5 Best Day Trips from Hong Kong

"Located in southern Macau, overlooking the black-sand shores of Cheoc-Van Beach, Pousada de Coloane was originally built as a manor house in the 1930s. Fresh off a series of renovations, the 28-room Portuguese-style inn has long been a top choice among those seeking budget-friendly lodging, great service, and a quiet location. Surrounded by forests and gardens, the setting couldn’t feel further away from Macau’s gaudy casinos, and is just a short distance from Coloane Village, Macau’s prettiest town." - Kate Springer

The hotel emailed instructions for bus transport which is easy to understand. Apart from bus, they also have parking space. The hotel is located at south part of Macau with a quiet environment and superb view with the beach. The room was a bit old and humid but the amenities was okay. It was weird that there is no shower curtain in our room (which was present in other reviews). The water was splashed all over the toilet floor no matter how careful we were. Beware 1/F room has very small balcony. I guess 2/F are better. The restaurant is cozy and nice. We had dinner with cocktails. Fair price for Portuguese food. Breakfast buffet was fine with enough to choose from. We enjoyed the environment the most. Just a short 20min walk to reach the Lord Stow's Bakery and Cafe. Great Portuguese tarts!

Much appreciate the help of Sam who was in charge of reception and really make our stay fantastic. Special thanks to Julian, Hotel Manager who is in charge of the whole property. Truly luxury gateway with nice food, fabulous view, super friendly team and only best memories! Will come back again!

Great boutique hotel at the southern tip of Macau. It might not have the bling of the five-star chains but you actually feel like you are in Macau. Nice rooms with distinctive furniture reminds you that you are in a former Portuguese colony. Lovely terrace and pool Easy to reach on numerous bus routes

My aunt used to own this restaurant/hotel and I used to throw so many birthday parties here. I don’t believe I actually ever sat down and ate here since my birthday parties which was many many years ago. We got several different dishes. Two pasta dishes, Portuguese style fried rice, and Portuguese soup. We thought everything was super tasty except the fried rice. The fish was quite dry and had no flavor, it’s suppose to be salty. Staff was super nice and kind! We asked one of the staff if a chef we knew still works there because we wanted to say hello but he had retired ~

Rooms was clean and tidy but a bit old and tired. Location was excellent been a 2min walk to the beach and 35 mins to local village home of the famous Lord Stow egg tarts (1 Michelin star establishment) We had 4 meals were during our 2 night stay, both breakfasts were good with great selection of hot && cold, dinner first night, fish balls, melon and ham, African chicken and clams in white wine and garlic were nice, second night we had cod fried rice and salon with vegetables, both were very average dishes.

We are a couple … elderly The place was beautiful / near the beach with a v nice view/ v secluded and quiet for a peaceful stay. As it was challenging for elderly we forfeit our stay for some where more convenient …. But wld recommend it for young people.

The hotel is clean and beautifully decorated, right beside Cheoc Van Beach in a quiet part of town. Our room was spacious and though the sea view was obstructed by trees, the sound of the waves and birds singing was relaxing enough. The restaurant fare is delicious and the service was excellent. There are beautiful trails within walking distance and a short bus ride away. Coloane Village is also nearby where Lord Stow's bakery offers the best Portuguese egg tarts in town.
