From the moment I stepped into The Colonel’s Resort in Bir, I felt like I’d stumbled onto a hidden gem. Neatly kept lawns stretch out beneath pear and other fruit trees, while the mountains peek through soft clouds in the distance—you feel like you're in a little pocket of paradise.
What makes it truly special are the hosts: Colonel Jotinder Pal and his wife Pratibha, along with their son Vikram and daughter-in-law Kamakshi. They make the resort feel like home. Their genuine warmth and attention to detail made me feel less like a guest and more like an old friend .
My room was airy, spotless, and thoughtfully set up—crisp linens, cozy touches, and all the little comforts you hope for. The housekeeping team deserves a big shout-out for keeping everything impeccable.
Everyone on staff goes out of their way to help—whether it’s sharing local tips, offering a friendly smile, or simply making sure you’re comfortable. The food was delicious, and I loved the resort’s four-legged residents: two beautiful Collies and a pair of gentle horses wandering freely across the grounds. They add to the relaxed, storybook feel.
It’s the perfect place to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature. Peaceful monasteries and charming cafés are an easy walk away, and if you’re into adventure, the paragliding landing site nearby. It is also a spot where you can see spectacular sunsets. For day trips, the Baijnath Temple, Barot Valley and Raj Gunda are well worth exploring.
As a solo woman traveller, I felt completely safe and cared for here. The Colonel’s Resort is more than accommodation - it's a transformative experience .
