Unsafe, Unprofessional, and Traumatizing Experience
This hotel is not safe for LGBTQ travelers or for anyone who values safety, respect, and basic hospitality. My stay at Colours Hotel was traumatic in multiple ways, and I urge others to avoid it.
Staff Aggression and Management’s Enabling
I was threatened by a straight staff member (bartender) in the middle of the night (12:30am), who later sent me harassing messages. When I brought this to management, not only did they refuse to address the threat or even ask for an apology, they actively supported and justified his behavior. There are no gay staff—the environment is not inclusive, and management is dismissive and hostile when issues are raised by LGBTQ guests.
In one incident, the bartender and hotel owner together accused me—falsely—of not being a doctor and even implied I was responsible for my partner’s murder, a slanderous and traumatizing allegation. Instead of accountability or empathy, management doubled down and defended these actions.
Dangerous Environment and Poor Judgment
The same bartender allowed a guest in severe heroin withdrawal to stay in the hotel lobby, vomiting and shaking visibly from withdrawal, and then spun a false story that the man was a victim of a robbery. When I raised concerns that this person needed a hospital, management told me I was lying and questioned whether I was “afraid of God”—again, doubling down on denial rather than guest safety.
Management locked me away from my own belongings at midnight with no warning. When I tried to retrieve my food, I was met with confrontation and blame.
Health Risks: Food Safety and Negligence
The hotel shut off the refrigerator for 12 hours for a private sex party, spoiling my food. Management dismissed my concerns (“it was only 12 hours”). I ultimately became ill after eating food that was left unrefrigerated, and had to throw everything away.
This is not just negligent, it is dangerous—especially in a tropical climate.
Retaliation and Gossip Culture
Hotel management repeatedly gossiped about me to other guests, labeling me as “the problem guest” before they even met me, creating a hostile and isolating environment. Multiple guests told me they were shocked by the staff’s unprofessionalism and said they would never return. The manager also tried to control which guests I spoke to and spread damaging rumors about others.
Bottom Line
There is no commitment to safety, privacy, or inclusion at this hotel. Management enables abuse, denies responsibility, retaliates against those who speak up, and endangers guests’ physical and emotional health.
If you value safety, dignity, and respect—do not stay here.
