Our family of four (two daughters ages 8 and 6) stayed three nights here, and we had an outstanding experience. The location is fantastic, with beautiful views of the Flatirons right from our cottage. The cottage itself was comfortable and just the right size for our family, and we loved that there was no TV in the cottage (plenty of better ways we wanted to spend our time there). The Chautauqua community is a real plus. Our kids loved the park and playground, and the overall atmosphere is very relaxed. Really nice place to wander around. The staff was also excellent. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful, making our stay even smoother. Kelsey at the front desk was particularly helpful, and they all went above and beyond by leaving a birthday card/package for our daughter upon our arrival (we were visiting to celebrate her birthday). Overall, we had a wonderful time. The Chautauqua Cottages were the perfect fit for our family, and we look forward to returning in the future!

We LOVE Chautauqua! It is such a beautiful and special place. The wonderfully restored guest cottages feel comfortably updated and still retain their historic charm. The staff at the lodging desk are always so helpful and accommodating (many thanks to Kelsey, Robin, Martha, and Andrew over the many times we have stayed there)! There is a special form of peace and quiet at Chautauqua, and the amazing hiking trails are right outside of your cottage along with incredible views of the Flatirons. We enjoy eating delicious meals on the elevated porch at the dining hall, and walking around the grounds, as well as the trails. It is always a place of special and happy experiences and memories!

My stay was very nice, I had a lot of fun exploring the mountains, and doing other fun activities with my family such as zip-lining through the mountains, visiting the famous Dushanbe tea house, and the stay at my hotel was great! There was a gym, pool, free breakfast and a lot of fun things to do making our stay very comfortable. I had the best time with my family.

From handling some booking issues in the beginning, to the arrival and stay, the Colorado Chautauqua is nothing short of amazing! The staff were all incredibly helpful and kind, the cottage itself was very clean, quaint, and exactly what we were looking for to keep us close to the action but also feeling steeped in nature’s quiet bliss. I can’t recommend a stay at the Colorado Chautauqua enough!

Beautiful location and room. I stayed in winter and the room was a bit drafty and cold. They do provide an additional space heater though which is nice. One negative was the bedding which was odd. Just a flat sheet, down duvet insert and then another flat sheet. I did not like that I kept accidentally touching the duvet insert. It doesn't seem sanitary to not have it fully enclosed in a duvet cover. Also the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. Also, the wifi was slow at times.

Our families stayed at the Chautauqua Cottages for our wedding and it made the whole week magical. Beautiful setting, cozy accommodations and the Chautauqua staff was incredible. Highly recommend!

I, along with roughly 60 of my wedding guests, recently stayed at Chautauqua, and held our rehearsal dinner at the Community House. I HIGHLY recommend you do not stay here or hold events here. It was a disaster for well over a year. Colorado Chautauqua is greedy, disorganized, and will go back on their word MULTIPLE times.||You will have SO MANY different main points of contact because no one stays working here for a long time. With every new point of contact you get, you will be told something completely different.||To start off, we signed a contract and paid our first deposit in October of 2023. Then, 7 months later, we have a new point of contact who told us "prices have increased and there is nothing we can do about it."||Next, we were told a 40 person rehearsal dinner could be held in the Rocky Mountain Climbers Club. Again, we sign a contract and put a deposit down. Then, we get a new point of contact who tells us we can't fit 40 people in that room and we now need to pay for a much more expensive room, despite already singing the contract and paying our deposit.||We had a time frame for our wedding guests to reserve their cottages. We were told that Colorado Chautauqua would inform us when availability started to get low during that specified time frame. That was a complete lie. They booked out every single cottage to other parties without even telling us or giving us the chance to reserve more ourselves.||No one answers emails. No one will call you back. You have to follow up MULTIPLE TIMES and be ready to call every single day to get any kind of information. Even when you do get a hold of someone, they will all tell you conflicting information. For example, I was told by one person that candles to put on tables are free. I was told by the next person that candles are $150. This is just one example, but I have dozens.||I personally stayed in the Mission House with my bridesmaids. The floor was so dirty it stained all of our socks black. The air conditioning barely worked upstairs. It was WAY too hot to sleep in any of the rooms up there. Our refrigerator didn't keep anything cold and we had to have maintenance come.||The only redeeming quality about my entire experience was working with Rosy Rojas. She is the only person we ever interacted with who actually seemed to want to help us and not just charge us more money. Outside of her, I would not recommend ever staying or holding an event at Colorado Chautauqua.

Google
Fabulous place with great staff. The main attraction is close to all the major hiking trails. It's like an old settlement where all the cabins have been seriously modernized. The restaurant is to notch with modern dishes. The auditorium is perfect for business meetings, with seating along the top edge! Now I know you don't come here to be on your phone or computer but everyone is connected. The cell service and wifi here is weak. The ground are immaculate and if you like a bit of sports there is pickleball. Expensive to stay but worth it.

Yelp
Solo visitor from 10/29-11/3/2024 staying in the Columbine Lodge. I had a lovely, but tight, room and the accommodations were rustic, clean, and functional. This is a great place to unplug and enjoy your natural surroundings. Rooms do not have phones or televisions. I planned to watch some Netflix on my iPad, but even that was difficult with the WiFi. It's okay -- that wasn't the point of the trip. I appreciate the susty commitment of the place, but it fell short on a couple fronts. They provide you with plates and cups and silverware. They provide you with dish soap. They didn't provide me with a sponge or drying rack. How am I supposed to wash my dishes? Lots of warm blankets on the bed, tepid water in the shower. Also, I made my reservation many months in advance and when they started running a promotion for stays during my window they (at first) refused to honor the discounted price. I did eventually convince the manager to give me a nominal discount, but it's the principle of the thing. Overall, a nice place to unwind that isn't about frills and luxury with great proximity to downtown Boulder and trails. If you're there to relax, hike, and enjoy some peace and quiet this is a great place to stay.

Yelp
Awesome hidden gem for special events and live music. Chantel Dukart is amazingly talented. Blues, Jazz pianist and over all a musicianly filled spirit sharing her joy of making music. Bio to follow in review.

Yelp
We had a wonderful two night stay here. The cottage was super clean, comfy and quiet. The grounds were beautiful and amazing hiking trailheads were right at the property. The food was excellent and service was attentive and friendly. Couldn't ask for a better stay.

Yelp
A truly special place with one-of-a-kind amenities -- the Flatirons. What more could you possibly need or want? I visited for four days and three nights for a work retreat, and we'd all come again. The experience of doing things solo was equally good as doing things as a big group. So many things to mention about this place! Accommodations: The cabins where we stayed are so cute and come in various sizes. I got a cozy one-bedroom with a front porch *and* a screened-in front porch with plenty of furnishings. A co-worker, meanwhile, had a much larger cabin with two bedrooms, double sinks, clawfoot tub and washer and dryer! Visiting as a group: This is truly a great spot for any large occasion you might have (think: work retreat, family reunion, girls trip, etc). The dining hall was more than accommodating to our large group. We had multiple meals outside, and the food is outstanding -- we all agreed "dining hall" gave off more of a college/mall caf vibe so was unsure what to expect at first. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner (on different days) and each experience was great. The grounds: What more can I say? You could literally spends days and days and probably not cover it all. Chautauqua also has daily activities and we participated in a group mindfulness experience in the morning (open to all) before we were led on a private hike. There are a lot of people -- both who stay in Chautauqua and those who visit so some of the trails do get busy, but all pretty well maintained. The staff were awesome. Everyone we interacted with was warm and friendly. Don't miss the general store, which carries lots of souvenirs to take back home and also has ice cream and food. If you're staying overnight, you get 10% both at the store and dining hall! And if you're not from the area, the altitude can really sneak up on you so take it easy!

Yelp
The context: My fiance' and I brought $27,000 of business to Colorado Chautauqua on Labor Day weekend 2024. The good: Colorado Chautauqua is a beautiful property that is close to the mountains. The close proximity of the dining hall, general store, and flat iron mountain range makes this a great place to host a large group. The bad: The communication from their planning team is awful. We had 3 different points of contact over a 1 year period, leading to not only inconsistent communication, but a lack of response to emails and the repeated phone calls and voicemails that we left. We had to repeatedly follow up to ensure the simplest task was being completed. They attempted to change the price the we agreed to on our original contract. After signing an agreement in October of 2023, we were told in May of 2024 that the pricing for the food and kitchen crew had increased, despite us having signed an agreement. We paid extra for the audio and visual package for our rehearsal dinner. It took 40 minutes for myself and the A/V gentlemen to figure out how to play a slide show during our rehearsal dinner. This is the same rehearsal dinner that the folks at Colorado Chautauqua kept thinking was a wedding, and we had to repeatedly explain that it wasn't a wedding. One of our guests found hair in the sheets of their bed the first night. We didn't say anything to the Colorado Chautauqua team, however, the morning after we left the property, we were charged a $75 cleaning fee for leaving dishes in the sink and having a mess on the stove. Please be forewarned that although there are kitchens in the unit, the expectation is for you to hand wash all of your dishes before you leave the property. The air conditioning on the property does not adequately keep the rooms cool. There was a lack of clarity on invoicing, what amounts had been paid, and what amounts were due. We repeatedly had to ask whether previous payments we had made were applied to the new invoices. This is most likely due to the communication issues and 3 different points of contact that I outlined at the start of this review. In summary: We were disappointed with the service we received from the team at Colorado Chautauqua throughout the process and hope that this review can help you make a more educated decision on where to hold your event.

Yelp
We booked the Rocky Mountain Climbers for a family reunion. Very nice room. We were required to pay for 4 wait staff and a team captain. The staff was inexperienced and less than helpful. Despite being told at booking that the staff was there to assist as we needed, they were unwilling to mingle and serve hors d'oeuvres to guests. We were told that service would cost additional. The 4 staff stood by and watched or hid in kitchen as i served guests the empanadas that they had placed in the middle of dining tables out of reach of mingling guests The four catering staff we were required to pay for merely set up food buffet and cleared tables. The IT assistance for music and video slide show was also in experienced and less than helpful. Taco buffet was good. Empanada hor'dourves were not. They were greasy and nearly empty of filling. We were given parking passes for guests and told they could park anywhere on the site without paying. A few of our guests' autos were ticketed for not paying despite properly displaying the parking pass. Catering admin offered no help with the tickets. The oversite and management of our event was poorly managed and chaotic. Not what we paid for...

Yelp
Total throwback to the way Boulder was when I grew up here in the 70s-80s. Super cute cabins with screened in front porches, completely equipped little kitchens and a super comfortable wrought iron bed. The trails to the park are a few steps away, and you can bring your four legged friends! I'll be back, for sure!!

Yelp
Shayna, Dan, and the entire team at Chautauqua went ABOVE AND BEYOND to support our organization in hosting its first annual conference. Shayna was incredible at helping us organize an amazing schedule, including helping us find the perfect space for our gathering and providing absolutely delicious meals for our participants (the food was so good and included amazing options for guests with dietary restrictions!). Shayna was so incredibly kind, communicative, and flexible and we can't thank her enough for all she did to support us. Dan's support, positive attitude, and graciousness when helping us with our technology needs far exceeded our expectations, and we can't thank him and Bryan enough for ensuring our conference ran smoothly. Every guest knew Dan and Bryan by name since they both made a point to connect with each speaker and answer any questions they had prior to their presentations. This attention to care allowed presenters to be confident their technology needs would be met which was such a gift! My team and I highly recommend Colorado Chautauqua for anyone looking to host a conference. The location is magical, but it's truly the team at Chautauqua that makes this place so special. THANK YOU, Shayna, Dan, Bryan, and team for all you did to help make our event so amazing! We can't wait to host our conference with you next year!

Yelp
It was a wonderful service. We're here for a family reunion weekend. Was wonderful. There were three of us. Plus it was easy to hangout.

Joel K.

Yelp
Warning: lousy customer service. It's a lovely setting and all that, but... We found out after arriving that WiFi is terrible, which was problematic for our business retreat. The biggest problem was after I checked out and got home and unpacked a few days later, I realized I had left my laundry bag in my cottage. First it was odd that they hadn't contacted me, since the cottage was no doubt cleaned after I checked out and they had a few days to get in touch with me. I called them, and while it took a few phone calls, we did discover that housekeeping had found it and we arranged to have them send it to me (at my expense). My laundry bag did indeed arrive at my home the next week, but without any of my dirty laundry. Several phone calls later (by me--never a returned call), I still have not gotten my clothes returned to me, nor any real indication that anyone on staff there cares that I am unhappy about the situation.

Yelp
While the landscape is beautiful, the cottages are not what is promised online. Upon bringing this up to customer service, I was told that all the cottages are unique - which was not communicated to me upon booking. If you are up for rustic lodging with zero technology and outdated / uncomfortable furnishings this is for you. If the lodging was 200 dollars less this would have been perfect. Do not believe any of the pictures on https://www.booking.com/hotel/us/boulder-900-baseline-road.html?activeTab=photosGallery these were far from our experience. I do wish everyone who works here well! I just wish the advertising for these cottages was more accurate online.

Yelp
Such a good experience. We had out of town guests but no room, so we got a cottage. Clean, updated kitchen bath, no smoke, and location, location, location. Even someone who cannot get around can have the million dollar view and experience the Boulder Glow, as well as hear whatever is happening at the auditorium nearby.

Kevin C.

Yelp
What an amazing place. The access to downtown Boulder is perfect and you can't The fact that you are so close to the flatirons. The cottage was very comfortable and the staff was great. I'll definitely be back.

Mizz P. W.

Yelp
A very unique place. No tv but the cottage we stayed in was very clean, well maintained and appeared to have been recently renovated. Our Covid check-in was a little difficult because we were travelling and didn't have access to the check-in email that had the instructions. We called their reservations number and got the info we needed and were good to go. We were never able to access the email that had the WiFi info so we can't comment on the WiFi It had snowed a LOT the day before but the parking area and walkway were already cleared and the cottage was surprisingly comfy and warm. We knew nothing about the fascinating history of the place until we arrived. I'd recommend this for a laid back weekend or time to just get away without having to go very far from town. You can prepare your own meals there or you're close enough to town to go pick up (and there's ALWAYS delivery!) We would definitely stay again.

Frank M.

Yelp
I stayed in one of the Chautauqua cottages. Very unique: No TV. I had a great view. The WIFI is really nonexistent. They say they have it, but not to count on it. If WIFI is important don't stay here.

Mike D.

Yelp
Beautiful place and great location next to the state park. Be prepared to pay through the nose for this accommodation, especially during a weekend of high demand. Most places will capitalize on that demand with a 3 night minimum, Chautauqua demands a 4 night minimum and then adds insult to injury by not accepting AARP or any other discounts. Definitely catering to the 1% that can afford it.
