned. Lastly, the safety deposit box had no key, because it had "gone missing." The staff member that we encountered for the majority of our stay was direct and cordial, albeit a bit cold. Of course on our last day, we encountered the nicest staff member in the place. The location is what earns this place 2 stars. It's walking distance to everything.

Yelp
The most quirky and delightful hotel in old town, Stockholm. Several excellent restaurants in the building or down the street. The staff were very very very helpful and a port is brought to you each night in your room. The theme is very nautical and curiosities are everywhere. Highly recommend staying here but only 45 rooms, so book ahead.

Yelp
Great place! Location was fantastic but the staff is what made it truly memorable. Would highly recommend to friends.

Yelp
Charming and lovely collectors hotel in the heart of old town. Block away from metro or if you choose you can walk everywhere in the beautiful scenery since everything is close. As an owner of couple of timeshares with major hotel chain ( which we love too) the Victory Hotel brought you something different, vintage and original. I felt like I was in old times in my tiny cozy single room with chandelier and comfortable bed. Spent 4 days in town over the weekend and got a good price with breakfast included via Travelocity. Everyone spoke good English. If you enjoy historic charm and appreciate deviation from the mainstream hotels I highly recommend you to experience The Victory Hotel.
