We hosted our wedding here last weekend and had an incredible experience working with Laura Anson! We had been planning our wedding for about 2 years, and she was extremely helpful every step of the way, especially since we are currently not local to the area. From helping us give tours to our officiant, to making sure we had our favorite cider that evening, she was our favorite part of hosting our wedding at Colony. The space itself is so unique, and our guests had an amazing time! Several of them remarked that it was the most fun wedding they've ever been to. Very easy for the DJ to set up, and the food was delicious. All the staff was extremely helpful and flexible throughout the evening too. Definitely would recommend to any future couples! My wife and I enjoy this place whenever we find ourselves in Woodstock ny . This place has a trendy crowd and a mix of young and old. The talent here is amazing and the bar is always full. I played pool here with friends in the cozy room upstairs where you can also watch the talent perform from the balcony. The kitchen is open for a light lunch to help with the wonderful selection of drinks 🍸

BEST AFTER PARTY EVER! When we decided to get married in Woodstock, we knew there was no better place to host the ultimate after party than at the historic Colony Woodstock... and it absolutely lived up to the hype! From the moment we reached out, Laura was incredible to work with. She was so patient and understanding as we finalized details, held the space for us without pressure, and guided us through every step with compassion and professionalism. Once we decided to move forward, the planning process was seamless - exactly what you need when you’re juggling a big wedding! The entire team at Colony was collaborative and flexible, especially as our guest list grew from a modest 30 to over 50 people. From the most delicious late-night bites to perfectly coordinating with our DJ, everything came together effortlessly. The space created the perfect after party vibe, intimate yet larger than life. I truly can’t thank Laura and the Colony team enough for helping us celebrate one of the best nights of our lives in such an iconic, magical way!

Super fun venue with inside bar, tables and stage, plus a kitchen and best of all, an outdoor bar and stage with garden seating. Drinks were well mixed by a friendly server. Great to see live music in an informal setting. Could improve the end of the night instructions- it was unclear if the place was staying open, and although we were served another drink, it felt like we were not overly welcome to stay.

I have lived in the area for decades and l love live music but have never been to Colony. On a Friday in April a friend’s boyfriend’s band (Hilltop) was playing there so we went. The second band was The Niche. It was as good as I hoped. Walking in there was only one person sitting at the bar. We ordered drinks and walked around checking out the venue. My wife and I had Tequila Cosmos with Espolon tequila. The bartender was great. Kept our tab open for our group and remembered what we were drinking. It’s a really cool looking place. Having a balcony running around the full room with a high ceiling gives it a larger feel than it is. Upstairs in the front is a room with a pool table. During the second band a few of our group took turns playing pool while others sat in the balcony. In the back there are lots of picnic tables and a stage. I want to go and see a band out there. During the night our group ordered fried shrimp and a couple of orders of french fries to snack on. We also hung out outside in the back after the second band ended. It’s nice to be able to take your drink and get some fresh air. Both bands were great and they knew each other playing the same type of music. I’m used to bands playing covers which these bands didn’t. Long jams with good musicians. I can’t wait to go back again.

This review is specifically in regard to Colony as a wedding venue. We just held our October 2025 wedding in this beautiful space, and the party we threw came off better than we’d ever anticipated. My cheeks hurt the next day from smiling. Colony was the first and only venue we looked at. It is such a warm, welcoming and elegant space - vintage and cozy. Nothing about throwing a wedding here, from planning to last call, felt like an assembly line cookie cutter Marriott ballroom type affair. They will pretty much let you shape your event however you want. Laura especially was a pleasure to work with throughout - extremely accommodating to all of our questions and various site visits leading up to the day. The rest of the staff was also fantastic. As the bride, I felt like the whole night just went off without a hitch without my being aware of any of the million little things that went on behind the scenes. Pretty ideal. If you’re like us, and not even sure about having a wedding, and rue of the choice between “rustic barn” and “frigid hotel ballroom with purple uplighting,” give this cozy little inn a look. ❤️

We had the most AMAZING wedding this weekend at Colony Woodstock! Laura and Justin did such an amazing job of organizing the evening, and Ethan did a wonderful job managing our reception playlist and making announcements. We got so many compliments on how delicious the food Chef Joey made was, and he was very accommodating with dietary restrictions. And a huge shoutout to the bar staff, Purple, Miles, and Angelo, who were quick and friendly with everyone's drink orders. One of the best parts of having the wedding there was the town of Woodstock being very walkable. There's lots of local hotels and AirBnbs to stay at so folks can walk or drive a short to the venue, which made planning a breeze. We couldn't have had a more beautiful space or fun night, and the staff is top notch. Definitely consider having your wedding here!

Laura Anson and the team at Colony are incredible. Laura made our private event so special and seamless - from the first conversation months ago until well after the event was over, she was a pleasure to work with and helped think of every detail. We just hosted my husband's 40th birthday at Colony and it couldn't have been better. Laura was organized, creative, so responsive, helped recommend vendors and connected us with anything we needed. She geniunely just wanted to make sure that we had a special night. Can't express enough gratitude for Laura and the rest of the Colony crew. Great food, sound, vibe, and all around service. They are the best!

The entertainment and fun venue warrants a strong 5, the Food And Drug Administration middling 3, so on balance my experience warranted a solid 4. This is a 5 for those seeking a spot to let loose and enjoy music. My fish sandwich was tasty but very meager and the fries were cold and uninspiring. The beer was delicious, cold, and very reasonably priced for this kind of spot. The venue could not be more perfect for its purpose and a friendly crowd and great music made for a great experience.

This review is not based on food, or the performances. This is based solely on the fact that their doors are said to open at 6:00, and they have us waiting outside in freezing weather for close to half an hour. This is not a one time deal-same thing happened last year at felice brothers show. How can a business be this disorganized that it doesn't open its doors on time??? Inexcusable, and I'll find other places to watch these artists. It's a big "fuck you" to your patrons to have them waiting outside in freezing weather for close to half an hour.

What an amazing place! Went for comedian Jeff Leeson and got some drinks to enjoy during the show. The bartender and drinks alone make us want to go back! Not only was the staff amazing and helpful, but we also met some lovely locals! The interior has such a cool bar/theater vibe to it with a downstairs bar and seating area, then an upstairs viewing balcony. Highly recommend if you're in the area - we'll be returning as soon as we can!

Amazing venue. Huge indoor and outdoor space, primarily a music venue, but basically a huge bar. The night we went there was an all women group playing inside- really great band. I wasn't expecting them to be as good as they were. Watched them for an hour or so and then drifted to the outdoor area which has a separate bar, and was quieter. They also do food. Sat by the fire pit later. Definitely worth checking out even if you are, like me, not normally a consumer of live music.

Dear Colony: The woman checking for COVID vaccinations was an "A"*. Not like a New York rude "A"*, just a headband wearing, teacher type authoritative "A"* and that energy that doesn't fly with me. She may push around your Connecticut customers, not this guy. My wife carries her paper vax card to all events. I have a New York State Excelsior Pass that has a bar code along with the same name on my New York State license. She tells me what that?? I say it's my digital New York State Excelsior vaccination pass. She says: This isn't New York City, I need to show a card or I can't get into the event. What?! I crossed multiple bridges to get here, in the future, can you have someone up front who's more technically savvy? After I logged into the New York State website and showed this "A"* the date of my vaccinations, she allow us to enter the venue. Once inside, we have the place to ourselves. My wife walks towards the kitchen to order food and I go to the bar to order drinks. The Bar is 5 Yelp stars! The bartender & I start discussing what's on tap. I ask him about the Genesee Cream Ale. He said it's his personal favorite and pours me a taste? That's just great customer service. I grab a white wine for my wife and a proper pint of Genesee Cream Ale for myself. My wife didn't have the same experience. The special board has written Pierogies but didn't have them tonight. My wife ordered two French Onion Soups but only one was available? We're here at 6pm and you're out of soup?! She ordered for herself a Mulligatawny Soup. The soup was good but how can you be out of items when the doors first open?? The first floor of the club is intimate and the acoustics remind me of The Iridium in New York City. We saw Lindsay Webster perform and she sounded a-mazing. So the question is, will I return? I'd travel to Daryl's House Restaurant if the same artist is playing there before heading back up to this Woodstock location. *And "A" means "B"

Fun cute atmosphere! The food was homemade and good but not as special as I hoped. Will try something else next time

Went to an open mic-night here with my girlfriend. No cover charge, reasonable drink prices, great music venue, great people. Outdoor area where you can smoke and relax. Free billiards. Friendliest servers/bartenders (shout out to Justin for going above and beyond) I so enjoyed my night here it felt like a dream.

I honestly don't know how we ended up here during our time Woodstock! There was a band playing our group wanted to see but we missed them and following the music was a burlesque show. When in Woodstock :) There was a $20 cover which we thought was way overpriced but we were able to score a deal for $10 a head. We didn't know what to expect and then came out the dancers! The stage is a little rickety, but the showgirls definitely worked with what they had. They even had a stripper pole! The dancers were entertaining - some better than others, but kept the crowded engaged during their performances. The time in between the dancers though did sometimes take long. We mainly hung upstairs but there was a full large bar as soon as you enter caring everything from cocktails, wine, beer and hard seltzers. Upstairs was like an old theater where you watched from the mezzanine. In addition, there was a separate library with a fireplace and pool table. It was a fun place to be for drinks with friends and the burlesque show was an entertaining bonus, albeit way overpriced.

Really excellent experience! I was in town visiting my brother and we came from Kingston to see The Lost Leaders. This hall is a really excellent live music venue - acoustics are great, the acts are awesome, and there's even a nice dance floor if you're feeling inspired. There's a varied, interesting menu (don't make your decision until you see the specials board in the back!), stiff drinks, good local beer options on tap, friendly staff, and a cool outdoor area if it's a pretty day. They do verify vaccination status at the door for indoor events, which is reassuring, and the process works really smoothly. Highly recommend.

I went to the Honkie Tonk last Sunday. Great ambiance, dance floor and good drinking.

We had great service and a fun spot to hangout. They had a fire, live music and drinks! You can sit at a picnic table out back.

This is the kind of joint that makes a community worth living in. Great staff, good grub and drinks, fantastic line-up of shows, and a super comfortable space to hang out. Lots of different spaces indoors depending on how close you want to get to the music. And the beer garden? Well, first props to the Colony for making that outdoor space happen during bad covid times, so musicians had a place to play and the rest of us got a place to see them. It was a LIFE SAVER. And it continues to be an awesome space to hang. I can hardly think of a happier place to be on a perfect Catskills day than in the Colony Beer Garden.

I've eaten numerous times at the bar prior to shows. Fabulous and authentic shrimp po' boys and falafal sandwiches with a generous crisp side salad. Couldn't be happier with latest choices.

As ever, great shows, good food and ample bar. Love this place and it doesn't charge you to use your credit card!! I'm going to start making a list of the places that do so we can and WILL avoid them. May the colony always rule!

I've never been to Woodstock, before; it's about 100 miles from my home, but I can tell you that I will be watching the listings for upcoming shows at this awesome venue! I was in town for a show on Thanksgiving weekend and the vibe at The Colony was so warm and welcoming that it makes me want to spend all my holidays there! And since they have an outdoor beer garden I actually could! The building itself is about 100 years old and although it has been under new management for a few years it still retains many of the original features of it's original existence as a Hotel. The Main Room only seats about 100 people by my estimate. There is a dance floor in front of the stage and there is a balcony which runs around the perimeter of the room. Lighting is adequate but subdued, which ads to the atmosphere. The large bar is well-staffed by attentive bartenders and barbacks. There is a kitchen and they have a yummy menu, although I ate prior to my arrival and so I did not sample the fare. The lobby has some nice comfy leather chairs and check out the antique phone booth in the corner. The website claims that the have a billiard table, too. The show was wonderful. The sound and lights were perfect, and the band had a great time.

Came on a Monday for open mic night and was blown away. Such a cool experience for an out of towner. Would recommend to anyone. The food is also great!

What a great place to see a show! And by "see" I mean, you will be able to actually see everything, as it's a shallow room with tables and chairs and a second level that surrounds the entire room. There's a long bar opposite from the stage where you can also sit. Check out the decent beer, wine and cocktail list! Then die over the prices that remind you you're not in the city. Pro tip: Get there well in advance of the start time. We arrived right after the opening act and wistfully stared from above at those those tables in front of the stage. It affords a level of intimacy that is rare in a club with a capacity of this size. That said, there are some large booths up there that are cool, as well as small tables that overlook the stage as well. The perfect place to see a show for realz.

Whatever to the people reviewing this place for the food. Which is good by the way. Had a burger and mac and cheese on 11/6/21, both were solid. If you've ever been to the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, the greatest live music venue in the history of the universe, this place has a similar layout. But it is a quarter of the size. It's killer and I hope it's around forever. They also have free live music outside during the day, but this was an indoor show. Super nice people work there. Go.

Cool place here in Woodstock NY and what brought me here was live music that I heard from a few blocks away. They had a very large field with a stage for live music and at least 25 picnic tables. Music by Brighton Beat was marvelous while drinking Allagash white with an order of Mac and cheese-not bad, sesame chicken fingers- nice spice, and Onion Rings-change the fryer oil. People working there are great and friendly, smiling and that improves the experience. What I did not like is the hippie guy walking around with a tomahawk on his belt! I would have felt safer if he was wearing a Glock or I was wearing mine. This place has a lot of patrons who survived the 60s, made a boat load of money and now just hang out, weird right when you think about their protests? I make this judgement by the number of old people driving Porsches and other exotic cars. Plenty of older folks drinking heavy and assume they walk home! Before arrival, We did not enter any Woodstock stores but One because they all required masks but the outdoor Colony was mask free although some people wore them anyway because they were tainted and frightened by Dr. Fauci & CDC but more power to choice, right! Give this place a 3 because long lines at the bar and the food was average but the rating for Ambiance, Characters and Music was 5.

I went here for an event (work related) and absolutely had a great time. I was mostly outside, but can't wait to come back for a concert or with a group of friends. I nibbled on a friend's fries, and they were good (but most fries are). The drinks were great, and the bartenders were fast and very pleasant.

Have you read the positive reviews of The Colony? Well... they're all true. There is not a bad spot to sit or stand, the bands they book are phenomenal, the audio quality is fantastic, the food & drink is delicious and reasonably bar priced, and the staff are friendly and extremely accommodating. Huzzah for The Colony!

Came in for a concert while staying at an Airbnb across the street. What a cute venue! The upstairs was larger than I thought, had lots of seating and you could lean over to see the concert easily. The cocktails were STIFF and delicious. The vibe was fun and laid back. We had cake after the concert. It was delicious, the staff was really nice. We left full with a nice glow on.

Great venue, food and staff. Wide variety of artists scheduled with amazing surprise guests accompanying them that live in the surrounding area. All seats are excellent, the value for your dollar in both food and talent appearing is unbeatable.

I was so excited to be at my first live show since Covid. Colony really did a great job with social distancing and providing a great experience that made things feel like normal. The drinks were great and the blues singer who was there that night rocked the house!

I attended an event at Colony Woodstock for the first time in late November. We loved Amanda Palmer's Goth Dance Night and this this unique venue. Unfortunately, I am writing this review because I have attempted to get a credit card back from Colony's bar (they held onto it for the tab) since the last weekend in November, using Facebook messages, calls that went directly to a voicemail with no option to leave a message, e-mails, and letters. I received one curt reply in December. The responder told me they lose lots of credit cards, but that he/she would check. I never heard back after that. Considering it's now January, I would like to find out what happened to make sure I can protect financial information, if necessary.

Food is getting steadily better. Recently I've had a Swordfish club and shrimp roll specials. Both spectacular if a little messy. Their Mediterranean Platter is a dependably yummy healthy choice with excellent falafel, tahini and assorted grilled veggies. All in all the food is delicious and the live music and the scene is great. Music is truly making a welcome comeback in Woodstock and the Colony os an indispensable part of it

Just really bad food, I mean really bad. Feta on the greek sample was bad, wings were spongy, fries were soggy, chick sandwich was marinated in salt. Just yuk, and I wont mention the horrible service. On the plus side, they have cold beer and a great outdoor area with about 50 picnic tables. Plz come here to drink but do NOT order food!!!

We were looking forward to trying Colony after hearing good things about them. Food took 45 minutes, this didnt include the time it took to clear up the confusion of our food being given to another group of people. There was no offer to recook the food and no apology. Girl taking orders was extremely rude to customers and other employees. Finally got our food and it was cold. Also didnt love the Falafel sandwich. Never had one with cole slow instead of lettuce and tomato. We wont be back.

I am so comfortable here! We came here to see a band. I don't like feeling crowded and I don't like standing for long periods of time...no problems here. Plenty of seating everywhere. We sat in the balcony and had a wonderful view of the bands that played. We also had a salad with grilled chicken and the fish and chips...very tasty! If you consider it bar food then it's outstanding! Will definitely try and find a reason to come here again!

I am so happy this place has opened! I've been coming to Woodstock for over 20 years, and since the Tinker Street Cafe closed there really hasn't been too many options for community centered nightlife in town. Came last night with my parents to hear Maria Muldaur - what an amazing show!!! Seats are comfortable (come early to snag one), service is friendly, good drink selection, acoustics are great. I didn't eat here so I can't speak to the food. Maria blew everyone away with her vocals and magnetism - she puts musicians half her age to shame! I will definitely be back!!!!

I so love this place. I come all the way from the city just to feel the good energy and music. Please hurry up and reopen.

This place is a great throwback venue. Sort of like a small version of Roseland. GREAT beer (Subversive's Roast Sessions). Really cool and utterly Woodstock.

In a world of five star reviews, Colony deserves a 10! What a spectacular Staff. An amazing venue, Kudos to the owners for making this place nothing short of Great! Something magic here for sure, from the History to the chest high urinals. There is Everything to Love about Colony, You guys Rock!

Colony team needs to move at least a few of the bar tables from in front of the stage once the music starts. I go their for the great music, great people and to dance; but since they leave the BAR TABLES out thier is no flow, feel crowded and dance in place by the bar since I don't want to bother with jumping over people. Hence, I give it 1 star right now and will change to 4 STARS **** once they move at least a few bar tables so I can have fun moving and dancing (bar to stage) on a crowded night. Funny that I told a friend I was going to the Colony this weekend, and without further comment she said "They need to move a few of those bar tables so I can dance and walk through the place without rubbing up against some guy".

GREAT sound. Warm atmosphere. I loved it every time. Haven't tried the food but it smelled good. Acts are consistently good.

Nice little venue to hear good music, showcase some art and have a bite to eat. There is normally a cover charge for music, but the acts that come through are quality acts.

Probably the best full bar and happy hour spot in Woodstock! Just a short walk up Rock City Road from the heart of Woodstock. Great selection of draft beer too!

This place used to be a dive and now it's a gem! They gutted the place and it has been restored to it's original luster. And the sound system they've invested in is world class. It does get crowded so...Tips. Plan to arrive very early and get a good seat downstairs. Put your order in right away. And be prepared to have a great time!

Went to Colony last night for trivia and had the best time. Beautiful building and great beer selection. I loved the local crowd. Will definitely try to come back for the next trivia night!

Was there for New Years. Probably the best place to go in Woodstock for the evening. Great people, great music, and a huge venue. The manager Stacy is hands down the best manager ever. She was organized in the a scene of crazy drunk people. Will recommend this place to anyone. And for sure will be back!

Never again. They do not care if they sell more tickets than the number of seats they have available. (Strange, given the number of patrons over 65.) But maybe the show will be good? No. Not only can't you get a seat, but show does not start anywhere near on time. The balcony is flimsy and it shakes alarmingly as waiters run around like dervishes for no apparent reason. Plus everything is overpriced. They don't care, it's Woodstock, love it or leave it We left. Better just to stay away!

Went to the Colony for second time since it opened this year. First time was for brunch. Food was minimal for too much money , music too loud. Went back tonight. Felt like the old woodstock and it was lots of fun with dancing and hanging out. It is unfortunate that although I was told that money was spent fixing the place up it looks the same. The layout for music is poor. I don't think they bothered to heat the place. You have to move past the entire room to get to the kitchen to order your food. Kitchen is unheated and unpleasant to visit. I can't imagine how cold the bathrooms must be. You then have to go back to get your food and drag it through the whole room. Tables and chairs uncomfortable. The menu is completely unimaginative. The food was terrible. Frozen fries were all burnt and cold at the same time. Only white bread available. We ordered BLTs. Two meager strips of bacon, a single lettace leaf and two very thinly sliced pieces of tomato with a small piece of pickle on top. Really! Any diner would do better. All this for $8 per sandwich. I really miss The Joyous Lake. Good food. Great music. The Colony has a long way to go to be a pleasant place to visit.
