How to See Alberta (10-Day Suggested Itinerary) (Updated 2025)

"I recommend visiting the Columbia Icefield — the largest in the Canadian Rockies — where you can take a glacier tour or stroll the glass-floored Icefield Skywalk to view the landscape from above." - Matthew Kepnes

The whole experience was great! Both our drivers on the bus and ice explorer were very social, giving us cool facts, and cracking jokes. On the glacier itself was really cool but the zone we were allowed to go on was pretty small with a lot of people. There was great places to take pictures and even a Canadian flag. The skywalk was my favourite, the little 10 minute walk to the actual skywalk was cool with little facts about animals and plants that are native. The skywalk itself was great but the glass was a little dirty and muddy so it wasn’t the greatest for pictures. Also there were so many people that it was hard to get a good picture with people walking in your way all the time. Besides that it was amazing with the views and views of waterfall down below. It’s a little scary at first but after you’ll feel great about doing it. Highly recommend!

The Columbia Icefield Skywalk has exactly the same concept as the famous Grand Canyon Skywalk — a glass-floored walkway extending over a canyon. However, this one is much smaller, roughly about one-third the size of the Grand Canyon version. Even though it’s on a smaller scale, it’s extremely well maintained and very clean, which makes it a pleasant experience overall. I wouldn’t describe it as very thrilling or scary, especially if you’ve been to the Grand Canyon Skywalk before. That said, it’s still worth visiting as part of the Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure package, especially if you’re also doing the Glacier tour on the same day. It’s a nice way to round out the experience. We went on a Monday evening, which turned out to be perfect — there were very few people, and we practically had the entire walkway to ourselves. It gave us plenty of time to stroll slowly, enjoy the views, and take photos without feeling rushed. This was a huge contrast to my past experience at the Grand Canyon Skywalk, which was very crowded and hectic. Ticket tip: If you buy tickets for the Skywalk alone, it’s around CAD $50 per person. However, I recommend purchasing a Pursuit Pass or a bundle that includes other attractions, which you can easily find online. If you pre-book online, you can usually get around 20% off, making it a much better deal.

Visited in May 2025. All of the staff I encountered throughout were fantastic and knowledgeable. Especially the young lady who had a little stall with info of all the wildlife (sorry, can't remember your name). The views on offer are incredible. Also visited the glacier which cool. (It's quite slippery - wish I chose more suitable footwear!)

A remarkable experience! Walk on the glacier, and learn about its critical importance and history. Our "Ice Explorer" driver was very knowledgeable, kind and humorous. It was windy, cold and rainy the day we were there, but we still had a fantastic time. Dress for freezing temperatures and wear waterproof boots if you have them. After the ice walk on the glacier, we got onto a bus that took us on an 8 minute ride out to the "Skywalk" where we walked out onto a see-through platform that hangs way out over the canyon. I think from beginning to end, our experience was about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I would consider this a "must do" when visiting Lake Louise, Banff, or Jasper. They do have RV parking, and an overflow parking lot across the street if the main parking lots get full. I believe they even have overnight RV parking available for a small fee. Enjoy your adventure. I know we will remember ours for our lifetime.

We visited on a picture Aug 21st. A perfect day. Definitely worth the time and effort to travel there. Maybe one of the top wonders in Canada. Pictures cannot do justice in capturing the prestine beauty and amazing views. Our tour bus driver was very informative, while our tickets were for approximately 1 hour, but you can stay longer and catch another one of the regular return buses. The Glass bridge is a special treat and is kept very clean to maximize the views. There are a couple of restaurants with decent food and would suggest you visit the ice fields and Athabasca river, Cross the street from the main building. That part is a short drive and you can walk up to the glacier. All in all, we had a wonderful experience and worth seeing again.

The Columbia Icefield Skywalk is an absolutely incredible experience. The panoramic views are stunning, offering breathtaking scenery that words can't fully capture. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional, making sure every visitor feels welcome and safe. Walking out onto the glass-floored platform is a thrilling moment, with the views of the valley below being truly magnificent. It's a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and a must-do for anyone visiting the area. This unique experience is more than just a viewpoint; it's a profound journey into the heart of nature's grandeur, leaving you with memories that will last forever.

The visit to the skywalk is a great experience ! The view is really spectacular . The design and the built of the skywalk is a big and excellent project . The line up, the pre-arrangement , the shuttle bus ride are worth it. If you are visiting Banff , the best way is to booked the Pursuit Pass on line. This can save you money and time. A place that you should visit.

Although this is not the accurate location but this is the only way to go there by bus from the information center area. Actually it’s amazing and stunning view from the skywalk. Everything there was great . Washroom is available near the bus drop point before walking to the skywalk. Great opportunities for nice photos and you can read some good information about the wildlife you are expected to see in Jasper national Park.
