Yelp
Really pleasantly surprised with our cabin, especially based on some of our experiences with Yellowstone lodging. The cabin we rented had two full size beds and a twin and even though it was only one room, we had plenty of space. This truly is a no frills cabin with no TV or refrigerator, but it does have a Keurig. Beds are comfy and it's a cozy little place. I'm giving it five stars going in knowing it's rustic and comparing it to other, similar places we've stayed

Yelp
Always nice and helpful inside. Love the rentals even though the pricing is steep. A decent selection of gifts inside as well.

Yelp
Great boat ride across the lake for a better view of the Tetons. Our captain and guide were friendly and informative. They gave us plenty of time to take pics inside and on the rear of the boat. Money well spent and would highly recommend this on a clear day! ( $ 50 per person)

Yelp
This was a cool lil town that had a gift shop and visitor center and a big lake you can launch your boat into! They also had cabins you can camp in! Definitely a cool town to visit if you wanna escape the day to day life and reality! I would highly recommend stopping and checking out the sights of this place will definitely be back again!!!

Yelp
This was my second stay at Colter Bay cabins. They are rustic and no frills (no TVs) and feel like a log cabin complete with wood furnishings. Good news is that you have cellular service and the showers are hot. Bedding is just so so. The location however is majestic - nice starry skies and close walk to Colter Bay grocery, espresso stand, pizza place as well as their cafe with buffet style breakfast and other menu options for lunch and dinner. You'll probably see deer at dusk or in the mornings. Nice location but no frills

Yelp
Colter Bay is a large village located on Jackson Lake - further north than the lodge. It's a great hub for supplies, food, gifts, fun activities, lodging, and of course wildlife! We had a great experience here just exploring, picking up some fishing supplies, and grabbing some quick breakfast. While waiting for everything to open, we meandered around the marina, taking advantage of the still morning waters with magnificent reflections of the Teton range - and full of migrating Common Mergansers which are feisty water fowl that are so fun to watch. There were tons of birds and squirrels around the lake - it's a lovely area. The water level is still really low - I'm not sure what boating activities they have available now bc of that - but they had kayaks and canoes sitting out and usually they offer rentals and boat tours. They have a gift shop, sporting supply shop, and grocery store with a coffee shop - they open pretty early (around 7-8am I think). My son needed some fishing supplies and he was very pleased with their selection. We browsed the gift shop and then grabbed some coffees and breakfast sandwiches which were delicious and very reasonably priced considering you're inside a national park. Staff were all very nice and helpful. They have a pizza restaurant and lots of lodging options. They have a large campground (around 250 sites) and they also have log cabins and tent cabins as well. I'd definitely consider staying here next time I visit!

Yelp
The Colter Bay Marina offers a few rental options for going out on Jackson lake. They have canoes, kayaks, and a six seater small motor boat. The rental price is for 2-hours. You can go out about 4 miles on the lake and they show you a map of where you can venture. No pets allowed on the boats. We opted to rent the small motor boat and it was a great option for seeing the Tetons up close. The water is clear and clean. Water temp is about 65 degrees. Venturing back to the marina can be a challenge for someone not familiar with the lake. Fortunately we used our GPS via IPhone to guide us back to the right place.

Yelp
Be careful when renting canoes or kayaks. Their maps show passages from one bay to another. But those passages don't exist. This is not only inconvenient but potentially dangerous if a thunderstorm rolls in. Which is what happened to us. It would take 5 minutes to update their maps. Someone should get that done.

Amy F.

Yelp
Almost didn't take the boat ride thinking the $58 price might be better spent on other things. So glad I splurged! The views were amazing, Kyle- first mate/pirate/cowboy was entertaining and knowledgeable. We saw very little wildlife and it is STILL one of my favorite experiences from the trip.

Yelp
$394, including taxes, is too much to pay to stay in a Coter Bay Cabin. We spent five nights in a drafty, cold cabin. Linen service used to be daily, but it was once during our stay. The bathroom window would not close completely, which is the source of the draft. I fixed it with cardboard. The table lamps have USB charging ports. Two of the ports did not work. The walkway to cabin 839 needs to be repaved. It is dangerous at night. It has become expensive since Vale took over the management of the Colter Bay complex.

Yelp
I stayed here because it's the more affordable option for lodging inside Grand Teton (although it's not cheap either). If you have more wiggle room in your budget, I recommend you stay either at Jackson Lake Lodge or Headwaters at Flagg Ranch. The positives are - location, historic, friendly & helpful staff who promptly assisted when I called, & general store on-site. The room is big and spacious with hardwood floors. The bathroom is small but functional, the shower has good water pressure. I will not stay here again primarily due to their bed and heating. I stayed in a 2 double bed & 1 single bed unit. For the price I paid & space available, they could have easily fitted 2 king-size beds in there or at least 2 queens. The bed is very springy and thus lacked back support. The pillows are all lumpy & soft. Next is the heat/cold issue - My bed was located underneath a window & I could feel the cold air seeping through when I slept, causing me to have to wear a beanie to sleep. The heat source is a wall unit and it was inconsistent in heating the room. It took ~ 1hr of full power (a knob that turned to 10) to warm the room to a somewhat comfortable level of I'm guessing 68 degrees (it was 40 outside). On the last day, it puttered out and was barely producing any heat. The staff brought me 2 space heaters but within 10 minutes of plugging them in, they tripped the breaker & killed the outlets. The maintenance person came and said there was nothing they could do as these cabins are over 100 yrs old. I'm understanding, but personally, I get cold very easily. I have Raynaud's syndrome which means it's crucial for me to keep warm. Ultimately, you decide whether you'd like to stay here or not. It's not all negative, just depends on your personal preference. The biggest thing for me was the heat due to my health issue. Lastly, the pizza place is not good. You'll eat it because your hungry & don't want to drive anymore. The dough was not cooked thoroughly in some spots and the toppings were bland. Enjoy your time in Grand Teton!

Yelp
I stopped by here a couple of times just to pick up some supplies. Colter Bay Village is a beautiful area that offers a variety of services that include lodging, dining, groceries, camping and gas. There is also a visitor center and gift shop next to the general store. I was on my way to Yellowstone and stopped by the store to grab food and supplies. They had majority of things on hand that I needed. The marina has a boat launch area that includes canoe, kayak, and motorboat rentals. This is a nice stop to make if you are doing the drive between Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park. Wi-FI is spotty in this area.

Yelp
Stayed in a cabin with a shared bath, cabin walls were filthy, holes in walls, a little cleaning and paint would do wonders baseboard missing bathroom was cleaner than our room. But shower leaks to floor and dry rot mold on base of walls in bathroom all I heard all nite long was a compressor running and a continuous thumping sound like a generator running or a c pap machine, they really could do better!! Pic shows a damp paper towel lightly ran across the wall!!

Yelp
Loved loved loved this place! We stayed for one night during the weekend. The cabins are all log cabins with beautiful wooden raptors inside and furnished very rustically. We booked late so ended up with a cabin with 2 double beds and a single bed (that could easily fit upto 6 people) for the 3 of us. The space is huge and they also had a walk in closet. I think people stay here for several weeks. Beds are comfy. The couch is too. The main Street with the deli, visitors center, laundry and the restaurants is at walking distance. The food was much better than what we ate at Yellowstone. They have a cafe on one side with pizzas and calzones and a proper restaurant on the other. The deli stocks some food - pastas, spring rolls, deserts, etc. There is a Starbucks in there for your coffee and teas. Colter bay Marina is closeby where you can rent out boats, kayaks and canoes. The swim beach is walking distance. Everything was beautiful!! This is a place to come and relax. And it is not as crowded as Yellowstone or Jenny lake :)

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were excited to find an available cabin at Colter Bay, within Grand Tetons National Park. The price was $200/night, which for a cabin in a National Park, wasn't unreasonable. The front office is open 24/7, which is fantastic. They are very Covid-19 conscious, and allow one person from your party inside at a time. Staff members were wearing masks and behind plexi glass, so it felt very safe. I also observed a staff member wiping down our key after we returned it in the key box at the end of our stay. The cabins are antique, so don't expect The Ritz. They are very cozy, however, and we slept well. There is a small heater that you can turn on if it gets cold. We used it in the early morning to warm things up, as it got quite cold at night. The bathroom appears to have been updated fairly recently, and the shower had plenty of hot water. There was a warning about mice, so be sure not to leave any food sitting out. We were lucky enough to be near the back row of cabins, so we had at least a weak cell signal. Cabins in the middle have no signal, I'm told. There is a restaurant right around the corner which serves good pizza. We got it for take out. We would definitely stay at the Colter Bay Cabins on a future trip to the Grand Tetons.

Yelp
We loved our stay here. Wonderfully cozy cabin with a nice, well designed roll in shower. Very dog friendly. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Nice amenities and out of this world scenery. I hope we get the opportunity to come back some day.

Yelp
The cabin was a bit too rustic for my tastes but it was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Yelp
Loved being on the lake! This review is based on my experience renting a canoe and exploring the lake. I didn't stay or eat on location. You can rent all sorts of equipment like kayaks and boats as well but it was my brilliant idea to get a canoe. I remember watching fun family camping movies and pictured us doing the same. My mom warned me that it would be challenging to canoe but of course I didn't listen because I'm stubborn and a Taurus. So off we went and explored for hours. There are little islands you can get to and the Indiana Jones adventure continues! We had so much fun! Truly one of the best days ever. Renting is typically by the hour and runs around $20. Keep in mind that canoes are extremely heavy and you'll be working for it big time. Kayaks on the other hand are much lighter and easier to get around in. Regardless of what you choose, you'll have a blast! Lake Jackson is stunning and views of the Teton Mountains are something you'll never ever forget.

Yelp
Special shout out to Mike(y) in the Colter Bay Village office who helped me track down my beloved travel pillow after I forgot it in our cabin when we departed after our 6-day stay. It is currently being mailed to us. Woohoo! Beyond that, CBV offers a great location, a very good general store with great espresso, and wildlife on site to boot. Spotted a beautiful fox near our cabin. We've heard bears have been spotted there, too, but unfortunately missed out. It's a quiet location, near the lake. We found the mattresses very comfortable, plus lots of fluffy pillows, soft white linens and spanking new towels, lots of them. You'll need to clean your own room. We requested and received a broom to sweep up to rooms (had a two-room cabin, #447, great location). Everything was as advertised and expected. FYI: the marina is dry, so no boating activities right now. But you can take a nice walk over pebbly beaches to the water nearby.

Yelp
We found the quaint rustic log cabin to actually be far more comfortable and luxurious than we expected. There's no wifi or TV, but that would be a waste of time in such a beautiful location! Very clean, friendly service, and the bed, towels, and linens were great (we probably slept more here than anywhere else on our 3 week road trip!) There was also an unexpected ice machine right outside nearby to keep food in our cooler cold. No AC, so I suppose that could be an issue if it gets hot, but it was comfortable when we were there in mid-June.

Yelp
What a beautiful place. Friendly staff. We stayed in a cabin which was very nice, though far too expensive. The food at the court was expensive as you'd expect way out here, but it was pretty good. I was very surprised to find the laundromat didn't have detergent for sale after hours. The place is open 24/7, and has a vending machine selling two different types of dryer sheets, but no detergent. I asked the cabin desk staff, who are there 24 hours, but while friendly they were unable to help me.

Yelp
We were looking forward to a great breakfast so we decided to eat at the ranch house restaurant and this was not good. Our youngest son did enjoy his french toast and bacon. However, my chicken fried steak was not good. The steak was too done. The gravy was gross. The eggs were not done but I ate them anyway because I was hungry. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy, our other son ordered pancakes. Four meals ordered only one eaten. Super disappointed. However, the waiter was super friendly and manager did comp us one meal. The campground itself is nice as we have stayed there in the past. This time we stayed in the tent village. A little spendy for what you get. $72 a night for a very thin mattress on springs with no electricity.
google avatar

Yelp
No internet, no A/C, no TV & terrible food. It's also very expensive. I don't recommend this establishment.

Yelp
Ate at the Ranch House at Colter Bay. We stopped here for lunch on our way down Rockefeller Hwy. Got seated right away. Interesting menu. We had buffalo burger and mac n' cheese with pulled pork & bacon. The buffalo burger was really tasty, and juicy as it dripped on the plate. The mac n' cheese was absolutely delicious, really creamy, and the pork & bacon on the top added to the flavor. Only problem was there was a gob, like, I wasn't even able to eat but about half of it. Little on the pricey side, but one has to remember you are in a natl park. I would return to eat here.

Yelp
We loved the Grand Tetons and the things to do around Colter Bay and the rest of the national park. But DO NOT stay here. The staff was very unaccommodating. Mark D. (the manager) was only interested in making his money. Customer service (front desk) was awful. I would just say, there are plenty of great places to stay in the area. Don't give your money to this crook.

Rodrigo M.

Yelp
We stayed in cabin 202. The cabin was full of dust and there was an active leak in the shower. Pictures in the website are misleading. Thermostat for the heater did not work. We had to wake up every hour to turn it on and off. If we knew how bad it was we would have stayed somewhere else or even in a tent.
google avatar

Spadlo G.

Yelp
Huge area for camping, RV, marina, post office, laundry, general store services. Wyatt in the General store is a treasure trove of information. Great tips from him about the area. We were really pleased to see an actually well-stocked store. Compared to Yellowstone, (especially at Grant, ) this is a true general store. Deli items, ice cream, fresh fruit and camp essentials like bug spray, extra tent pegs are all available. Next time we go to this park we will try this campground. Even though it's huge... Really huge. Big. Not that small at all.

Yelp
We loved our stay here! The front desk staff was incredibly helpful and nice! We stayed in cabin 606 and it looked just like the pictures. It was clean (until we brought in dirt and rocks from our shoes) and cozy! There is no tv, mini fridge, or microwave in these cabins. For us, that was not a problem since we were there to see the park not stay in our room. It was a bit pricey but worth it to be able to stay in the middle of the park! It was centrally located to many activities and sights. Also, it was right by a restaurant, visitor center, gift shop and grocery store. Definitely would recommend! There are also more mosquitoes in this area than I expected and they were HUGE. So make sure to bring bug spray! The mosquitoes were NOT in our cabin but they were outside when we hiked.

Yelp
We stayed in tent village and we were not expecting much based on the pictures but the tent cabins are really nice! I love that there's a little grocery store there too, good selection of foods and basics and not terribly priced. The bathrooms were clean. Will definitely book here again, it's pretty central to a lot of the things to do in the Tetons, especially for the hot animal watching spots.

Yelp
I had a last minute trip change and had to make a reservation less than a month ahead for a mid-September trip. At that time, the only thing left was a 2BR cabin for $179 so I took it even though I was traveling alone. The cabin was nice, rustic, very spacious. The bathroom was very rustic with only a standup shower. The local is excellent, with a footpath leading right down to the marina as well as a few of the hiking trails. I was also able to bring my dog, which was a plus. I did not eat the restaurant on property, so I cannot review that.
google avatar

Nora S.

Yelp
Like all national park stays, very expensive and no frills. The three stars is for the price not the no frills. The cabin was pretty cute and it was a decent size. Plenty of space. Definitely not fancy but we've stayed at far worse for about the same price in other national parks. There is a big plus to staying in the park too. I was able to get up the next morning and walk around the lake with breathtaking views of the Tetons. That is a big plus. One downside was the piles of dirt we found inside the cabin. Made me wonder if they even clean it, although the beds were made and everything else seemed clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Great campsite location. Full hook-ups! Excellent views of the Tetons. Laundry facility, restaurants, market on site! Highly recommend and will definitely come back.

Yelp
Perfect place to get everyone off their devices because there is not only no WiFi, but no mobile data service!!! There IS WiFi at the check-in lodge. Rooms are basic but beds are comfortable and hot water plentiful. We experienced an unseasonable snow flurry when we visited in June, which was the absolute highlight of our family's Western States tour. Thank God for the powerful in-room heaters which single-handededly dried all the wet clothes and shoes. The restaurants are pricey, but you can head to the grocery store for hot meal options, too. There is no in-room hot pot or heating element as these rooms are, well, log cabins, so get everything heated up at the grocery store if you need.

Yelp
Our stay at the Colter Bay Village was a bit different from what we usually expect when we stay at hotels. That was mainly a good thing as it made the experience new for us. First of all, when we first pulled in we saw a deer right outside our cabin. Also, you get a parking stall right outside of your cabin. It makes the parking very convenient. When we first walked in the first thing my mom said was, "There's no tv." A tv is totally unnecessary went at the Grand Tetons. We kept ourselves busy enough to not feel like we needed one to pass our time. Fyi, there is an AC/heater in the cabins. We did not notice this on the first night. We were all cold the first night....and then we found the heater the next day . Night 2 was a big difference in sleep comfort. Our cabin was super convenient to some of the campgrounds businesses/activites. There was a really close restaurant (where we ate at twice, a park visitor center, a grocery store, gift shop, laundry room, coffee counter). All of these places were within a 5 minute walk from our cabin. SUPER convenient though we wished the store was open a little bit later or the coffee place a little earlier. The ONE thing I didn't like about this area was that there were LOTS of mutant mosquitoes. LOTS. We had to open and close our cabin door quickly to avoid having them get in. This is to no fault of the hotel obviously but when the room upkeeper/maid/person was doing our room we saw that she had the room wide open while she was in there cleaning/making beds/getting towels (we had forgotten something and went back to the cabin and saw her in there). Maybe they could be mindful of that while doing rooms? One last thing I loved at the Colter Bay Village was the history of the cabins. In every cabin there is a little framed history story about that individual. It was REALLY interesting. The cabins were multi-purposed 50+ years ago but now are combined to make this facility. Ours was once a ranger's home. As I said, really interesting stuff. There is also a brochure the check in area has that explains history of the whole area. I really loved this stuff and had my family read it too. While we didn't go, I've heard that the lodging in Jackson Hole is expensive. The Colter Bay Village was a great more affordable choice and we really enjoyed our stay. Side note: the laundry room located nearby takes quarters so make sure to bring some. If I remember correctly, there is also a change machine there.

Yelp
This review is only for the showers. If you feel the need to shower after camping for a couple of days, GO HERE!! The showers are the cheapest you can find in Grand Teton, about $4 a person. The showers are unlimited and nice and hot, which was perfect after a long day of hiking 10+ miles. As a plus, this place also has a Laundromat and one of the biggest convenience/grocery stores in the area.

Yelp
I have no problem with rustic cabins with few amenities, but as most people have said, if you have an adjoining cabin here, you can hear your neighbors as if they are in the room with you. One thin wooden wall is all that separates you, so forget any sort of "sound privacy". I could hear everything the decrepit old man next to us was doing in the bathroom, and even quiet conversations. The cleaning crew is also extremely noisy and was listening to some Korean electro-pop music on their cell phone while all I could here were things were banging and crashing while they cleaned the room next to us. This was a 16-day trip for us going through multiple locations and this was the only place we couldn't wait to leave. The cabins are extremely overpriced for what you get, especially no fridge or microwave which would have been nice. I don't mind that there's no cell service, that's not really their fault, but there is wifi in the laundry room and restaurant at least. Also, it would have been nice if we could get through to the cabin rental office. Our drive here took much longer than expected and we didn't arrive until midnight. We tried calling all the numbers we could find online and on my printed reservation paper for the Grand Teton Lodge Company, but they all had a message saying they closed at 7, which I'm pretty sure was just the number to make a reservation. When I finally got there I asked about it and the clerk gave me some random number but I have no clue on how I could have found it. The restaurant here is another story. please see my separate review on the Ranch House.

Yelp
We stayed in Aug 2020. Its nice that they are trying to restore and use these historic cabins. The cabin room was huge with pretty tall ceilings. The bathroom is an add-on. We had two beds and two armoires which were handy for storing clothes, plus one small desk and two chairs. The beds were pretty much ok comfort-wise. No carpet. The place seemed very clean until we found an old pretzel on the floor. No frig in the room so we got ice at the office for the 2 nights we were there. The bathroom was clean but I could hear our neighbors as if they were in the room with me - amazingly thin walls which must amplify sound! No wifi. I'm giving 4 rather than 5 stars for lack of frig, pretzel, and thin bathroom wall.

Yelp
Grand Teton is a beautiful place, especially if you can get out on the lake. Staying at Colter Bay cabins reminded my why I always tent camp, that would have been the right call here too. At night in September it's below freezing up in the mountains and after 3 nights in Yellowstone we just wanted to find something nice and warm. For $250/night we expected at least "Holiday Inn" level basic amenities. Within 10 minutes of arrival we noticed a mouse running around on the floor. Eventually, scared him out the door or into the walls (doesn't matter, my girlfriend felt a lot better when we didn't see it for a while). Not a huge problem but... These cabins are extremely "rustic" - given the price point. NO FRIDGE, NO MICRO, NO COFFEE. Service / support staff was just always angry/yelling in outside the AM, front desk was friendly, and the bar tender was a nice guy. Save $230 and stay at a campground instead.

Yelp
We spent one night in a cabin here. Yeah, it was incredibly pricey. But it's in a super popular national park, so what else would you expect? The cabin was rustic and adorable. And it was also very clean. We found the signage to locate the office and cabin to be pretty easy. Our cabin was really close to the gorgeous view of the Lake and marina. It was also located close to the general store and horseback riding! We wished we had gotten to stay longer!

Yelp
I stayed at Colter Bay Campground in Yellowstone National Park, WY on 8/12/2009. It was my 1st time there. I stayed in my R.V.: The Black Pearl. My campsite back in 2009 was $19.00 but I'm sure it's more today. Yellowstone is beautiful.

Yelp
Cabins have Large Rooms - we shared a 2-room cabin with a shared bath with some friends. Though decorations are basic, there is plenty of room. **No tvs or phones and wifi is accessible in the lobby only -- which makes a perfect vacation for this family!! :)
google avatar

Rob T.

Yelp
If you have your expectations set correctly, you can have a good time here. Ours were apparently set a bit too high. When we arrived at 3pm we were told our cabin wouldn't be cleaned until at least 5pm and that really we shouldn't try back until after dinner. No compassion or kindness from the front desk staff (they weren't unpleasant, just didn't seem to care that we couldn't clean up for dinner). When we did get in that evening, the room was quite adequate, but the simple cabin had bugs, cobwebs, and mis-matching curtains. If you're expecting to rough it and are okay paying for an expensive cabin you'll be fine.

Yelp
Today- we went on the scenic lunch cruise. I want to give a shout out to our captain Dirk and first mate-guide: Steve from Braederton Florida. They were both delightful and helpful. They made our day with a truly memorable day on the lake!!

Yelp
Colter Bay Village is THE place to stay while visiting Grand Tetons National Park. The RV sites are spacious, wooded, and quiet. Having an awesome place to stay right in the park made this a no brainer and talk about convenient! This location gives you walkable access to the Colter Bay grocery, gift shop, restaurant, Laundromat, and Colter Bay visitors center. Open your door at night and see the plethora of stars, get up a bit early and you may see the local foxes wandering the campground. This place is perfect! Special Notes: The staff at this park is beyond great. Kind, responsive, and professional, these folks make this the perfect spot while visiting this amazing park! Don't expect WiFi at your campsite, but there is good access at the Laundromat close by! A great plus when staying within a National Park. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g143029-d101244-r313308754-Colter_Bay_Village-Grand_Teton_National_Park_Wyoming.html#

Yelp
We stayed in a cabin for several nights. It was very clean and cozy. The temperature dropped down to the 30s while we were there, and we were very glad for a good heating unit and comfy blankets. The cabin did not have any frills (no hair dryer, fridge, etc.) and was pricey, but we knew what we were getting into and enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
This review is for the Colter Bay RV Park: We stayed at a full hook-up site for one night in June 2015. Although we arrived too late (around 6 p.m.) to check in personally, finding our spot was not a problem, as all the relevant information had been posted outside the office. Problems soon came up, though. The rv sites are very small and unlevel, and it took some time and effort to level our rv so that the refrigerator would be running. No electricity at the whole campground. Severeal people were working on the problem, but for the rest of the evening, we had to do without electricity. No shower either. We had to learn that the public showers are open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Seriously?? To my knowledge, people shower either early in the morning or in the evening. Furthermore, the campsite was full of mosquitos, so we were not able to use the picnic table. We paid 72 USD, plus 4.50 USD per person to shower. It was definitely not worth it, and we would not stay there again.

Yelp
We spent a total of four days/three nights on the Colter Bay Village property: one night in a cabin and two camping. We chose Colter Bay from the GTLC-run properties based just on tripadvisor reviews and online pictures. We wanted to enjoy the outdoors at the foot of the Tetons but also ensure we had some creature comforts like showers and a launderette as this would be half-way through a two-week roadtrip. Colter Bay has it all. Beautiful, majestic views of the Tetons from the marina, hiking/walking trails, two restaurants, the aforementioned launderette and showers, a general store, an amphitheater and camping or cabins to lay your head. We had a great stay here as a jumping-off point for Yellowstone, hiking in the backcountry and exploring NW Wyoming. We stayed in one of the shared cabins (there are four cabins to one restroom) that was extremely cozy and quite comfortable. Small in size but large in value ($35/night) it was a perfect solution to affordable, rustic lodging. We then camped two nights at the on-site campground. Very clean, quiet for being completely full, with tent pads, firepits and a picnic table at each site. You have to buy firewood from the general store or gas station up the road and it is not cheap, ours was also wet so useless. The property, as most in Grand Teton, fill to capacity by mid-day in summer and the campground is first-come, first-served so get there early. We purposely did the cabin one night to be on-site to check in for a campsite (I deserve planning points here!) FYI - we called to reserve a cabin two months in advance and the private ones were all reserved. Don't wait to plan your trip here. We ate meals at both the food court and the ranch house. The Ranchhouse offers more hearty meals and options and the service (by hired foreign students as with other National Parks) was attentive and polite. The options are a tad pricey but we are a little 'out in the woods'. The food court left a little to be desired, the service was much slower and food was bland. I had a $10 enchilada blue-plate special which was inedible and the table next to us, who had ordered just before, still had not received their food after we had finished. The proximity to the playgrounds that are Grand Teton & Yellowstone, the amazing views from the marina, with some creature comforts, make this a perfect place to say for a few days or a few weeks. Aces.

Yelp
If there was a zero star this place would get it. Our "cabin" was stiffling hot when we arrived, had two tiny windows that opened (barely). No mini-fridge, no coffee pot, no microwave, no air conditioning, no TV, no Wifi, no internet via a tower either. There is a convenience store which was stupid over-priced and a restaurant that was overpriced as well. This place is huge: Over 100 RV sites, as many tent sites, 200? cabins "cabins". At OVER $250 BUCKS A NIGHT, stay elsewhere!!! Note to Colter Bay: Spend the income you make in 1 day ($25,000 on the cabins alone) and get a fridge, microwave, AC, coffee pot and fixings for the cabins. Shame on you.

Yelp
Stayed in colter bay cabins in both 2016 and 2017. Cabins are very basic, but are clean and comfortable. Views from the picnic spots in colter bay are amazing and can't be beat. Lots of nearby activities and overall a great central location to stay in the Tetons. My only 'complaint' is the cost of the cabins, but everything in the Tetons for accommodations is expensive. If not for cost, my review would be 5 stars (keeping in mind that you understand what you are paying for, which is rustic cabins in an absolutely amazing location). Reserve early as they definitely stay booked up all summer and booked up far in advance. Don't expect to find anything there last minute unless you get luckily and find when there is a cancellation.
