Beautiful restored 12th century monastery — what a cool setting. Not just for college kids—I also saw plenty of families with teens, couples in their 70s, people in their 30s and 40s... As a solo female traveler I chose a private room with a double bed. A much nicer experience than a more expensive Venice hotel room I stayed in the previous night. Breakfast was nicely done (eggs, meats, cheeses, yogurts, cakes, fruit) and no lines before 8am. Nice coffee shop and bar there too. Walking distance to a place called Vino Vero that seemed very popular by the canal. Only negatives: as others have noted a couple (not all) staff members seemed a bit easily annoyed, and while they have a luggage room where you can put your stuff with a key card they hand you, within that room you can't lock your stuff unless you bring your own lock.
